I remember I used to think I knew what love was when I was younger in my teens, only to realize when I got older it wasn't love, but infatuation, and it made me realize that I never really knew what it's actually like to romantically love someone or for someone to romantically love me.

And now, I stopped caring about relationships cause I just think they're a waste of time and who the hell would honestly want to truly get to know me anyways?

Do not kill the part of you that is cringe... kill the part that cringes.

I remember being 14 and being really attracted to her, and seeing shinji and thinking "he's me. I'm him".

At thirty I'm rewatching it, and man they're just kids. Children. My heart breaks for them.

I'm rambling, but man it's weird to see your teenage crush stay 14. while you grow up, get a job, fall in love and get married, etc.

Here's the deal, request a GDPR download from reddit to get all of your comments with links, then scrape the parent chains before subs go private in protest. 2 days remaining.

This is my worst nightmare when it comes to relationships. Marrying someone who is still hung up on a previous partner and wishing it was them when they look at you.

This video has an actual priest talking about that stuff. Give it a watch

local adaptation

My list is usually fast, as I directly check hf almost daily

I'm not sure if this belongs here or in r/learnmachinelearning, but I have a question about what is and isn't possible.

My husband's best friend passed several years ago and he has copious chats, forum posts as well as the stories they wrote together. Right now, we have created a bot in Character.AI that kinda sounds like him, but obviously not one that contains any of his knowledge since the definition window is small and the bots' memory is... imprecise at best.

So I got to wondering: it seems like it should be possible to fine-tune/create a LoRA of one of the LLMs so that it does contain the friend's knowledge and can be used as a chatbot. From my research it seems like Vicuna would be a good fit as it has already been tweaked to act as a chatbot. I'm currently working through tutorials, including the "How to Fine Tune an LLM" that exists on Colab that tweaks GPT2 (I think) with wikipedia data. I know I have a huge learning curve ahead of me.

I would be looking at doing the training using Google Colab, but ideally he'd run the end result locally. He can run stable diffusion on his machine using his NVidia GPU. Sadly, my video card is AMD so while I can technically run the Vicuna 4 bit model (13B, I think?) in CPU mode, it's too painfully slow to do anything with.

The data is currently unstructured. Obviously we will need to format it properly, but it is in the form of blocks of text rather than the Prompt/Input/Output format I've seen in various Github projects.

As for me, I am a former C# Windows/Web/SQL developer so I'm not starting from absolute scratch, but obviously I'll need to learn a lot. I'm prepared for this to be an ongoing project for the new few months.

I would welcome any feedback as to what is or isn't possible, whether I'm setting my sights too high, or even if I'm simply in the wrong forum. Thanks all!

EDIT: I've received many words of warning about whether this is a good idea, for my husband's sake at least. After thinking about it, I'm not sure I'm at the point where I agree yet but I'll at least give this a lot of thought before attempting something like this. I know it's not the most emotionally healthy thing, to cling to the echoes of someone gone. He has not found interacting with the Character.AI version of his friend to be difficult but while their bots are fun to interact 2i5h and can still sound startingly human, an LLM fine tuned on the friend's text has every chance of being more so to the point of being damaging. So thank you everyone, you've given me a lot to think about.

When it comes to typography and design, which fonts do you readily keep in your arsenal and which you would consider "staples"?

Are these fonts more established and widely adopted in the typography and design communities and are you reluctant to add "newer" fonts into the mix?

Which fonts did you once keep in your collection, but have since parted with and why?

Great advertisement, but for an incomplete supplement. Porn actors do some version of the following,

Masteron 300mg week for libido
Proviron 75mg week for volume
Cabergoline .25mg every three days for shorter recovery time between orgasms (Mike Adriano says hi)
Testo Enanthate 300mg week for volume and thickness
Tadalafil ?mg on filming days
Tribulus 6g day for semen production
Can add Macca, Epimedium, Long Jack, and Ashwaghanda as natural support.

Edit: spacing for clarity and substance functions.
Edit 2: This has blown out of proportion and I'm getting requests for PED orientation. Yes, you guys are crazy. So let me clear it up.

This is a blasting cycle, not a cruise. Do this a bit too long or overdosed and you will fuck with your natural hormone axis on top of most certanly developing gynecomasty and a jelly dick.

The breakdown of how this cycle affect the body goes as follow,
1. A high dose of testosterone enanthate for slow absorption compared to other forms of synthetizing would aromatize and increase estradiol which in men, creates sex drive and produce sperm. HOWEVER, aromatizing also means the organism recognizes testosterone levels too high and will lower production. 2. Masteron and Proviron are DHT to SHBG hormones. They would be responsible for facilitating production of the different fluids that compose semen while being essential for erectile fuction. HOWEVER, even though DHT family hormones capture free-testosterone and put it to use, it inhibits natural testosterone production in the process. 3. Cabergoline lowers prolactin levels, which in turn reduce refractory period. HOWEVER, It may mess up dopamine receptors.
4. Three to six grams of Tribulus are required for substantial effect in male reprodutory tract. HOWEVER, long term use of this dosage can lead to hypoglycemia.
5. Do your own research on cruising Tadalafil. This is easy enough to find and read. 6. This is not a bodybuilding protocol and most likely would not work stacked with/as one.

Finally, I didn't mean to stir shit up, nor did I intend to discuss the male role in porn industry. I post while sipping my tea.

Hi I read on r/privacy that people recommend not deleting one's Google account and to instead make the data unusable so big tech cannot separate what is true and what is not.

How would I go about doing that?

Do I just need to sign up for random websites and give the same false information across all of them?

Also, how long does it take to make my data unusable?

As much information about how to make my data unusable as possible would be great.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks to the help of a fellow anonymous Redditor I've released a new version of RedditScrape. This new version now uses the push shift API to gather gigantic levels of data for you to download. This means we no longer need to provide any form of reddit credentials.

While the previous version was hard capped at 1,000 posts using the Reddit API, this new version has no limits at all, other than what resources and disk space you have.

For example, if you're brave enough to try and scrape something like gonewild, you'll find it takes DAYS just to get all of the data back from push shift. The JSON text alone is over 9 gigs (3.3 million posts) and climbing.

Running this is now a two step process, but results in a substantially larger set of media from your favorite subs.

Instructions can be found here. I hope I've fixed a few of the problems that people had with the first iteration along the way.

Unironically I get it.

I stumbled upon Cowboy Bebop at a very low point in my life and I got a lot of life lessons from it.

But I do disagree with the main point of the story, which is also the main point of every western ever made, that you can't escape from your past.

In cowboy bebop, all 4 characters at some point are either forced to or force themselves to confront their past selves in the form of either facing the consequences of their past actions or being haunted by people in their past. In other words, the show coveys the message that you can't escape from who you were.

I disagree with that. A long time ago I was a major cunt, I was a completely different person. One day I simply made the decision to change for the better and I burned all bridges to my old self and now, almost 10 years later, I have no strings pulling me back towards it. Some people from my past showed up and I just ignored them.

The broken people that comprise the crew of the Bebop are choosing to look at their past instead of moving on. Fae is the only one that gets it, she is the one that broke the cycle. Jet is a walking zombie, unable to save his own friend, stuck inside his own sorrow for his past life. Spike is literally incapable of moving on, he chooses to go after Vicious, he chooses to kill himself in the way he did.

Fae managed to save herself but couldn't save the other two.

Mastodon is a reformulation of Twitter so that it can be controlled by the community, not a single corporation. Instead of a single site you go to, it is a "Federation" of different sites. When you post in one, that post gets transported to any other sites that has someone who follows you. If you just want to browse around, by default and without following anyone, you'll see the posts on the site that is your home. Thus, it can be useful to find a home site that matches your interests.

I have an interest in Free/Open Source software, so I've got my teeks99 account on the fosstodon.org server. If you want to follow/mention/etc me, you can use the address @teeks99@fosstodon.org, but if you just want to see my account, you can browse to https://fosstodon.org/@teeks99.

Without leaving traces behind. What options are there exactly? Do I have any options on the normal web or do I have to start considering the deep web? It’s super important for me that the domain doesn’t lead back to me, so I need an option that doesn't leave breadcrumbs.

Large Language Models like ChatGPT or GPT-4 act as a sort of Rosetta Stone for transforming human text into machine readable object formats. I cannot stress how much of a key problem this solved for software engineers like me. This allows us to take any arbitrary human text and transform it into easily usable data.

While this acts as a major boon for some 'good' industries (for example, parsing resumes into objects should be majorly improved... thank god) , it will also help actors which do not have your best interests in mind. For example, say police department x wants to monitor the forum posts of every resident in area y, and get notified if a post meets their criteria for 'dangerous to society', or 'dangerous to others', they now easily can. In fact it'd be excessively cheap to do so. This post for example, would only be around 0.1 cents to parse on ChatGPT's API.

Why do I assert this will happen? Three reasons. One, is that this will be easy to implement. I'm a fairly average software engineer, and I could guarantee you that I could make a simple application that implements my previous example in less than a month (assuming I had a preexisting database of users linked to their location, and the forum site had a usable unlimited API). Two, is that it's cheap. It's extremely cheap. It's hard to justify for large actors to NOT do this because of how cheap it is. Three is that AI-enabled surveillance is already happening to some degree: https://jjccihr.medium.com/role-of-ai-in-mass-surveillance-of-uyghurs-ea3d9b624927

Note: How I calculated this post's price to parse:

This post has \~2200 chars. At \~4 chars per token, it's 550 tokens.
550 /1000 = 0.55 (percent of the baseline of 1k tokens)
0.55 * 0.002 (dollars per 1k tokens) = 0.0011 dollars.

https://openai.com/pricing
https://help.openai.com/en/articles/4936856-what-are-tokens-and-how-to-count-them

Why YSK: This capability is brand new. In the coming years, this will be implemented into existing monitoring solutions for large actors. You can also guarantee these models will be run on past data. Be careful with privacy and what you say online, because it will be analyzed by these models.

Hi!

I'm hoping you can help me out on finding and old project (opensource or creative commons) I recall from at least 10-15 years ago, but failed to archive it.

It was a shared, community driven (open source or licensed using creative commons templates, that is my strongest lead) effort to create a set of know-how for building a sustainable community or home from scratch. Workshop tools, farming/gardening tools, electricity, water pump systems, simple vehicles...

I think it was alive around 2007-2012, at least a decade old now. It was an ongoing effort with some content ready, some during creation.

It involved, among other things, multiple tools you could build yourself. Like, a plow you can make using a frame you made in previous step. Then it used the tools you created to make more complex tools. I think it was guiding through things like creating a workbench for metal work. Then it gave options to create a plow, then it helped creating a small tractor that could be used with that plow, then it provided other attachments for the tractor and so on.

All options were designed in a way you can use most parts of each design in other designs. Focus was for you to be able to learn how to produce a part and use same bracket, frame, tractor in other more elaborate designs.

Some content was just "in planning", being only brief table of contents mention, but many were already created and tested. There was a community around it that wrote the whole thing, designed the machines, made them and tested on their own workshops and homes.

I am certain this was a project with focus on open source (as in software programming, sharing code of the books/how-to and so on) and or it was very focused on creative commons licensing.

If that thing survived, it would be a gem here, but so far I failed to find it.

Hello selfhosted community,

A few weeks ago I searched for selfhosted task management applications, but couldn't find any that fully satisfies my needs. Some of them are too bloated, some are clunky, and some are simply too difficult to install, so I decided to create my own. It's still in early development, but I'm very happy with the few features it currently has.

Tasks.md is a task management application that uses markdown files as cards and can be installed easily with a single Docker container.

Features:

  • Create cards, lists and tags in a modern and responsive interface;
  • Write cards as Markdown files (also relaying in markdown files makes it easier to bakcup);
  • Easy to install with a single Docker image;
  • Light and dark themes synced with operating system settings;
  • Heavy customizable with 3 default color themes (Adwaita, Nord and Catppuccin);
  • Support for subpath based reverse-proxy with a environment variable for base path.

I hope this can be useful for someone!

Hello fellow selfhosters!

I am looking for a tool that automatically scans my network, lists connected devices in a nice manner (like the topology overview in ubiquiti devices for example) and ideally also does periodic speed tests to each device.

Does such a selfhosted tool exist?

Thank you in advance :)

http://www.coding2learn.org/blog/2013/07/29/kids-cant-use-computers/

Can't believe this article is 10 years old now, but still applicable to this day.

Last time I checked the awesome-selfhosted Github page, it didn't list self-hosted AI systems; so I decided to bring this topic up, because it's fairly interesting :)

Using certain models and AIs remotely is fun and interesting, if only just for poking around and being amazed by what it can do. But running it on your own system - where the only boundaries are your hardware and maybe some in-model tweaks - is something else and quite fun.

As of late, I have been playing around with these two in particular: - InvokeAI - Stable Diffusion based toolkit to generate images on your own system. It has grown quite a lot and has some intriguing features - they are even working on streamlining the training process with Dreambooth, which ought to be super interesting! - KoboldAI runs GPT2 and GPT-J based models. Its like a "primitive version" of ChatGPT (GPT3). But, its not incapable either. Model selection is great and you can load your own too, meaning that you could find some interesting ones on HuggingFace.

What are some self-hosted AI systems you have seen so far? I may only have an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and NVIDIA 2080 TI, but if I can run an AI myself, I'd love to try it :)

PS.: I didn't find a good flair for this one. Sorry!

Enhanced Search Functions

Previous search filters would not correctly apply filters to results. Search filters have been updated to use a more natural query result where Locations, Labels, and/Or Field/Value must all be matched in order for results to be returned. For example the query:

  • Locations: Home, Garage
  • Labels: IOT, Electronics

Would return items that contain the `Home` or `Garage` Location AND the have the `IOT` or `Electronics` labels.

Pinterest is honestly really great if you want to organize collections of different media from all around the web, but it sadly is another closed source walled garden.

Heinlein was a libertarian, and no such thing. Between the lines of the book, you can catch glimpses of a world where the government basically doesn't exist.

People forget when the book was written, and how progressive it was for its time.

Literally every one of Heinlein's greats have that same problem.

In Starship Troopers:

Women became starship captains.

A Filipino (whose native tongue was Tagalog) faced zero racial bias, and became an officer.

In 1959, the publication date:

The military wasn't integrated. There were no non-white officers.

Women weren't soldiers, let alone commanders of naval vessels. And nurses were only officers in the medical corps.

You can see the same things with Stranger in a Strange Land, Farnham's Freehold, and The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress. His at the time progressiveness is at the beginning (or precedes) the shift of public acceptance. All of the issues they present (sexual liberation, nontraditional relationships, acceptance of blacks as equals, polyamorous marriage, absolute requirement of consent on several levels, and basic welfare) predate the drive for these in society as a whole.

We moved because people like him moved us.

"Heinlein was a fascist" is a braindead take. Starship Troopers was on the Marine Commandant's reading list since its publication until just a few years ago for a reason. It's an introspective study of why soldiers fight.

Nah, he was a social science fiction author that postulated quite a few different types of societies. At the same time he was writing Troopers he wrote Stranger in a Strange Land, which was a counter culture icon.

His future history was concerned with religion taking over America. This was the forward to his Revolt in 2100 short story collection, written in the early 50s:

ā€œCould it be otherwise here? Could any one (religious) sect obtain a working majority at the polls and take over the country? Perhaps not — but a combination of a dynamic evangelist, television, enough money, and modern techniques of advertising and propaganda might make Billy Sunday’s efforts look like a corner store compared to Sears Roebuck.

ā€œThrow in a Depression for good measure, promise a material heaven here on earth, add a dash of anti-Semitism, anti-Catholicism, anti-Negrosim, and a good large dose of anti-ā€œfurrinersā€ in general and anti-intellectuals here at home, and the result might be something quite frightening — particularly when one recalls that our voting system is such that a minority distributed as pluralities in enough states can constitute a working majority in Washington.ā€

A bit morbid, sorry, but I sometimes wonder about this.

The majority of infamous serial killers were from the 70’s. This suggests that there was an increase in this sort of activity during this period, and this is a theory that I’ve heard repeated by others at times, and seems to be a popular concept.

My first question is; is this really the case? Or is it instead something like changes in law enforcement tactics or increased media focus made what already existed seemingly increase in frequency?

Secondly; if there was indeed an increase, are there any theories on what caused this?

Thanks

It's said that some, if not most, of Kurzgesagt's videos are influenced more or less by Bill Gate's controversial foundation (in which some said could have influenced Kurzgesagt's stance about climate change and poverty), and that they only disclose their sponsors at the very end of the video unlike most creators who does it at the very start. Here's some videos talking about Kurzgesagt being influenced by billionaires and having a controversial climate change agenda. Video 1 Video 2

Altho their astronomy and ant videos are still quite great, regardless, and they're also transparent about the fact that said science topics are just oversimplified tidbits. But in their other topics about disease and climate change, I presume we could just take them with a grain of salt

I really like this idea.. and it looks like it would run on a fanless rasp pi or similar single board computer, which could be left on 24/7/365 for relatively cheap, versus monthly hosting bills.

We need legislation to force residential serving ISPs to allow self hosting, for purposes exactly like this project, and no, not just for the pricey business service plans.

https://solidproject.org//self-hosting/css

reserved blocks. for ext4 you can see the current settings with sudo tune2fs -l <device>, it's called Reserved block count

Something like tune2fs -r <count> <device> to change the number of reserved blocks. A default format on ext4 will be 5%.

I do not remember the equivalent command for xfs, but I'm reasonably confident there is a 1:1 equivalent.

Note also that this isn't a true 1:1 to the OP, because root can write to reserved blocks, but that's kind of the point behind it: normal processes can't completely fill the disk and prevent root from doing admin tasks.

Anything that you self-hosted recently that provoked a thought like "hell, so simple, yet so useful. why haven't I found it before..."?

Lemme list a couple of things I "discovered" by myself:

- miniflux - the best self-hosted rss ever. fast (due to spartan UI), yet extensible via customized CSS and tons of extensions. Integrates nicely with Mac's Reeder and Reeder app on iOS (which is an essence of brilliant UX/UI for me).

- kanboard - extremely simple kanban board, still so powerful and elegant. An essence of extreme usefulness combined with almost no UI.

- flame - a simple dashboard. Hell, I wish I found it before - it would save me a lot of time setting up my family's bookmarks. Being able to see different set of bookmarks depending on whether you're "signed-in" or not was the game changer for me.

- metube - best tool to fetch YouTube music to feed your AzuraCast home radio

Hi all! We are proud to announce the newest major release of our self hosted website change detection and notification app, whats new? It has been a few months since last posting here about progress happening with Tube Archivist, your self hosted YouTube media server. In case you have missed it, some recent notable additions and improvements:

  • You can now archive and browse comments, wiki
  • Every video has a similar videos section, showing a selection of related videos over your index, wiki
  • There is LDAP authentication support with environment variables, as documented here
  • You can filter videos in the download queue by channel, same with the channel pages, you can see pending videos of this channel
  • Metadata snapshots, a new and better way of how to backup your metadata, deduplicated, significantly faster, and much more reliable, as documented here

And of course, let’s not forget the browser extension Tube Archivist Companion, which got basically a rewrite with v0.1.0. Download and subscribe buttons are now injected directly into the YouTube page, so very conveniently, you can send links from YouTube to Tube Archivist with just one click as you browse, see some screenshots and installation instructions here.

Last month I deleted my Instagram.

Over the past couple of years I’ve been slowly minimizing my addictive digital life bit by bit. FaceBook, Snapchat and other apps were honestly very easy for me to let go of but there was always one app I couldn’t quite get rid of..and that was Instagram. I made every excuse to keep it, telling myself that somehow it contributed to my life. Instagram is a heavily image based experience which has always appealed to me, I would get sucked into the mindless scrolling. Using it as an escape mechanism.

I haven’t been without social media in 17 years (not including YT and Reddit) since I created a MySpace account in middle school. MySpace was this brand new world for me where after school you got to maintain interaction with all of the people you knew, it was incredible. You weren’t bombarded by ads, reels and other junk. At some point everyone left MySpace to explore the new world of FB which was equally awesome at the time. But.. we started to get ads, reels and things you didn’t even subscribe to popping up on your ā€œfeedā€. Once FB bought Instagram the same thing happened. These platforms were turned into tools that use us, not the other way around.

Its been a weird few weeks following my departure from social media, being the first time since I was a kid in the 90’s where I haven’t had constant digital distraction. My brain was freaking out trying to replace it with some source of new stimulation. The best thing I’ve found is to convert that desire for stimulation into things you TRULY love doing in life and putting more time into your actual relationships. As soon as I deleted Instagram it’s like I woke from a deep slumber, confronted with so many things I had been avoiding. So many questions about myself that needed answers.

Since then I have been avidly learning a new instrument, reading lots of books, learning to cook Japanese food, exercising more, and got more focused on camping and hiking which is my favorite hobby. I wanted to write all of this because perhaps it’s something the right person needs to hear to take that scary step into the unknown and get rid of Instagram for good. Hope this helps!

I’ve been trying to spend a lot less money on things, and spend more on investing in myself and experiences & skills.

I’m wondering what the most interesting, useful and fun licenses & certifications are.

For example, getting a real estate license, a pilots license or a CPR/First aid certification.

What are some common/less common ones ones that add a lot of value to one’s life?

Thank you in advance!

Chicago is no longer in the top 10 for city gun violence

1 in 20 murders in the US happen in Chicago. It is still very much one of the worst gun violence cities. There just happen to be some cities worse than them..

https://heyjackass.com/

I mean, 26 people shot and 9 dead in the last 3 days.. 144 shot, 29 dead in 2 weeks. You can't just blow it off because it's not the worst anymore..

The company that I work for has a manager, her name is Alicia and she doesn't exist.

Alicia handles EVERYTHING.

She is accounts receivable, she is the owner of the company, she is the operations manager, warehouse manager, fleet manager, parts department. There is nothing Alicia can't handle.

She has her own direct line and email address.

Whenever an obvious solicitor that we have no business with calls, we transfer them to her voicemail (she's very busy and often out of town) and give them her email address.

She is our most valuable nonexistent employee. Everyone needs an Alicia.

TLDR: instead of selling real M Discs, Verbatim now puts their cheap organic BD-Rs into M Disc cases and charges M Disc prices for them

In July, I bought 25GB Verbatim M Discs from Amazon. Even though I bought them directly from Amazon Europe, the discs I received were not real M Discs but regular Verbatim BD-Rs with an organic layer that were made to look like M Discs. I noticed right away because the MID of the discs was VERBAT-IMe-000, which is the code for their regular BD-Rs, instead of MILLEN-MR1-000 which is the MID that all 25GB M Discs have. At this point I assumed I'd been sold fakes, but 3 months later I again ordered Verbatim M Discs, this time from German retail chain Saturn, and once again received these discs that I assumed are fakes. I emailed Verbatim's customer service and prepared a bunch of images that show these fake M Discs next to real ones. But to my surprise, after a debate with customer service they told me that these are not fakes, and that these "are the only M Discs that are going to be sold from now on" (quote). What's insane is that these discs currently being sold are not M Discs at all, but regular organic layer Verbatim BD-Rs, yet Verbatim still calls these M Disc. When I tried calling them out on their lies by pointing out things such as the discs' MID being the same as that of regular BD-Rs and the discs having 6x burn speed despite real M Discs being 4x speed, they just chucked it up to "the discs being completely reworked, and we moved production facility hence the new DISC IDs". The most ridiculous part is, these "new M Discs" (as Verbatim support calls them) are writable in any standard Blu Ray drive, you don't even need a drive that supports M Disc burning! For those unaware, M Discs require an M Disc capable drive to be burned, because M Discs need a stronger laser than what is used for regular BDs. This stronger laser is only in M Disc drives and there is no way you could ever write a real M Disc in a non M Disc drive. Yet here we have customers being sold cheap organic layer BD-Rs and being deceived into thinking they're buying M Discs.

I find this absolutely insane as people burn hundreds of these discs a day, trusting them to reliably hold precious data, yet most people aren't aware they're not burning a real M Disc, but just a garden variety BD-R that has none of the M Disc advantages that you pay for. So far the only mention of this that I've found online is a German thread from August where somebody received these same VERBAT-IMe-000 discs as me and thinks they're fake, not aware that Verbatim themselves are behind these discs.

Some stores still have real M Discs in stock, but the majority of them (at least in Germany) now sell the new, fake kind, as I've ordered M Discs from various stores over the past few weeks and 90% of the time received the new fake kind which I returned. It probably also depends on region, I have no idea about discs in the US or other countries. Check the IDs of your discs people.

Quick check:

  • A real M Disc has a copper/gold tint on the back, the new fake ones are silver

  • A real M Disc (25GB) has the MID/DISC ID: MILLEN-MR1-000, no matter what brand

  • A real M Disc only burns in a drive with M Disc support

I love Aesop Rock. The Impossible Kid is one of my favorite albums. Looking to get into more hip hop. What I listen to I really enjoy but I just don’t have the same background in hip hop as I do in rock / Americana.

Other acts I enjoy: Run the Jewels, Gang Starr.

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I was thinking if it would be worth hosting an instance of SearXNG, Invidous for Youtube and NextCloud for office and sync tasks in the same server an have them all in the page to make like an opensource alternative of what Google or major proprietary search engines do?

PS: For the email side I don't know which solutions would be good.

There needs to be a concerted effort by the entire privacy community towards data poisoning. Actual privacy is no longer attainable, but everything collected can still be made useless.

We'd also like to address some of the comments here asking "how do I extract a book from this data". r/DataHoader isn't a piracy supporting subreddit, a guide on how to extract books from these archives was purposefully left out. These torrents are presented as a preservation only archive and are not meant to aid book piracy or add books to your curated collections.

Once upon a time in this sub this explanation wouldn't have been necessary. The thread will be cleaned and comment locked.

Millions woke up to news today that Z-Library domains have been seized, cries that z-lib is gone were heard from red core to black sky!... but that's not really the case so here is what you, a humble datahoarder can do about it.

In case you missed it a unique to z-lib (deduped against LibGen) backup was made and published by u/pilimi_anna a little over a month ago. While you did a great job with SciHub, there's still work be done to ensure the preservation of all written works and cultural heritage. So here is the 5,998,794 book 27.8TB z-lib archive for you to hold, hoard, preserve, seed and proliferate.

This can be achieved with yt-dlp. You need to parse your IDs to a text file. yt-dlp can then work with this file with a batch argument (-batch-file FILENAME or smth like that). Yt-dlp then can check availability without downloading the video ( --skip-download). I think you also need to use --force-download-archive, not sure though. This post might help you: https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubedl/comments/vrqdrm/write_non_succesfull_downloads_in_text_file

I made a playlist of 1.868 songs that different subreddits consider "perfect" songs. The playlist is a mixed genre playlist of songs considered perfect by fans of the genres and artists. I have discovered new music based on their suggestions and thought I'd share.

Give me a number and I'll give you the song. If you think any songs should be added, feel free to let me know.

Free Healthcare: Doesn't even sound like a good idea on paper; in Canada the government has the power to refuse to allow doctors to treat a patient they decide it would be too expensive to treat, and often pressures such patients into doctor assisted suicides.

Gun Control: And when that doesn't work because violent people continue being violent, you institute a knife ban. And when that doesn't work.... you just ignore it entirely and divert police attention to arresting people who say offensive things on the internet. Gun Control has never solved any problem.

Hate Speech Laws: "Hate Speech" is a hilariously vague and ill-defined term that can be redefined at a moment's notice. Just ask countries like Venezuela, where it is deemed "hate speech" to speak critically of the government.

This post is intended as an overview. It's impossible to cover such a vast subject in one post, so I will outline some broad and basic points and encourage you to research further. For all details, sources, and more in-depth information, see the links in the post and the section at the end. There's full books from researchers and victims, articles/write-ups, interviews, intelligence leaks, memories/testimonies of ex-slaves and an ex-programmer, and more. All different facets of this one thing. Read them, and a clearer picture starts to form of the insanity of mind control that is running our world.

Mind control ties in with many topics; ancient history, secret societies, satanic ritual abuse, human/child trafficking, blackmail, and the New World Order. It's all related. Many have heard of MKULTRA, or MONARCH. These programs are refining and furthering complex systems of trauma-based total mind control.

Trauma-based mind control is an exploit of the brain's natural ability to dissociate, and create amnesiac walls to protect itself when faced with extreme trauma. The primary factor is the ability to dissociate (this is passed down genetically, generationally). The victims are repeatedly raped, tortured, extremely abused, and given huge repeated electroshocks. This can start at birth or while in the womb (especially with Jesuit programming). The purpose is to split and completely break the victim's mind, to give them Multiple Personality Disorder/Dissociative Identity Disorder. Using drugs, hypnosis techniques, betrayal setups, blood rituals/sacrifices, double-bind coercions, pleasure-pain reversals, and severe tortures and abuse, their mind is shattered and reprogrammed, usually with children's books, fairytales, or movie scripts (Wizard of Oz/Alice in Wonderland are two of the most used). The victims are tortured so hard as to believe they are a character from a book/movie, or an animal ("beta" sex kittens) or object. Repeated punishment/reward until the specific "alter" personality is absolutely convinced they must do what they are programmed for. They are taken to the point of death and brought back multiple times. Their minds are completely broken and rewritten with complex, multi-layered systems of different alters, internal visualizations/landscapes, colors and internal "computers" (Like the MI6 "Beast computer" system). The different programmed personalities/alters can then be called foward/switched to with the correct triggers (words/phrases/sounds/hand gestures) that they were programmed with. These split personalities are not aware of each other. There will be a huge number of cover/front personalities, secret codes, structures, reporting alters, mirror alters, gatekeepers, buffers, and alters that do other "jobs", the list goes on. It is a very complex system, that checks on itself. There will be many programs "installed" into the victim. There are silence/no-talk programs, such as "The Rite to Remain Silent", or "remember the flowers".

"Another setup is ā€œremember the flowersā€œ: the child is taken to a garden at the monastery where he/she has spent times chatting with their favorite Jesuit Father in the past. There is a water pool in the middle of the garden, and during this setup, it is filled with corpses of children the same age as the young child (ages 2 or 3). The Father cuts a flower, gives it to the child and tells the child to ā€œremember the flowersā€ (i.e. the dead children who remembered and told others)."

Insanity, pain, and suicide programs are put in, if the victim begins to remember. These internal systems are usually structured in an occult fashion, with "demon alters", ancient languages used, and "esoteric" or "spiritual" imagery.

"The controllers for the white spiritual systems will be in place, since the infant will have internalized these through virtual reality, holograms, and dramatic enactments of the ā€œdeitiesā€ by actors. The white spiritual systems include:

  • Egyptian deities

  • Babylonian deities

  • Ancient (pre-Babylonian) deities

  • Druidic deities

These are headed up by the white, or Greek, Pantheon of twelve deities. Each system will have specific traumas attached to it. For instance, Bel, the head of the Babylonian system, will undergo a ritual where he is pierced through with tiny golden needles throughout his body (Babylonian sun ritual). Astarte will have sexual rituals, and Ashtoth will have death rituals associated with him. The black (Vatican) spiritual systems are also being organized and trained from 12 to 14 months after birth."

  • Svali

"Mengele always installed the Q’Ballah in those he worked with, and he installed it into Jesuit systems as well. Althea, or the ā€œTree of Lifeā€ is the basis, with the three cords (white, black, grey) roots entwined and going back to the systems described above. An important part of q’ballah (black Kabbalah) programming is the creation of 'demonic portals'. These are installed at points known as the sephiroth in the body and above it. There will be death rituals, and 'demonic entities' attached to each of these points."

  • Svali

High-voltage electroshock (stun guns/cattle prods/etc.) is a big part of mind control, to create dissociation, to remove memories, and as punishment. This continues through their life as "reinforcement", or to reprogram them (there are also vans equipped for mobile reprogramming/"tune-ups"). After giving instructions, the programmer will give a high voltage shock to the base of the skull to embed them deep in their subconscious.Ā Hypnotic cues are used with the shock. They may tell them they are "now going over the rainbow", or to "other side of the mirror" or "through the looking glass", referring to the completely dissociated state, not seen as real by the victim's mind. The "levels" of programming are modelled on the different brainwave states.

ALPHA - General/regular programming within the base personality. Alpha is more relaxed, and accessing systems/presentations will be created in this state.

BETA - Normal, alert. Used for "sexualā€ programming. An early sexual abuse event will be used to anchor this programming. This programming eliminates all learned moral convictions and stimulates the primitive sexual instinct, devoid of inhibitions. ā€œCatā€ alters may come out at this level.

DELTA - The deepest brain state, will hold (semi-) unconscious beliefs. Usually where assassin/killer/soldier programming is, and extremely deep death state programming. Self-destruct/suicide instructions are layered in at this level.Ā Delta state will often hold memory files (coded based upon security level), as well as internal programming and punishment files for the alters.

"The primary symbol for Delta mind control slave programming is a NIKE RED 'TIC'. NIKE is also known as Artemis and is seen as the huntress. Illuminati slaves are hideously abused and tortured into fight/flight syndrome - this memory is then frozen in time, into their cellular memory/muscles - to be accessed only by a programmer. It is mainly military programming but has also been used in various sports."

  • Ex MI6

"The Delta 'computer' system will have a ground zero state, with delta controllers and introjected trainers ā€œmanningā€ the computer systems. At ground zero, primary traumas and death state programming are installed, to prevent dismantling of the 'computer'c system and to keep the child invested in protecting high-security information."

  • Svali

"The MI6/Illuminati demonic rites are all about solar eclipses and sunspots and in connection with the planet Saturn, the Royal planet, the Roman Saturnalia god. You have to ā€˜see through the moon’ in Delta programming i.e. ā€˜go to the centre of the earth’ in a visualisation and end up on the ā€˜dark side of the moon’, courtesy of MI6 COSMOS programming."

  • Ex MI6

THETA - Low-energy brainwave state, psychic ability is often seated here. Bloodliners (from multi-generational Satanic families) were determined to exhibit a greater propensity for having unusual abilities than non-bloodliners.

"Theta brainwave level is the lowest level of human consciousnes, which the Templars use to create mind control slaves. They implant their sea god and goddess visualisations into the minds of their slaves, at this level (as well as the 'figure of 8' the Octopus of the MI6 CAROUSEL programming)."

  • Ex MI6

OMEGA - Internal computers and ā€œself-destructā€ programming put in here, also known as ā€œCode Green.ā€

GAMMA - A high-energy wavestate, and may be where loyalty to cult/group programming is located. A form of system protection is through ā€œdeceptionā€ programming, which elicits misinformation and misdirection. This level is intertwined with demonology.

Many child alters stay at the age when first traumatized/created, and when that alter is called up, they revert mentally to that age/intelligence again.

"Humpty Dumpty's evil speech to Alice about how she can remain at her age - just under 8 years old forever...'two can'...this is TOUCAN programming - the creation of 'child alters' frozen in time, through extreme torture. "One can't, perhaps,' said Humpty Dumpty; 'but two can. With the proper assistance you might have left off (growing up) at seven.' "

  • Ex MI6

Some alters are created while drugged, and when called up, they feel the effects again. The same with tortured alters (like fire tortures or tech tortures), they will actually feel the pain again. Some programmers install death programs.

"Atrial Fibrillation is normally induced in Illuminati victims and then 'frozen' into the muscles of their heart. This horrific experience can then be called up by the programmer, where necessary to make the slave comply."

  • Ex MI6

Programmers use movies to confuse victims as to what is reality and what isn't. In altered states, slaves are forced to watch movies for "screen memories". If they begin to remember, the screen memories/"scramble programs" come up. Layers of cover images and visualizations will be put in to cover the identities of the programmers or what took place.

"KATSAV - CATS EYES - the usual mind control programming image, used to protect the top master programmers. The SAATCHIS AND LOWRYS used this to hide behind."

  • Ex MI6

Mind control is self-propagating, victims are programmed to mind-split their own children. Most programmers are themselves programmed by others.

"I have seen Jeffrey (Epstein) get veryĀ severely ritually abused, I have seen him strappedĀ to chairs with these straps across his face likeĀ a gas mask and being tortured, literally screaming and yelling. It was Jeffrey, he becameĀ a handler, they manufactured him as well and he became a handler. He was basicallyĀ a fall guy and a front guy for them, he was controlled too, and I don’t think a lot ofĀ people realize that."

There are many military bases/labs with advanced technology to program slaves.

Full D.U.M.B. post

They use high tech programming along with the blood rituals/traumas, using "trip-seats", sensory deprivation tanks, virtual reality/holograms, harmonics, implants/microchips, brain scanning, negative sound rooms, high-tech machines used to program in specific beliefs and responses, and other sophisticated electronic hardware-based hypnosis machines.

"ā€˜Little screws in space’ This is MI6 COSMOS mind control programming. They use artificial reality to make a recruit believe that they are really weightless and in the depths of outer space – rather like those water tanks used for therapy. The ā€˜screws’ or ā€˜nuts’ are then put in i.e. the programming commands and ā€˜alters’ whilst the recruit is in an altered state of reality i.e. using different brainwave patterns."

  • Ex MI6

"These programs can be activated using hypnotic triggers such as key words and phrases and patterns with certain and long radio waves that activate tiny microchips injected in the body."

  • James Casbolt

"For years, the cults have been aware of Tesla waves and its applications to create changes within tissue that rival microwave and laser, but with greater energy. Eventually in the mid-1990’s, a machine was developed that was able to use Tesla waves and microbursts of energy to change brain waves and develop internal resonance within the brain. This technology was further developed, and eventually was used to create deep stimulation of the neural pain centers during programming. This type of tech torture creates agonizing pain throughout the neural chain, and is used as the base for modern pain and punishment systems that guard high-security information inside. Various waveforms are created to create pain and terror through direct stimulation of the pain areas; the terror areas, or the despair areas within the brain. Entrainment is used in combination with this type of torture. In a typical session, the individual is placed in a machine (called the ā€œGod machineā€ by some groups), which appears as clear plastic. Inside, the individual is surrounded by a holographic screen that appears when the programming session is active. Their brain scans are continuously displayed for the programmers to view, in order to see when the programming ā€œtakesā€ (there are specific changes in the brain scans that occur when this happens). The entrainment will begin over several hours at a time, with various tones that reflect brain states played in a sequence. In one example, the tones for gamma, beta, alpha, epsilon, theta and delta, then deep delta and death state are played in sequence, and the individual being programmed is slowly entrained to ā€œfollowā€ the tones, and go from one brain state to another in sequence. Very gradually, the tones become more rapid, until the brain is entrained and taught to perform a very rapid drop from high gamma (or even omicron) state, to deep delta or even death state. This rapid drop in brain state creates a sense of ā€œfallingā€ or ā€œdroppingā€ in the parts (often infants or fetuses) being programmed, and is extremely painful, creating terror in the parts that undergo it. The entrainment takes weeks and months to be programmed in fully."

Many children's books are produced by llluminati-controlled publishers for programming ("you are what you read"). The ISBN numbers are the actual access codes programmed into their internal mind computer systems, and the books depict (coded/symbolic) what that alter is programmed to do. Illuminati coding (and the whole mind control system) is all about literary puns and symbolism.

"MI6 like to mind control program their slaves with the RaW Library QUICK READS selection too - look at either the ISBN numbers or programming numbers in the front to work out the general Illuminati lessons within each book - very few books have no programming numbers, a refreshing oddity to find one which doesn't."

  • Ex MI6

"For those who are new to Illuminati programming, the first book you should look at is:

FROG - BARRIE WADE/BARRIE WATTS

FRANKLIN WATTS 2003

This tells the evil little tale told to Illuminati boys at a very young age, it is all about how one's memories of cult abuse are synonymous with the TAIL of a TADPOLE. As you get older, survive the various brainwashings (that invariably involve drownings and OBES/NDES), you develop 'lungs', come up for air and your TAIL drops off. The Crossword Fiends at MI6 love this one - YOUR TALE/TAIL drops off i.e. your memories of Illuminati cult abuse are no more. They simply don't exist. Such is the brainwashing power of the Illuminati cult. Those of you who are more advanced in this subject - here are some more notes on FROG: This is a RECOUNT TEXT in that it is used for programming reinforcement upon abused child alters of grown men: 'This is how you were born, little tadpole...in a large test tube with a whole load more sperm which had been 'doctored' by us...you were just a BLACK SPOT in jelly...and you grew and grew until one day: Now, after twelve weeks, I am a frog. BOING!'

BOING in Illuminati cult-speak means total disassociation through anal rape and/or extreme torture. This is often experienced as an NDE/OBE where the person's 'I' floats free of their body. This 'I' can then be trained to remote-view for military operations."

  • Ex MI6

"Here are the mind control codes for the Templars of Prince Philip's Illuminati cult. They 'run' an 8 year-old boy alter who believes himself to be a young Arabic Prince of ancient times: TUTANKHAMEN. You can find all the codes as ISBN numbers (what else, with MI6?) in the following book:

THE DANGER ZONE: AVOID BEING TUTANKHAMUN!

David Stewart

1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2

THE SALARIYA BOOK COMPANY LTD.

Richard Tomlinson and other Templars, had all been put through Mummy programming i.e. the golden mask of Tutankhamen. This was part and parcel of the demonic Babylonian rite of Marduk, who supposedly wore a 'golden mask' and armour. They were then forced to worship Akhenaton, who was in fact Mr. Lowry."

  • Ex MI6

Secret societies have known about trauma-based mind control since ancient times. This has been going on long before MKULTRA/MONARCH. These "black magic" secrets of creating mind controlled "golems" (the real meaning) and slaves, this knowledge, has been guarded by occult societies throughout history.

"The Mystery Religions of ancient Egypt, Greece, India and Babylon helped lay the foundation for occultism, meaning ā€œhidden knowledge.ā€ One of the earliest writings giving reference to occultism is the Egyptian Book of the Dead, a compilation of rituals explicitly describing methods of torture and intimidation (to create trauma), the use of potions (drugs) and the casting of spells (hypnotism), ultimately resulting in the total enslavement of the initiate."

  • Ron Patton

"Alters are the product of mind-splitting. They are the fragmented soul of 'I' of a person. During torture, a person can OBE (out of body experience) because the NDE (near death experience) ensures this. The mistaken belief of the Monarchists was that they could mind-split and trap their 'alters' into rocks, flasks, bottles (any sort of container really) - rather like the old magicians of folkloric legends i.e. Arabian Nights...or the many magi in the bible/Torah. Read the Book of Daniel for a blow-by-blow account of how the King of Babylon created 'sons of god' and remote viewers from his Hebrew slaves."

  • Ex MI6

MKULTRA/MONARCH and the projects before it (CHATTER, SPELLBINDER, ARTICHOKE and others) are continuations of the Nazi experiments (which were continuations of research by the groups behind the Nazis). Many scientists/Illuminati torturers were brought into the US after the war through Operation Paperclip or other means. Otto Skorzeny and George H.W. Bush (George Scherff, Jr.) were instrumental in merging Nazi (SS) intelligence with the OSI to form the CIA, with "Wild Bill" Donovan and Allen Dulles. Paperclip got the meticulously documented Nazi mind control data and scientists from the concentration camps. Many were programmed by "Dr. Green", who was Josef Mengele.

"Josef Mengele is considered ā€œthe father of modern programmingā€ due to the information and methods that he developed during his infamous end-point (trauma that takes the subject to physical or psychological death) experiments on infants, young children and adults inside the Nazi death camps. After the second world war, Mengele was often flown to Europe to program infants. He was also hired out at times to other organizations, but his primary post-war work was continuing his research and programming international occultic agents from infancy. The volumes and volumes of carefully documented research data are still held within occultic training libraries, and have been replicated and shared throughout the world. The research that he began is still ongoing, as the search for better, ā€œunbreakableā€ methods of programming continues."

The ability to easily dissociate enters the genetic memory of a family. Aristocratic, "royal", and "bloodline" families have generations of mind control rituals/abuse in their genetic memory.

"This was the original MKULTRA Nazi ideal: Western countries as hive societies, run by the sickest and most deluded people on the planet i.e. all of those 'inbreds' like the Royal Family (UK), the Rockefellers (USA), the Katsavs (Israel) and so on - those descended from slave-driving families who have kept the evil torch of slavery in this world alive today."

  • Ex MI6

"The Royal slave trade, the creation of 'mind control smugglers' (Royal Arch RA CULT) and the various Satanic trades, involving the Royal Genome project and the accompanying hideous trades e.g. human sperm/eggs/zygotes. Sure, they practise Satanic rites, but the esoteric shit is just a cover for a massive mind control slave market, zygote market and child trafficking ring."

  • Ex MI6

There are many groups and organizations using mind control. Government agencies (CIA, NSA, FBI, NASA, MI5, MI6, MOSSAD, etc.), and different orders (Jesuits, Illuminati, Freemasons, Royal Arch Masons, Shriners, Royal Order of Jesters, P2, Rosicrucians, Knights Templar, etc.) all use mind control. Governments (and the secret societies that run them) use the cover of "National Security" to hide these horrific crimes. There's a huge overlap between intelligence and secret societies. They all have their own codes, which can be stolen, and slaves/agents can be reprogrammed by others.

"Why 1994? Because this was the year when MI6/Illuminati laptops began to disappear in Europe. Mr Putin was beginning to work it all out and as a consequence, was tracking down the MI6 Senior Officers who held the colour-coded information of the tailored mind control programmes for their officers and agents..."

  • Ex MI6

"Stella Rimington decided to use one of her own agents (in 1989) to steal the MI6 mind control code book. With this knowledge (which included her own codes) she managed to not only break out of the system but also to potentially control it from the outside."

  • Ex MI6

Countless victims are used in sex slavery, prostitution, and "presidential models" (presidential sex slaves). Many are Delta programmed to be assassins and "Manchurian candidates".

By scarring the brain stem, it was found they could create people with photographic memories. All slaves are programmed to be "computer brains" and "robot people", but some are special "mind file computers" for top secret information, or "carrier pigeons" for messages (that can't be remembered/accessed without the right triggers/keys/codes), and are fed huge amounts of information while drugged/hypnotized, which is recorded in the subconscious.

"I was taken from chairs that performed different operations, like one that spun, then next to an isolation chamber. They put huge eye machines up to my face and had me close one eye and then the other in order to program each side of the brain separately. Some things were then reversed and programmed into another area of my brain through the opposite eye. They called this "cross-programming." For other functions, both sides of my brain had to be operating syncronistically. Information for mind file use was stored only on one side of my brain. At first I was shown slides of nature scenes like flowers with bees on them and then they began flashing technical slides with pictures of moon landings, instrumentation information, satellite diagrams, craft designs, mathematical equations and all sorts of technical information. There were slides of page after page of numbers, formulas and diagrams of assembly information for certain projects."

  • Brice Taylor

Many are used for high-level drug running. Intelligence agencies run the global drug trade. Billions of dollars of "black ops" drug money ("non-appropriated funds") are used to fund "above top secret" projects, including building/maintaining D.U.M.B.s. The CIA uses the country music industry as a cover for drug running done via slaves.Ā MI6 programmed agent's smuggling alters with the book "Three Men in a Boat".

" 'Smelly Cheeses’ is programmed in via the reading and enactment of ā€˜Three Men in a Boat’. Every Illuminati script carries words in CAPITALS which make no sense to an outsider unless they are given the ā€˜true meaning’ behind their usage. Read Chapter 4 of ā€˜Three Men in a Boat’ to find out the precise programming which is couched in CAPITALS of: ā€˜NO CHEESES’. It relates how it is most important whilst traveling and carrying ā€˜smelly cheeses’, not to touch the goods; nor afterwards, once one has arrived at one’s destination! All smugglers are most worried about the safety of their drugs/contraband and therefore this ruling was the one which was drummed in with the most amount of ECT programming."

  • Ex MI6

Spies/agents are all programmed, it's a requirement for top secret jobs.

"The world's Intelligence agencies are infiltrated and controlled by 'Royal Arch' Freemasons who owe their loyalty not to the State but to Illuminati (Masonic) bankers, posing as the 'Crown' or 'Monarchy.' Most agents are tortured, i.e. trauma brainwashed and mind controlled using trigger words from texts like 'Alice in Wonderland.' "

  • Ex MI6/Royal Arch slave

"Forget about James Bond movies; much of the secret service apparatus in the U.K and U.S is an occult, paedophile network run by corrupt factions of the ā€œIlluminatedā€ degrees of Freemasonry (33rd degree and above). Everything in Project Mannequin is organized by the Jewish kabala occult system, using such esoteric methods as numerology and archeometry (advanced remote viewing). The people running the AL/499 facility in Berkshire and the connected underground bases are a hard-line military regime that is ultimately a religious cult centred around the corrupt Zionists and Rosicrucians. These places are religious centres where so-called ā€˜black magick’ rites are performed, ancient deities worshipped, and children trained and sacrificed."

Many are used for blackmail. Child slaves are used to compromise people on video.

Full blackmail post

"They deliberately split off the personalities of these children into multiples, so that when they're put under oath or questioned under lie detector, unless the operator knows how to question a multiple-personality disorder, they turn up with no evidence. They used these kids to sexually compromise politicians or anyone else they wish to have control of."

  • Noreen Gosch (Johnny Gosch's mother, Franklin Boys)

"Beryl-Green said Epstein knew about MKULTRA. He was into mind-controlling victims and satanic ritual abuse (SRA). Epstein was into DNA mixing, human cloning and he knew about New World Order plans."

Mind control is one of the biggest parts of the New World Order. They count on people not understanding this or how it works. Many are programmed with "end-times"/"Janus"/"Alex" or "Alexis" functions for future events.

The film/music industry/Hollywood is filled with MONARCH slaves. Most top celebrities, mainstream musicians, actors/actresses, and athletes are under mind control. Marilyn Monroe was the archetypal "Beta sex kitten" prototype. The videos of celebrities acting very strange is their programming breaking down/switching alters at the wrong time. Memories may start returning due to natural changes in the brain around 30 years of age ("27 club"). Many are killed ("thrown from the freedom train") if they start talking/becoming too dangerous to their programmers (Kurt Cobain's "friends in my head"). Many movies reference this mind control. Some of the many MKULTRA/MONARCH symbols found in media include the butterfly (transformation/'floating' from ECT), mirrors (MPD/DID), broken mirrors (shattered minds), dolls/marionettes (puppets, controlled slaves), animal/leopard print ('beta' sex kitten alters), rainbows (over the rainbow), black/white checkerboard (masonic), porcelain faces/masks (alter personalities), lightning bolts (electroshock). Big sports are all rigged. Huge amounts of money are made from "gambling" on games played by "robots".

Genetic research is a highly related to mind control.

Full Alice in Wonderland post

"Those of us who understand 'Alice in Wonderland' mind control will know that these women all have 'child alters' which will have been taught to respond to certain programming commands from especially designed programming texts. For the unenlightened, I am talking about the Royal Genome Project. The use and abuse of women as enslaved zygote-donors, facilitated and implemented by MI6. They would be used for their zygotes (fertilised eggs) in order to continue the research of the Royal cult i.e. the Nazi, eugenics project. The women to be used are called MI6 'bees'. In Alice mind control programming, they were to be used for their 'honey' (see the insect who accosts Alice in the wood, to ask her if she has any honey). One of the 'esoteric' practices of MI6 was to have this woman repeatedly raped by the chosen sperm donor in order to get her pregnant. After a short amount of time (enough to check that she had been 'fertilised'), they would then break into her living quarters and force her to abort."

  • Ex MI6

Many are used as terrorists, programmed to be mass killers and suicide bombers.

"We were agents of chaos and anarchy, programmed to provoke civil unrest and the need for greater State security measures."

  • Ex MI6

There's a lot of dis/misinformation. Bots/glows/shills parrot damage-control narratives that MKULTRA was just dropping LSD on agents/filming people with prostitutes. They say none of it's real, or say these programs failed, or that it was all in the past. None of that is true. This mind control is how the world is really run, to this day. Most of the politicians, leaders, presidents, and public figures you see are programmed, and millions of "regular" victims. The people running our world are in insane, extremely abused child alters much of the time.

"The fact is that they are NOT adults in their own minds. They are abused, crazed, tiny children - a product of mind-splitting and Illuminati mind control programming. It also doesn't help that these people are at the top of the Masonic system worldwide and control freemasonry globally, via mind control. If I were to take the piss out of them - then one needs look no further than American McGee's Alice (a pisstake itself, upon Alice in Wonderland mind control programming) for the right type of images e.g. where one sees those little children with epilepsy headgear on - beating themselves, giggling, laughing, moaning, crying - unable to transform the prisons of their own minds and to recover from such abuse."

He talked about a lot of stuff before it was common knowledge or accepted truth.

He predicted Osama Bin Laden would be blamed for a major terrorist attack in the US a month before it happened.

He talked about Saudi involvement in 9-11 before it was cool to do so.

He was against the Iraq War and the War on Terror generally when it was very unpopular to do so.

He didn't just decide to like Bush because he was conservative and beat Clinton's successor.

He spoke out about the Patriot Act and Guantanamo Bay.

He was talking about warrantless dragnet wiretapping before it was accepted as fact and considered mainstream knowledge.

He was talking about Epstein long before most people.

Talked about microchipping a long long time ago and it's just being pushed now.

He exposed what was going on at Bohemian Grove before anyone knew about it.

He was talking about the secretive Bilderberg meetings long before anyone.

He got a lot of people to question official narratives in general and open their eyes to forms of corruption that often go unnoticed and unmentioned.

I spent the last week peering into my scrying mirror in darkness and now I have come with a new set of predictions. Some of those are not immediate, but once you have the roadmap you should be able to notice the path within a few weeks.

The downward trend of US markets will accelerate especially in the next three months due to persistent inflation. We are weeks away from the hard landing the fed has been trying to avoid for so long. The irony of the situation is that in their attempt to engineer a soft landing they not only fueled inflation but also missed their window of opportunity for geopolitical stability.

There will be social turmoil due to the deterioration of financial conditions. More violence, homelessness, mobs of looters raiding stores. There will be widespread anger, fear, and desire for strong leadership. SCOTUS will continue to serve the agenda it was intended to serve and enable US to become an autocracy by 2024.

A nuke will go off in Ukraine within a month. It's not going to target any population centers or be used to clear the front lines, instead it'll be used to destroy a military facility in western Ukraine used by NATO to transfer equipment and train Ukrainians. The west will respond with cyber warfare and sabotages within Russia but avoid direct military response. There will be immense panic in Ukraine and another huge wave of refugees. Zelensky will be ousted and continue as a CIA asset government in exile like Dalai Lama.

Just like how Elizabeth saw the dissolution of the colonial empire Charles will see the dissolution of the united kingdom. UK will continue to get fucked by incompetent Tory leadership and will be worse off economically than US and EU. It's going to be the first developed country to regress into a developing country. Scotland will leave to join EU. Irish unification within two years.

Europe is going to be paying the bills of its mistakes for the foreseeable future. Euro will get devalued and and the living standards will get much worse. Production will take a huge hit from energy troubles and imported goods will become much more expensive. EU will stay but its going to shed its current Brussels bureaucrat image for survival.

China and Russia, both will stay the hellholes that they already are. Neither Xi nor Putin are going anywhere anytime soon. They will continue to decouple from the US both in the use of dollars and in technology, but will be too inefficient and corrupt to make significant progress. Russian leadership will continue falling deeper into occultism.

COVID will persist. New antibody-resistant variants will emerge and it'll continue having its waves, together with other respiratory illnesses. Mask mandates will be back occasionally but other than that people will just continue living with it, with increased mortality overall and especially in children and elderly.

This is all negative and some of you will ask what conspiracy is at play here and who are the dark shadowy people behind it. The forces at work here are inhuman. There is an actual ancient evil that is ingrained into all life on earth, it whispers its influence into all thoughts and actions, and it's not something that can be really revealed to people who have not learned to distinguish its voice. Its influence on one can be tamed through mindfulness and the best we can do in our lives is becoming able to notice it, taming it within ourselves, and becoming truly compassionate people.

Yanis Varoufakis on how we are living in a post-capitalist techno feudal cloud-driven dystopia:

Yanis Varoufakis: But if I may just add one last vignette which I think i'm sure you would want to take further. Things are worse than what you're saying because yes technologies apps and so on have been used to robotize human beings and make them turn them into a precarious again. However why am I saying that things are worse because now exploitation has really become universal. Uf you think about it every time anybody posts anything on facebook or tweets um or goes into Amazon and posts a review you're adding capital to the capitalists directly.

.. and even by telling google maps where you are and what you're doing at that moment you're adding to google's capital and you don't get paid for it. So you've got big tech , you've got the platforms that you mentioned. Robotizing the workers in their warehouses and shop floors but also finding remarkable ways of exploiting the rest of us those who are not working directly for them to produce direct capital for them.

And one last thing to think of, Alexa right or google assistant um you know this machine is absolutely remarkable in terms of the effect it has had on the system we live uh and it's a I it really is a sign of the of the times to come of what I call techno feudalism because think about what it is it's a machine where you supposedly you're you tell it to do things for you so you you ask it to order milk or to order cookies or to switch on the lights to follow your orders right.

But what it really does is this it's the top end the the front end of a cloud-based network, where the machine is trained by you so that the system, this cloud-based system can train you to want what the manufacturing capacity of that same machine wants you to buy. (15:38)

Some people believe the internet as we know it is on borrowed time.

For now, you can still create anonymous email and social media accounts.

It seems like this is slowly but surely becoming more difficult and time-consuming.

For example, I recently created an instagram account, because you need to be logged in to see posts now.

They wanted my mobile number and a selfie (of me holding a piece of paper with a special code on it).

For now, you can create an online merchant website and sell just about whatever you like.

Physical items, digital products, online courses, membership-based website access, the list goes on.

A regular person can buy / offer these and more via paypal, stripe, and other platforms (for a fee).

The recent paypal 'mistake' (?) regarding fining customers for 'disinformation' raises eyebrows.

Will we soon find ourselves with fewer and fewer options for offering / buying non-PC goods and services?

In short, I'm asking: How much time do we have left?

Is the paypal thing just a distraction, part of a fear-based pysop, disgined to have a 'chilling effect'?

Do we still have years if not decades to go with the internet more or less as it exists today?

Or are we seeing the beginning of the end of the internet as we know (knew) it?

Over to you. Cheers in advance for all thoughtful responses šŸ™

Might be an odd question, but..

Is there any way to date online with some modicum of privacy? Having to sign up to services with your name, phone number, pictures, location, etc. is a real turn-off as I'm sure the "free" services are making money off your data. I'm guessing paid services aren't much better, since they'll have your payment details as well.

But say you fake that information. Then comes the point where you actually match / meet up with someone, and then you have to explain how basically everything they matched with you on is a lie. At best, I imagine this would be a huge red flag for the average person. Maybe you can explain the privacy reasons behind it and they'd be understanding, but this seems like a long shot.

Is there any winning here? Or is it really just a choice between being alone or compromising your privacy to find companionship?

Liquid drain cleaner, 4 gallons. Use two with sodium nitrate to synthesize nitric acid after it's been distilled. Chemistry shit is cheap enough and not really suspicious. Distill all four gallons for your sulfuric, use half for your nitric. Phenol is real cheap, especially in liquid solutions of ~20%.

What are some of the most heavy libertarian/freedom/capitalism themed animes you've watched? Why?

the .950 JDJ Fat Mac. It is a 100 pound, 5 foot long rifle that shoots a one pound solid brass bullet at 2200 FPS. It is a non-NFA item only because the ATF gave it a sporting exemption as a joke as if anybody is going to hunt with this. This round would be overkill for hunting blue whales.

I would like to paint a picture for you. It's 2AM and you hear a window break in your living room. This is the worst day this could happen, as every single one of your guns was lost in a tragic boating accident this morning. All were lost except for one. You look across your room in dread at your anti-kaiju rifle. You know what you have to do, but you don't know if you have the strength to do it, both literally and figuratively.

Heaving the rifle into your arms, you load a .950 cartridge and begin to waddle towards the door. Your feet make a loud ā€œthudā€ as you take each 6″ step. You know the intruders hear you. You hope they do, for perhaps they will run and spare the world the suffering that is about to befall it.

You try to set the rifle down, but end up clipping your bedroom door and it is immediately knocked off its hinges by this battering ram in your hands. You attempt to round the corner, bonking the muzzle against the doorframe and adjacent wall across the hall at least 4 times. To your horror, two invaders stand there at the end of the hall.

With a heavy heart, you raise the rifle to your shoulder while making inhuman grunting noises from the strain of attempting some semblance of a shooting position. The burglars simply stare in disbelief, unable to process the situation they are witnessing, as if in a dream. You cannot aim the rifle, as the last time you fired the gun, it turned your $3000 Leopuld into a kaleidoscope. You simply hold it at an angle that appears correct and fire.

You are immediately knocked to the floor as if hit by a semi truck going 20 MPH. The shot connected with one of the criminals and it erased him from existence. Even the memories of him have been destroyed and you're wondering why you just shot into an empty hallway. The shot continues to travel through at least 4 houses, a car, and a 10 ton boulder before lodging itself 20 feet into a nearby hill, never to be seen again.

It is at this point, you realize you cannot hear. The surviving burglar can't hear either but he's also on fire from the muzzle blast and is currently vacating your home. You don't care. Your shoulder is dislocated and there is a hole in your brand new AR500 refrigerator. You're crying now. The police arrive and, upon seeing the scene, start laughing. You start crying harder.

Of those one huge channel with 6000 videos over the past 12 years was recently deleted. Still, a seemingly safe gaming channel has had about a dozen videos either privated/unlisted or deleted (some due to newly added age verification hits)

I do not wish to disclose the exact channels/videos, these videos will soon end up on archive_dot_org. Though it's a warning to you: add all your subbed and favorite channels to a daily youtube-dl (yt-dlp) download.

If you subbed to too many channels to create a list manually: create a Google Takeout for the youtube profile you're using, set the smallest archive size. The first archive will contain a CSV with subscriptions.

EDIT, Sep 27th: To be completely honest, I should add that I specifically archived some political channels that were at risk. In that sense, my high percentage of vanished videos is a good KPI of my archival choices.

The Ministry of Truth reminds all comrades that the political parties switched names at a date which changes depending on the circumstances.

In the future, remember that everything bad was the fault of Republicans and everything good was the result of Democrats.

I am a single guy in my mid-30s. I have never been in a love relationship before. But I really desire to be in one.

I tend to feel jealous whenever I see couples in real life or in social media.

All of my peers in my social circle have already found their love partners, got married and settled down with children. And it makes me feel sad that I have not been able to meet my partner yet. It makes me feel like I am an abnormal person incapable of attracting a love partner.

It really makes me feel sad when I watch videos of people proposing to their partners. People have already moved past the dating and relationship phase and advancing to family life phase. It makes me ponder when it will be my turn to experience romance in my life. I can't help feeling jealous of them.

Most people out there seem to be getting into relationships quickly and easily (even if they ended their current relationship, they are able to find the next love partner within a short period of time). On the other hand, I wonder why it is so hard for me to even find a single partner.

My jealousy is not the type that I wish harm to befall on those people, rather it is more of just a deep yearning of why I can't be like them.

There is a social media channel whereby the owner of the channel will randomly interview people in public asking about their love life. Majority of them say that they met their spouse in high school/ college, fell in love and have been married since. Most of them attended their high school prom with their spouse. It seems that most people meet their life partners at their early age. It seems like life has been nicely placed for them to live happily.

I have tried being happy for other couples. Whenever I see a couple in real-life or in social media, I will mentally say "I am happy for the couple who are in a loving relationship. I hope to find a loving partner like them in the future." But, after seeing the 100th couple or so, it gets very overwhelming for me. I am wishing others for happiness, but when will be the time when I get to experience that happiness for myself?

People use this phrase often "You should be comfortable with being alone first." But I doubt that many of the people who are in already in a relationship are really comfortable with being alone.

I just feel like Lady Luck is helping other people in this world to meet their love partners and the same Lady Luck is ignoring me and my desire to be in a love relationship.

As age passes by, I am starting to feel more fear. Fear that I will not get to experience a romantic relationship in my life at all. Fear that I will remain a single person in my whole life. I feel like I'm an unwanted person who is being disliked by everyone in this world.

Here is what I would like to work upon myself:

How can I stop feeling sad from not being in a romantic relationship?

I mean it's not a guarantee that I will still find a love partner even after practicing all the required dating skills etc. I just feel that it is more practical to learn how to stop feeling sad from not being in a romantic relationship instead. At least, I can try to live my single life happy.

I wrote this long post so that I can share the different feelings that I have associated with the lack of romantic relationship. If readers have any advice regarding those points, please do share in the comments.

I look forward to your advices and opinions.

Thank you.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your comments.

The Universe: ok so here's a book that lets you k-

Light Yagami: murder is cool when I do it

The Universe: Um... wow. Well, the book also makes you see this literal demon who thinks this all is very entertaining and cool.

Light Yagami: still gonna kill a lot of people

The Universe: The book confirms the existence of everlasting and infinite heaven/hell, you know this right?

Light Yagami: yeah

The Universe: And also that anyone who uses this book cannot go to heaven?

Light Yagami: not with this many murders lol

I thought it might be simulated too, but someone posted this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPGIuSCxEFs If you skip to around 18 mins you see something similar.

Not gonna happen.

Data brokers like LexisNexis ingest and correlate a ton of information about individuals. Access to this information is theoretically tightly controlled, and restricted to organizations like law enforcement, skip tracers, PIs, debt collectors, and so on. Joe Consumer can't just go sign up for an account and start digging. That's just one commercial data broker. In addition, law enforcement agencies typically have their own databases that they rely on. There are low rent alternatives like FastPeopleSearch and Intelius that give you far less information with varying degrees of accuracy, but that's a little like comparing a 95 Honda Civic hatchback with a faded "TYPE R" sticker to, I dunno, an F15.

However, if you ever get the opportunity, seeing your own report is fascinating. For a typical adult expect 50+ pages of information. It's not just raw data, but carefully correlated information to paint a picture of who (and what) you are. I haven't used LexisNexis in years but you may be able to hire a PI to pull your data.

EDIT: Oh here you go. You can order "your report" from them. I'm not sure if this is the full book-size report or not, but it's worth a shot.

(wish i knew how to edit lmao)

Coin collecting isn't all that costly either. You can get hundreds of dollars worth of silver half dollars for free. Just ask your bank to order a few hundred dollars in half dollar roles ahead of time. Then wait for the shipment, banks dont keep hundreds of dollars in 50c pieces on hand, but they can make a request for the denomination you asked for from the mint. Once it comes in, withdraw your money in the half dollars. After that skim for the silver ones still in circulation. They should be shinier and stand out, but a way to know 100% is they were made before 1964, which is when the us mint started phasing out using actual silver in coins. There are however some half dollars made of silver after 64. Each coin is worth about 7 dollars minimum, some are a bit more because of condition.

You loose nothing (you still have whatever amount you withdrew) and you gain value. Now just spend the non silver half dollars as you normally would with cash, but don't be a jerk, do it to small purchases. If you try to hand them right back they probably will stop helping you.

Now if you go to a store to spend a 7 dollar half dollar, it's still worth 50c. However it is legal to sell US currency for more than its face value within the US so long as the coin is not destroyed, ie. melted for silver wire.

Prepare for trouble, your rat will fry!

Make it double, I’m a hungry guy!

I am so tired of having no privacy, being tracked all the time 24/7, social media designed for addiction, manipulative algorithms, being forcefed ads down the throat... Like i had enough of this I feel like no one is looking out for the public and everything revolves around corporate interests. Feels like we're in some parallel universe version of the future where things went wrong. Whatever the next era is im SO ready to move on cuz im done with this bs

I recently discovered Beyond All Reason, I'm having a blast.

It's a bit different from SupCom because it tries to be as faithful to the original TA gameplay as possible, with modern graphics / engine.

There's no campaign available yet but the game is pretty polished, nice AI to skirmish with and some epic online matches (few people online tho, but increasing as the game approaches a final Steam release).

Pre-smartphones, I had the distinct honor (sarcasm) of military service on MCAS Cherry Point, NC circa 2004. SE North Carolina is an utter wasteland in regards to dating quality women. The area is dense with fighting men in all directions. Dating wise for men, it is highly competitive: Wilmington (Coast Guard), Cherry Point and Lejuene (Marines), Seymour Johnson - hehe AFB (Goldsboro), and a not too far away Fort Bragg (Army). A long trip to Raleigh or Charlotte would be the remedy for the average man’s plight. Although long-distance romance is a rare success, a useless venture - unless one-night boot-knocking is your shtick. Poor quality women would receive ultra levels of attention, due to the lopsided gender demographics of the area. I used to joke, any desperate lady looking for action…hey, move yourself to SE. NC.

Nowadays, everywhere feels like Cherry Point - largely thanks to social media and the hyper ego inflation which occurs. Simps, cucks, incels etc blow up the comment sections of average girls, catapulting their sense of worth to stratospheric levels. Coupled with a generation of ā€œDisneyā€ raised, princess syndrome. Double couple that with the uber-high divorce rates, broken homes; the by-product creates leaderless, effeminate, weak men and mentally unstable, daddy-issue riddled women. Triple down that with a current culture which glorifies ā€œhook-upā€ culture; fleet-footed, irresponsible dudes and debt-laden dudettes with their spawn-pool of multiple, albeit mysterious fathers. Where is Maury Povich when you need him?

In the not too distant ā€œolden daysā€, a man’s competition for women was a community wide, regional at the most, ordeal. Now we compete against the world - any thirsty, eager to validate schmuck from the far corners of the earth can inflate a girl/woman’s brain. Narcissism is rife and deadly - the West will fall soon.

I’ve seen data which has revealed 80% of ladies are banging, chasing, pining with/for 20% of men. While 80% of men are left swaying in the breeze.

All these ā€œbody affirmingā€ movements ie. ā€œobesity is healthy, beautiful, stunning and braveā€, is a gynocentric outlook. Man must be confident, ripped, tall, educated, financially successful and have some modicum of prestige. The feminist type bemoans when a man makes more money then them - yet mostly pine or deem worthy a man whom earns more then them. Dumb, make up your dang minds.

Dating sites weren’t always terrible…before the abominable ā€œswipe left or rightā€ platform which dominates every website nowadays; a function with an addictive hook, likened to gambling algorithms. Nor were sites flooded with bots, or pathetic girls seeking validation with a desire to grow their IG / only fans following. Sad.

Healthy relationship standards haven’t changed, the culture which surrounds it has. Look at all these healthy relationships! We are falling away from standards of success, supplanting it with recipes of disaster.

Latest Update:

Greetings from AFFiNE!

The live demo of AFFiNE has officially launched, as promised, on August 12, 2022. You can directly access the demo here: https://affine.pro/

Some things to consider about the demo:

- Designed and optimized for the chromium-based browser (such as Chrome or Edge) – some functions such as local file storage may not work correctly in other browsers

- AFFiNE is still in development and the product is not production ready. Please do not store any important information or data as there may be breaking changes moving forward.

- We look forward to sharing a more detailed roadmap with you next week. You’ll find more about our intended direction and some of the new upcoming features we have planned – so stay tuned.

The live demo allows us to show off several key features:

- Paper Mode - a space for you to freely explore and utilize the product, and we believe it offers a better experience than Notion – we hope you do too.

- Edgeless Mode – a space that gives you the freedom to draw and create through a blank canvas

- Kanban View – which is feature-rich and allows custom grouping

- Seamless switching between Paper Mode and Edgeless Mode – this is one of our proudest features of this release – and something we see that really sets us apart from a lot of other products.

If you want to continue to learn more about AFFiNE, we recommend you refer to an earlier article of ours. Here you can learn more about the product and some of its features: https://blog.affine.pro/posts/affine-the-next-gen-knowledge-base-to-notion-and-miro

And for this live demo release, to help you better understand and use AFFiNE, we interviewed some of the engineers and designers from the AFFiNE Team. Here is what they had to say, please view our medium(https://medium.com/@affineworkos/the-affine-live-demo-is-here-with-15-reasons-from-the-team-why-you-should-try-fa1d74a1d2d8) to know more details about it✨

Hello, we built an open-source privacy first Notion/Miro alternative, we call it r/Affine, and we built it with Typescript/React/Rust. Check it out on GitHub(https://github.com/toeverything/AFFiNE).It is not only a block docs, but also a visual learning/collaboration tool merged together. In short, it is a next-gen semantic knowledge base that put your planning, sorting, and creating of content together. As we have just open-sourced it, it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide us with some review or feedback. One of our open-source contributors just made Affine available on a macOS desktop! If you want to have a peek at the current affine demo now, please check it out at: https://github.com/m1911star/affine-client

AFFiNE will release a demo version available online around August 12th, so please focus on our Github updates(https://github.com/toeverything/AFFiNE) \~ we will also update our news in real-time on all channels. If there is anything that we can help with making AFFiNE more available to others, please let us know!

Hello !

Notion.so is great. But it's not open source, and not self hostable.

I'm looking for a tool with this constraints :

  • self hostable
  • web browser access
  • iOS app
  • Reminder
  • Task manager

Like Notion, but ... on my own machine ;)

Any idea ?

(An expansion of my comment from the post-episode thread)

Something to keep in mind here is that BCS has always had ten episodes a season. Each episode number had its own corresponding intro, ten in total that degraded over the course of the show. The natural arc of this is that the tenth episode of the final season should logically be the final episode. And if you saw Nippy and were told that it was the series finale, you'd probably believe it. Regardless of what you think of the quality of the episode, the last plot threads were pretty solidly wrapped up in this one. The resolution to the Jeff plotline was several seasons in the making, and we see Gene dip back into the Slippin' Jimmy/Saul lifestyle to get himself out of one last jam. When confronting the Jimmy/Saul outfit in the store, he hangs it back up on the rack. That part of his life changed him to an unbelievable degree, but he got past it. It's over now. He's at peace.

So after all that, a happy ending? No. There's an eleventh episode.

Gene doesn't know the rules of his own show. He can't recognize the natural conclusion. He keeps playing the tape, even though there's no more tape to play. We're out of intros. We just get a corrupted VHS mess as he drags this out a bit longer and dips back in.

In the same way, we're sort of in Gene's shoes. We know there's three episodes left. And we have other questions. Probably at the forefront of our minds is: Where are Walt and Jesse? We were told they'd be here. Now, to be clear, the show works without them. There's no explicit reason to dive back into that storyline. There's a whole other show for that. But we'd like to see them all the same. We're curious, itching to go back to that time of our lives. Just like Gene. And that's what we get. The instant the show moves past its obvious conclusion, we get "Breaking Bad" and a flashback to a scene with Walt and Jesse that we've already seen. We're getting exactly what we want.

Gene plays a slightly different, but related game. He goes and makes the phone call that attentive viewers have been waiting for since season 4. We want answers, and so does he. But Francesca doesn't have anything to give him. Because really, there's no reason for him to be calling. He can't go back to Albuquerque. And there's no one there that he cares about. He's initially punished by learning that his money is gone, which he could have lived the rest of his life without knowing had he just let the story end. But now it's in his head. And the phone call's almost over. And he doesn't want it to be over. So he starts reaching, asking questions about arbitrary side characters and dropping a few names that that plenty of us don't even remember. Francesca even looks confused as to why he's asking, and she doesn't really have the answers because she hasn't thought about it. While we were watching, my friend described this scene as "the fans calling Vince to ask him about fan theories," and we laughed at the time, but the more we thought about it, the more we realized that's pretty much what it was. Gene's just trying to wrap up loose ends that never needed to be wrapped up, even spinning a "Bill Oakley is gay" fan theory that doesn't pan out. The show is over. There are no more loose ends.

Well, that's not quite true. There's one. Interestingly, Gene forgets to ask about it, implying he's forgotten about it and has moved on. But Pandora's Box is open now. And Francesca, almost out of pity for not being able to give Gene anything, lets him know the one thing that's left: that Kim called. Gene probably could have gone the rest of his life without tugging on the Kim thread, and he almost does. But he goes back, because, as the Breaking Bad flashbacks and his return to con artistry and his return to the house and the existence of the episode itself show, he can't quite leave well enough alone. And he calls Kim, which inevitably goes poorly. And the sunk costs of all the work he's done wash over him in one big wave, and he spirals back into something that's almost guaranteed to go poorly as well.

There was no reason for him to make that call except to be reminded that he'd lost his money, his legacy, and, most likely, his wife, forever. If he'd just gone about his life having moved on from those things and leaving the Kim plotline uncertain, he'd probably have been fine. But like Chuck said, our precious Jimmy just can't keep his hands out of the cash drawer. Maybe that's not always who he always was, and maybe that's not who he was destined to be. But it's who he is now, and he refuses to accept that there's nothing left from his old life, even when all signs point to that being the case. And when confronted with harsh, inescapable reality, he slips.

Both Gene and the audience want to squeeze out a little bit more. We want to bring color back into this black and white world, stretch the show out with a small dose of nostalgia for the good times. Running cons, watching Breaking Bad. It's fun. And it's not useless. We'll get a little money, a little dopamine boost, even some extra character development and depth to the Breaking Bad universe. But those things were always hiding darker secrets, and bringing them back comes at a cost.

I have a Plex server running at home and really like having my own collection of music / movies that isn't tied to some 3rd party service. I can have higher quality content and don't have to worry about the third-party service eventually shutting down or changing their apps in a way I don't like, etc.

I'm just about done ripping all of our existing discs of music and movies. Does anyone know of any services out there where I can buy new movies / shows legally and download the standalone files that I can keep and view in any way I want? There are websites out there that let you purchase and download music in lossless format, but I haven't seen anything like this for movies.

Any leads, or am I stuck either buying Blu-ray disks (seems really wasteful) or "sailing the seas"?

While doing a bit of information gathering in terms of healthy living, i came across some studies being done on the effects of low intensity, non ionizing electro-magnetic radiation. You know, those waves that are all around us, all the time, being emitted from cell phones, towers, WiFi routers and their towers and, brand new to the family with even more bang for the bug (yes, thats intentional), 5G.

So i took a look at the following website https://bioinitiative.org/ and looked up their findings in a report from 2012 https://bioinitiative.org/wp-content/uploads/pdfs/BioInitiativeReport-RF-Color-Charts.pdf

What i found rather interesting are the following effects:

  • causes change in genes
  • causes a reducting in sperm count
  • casues fatigue, depressive tendency, sleeping disorders, concentration difficulties, cardio -vascular problems
  • cause a change in the immune system
  • causes reduced memory function
  • causes increase in free radicals throughout the body
  • causes changes in intercellular Calcium, especially the heart, it seems

I could go on, but looking at these symptoms, does anyone else here see certain parallels, aswell? Mind you, this were results from 2012 without any 5G being involved.

Now, i am aware that it is what it is and we will neither stop 5G nor get out of harms way concerning that as it is basically unavoidable for most but what we can, at least, do is try our best to approach this with what is within our abilities to help our bodies become more resilient towards it.

So, from what i can personally do, now, is adjusting my diet and to possibly add adequate supplementation. I will not go into much detail as you will and should have to do your own research but i can try to highlight what might require the most attention.

  • free radicals - add more anti oxidants
  • intercellular Calcium changes - supplement Magnesium and Vitamin D3+K2 but do that wisely, especially with the Magnesium. Try low doses and go from there and remember to read up on those things as electrolytes are interactive (too much Magnesium can cause a Potassium deficiency, for example)
  • Vitamin B could also play a role and might be worth looking into and i believe too much B6 can even cause problems. As i already said, you will have to put in your work, too, if you care, that is.

Generally make sure that your digestion is in order and keep away from sugar and too many carbs. Adapting more healthy life choices might be more important than ever, currently, as i doubt that we will be seeing any change in favor of lower EMF radiation exposure, anytime soon.

Hope that that is helpful to the one or the other, as, regardless if there is more or less to this, a more concious approach towards our health cant really be wrong. Be well, all and have a great day!

Essentially the title. It can be a software you can self host, it can be a tool to help with it, or it can be otherwise a tool that can help you find new things etc. It doesn't matter.

Bonus: Which one of them helped NOT you, but someone you know like a family member? i.e. is there something that your family heavily prefers that you have just discovered?

I'll start: I learned about this really cool newspaper-like RSS reader frontend called Selfoss. and saves me from the shitshow that are /r/news and /r/worldnews. My Calibre-web instance though, that I have been hosting for months, has helped out tons of my friends who constantly ask me if I have x or y book.

I'm building a file server (and plex server), to be used locally and remotly. The server will have design assets files that should be accessed remotly.

Is there a solution or service (free or paid) that gives similer features and performance to icloud and google drive? and its nice if its simple to setup and troubleshoot

So, I work for a pharmaceutical distribution company. I also have many (previous) years as a pharmacy tech. When the new covid shots came out and we started seeing celebrities and politicians doing them on TV, my gut instinct was that they were getting placebos. No way they would risk getting a new shot like this on live TV not knowing if they would react to the new tech. As more and more reports of side effects came out, i started thinking to myself that I bet these shots are not consistent by batch, meaning some lot numbers are placebo. Some are the new mRNA tech. Some may be some other experimental vax they've been toying around with. Some many just be flu shots. Either way, certain lots are getting sent to certain areas. And because the shots are technically in their trial phase until 2023, there *has to be at least some placebos mixed in because this is a live trial they are doing on the humans and they have to have some controls (outside of the unvaxed). Anyway back to work.. at my job we have various supervisors coming in to help from other states lately bc we've had 3 quit at my location over the past few months. One of these visiting supervisors works at one of the distribution centers that's contracted to supply the new shots. I asked how that's going. He said it's mostly fine now that things have calmed down a bit, but the most annoying orders always come from the govt, because they only want to order certain lot numbers.

!!!!!!! WHAT?!

Me and one other guy sitting in the breakroom at the time just kinda paused, then looked at each other and I said, 'well that's not good. That means the shots are not consistent batch to batch and they know that.' I left it at that, because this is my job and I didn't want to get too deep into this topic with these people lol. But that supervisor then goes, 'huh...yeah wow I didn't even think about that!'

So. This isn't a case of them avoiding 'bad' batches, cause if that was the case the bad ones would (should) be recalled and pulled. They are likely ordering the placebo lots.

So anyway, regardless of how you feel about the shots you can't tell me that's not super sus. Nobody orders drugs by specific lot number unless they know something.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk lol šŸ™ƒ

Edit: wow, I really did not expect so many responses!! I had to step away for a while and can't reply to them all, but I do appreciate the mostly civil responses and insight I've seen here, so thanks for that! 😊

Hi everybody.

Just published a repo containing search engines and online services useful for pentesting, general security, red team, bug bounty etc..

This is the link: https://github.com/edoardottt/awesome-hacker-search-engines

[removed]

It's a slowed (and very clippy) cut of Ainsi Bas La Vida by Indila.

**Edit** I've updated the list, adding most, but not all recommendations. I don't want to oversaturate it. Thank you everyone for your input. The biggest missed spots were definitely Noble Smoke, McCoys, and Villani's, so thank you for that. I also removed some spots for being unpopular picks.

In Total:

144 places to eat/drink

76 places to visit

Hope this list is helpful for those visiting, moving or even those who already live in Charlotte and potentially missed some of these. Can't wait to make Charlotte home!

Around the world by daft punk sauce

In the 1994 episode ā€œSideshow Bob Robertsā€ the republicans are shown to be meeting in a large stormy castle, with unambiguously evil characters like Mr. Burns and Dracula, and they have secret chant.

I know that this was the party that was started as an anti-slavery party. At (roughly) what point did it become the party that pop culture would unapologetically characterise it as the ā€œevilā€ party?

Here you go!

https://www.typingclub.com/sportal/program-3.game

The basic concept isn't too bad. A PID controller consists of three main parts:

  • A Proportional part: The controller checks where the ball is and where it should be. The larger the difference (called error here), the further it tilts the table. If the error is zero (the ball is where it should be), the table is level. Mathematically, it multiplies the error by a constant value and applies it to the output (the tilt angle). This makes the applied action proportional to the error.

That alone isn't sufficient to stabilize the system however. If the ball is rolling towards the center, it probably won't stop there, but roll through it. The ball could also sit still very close, but not exactly at the center. The tilt applied wouldn't be enough to correct that error. That's where the I and D parts come in:

  • The Integral part integrates (sums up) the accumulated errors of the past, multiplies it by another constant and applies it to the output. So even if the ball rests very near the center, the sum over that small error quickly builds up over time and an appropriate tilt is generated.

  • Finally, the Derivative considers how fast the error changes (its derivative). If the error changes very quickly, the controller applies a large correction to the output to quickly damp out that error. This would help to avoid overshooting the center for example or the ball starting to oscillate around the center.

Figuring out the math and how it applies to your physical system is a bit more tricky however, especially when you consider things like stability and damping. But the concept I described should give you a good idea of how they work in principle.

I deal with 2-3 dozens of servers and the applications running on them, is there a tool where i can list them all?

I have many many hard drives from years of data hording, some with duplicate pictures and videos, in so many layers of folders and subfolders from old phones, cameras, SD cards and recovered drives. It's total chaos and I don't know where to start with organising it all. Is there any software to go through it all? Thanks

Can we please reverse the trend of movies looking like ads. It's SO refreshing to see people with actual faces instead of cgi-enhanced 1cm thick make-up puppet faces.

I like this one https://github.com/qarmin/czkawka. In their Readme file you can see it refers to other software recommendations.

  • The power of this realisation has been coming for quite some time, but it has just hit me full force and I have finally managed to somewhat eloquently put it into words.

-Remember when you used to really feel things? Not like "I am so involved in /insert whatever superficial social media drama/trend is happening right now/", that's all just damn ridiculous.

-I mean the feels that you had when mom was making you eggs for breakfast while you were just sitting there, ass on the floor in front of a big old boxy Sony TV and watching Scooby-Doo on Boomerang, while simultaneously smashing your Donkey Kong toy against your little bro's rubber dinosaur, cause both of you peeked through the door while your folks watched Godzilla the night before. Of course, you are tired now, but you have a playdate arranged with that kid down the block while Mom and Dad work, so you are psyched anyway. All four of you pile into your Dad's Volvo wagon while Mom whooshes your backpack with toys from the front into the backseat. The playdate proceeds to last long into the evening, in which time you guys have built a Lego city that covers most of the flat areas in the living room, finished off a large pizza and Mario Kart 64'ed so much that your thumbs got sore.

-You were too old for that? Ok, millenial vibes time. You just got home from school in your beat up Corolla that you bought from money you earned working at Blockbuster video last summer. Prom is in 3 months, so naturally you are psyched. You get into your room, pop a CD into the boombox and fire up the AOL till lunch time to make plans for tonight. It is the same old, just doing squat in the McDonalds parking lot with your friends but it never gets old. Just gotta remember to charge your Nokia.

-Still no? Alright, moving on to Gen X.
Kids are at a sleep-over. You got home from work, filing up the car on the way and not ending up bankrupt in the process, and sat on the couch. Your college friends are coming tonight for dinmer. You should start dusting, but the new episode of Seinfeld is more important to catch right now. Wife nags you at first but then joins you on the couch since dinner is already done. Cleaning ends up lasting the last 15 panicked minutes, you eat dinner, after which you head out for some club music since you are still too young to stay in all night.

-I may be over-exaggarating in these, I was just a kid back then and saw the world through rose colored glasses, but you get the point.

-Now, what is the common denominator in these stories, or lack thereof? That's right, no social media or smartphones in sight. You had to be present and cultivate relationships with people, and fuck up or succeed in the real world. Now, since a lot of our life moved onto the internet and social media, (which btw I hold no grudge against per se, it is useful a lot of the time), it all got twisted up and ate our sense of the real world. Most things now just feel like an imitation of reality, which now warps in ways it shouldn't, just like our values.

-We were fine without all that. There was just the right amount of technology to be helpful and not take over our lives.

-We should try that again sometime.

Super bad guy developer here, this was something we had to circumvent because of employee tomfoolery. ELI5: Normally what you're saying would work but each phone has many multiple unique identifiers that can be called upon. What we did is not mess around with anything and go directly to the IMEI, IMSI. We use that and link it to the account, any kind of tracking or identification cookies we generate to follow people we attach to that number so unless you get a brand new phone you can potentially be tracked. But even then we can correlate usage patterns and find you, it's not really difficult at all. You would have to literally change cities and modify your sleeping routines and things you do on your phone. Essentially become a new human to not generate enough data to sync you to the new device. As little as two data points can be used to identify somebody now, we used to need five!

Metnotstand im MƤrchenland - Feuerschwanz

It all started when I wanted my own wakeword for Mycroft. I followed the recommendations for creating a wakeword model with Mycroft Precise. It didn't work very well. It kept waking up falsely all the time and it didn't work for my wife at all, even though I collected her saying the wakeword a few times.

This awoke the inner data scientist in me. How can I create a wakeword model that works as good as production quality without having to do thousands and thousands of recordings to get that?

I realized that if I am having this problem, so are many other people. No wonder wakeword systems aren't so ubiquitous. It also made me wonder what other blockers there were in NLP (Natural Language Processing) stopping us from having awesome FOSS voice assistants for all the self hosters out there.

It turns out there are a lot of problems and a whole community of FOSS voice assistant developers facing those same problems. Our only path to success was to unite as a community.

Secret Sauce AI

šŸ” Secret Sauce AI is a coordinated community of AI enthusiasts. We have come together as many individuals and projects in the FOSS voice assistant space to solve big AI problems for everyone out there.

We are focused on many areas of AI (especially in NLP), but our šŸ”Ž first project is in the area of wakewords.

Cool, but what's a wakeword exactly?

When you use a voice assistant, you usually start by waking it (ie 'hey Mycroft' or 'hey Siri'). This wakeword is a binary acoustic model ('wakeword' or 'not-wakeword' classes) that triggers ASR (automated speech recognition) transcription when the wakeword is uttered. This is generally how all voice assistants work.

Yeah, that's nice and all but there are already wakewords out there...

True, but making your own customized production quality wakeword can be rather difficult (like impossible) using FOSS solutions, as I personally found out. And it shouldn't be this hard to make your own wakeword!

Let's breakdown the problems and the solutions.

1. Data collection

Problem

How much data do you need, what kinds of data, how do you go about collecting it? There really isn't so much exact information out there, and big companies usually collect thousands to millions of samples to make their production quality wakewords. That is a bit beyond the average self hoster's resources.

Solution

So the solution was to experimentally figure out a data collection recipe and make that data collection as sparse as possible while making sure it produced a production quality wakeword. That's a tall order, but we worked on this (way longer than we want to admit).

We have released a prototype šŸ“¦ Wakeword Data Collector in Python that runs a user through the collection process.

2. How do you make a production quality model with machine learning and all of that stuff?

Problem

It can be hard to hit on a winning recipe to train a production quality model, especially if you aren't doing this professionally as a data scientist. There isn't so much information out there on the exact recipe to do this.

Solution

We experimentally figured out the best recipe while keeping the data sparse and made the šŸ“¦ Precise Wakeword Model Maker to do it all for you automatically.

It uses Mycroft's Precise engine to train a model for you. It pulls out every trick in AI we know to get a higher quality model from sparse data and uses new ground breaking techniques; from using TTS engines to generate more data, to using incremental and curriculum learning methods to improve the training and testing scores, and much more.

Help!

We would love to have more help working on AI based projects for the self hosting community, as we are just some people who know each other mostly from Reddit and Github that do this in our free time. Please feel free to DM me if you want to help out.

Future projects

Wakeword

This release represents the first phase in the wakeword project, we are working on a šŸ“¦ Rust wakeword engine based on Precise and a šŸ“¦ SpeechPy MFCC port in Rust so that user's can run the wakeword easily on their phone and other devices. It is hard to believe that there aren't any current good solutions to running a modern FOSS wakeword engine on a phone in real time. We want to change that and allow everyone access to this technology, with their own wakeword of choice.

We would also love to improve upon our current prototype releases and welcome feedback and especially help from the community.

NLU-NLG: Natural Language Understand, Natural Language Generation

This will be the next project we focus on. We will benchmark current solutions, improving general data sets, and publish information to help everyone improve upon their current NLU-NLG use cases. All of this is still a heavy work in progress.

Lots more to come in NLU-NLG, so stay tuned.

Voice Assistant Bus Protocol

We are working on a universal šŸ“¦ Voice Assistant Protocol (VAP)

Generally, we are working on many more projects, but it's still too early to speak about them with any detail. If you are curious and want to know more, you can always write me. Once again, we would love any help offered. There are a lot of big AI problems to solve out there and we are just some random passionate folks, not some fancy company or anything.

Member projects

A lot of our Secret Sauce AI members build FOSS voice assistant software. It is always worth checking their software out. We just love this community!

We would love to give a shout out to the folks over at Mycroft, if it weren't for them we wouldn't have a modern FOSS wakeword engine or a lot of other stuff in the FOSS voice assistant community.

This is posted over at rumble.com by user General Jackson as transcribed from his video...

"If you bought a firearm from a Walmart or other retail store or a private gun shop, or even a gun show where you had to show and ID and fill out any forms, you can rest assured that you are now a handful of government databases and "watch-lists" that are updated every 30 days.

This data will certainly be used when tyrannical forces and politicians within America prevail to the point of excessive powers, corruption, and arrogance to initiate an illegal gun confiscation by force if a buy-back program does not disarm the public. Although such a confiscation would be a violation of constitutional law, at that point in time, the government authorizing the gun grab would hardly be legitimate. To prepare for that imminent day, here is what you can do NOW, to keep government goons from terrorizing your family in their quest to disarm you...

1) Legally sell all of your guns to the oldest senior of your family or a trusted friend that is terminally ill or living and working overseas.

2) Be sure to register the sale with the ATF using their official form no. 4473 which you can get a copy of here or any private gun shop https://www.atf.gov/firearms/atf-form-4473-firearms-transaction-record-revisions. Also check with your state to see where you can register the sale and how. Your nearest State Police office can guide you on this matter. In most states, this form is sufficient https://eforms.com/bill-of-sale/firearm/

3) When submitted, the law requires that the new owner of the firearms and their address replace yours. This is why ALL of your guns be sold to that person (for any amount you choose). Under method of payment, be sure to check "cash"

4) You may choose to become the "guardian" or "custodian" of the firearms for safekeeping or security purposes, but most preparers will insert the guns spraryed with silicone and their ammo into PVC pipes with end caps sealed with silicone and buried at least 3 feet underground at least a mile from their residence in some remote park, forest. field and making note of the GPS position or mark the spot with in a way only they would recognize (ie. a pile of rocks, a rusty chain, animal skeleton, etc.) You could keep one of your guns in your home for emergency situations (well-hidden) until the Executive Order to confiscate guns is officially given.

5) After the sale is registered with the ATF, it will take approximately 30 days for their records to be updated and at that point, you will no longer be legally responsible for those firearms.

6) Thereafter, if you are ever visited by DHS or any law enforcement official hunting down guns (not likely unless you shared your secret with others), you can legally and politely say, "Sorry but I do not own any guns - have a nice day officer" and close the door. By law you are not required to answer any questions and unless they present a specific court order that identifies your homes "interior spaces and surrounding property" they are not allowed to enter your home unless you consent.

7) All of the above also applies to your ammo because if ammo is found in your home, garage. car or garden shed, it will obviously tip them off you have the guns to match the ammo. And now that we are discussing ammo, there is a very good chance that ammunition will be outlawed to own or sell in the near future. Therefore you need to stock up up as soon as you can to afford to do so, but never buy it online which will be easily traced to you, your delivery address, or your ISP if you forgot to use TOR"

The video continues for another 3 minutes talking about your 4th amendment rights (legal protections against unreasonable searches and seizures)

Looking for new suggestions to explore (I'm on EU btw, if that matters). All suggestions are welcome, thanks :)

After spending the weekend in Ottawa being surrounded by the most loving, polite, happy, joyful, helpful people I have ever met in my entire life I come home to endless arguments, interrogation, lost clients and friendships because of how the media is smearing it as some hate rally.

Literal angels of humanity of all colours being labelled as hateful by people who have no fucking clue about the reality we live in and where we are headed. The amount of arguments I've gotten into, lost followers, snide comments and judgments from so called friends is honestly exhausting. How is it like this? How can something so good and pure and beautiful be thought of as bad???

It makes me puke. People who don't see it I am having a really hard time having compassion for you, you're lost, you are blind and you're on the wrong side of history.

I don't know how Jesus did it loving you lot. You are all fucking deranged. God help us.

Over the break my post nasal drip morphed into a pretty annoying globes sensation, with tired vocal cords and a feeling of something being stuck in my throat. Naturally, I assumed the worst.

Well, today, I saw the ENT, and it was simply a mixture of post nasal drip and silent GERD. He also said he's seen a lot of people in my situation.

I post this to counteract all the stories we all keep seeing about people finding out the worst, or the fact that every movie shows someone cough once and then you're at their funeral. The body is loud and it does things and it creates sensations but that doesn't mean there's a terrible story attached. Get checked out if you can but please don't try to be your own doctor.

TL;DR: When someone suggests a specific countermeasure (i.e. software, service, encryption method, new device), ask which threat model it applies to. Ask what the risk is for yourself and your specific situation. Let’s raise the level of conversation in the privacy community by not supporting blanket countermeasures and paranoia-derived decision making.

Assess your own threat model for your choices and your life. Learn the opsec thought process and apply it for yourself. Say no to the countermeasure-first fallacy.

Lots of bad advice

The vast majority of security or privacy related posts and comments on reddit are asking for help or advice on or related to specific countermeasures, like how a cook might ask for help with a specific ingredient. It implies the cook understands the recipe. The problem is most people don’t understand the recipe of security or privacy for themselves (i.e. their own opsec threat model) and end up asking the equivalent of ā€œhow to properly fry an eggā€ for a cake recipe because ā€œeggsā€ were listed.

Efforts to educate the community to a proper opsec mindset are often met with resistance through these common pseudo-intellectual arguments:

ā€œa proper threat model isn’t necessary because everyone can benefit from extreme protections from everything no matter their situationā€

This is patently false, and easily demonstrated by trying to log into your bank account over Tor or VPN. Once your account is locked for suspicious activity, you’ll need to question if you should in fact ā€œuse Tor or VPN all the time for everythingā€.

ā€œwe shouldn’t share any information with governmentsā€

This is mostly false. Try having a driver’s license and not sharing any data to get it. Try being a citizen of a country and asking for help overseas without proving your citizenship. Try running a legitimate legal business and hiring an employee and paying them anonymously.

There simply is no getting around sharing information with government as a part of life. We can limit and push back on the types of information we share, but the idea that all information is equal and should be private is an anti-opportunity position, often based on paranoia and introduces complexity and inconvenience often for no real benefit.

As for corporations, you can often limit the amount of information they collect through isolation in most cases, but even when you can't, the type of information they are requesting and how they use it may be completely acceptable in some limited cases (troubleshooting software, fraud and cheating prevention, providing access credentials, etc). It will always come down to a personal threat model as to whether the information shared is an acceptable risk or not.

ā€œif its free, you’re the product and you shouldn’t use itā€

This is mostly false. You can be the product even when you pay, and while many free (donation, tax, confused investor funded) services exist, the takeaway is that all users of a product or system are a product in one way or another— what matters is if the benefits outweigh the risks.

If you have nothing to lose..

When someone says ā€œdon’t use _____ā€, ask them what you stand to lose. This forces them to define the risk — a critical component to a threat model. In most cases, you’ll deduce from their response that they are assuming a threat model of a spy, a victim of state persecution, a terrorist, or other very high value target which makes their advice akin to "you should never drive a car because people can die from car accidents".

Let’s raise the level of conversation in the privacy community by not supporting blanket countermeasures and paranoia-derived decision making.

When someone suggests a specific countermeasure (e.g. ingredient), ask which threat model (e.g. recipe) it applies to. Ask what the risk is for yourself and your specific situation. If there isn’t any, you’re probably wasting your energy at best, or at worst adding additional potential liability and vulnerabilities to yourself.

Instead, assess your own threat model for your choices and your life. Learn the opsec thought process and apply it for yourself.

Let's say no to the countermeasure-first fallacy in the privacy community.

A few months ago, I posted a request for suggestions regarding free software and scripts that would improve the Windows LTSC experience that allow a person to (reversibly) turn off or remove unwanted Windows ā€œfeaturesā€ that LTSC still retained in it’s base configuration. My goal is to create a clean, lighter weight, and more secure version of Windows LTSC that is optimized (i.e maximized free RAM, minimized processes, no telemetry, etc), as opposed to lobotomized (there are plenty of ways to do the latter, and it’s something I am not interested in).

At the time, I received quite a few excellent suggestions for both software and scripts that could be used individually and in conjunction, and for those I thank everyone that contributed. However time rolls on, and as result, with the upcoming version of LTSC just around the corner, I wanted to see if anyone had any additional suggestions, or new takes on prior ones.

I welcome any and all constructive commentary. Please note that this does not include personal takes on" why LTSC is perfect as is", or any permutation of ā€œyou’ll shoot your eye outā€. Those sorts of responses do no constitute constructive commentary, and are not required. It is my hope that people will refrain from gumming up the thread with such comments, and any such comments that do appear will simply be ignored.

Thanks in advance to everyone who contributes. This sub has a wealth of both experience and expertise, I and am more then appreciative for it.

I hate paywalls, so I searched high and low until I found a website that instantly gets around a lot of them: 12 foot ladder.

So far, it’s worked on every website I’ve tried it with. All you have to do is go to the website, then put in the URL, and it opens it for you. It’s a lot more convenient than downloading browser add-ons or extensions.

If you want to test it out, here’s a paywalled recipe from New York Times Cooking.

Why YSK: you won’t have to spend money or switch devices to read paywalled sites anymore, making your life just a little easier.

Edit: u/SaveFroman pointed out another site, PrintFriendly that can do the same thing… meaning that, between the two of these sites, a lot more of the Internet should be accessible.

edit 2: u/userseven says he uses archive.org, which also works by copy/pasting the URL - this works with NYT, etc.

In this post, "Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021" will be referred to as "non-IoT", and "Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021" will be referred to as "IoT".

Q: What's the difference between non-IoT and IoT?

A: They are essentially the same, except:

||non-IoT|IoT| |:-|:-|:-| |Lifecycle end date|Jan 12, 2027|Jan 13, 2032| |Generic key type|KMS|RTM| |Generic key embedded in the ISO file|M7XTQ-FN8P6-TTKYV-9D4CC-J462D|QPM6N-7J2WJ-P88HH-P3YRH-YY74H| |Activation method|KMS|Digital License (HWID)| |Languages available for ISO files|All native languages available, such like en-gb, fr-fr, de-de, etc.|Only en-us "English (United States)" is available.|

Q: If I want IoT, can I install with the ISO file of the IoT version, which is only available in en-us, then later on install language packs of my choice?

A: Yes. However, keep in mind that in some cases it will not be the same as installing from an ISO file in the native language. For exmaple, if you install with an en-us ISO, then install the en-gb language pack, then you could get the pesky "English (United States)" keyboard layout coming back again and again. It is recommended that you do a clean installation in the native language you want, e.g. install en-gb non-IoT, then switch to IoT (see below), so that you get IoT in native language "English (United Kingdom)".

Q: Can I switch between non-IoT and IoT after installation?

A: Yes. You can freely switch between these two at any time by changing the key (see generic keys in the table above). Right-click on Start menu, run "PowerShell (Admin)", type in the following command:

slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Q: How can I activate?

A:

For genuine MSDN subscribers: you activate non-IoT with the KMS server of your institute, or activate IoT with the MAK key provided by your institute.

For home users: as per sub rules, no linking of pirated content, thus I will not provide any link here for activators. Just search for MAS.

================================================================================

Edit: MAS 1.5 may already support LTSC 2021. The section below were written for MAS 1.4 at the time of making this post and may be skipped:

MAS 1.4 will fail for IoT with the following error:

==== ERROR ====
[Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 | 19044 | SKU:191] HWID Activation is Not Supported.
Press any key to exit...

However, simply modify the code for the SKU value in HWID_Activation.cmd:

Line 679:

191-IoTEnterprise

and lines 761-763:

:IoTEnterprise
set "key=QPM6N-7J2WJ-P88HH-P3YRH-YY74H"
exit /b

Then IoT activates permanently with HWID.

This fits with previous research that shows memes are the core of conspiracy theories these days. Image memes are much harder to share privately within groups on twitter.

Edit:

Some research to read.

https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fcomm.2020.547065/full

This considers memes an evolution of the leaflet and explaina how they can effectively spread information across borders.

https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1750481319835639?journalCode=dcma can't find the full one but it covers how memes are weaponised.

https://www.cogitatiopress.com/mediaandcommunication/article/view/3533 this is about "meme wars" on Instagram.

https://www.axios.com/memes-misinformation-coronavirus-56-2c3e88be-237e-49c1-ab9d-e5cf4d2283ff.html

This actually goes into detail as to why memes have advantages over text, so it may be that because twitter is more text based, their ai systems are better equipped to stop meme spread.

Could also be that twitter are just more willing to challenge misinformation memes because their revenue is much less tied up in profiting from right wing users.

A few of your suggestions are already implemented—we regularly recommend r/AskHistory to users who want more discussion or want an answer but aren't necessarily interested in having it vetted for accuracy and we're also in regular contact with moderators of r/history (some folks are mods of both subs); we aren't in regular contact with the moderators of r/AskHistory, mostly because they take a very different approach to moderation than we do—theirs is a very hands off approach to moderation in which mis/disinformation is addressed (or not) through users via decentralized moderation (i.e., votes) rather than mod intervention. Both subs are listed in the sidebar as part of the history network of subreddits.

I'm not an historian—I'm an information scientist who studies moderation, but I have a background in library and information studies. What you're describing in your second paragraph:

But where do people go who just want to ask a question where they might not know what information it is they're seeking?

has a name in LIS: Anomalous State of Knowledge (ASK)—you know you want to know something, but you don't know enough to be able to articulate it. This can make question asking (or searching for information in google) really difficult. Browsing (or looking through existing information) is a much better solution for people in the ASK state. Being a Q&A sub, this is a bit of a challenge and one that moderators and flaired members of the team address through the FAQ in the wiki, so that someone who wants to read through background information on Greek mercenaries can read through the existing answers and, ideally, ask their own question from there. Another thing moderators here do that's less visible because it tends to happen in modmail or in removed question chains is provide coaching on how to ask questions. For users who want a quick answer we direct them to the dedicated thread for short answers and try to prioritize answering those when we can. There are also a set of flairs who regularly respond to those kinds of questions too.

These are all initiatives undertaken by mods and supported by expert flairs to make sure our users have as many ways of getting the information they want while still maintaining the goals of the subreddit—to provide question askers with comprehensive, accurate, and trustworthy responses to their question. I guarantee that no one on the mod team is going to say: "We don't care about raising general knowledge and interest in history" because that's the foundational goal of the subreddit and the primary reason why members of the modteam dedicate hours of their time everyday to the community—I've written about that here and published more details here.

There are a few challenges of course—Reddit's design means that these efforts are harder to find (for a while, and perhaps still, the wiki wasn't available on mobile, which is where the vast majority of the sub's traffic comes from) and it all takes time and labour. Every time a moderator makes a visible comment they are always at risk of pushback (which is benign in intent, but can be stressful, particularly when it happens en masse) and at risk of abuse. So it's often a balance between wanting to do more and having the time and the emotional energy. Because some of the feedback requires specialist knowledge it's not simply a case of adding more moderators. Moderation is a lot of work and moderators are human. There's a ton of stuff that the team works on and does to address the issues you raise, it's just hard to get it out there and make sure people see it.

Imagine meeting someone in person, you’ve had such a great interaction with them, the energy you shared — the conversation, it all was beautiful. You exchange numbers or an email. You come home, you contemplate how good the day and how weirdly, somewhere in October, you’ve bumped into someone and it went well. You sleep.

This was the 90s.

In the 90s, when you met someone, you exchanged contact, not social profiles, so to contact them, or they contact you, both parties had to make a deliberate effort.

Technology back then, was a tool to connect and hear me out, connect to the same interaction — the same medium, in-person talking. Sure you shared a few emails, but ultimately you wanted to get back together to the old cafe where you left.

No ambiguity. Space to grow.

Fast forward to today, you meet, you exchange social profiles — let’s take Instagram for example.

In my life, whoever I have met through Instagram has always ended up in an ambiguous and awkward friendship, and ultimately becoming a poison.

You meet them, they meet you. Exchange socials. Hit follow on profiles. Come back home, sleep.

And from there, everything is downhill.

You see their stories, they see your stories. It continues. Days. Weeks. No interaction, no energy. Never get to know each other. The awesome interaction you both had, what went wrong?

2 months later with no messages exchanged, both are silently watching stories and posts of each other, and ultimately, you hit unfollow. The person you met was lost.

And believe me when I say this, this is a pattern I noticed and almost all the people I exchanged my social with (especially IG) when I first met them, and followed ended up just placeholders, not friends.

What social media seems to ruin, is that it takes the connection, and makes the connection poisonous by constantly exposing each other to the point the connection that was once a beauty of the offline, goes online, killing the mystique and killing empathy.

In the first timeline, you weren’t exposed, there was distance, there was anticipation. No ambiguity. No interaction override.

I feel truly sad writing this but lost many good people by just following them, wish I had gotten to know them before subscribing to their life that I never wanted to be the audience of, but a part of.

You don’t like Green Day? You anti music!!!!! Disgusting

So recently I got my hands on a raspberry pi 4 8GB, and I'm thinking of using it as a mini home server.

Here are some of the apps I plan to host on it.

  • paperless-ng
  • adguard Home
  • wireguard-vpn
  • goauthentik
  • nginx proxy manager
  • BitWarden
  • gitea

Would appreciate some advice on what OS to install all this service on? Currently thinking of using ubuntu+docker.

Besides that, are there any other apps that you guys would recommend installing on a pi?

Thanks :)

A couple of weeks back, I shared my dashboard detailing the self-hosted apps I was running on RPis - https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/poca6i/selfhosting_all_these_services_on_two_raspberry/

I consolidated all the docker-compose + any additional configuration files for these apps on GitHub to serve as reference. Here's the link to the repo - https://github.com/abhilesh/self-hosted_docker_setups

I have also since built a Wallabag docker image (along with a few fixes) for armhf and arm64 systems - https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/abhilesh7/wallabag-arm

PS - Always make sure you have adequate security measures in place before exposing any of these to the internet. Always change the default login credentials for any app you deploy.

My family first got a computer in 2007 when I was a twelve year old and I remember how different it was. It was so easy to make friends, and people were a lot more social and normal. You could easily find someone to have a chinwag with on RuneScape, YouTube or any of the dozens of forums. I can still remember most of my old RuneScape buddies and sometimes I wonder what they've done with their lives. There were also games like Tribal Wars where you could basically roleplay as a lord or something and be a part of a big community oriented clan. Without the social aspect, I highly doubt these games would've been as fun. Maybe because all of my generation hadn't grown up with smartphones and the high power internet we've had for years.

I went on Old School RuneScape when it came out in 2013 and there were some other nostalgia players. I could tell before they even told me just because they could talk normally. Eventually most of us logged out because the novelty wore off. Having checked in a few times over the years since, it's like everyone has been progressively lobotomised. The average player is asocial or they just talk utter shit. Clan chats are just full of people talking about sex, pornography, Trump/Biden, etc.

The same goes for much of the rest of the internet, especially YouTube. I miss the old channels and the ability to message and become friends with people. Now, comments sections read like a horde of bots commenting similarly structured responses and the videos are hardly just people uploading fun; it's all about the dollar. It's as though the human soul has been exorcised from the internet "community".

I have nobody to rant to about this and nothing really constructive to post, I just miss how things were. It's quite hypocritical to be have posted this on Reddit of all places, seeing as it's one of the swords that cut down the good old forums. However, I digress. It's bittersweet to have grown up in the last generation before the internet boom.

The other night, I caught "Operation -- Annihilate!" on H&I's nightly run through all the Star Trek shows. I enjoyed it from a lot of different perspectives. It introduces Kirk's brother and, more broadly, the idea that he has a family apart from the ship. It famously gives us Spock's "inner eyelid" that saves him from blindness. And it is the first episode to have an extended outdoor shot, not a stage set -- which was actually pretty jarring, given the different lighting, etc. There were also a lot of interesting one-liners that I could recognize as the source of later episodes and tie-in novels. In short, exploring this corner of the Star Trek canon was a nice way to unwind after a long day at work.

But looking at the episode from a more objective perspective, I found it harder to enjoy. Why introduce Kirk's brother and kill him off is Kirk is hardly going to react at all? Why try to set up a moral dilemma where Kirk may have to kill "millions" to stop the spread of the virus when -- probably due to budget constraints -- the entire settlement was portrayed as being mostly empty? Doesn't Spock's internal eyelid feel a little cheap as a solution? And doesn't it break his character that he wouldn't think of or mention that possibility until it actually happens? What motivation could he have other than to rib McCoy? And aside from quibbles with the logic of the plot, the pacing dragged -- as often happens in TOS episodes. You can really see them struggling to fill the whole runtime.

In short, there's probably not much enduring value in "Operation -- Annihilate!" for someone not already invested in the idea of Star Trek. Only the fact that it is part of that bigger project makes it worthwhile to dig this baggy and kind of phoned-in sci fi story out of the archives. What it lacks in itself, the rich web of associations created by the franchise makes up for. And I would venture to say that "Operation -- Annihilate!" is close to the median TOS episode. If you were to pick episodes at random, that's the level of quality you're mostly getting.

This leads me to the title question: How many episodes of TOS would you feel comfortable recommending to someone who doesn't care about Star Trek and never will? I'm not asking for good introductory episodes for beginners here. I'm asking for episodes that hold up as standalone works of fiction -- episodes where the plot, characters, concepts, and moral dilemmas are still thought-provoking and enjoyable. Which episodes would be worth digging through the archive for if the Star Trek franchise had petered out in the early 70s, never to be heard from again?

Please show your work -- don't just give a title. What makes your chosen episode an enduring work that transcends "Star Trek"?

Might I recommend Plutonium? A lot of us PC players play with the Plutonium client

Yes, and this is the principle behind the rocket mass heater. It basically takes a very hot fire's smoke and sends it through a long duct inside something with a large thermal mass.

Almost all of the thermal energy is absorbed, but the draft from the hot fire at the other end pushes it through the system.

This mix playlist auto-played afterwards for me and her laugh (and attempts at speaking English on the show) are pretty heart-warming 😊

Carefree for the viewers but serious when it's called for šŸ¤—

There's an emoji version already.

The content doesn’t have to be the exact same but what other YouTubers do you guys watch? I like edgier shit overall, and I still watch whatever idubbbz makes, still watch Maxmoefoe, think of me what you will. I would prefer anime related content, but just need someone even half as funny and charismatic as Demo

If you haven't already found it, there's an entire forum dedicated to post-vax vertigo.

I got my ears irrigated by a nurse with a spray bottle with a little tube instead of a spray tip. It was like the size of a WD-40 tube but more flexible so it fit in without poking. It went way up in there and shot cold hydrogen peroxide inside me and it was one of the most borderline sexually climactic experiences I’ve ever had. The wildest things came out of my ears and it felt amazing. 13/10 better than poking stuff in.

Only downside is after that everything was super loud for a bit.

*EDIT: obligatory my highest comment is now about a borderline eargasm. Since people are asking, I literally just went to a walk in clinic and said ā€œI can’t hear, I think I have stuff in my ears.ā€ Talk to your GP, go to a walk in, or order the $12 spray bottle on Amazon and get some cold hydrogen peroxide. Enjoy.

Just for clarification, no I was not in a cult, although it would make for a much more interesting story.

I just have an interest in obscure regional puppet content from around the world, and remembered seeing this video years ago. Had no idea what the name was but I knew I sent a link to one of my friends on Discord when I saw it, so I managed to find it by searching old conversations.

I've seen this style on things like book covers from that era. Anyone know what sort of medium was used?

Chronic stress and anxiety causes tons of physical symptoms as well as mental and emotional distress.

  • Muscle tension, weakness, aches and pains, cramps, muscle twitches, jaw clenching
  • Chest pain or racing heart, heart palpitations, pounding heart, audible heartbeat
  • Hair loss, particularly on the crown of the head (telogen effluvium)
  • Body-focused repetitive behaviors - skin/scab picking, lip/nail/cheek biting, hair pulling, bouncing of legs or wringing hands, tapping fingers, fidgeting, etc.
  • Fatigue, exhaustion, irritability, difficulty focusing, forgetfulness or trouble with memory, insomnia, nightmares or trouble sleeping, frequent sleep disturbances
  • Persistent feeling of lump in throat or tightness in throat, known as globus sensation or oropharynx disorder
  • Paresthesia: numbness, tingling and burning sensations, pins and needles. It's connected to our troubles with muscle tension and therefore with circulation, as blood flow can become constricted by prolonged muscle tension. Moving more can help, changing position frequently, and sometimes it's worsened by Vitamin B deficiency so adding a B Complex can help. 5, 6, and 12 are most useful.
  • Headaches, dizziness, weakness, light-headedness, sweating or shaking
  • High blood pressure
  • Rashes or hives
  • Rapid breathing or shortness of breath
  • Hot flashes or chills, feeling overheated or very cold
  • Nausea, vomiting, gas, bloating, acid reflux, stomach or digestive problems including diarrhea and constipation, lack of appetite or increased appetite
  • Weak immune system, often getting colds for example

Muscle tension is one of the main hallmarks of generalized anxiety disorder - one of the six symptoms required for diagnosis, actually. It manifests in painless twitches or spasms, cramps and soreness. When you are on edge and anxious, your muscles are also tense and prolonged tension leads to pain from the strain on your muscles - just like how working out leads to soreness. I have GAD but also lifelong cerebral palsy which means tense, painful muscles are my default setting.Ā These things may help when it becomes painful:

Localized Pain

  • CBD oil or cream; icy/hot patches; cream with lidocaine; gentle, frequent stretches - stop when it hurts, repeat every few minutes; ginger-based muscle rub; Medistik

Widespread Pain

  • magnesium, potassium and Vitamin D3 supplementation; Cramp Medic; Dr. Rigg's Rhelief; Doloex (just in case you're on antidepressants, since NSAIDs are unsafe with antidepressants), but something like this or acetaminophen/Tylenol (cleared by my psychiatrist) would be less likely to raise risk of ulcers or hemorrhages than NSAIDs; hot bath with epsom salts or mustard powder; gentle, frequent stretches - stop when it hurts, repeat every few minutes

Don't rule out a problem with your pillow or mattress exacerbating the problem, too, if it's painful for long periods.

Not the gif, but I found the video (I promise it's not a rick roll I spent 20min finding it lol) https://youtu.be/97jiy3bdE_Y

BILBO BAGGINS, DO NOT MISTAKE ME FOR AN OLD FRIEND, I'M HERE TO ROB YOU!

The world was different. All year I've been thinking about this....our planet had a different "vibe". It sort of, disappeared around 05-07. There was this vibe, it's hard to explain, but think of it almost like a universal shift. Like a glitch in our matrix. Something you don't notice until it's gone. The lighting, the atmosphere and smells of the local arcades and movie theaters...the sun just hit the earth in a different way.. It was easier to enjoy the small things. The world wasn't perfect but it definitely felt more utopian than today.

Something about society today feels "off." I don't wanna blame it all on technology but things just don't sit well with me. Instant updates, instant camera, instant flashlight, instant movies, instant chatting, instant this, instant that.. a false sense of reality.. We were not made to live like this

Put down your phone even for 24 hours, go out in public and you'll see what I'm talking about here..you feel like the only human in a sea of zombie biological androids.

Anyways like I said life wasn't perfect back then but our universe felt more "chill"...more of a relaxed nature...not as much information overload.

Idk..maybe I just dwell on the past too much man...Like I said it's hard to explain but there was definitely this vibe or feeling in that time period that no longer exists

This program made a huge difference for me. Simple & easy to follow, only equipment needed is a resistance band.

"I can't find [song] and the guides are confusing. Help!"

I will be more than happy to help you out personally, just shoot me a message!

"What's this song that sounds like [song] but is more mellow/is only piano/sounds different?"

There are two possible things here. First, it could be that it's a remix of the song (Like ERENthe標 and son2seaVer and being remixes of Counterattack Mankind, EMAymniam being a remix of E.M.A., etc.).

It could also be that only certain parts, or instruments, of a song are used because Sawano has creative control over the show's music usage and can use only certain tracks if he wants to. I call these versions "TV Edits". Only the version with all instruments playing is released, so it's safe to say there is nowhere to listen to the "TV Edits" of the OST besides the scenes themselves.

"Why do you nickname the tracks?"

Sawanese is a nightmare to communicate in. I've received some complaints from Sawano fans that they defeat the purpose of his naming conventions or that they're pointless, but honestly, who wants to discuss OST with alarmingly long code name jargon all the time? The nicknames are purely for simplicity's sake when discussing the songs, not for labeling the songs themselves. However, if you want to dig deep into why these tracks are named the way they are, check out /u/MBgov1133's wonderful Track Name Decoding Thread!

can’t wait for the new endless evil death rolls deal at Olive Garden

Nietzsche, on the type of person who would tear down statues of Grant and Cervantes. I apologize for the long quotation, but it's really worth reproducing with as full a context as possible.

"It is not justice which here sits in judgment; even less it is mercy which here pronounces judgment: but life alone, that dark, driving, insatiably self-desiring power. Its verdict is always unmerciful, always unjust, because it has never flowed from a pure fountain of knowledge....It takes a great deal of strength to be able to live and to forget how far living and being unjust are one. Luther himself once thought that the world came to be through an oversight of God: for had God thought of "heavy artillery" he would never have created the world. Occasionally, however the same life which needs forgetfulness demands the temporary destruction of this forgetfulness; then it is to become clear how unjust is the existence of some thing, a privilege, a caste, a dynasty for example, how much this thing deserves destruction. Then its past is considered critically, then one puts the knife to its roots, then one cruelly treads all pieties underfoot. It is always a dangerous process, namely dangerous for life itself: and men or ages which serve life in this manner of judging and annihilating a past are always dangerous, and endangered men and ages. For since we happen to be the results of earlier generations we are also the results of their aberrations, passions, and errors, even crimes: it is not possible quite to free oneself from this chain. If we condemn those aberrations and think ourselves quite exempt from them, the fact that we are descended from them is not eliminated. At best we may bring about a conflict between our inherited, innate nature and our knowledge, as well as a battle between a strict new discipline and ancient education and breeding. It is an attempt, as it were, a posteriori to give oneself a past from which one would like to be descended in opposition to the past from which one is [actually] descended;-- always a dangerous attempt because it is so difficult to find a limit in denying the past and because second natures are mostly feebler than the first. Too often we stop at knowing the good without doing it because we also know the better without being able to do it. Yet here and there a victory is achieved nevertheless, and for the fighters who use critical history for life there is even a remarkable consolation; namely, to know that this first nature also was, at some time or other, a second nature and that every victorious nature becomes a first."

Basically, once you begin pulling down statues, it's difficult to stop. This is dangerous because you give rope to the people who simply hold a blind preference for new things over old, are generally ignorant, and attack the contradictions of the old society without charting any sort of workable course to a better one. Because it is most critical, it seems most just. It isn't. These people would burn it all down if they could, because it came out of a past that is inherently, irredeemably racist. Nothing is worth preserving, because they don't know anything about it beyond its awful racist qualities. It doesn't matter that Grant defeated the foremost slave power in the western hemisphere. It doesn't matter that Cervantes wrote the first modern novel and was a slave himself. If it is old, it is racist, and it must be destroyed and forgotten. Again, I apologize for the essay, but it is worth trying to diagnose this degenerate thinking as I doubt this is the last we'll see of it.

Not going to lie, this lady is right about the breathing exercise. She might be doing it wrong but the Wim Hof method of breathing is similar in a way as it’s goal is to oxidize your brain by taking in more oxygen than you let out and if done correctly you can do seemingly super human things.

If you are not familiar with Wim he is the iceman and has actually brought this method to science and has submerged himself in ice baths, etc. with doctors in the room to monitor him and with this breathing method he can stay in freezing cold ice for a long time, not get hypothermia and his body temp remains the same. I like that he brought this to science and proved that the body can do insane things. He can even control his immune system.

When vice did cool stuff they did a documentary on him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaMjhwFE1Zw There is more information out there about the ā€œice manā€ and Wim was even was on the Joe Rogan Experience.

He would wreck this lady at mall walking too.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I love his videos. The one on the HHO generator is my favorite, I built one just like it.

I'm not sure how to explain this well. For one thing, I am mainly an introvert and I LOVE living alone. I get to come home from work, strip down to my underwear, play guitar wherever I want in the apartment, say stupid shit to myself, etc. On the other hand, I sometimes start getting lonely and sort of wish I had more friends and a more active social life. It's almost like I want good friends and a girlfriend that ONLY want to hang out on the weekends, but also are very good friends to me. Is anyone like this? And if so, how have you managed to balance this?

Edit: Thank you everyone for responding. I can't get around to responding to everyone, but I would like to let you all know that I very much appreciate you guys sharing your personal thoughts on the matter, as it makes me feel that I am not alone on this issue.

I would like to add another detail about my situation. There's also the fact that I have severe insomnia and I toss and turn in my sleep constantly, which makes it near impossible to be able to actually sleep in a bed with another person. I felt insanely uncomfortable with my last girlfriend for this very reason. Normally, I would toss and turn a bunch and if I couldn't sleep I would sometimes just get out of bed at like 4 or 5 a.m and start pacing around, play guitar, or just watch TV. I find that this would be nearly impossible if there was someone else here with me.

The bartender asks, "How's it going?" The North Korean soldier replies, "Can't complain!"

I’m in community college for my bachelors and working 5 days a week at a minimum wage job. I constantly have to tell people I’m too busy. Too busy to come to their houses for GOT, too busy to visit with my grandma. I’m too busy to go to my boyfriends parents house and have dinner. You get the idea.

Basically I’m either: - getting ready for work (shower+makeup+outfit+driving there=2 hours prior to my shift)

  • at work

  • at home after work eating/sleeping/shitting

  • at school (the two days I have as a ā€œweekendā€ are the two days I go to school)

  • studying

  • doing laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, getting gas, etc

What I don’t get is, how are adults who work full time able to have full on lives with unique hobbies when I can’t even find time to visit my grandma for a day? I feel like it’s just a given in the US that everyone is gritty enough to work 40 hours AND clean the house AND have a social life AND have a bunch of side hobbies that dictate your personality. Nobody ever questions it.

Even people who don’t go to school, it’s like you only have 48 hours each week (Saturday and Sunday) to actually do what you want, and most people need time to clean and to relax and recharge before working the next week, right? Does everybody just go, go, go, go, all the time, never stopping to breathe?

I thought I would have more freedom and downtime as an adult...

Edit: thank you kind anon for the silveršŸ™šŸ½

Hi everyone

Someone just offered me a Google Home Mini, I tried it for a few hours, and i have to tell it could be pretty useful sometimes, but for a lot of reasons including privacy, i wont use it anymore.

I heard a lot about open source voice assistant, saw a lot of projects like MyCroft, Stephanie, Linto, Jarvis but i never used it and I was wondering if some of you are using one of them daily.

Are they useful enough to be sitting on your desk ? I'm French but English recognition would be great.

Thanks for reading :)

I recently bought a CR-10S Pro, and am pretty happy with it. It has some things you have to figure out in the beginning, but once you found everything, it really is a decent machine.

But what really bothers me, is that here on reddit, and other places, there is tons of information about the CR10's floating around, but not organized at all, making finding tips, upgrades, fixes, ... a really annoying job.

Can't we at least on this subreddit have one or a few sticky posts that get updated with useful getting started info for the CR10 printers, a list of upgrades, firmwares, ...

And preferably, as a community, also get to a "consensus" on which firmware, which upgrades are good, do you replace the abl sensor or not, ...

Usually i'm annoyed when people keep asking the same questions in communities, but seeing how scattered the info on these printers is, i get why we'll always be stuck in a loop answering the same questions. There doesn't seem a place where consensus can be formed, where discussion can go on longer than a day or 2 so consensus is formed, where info is even slightly managed.

It's really frustrating seeing so much knowledge in this community float around and not getting aggregated anywhere it seems.

I hope i'm missing some awesome forum or site or .... somewhere, but after quite some googling and looking around, i just can't find anything. The knowledge is there, the community is there, the sites are there, only that last step of aggregating & moderating it a bit seems to be completely missing? :s

If it's an issue of manpower, maybe some extra mods are needed here?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to set up Bitwarden_rs and Traefik on a DigitalOcean droplet, but I'm not having much luck. I've successfully gotten Traefik working (although it took around ten hours) and now I'm trying to use Bitwarden_rs with it.

Currently, whenever I try and connect to warden.domain.tld, I get an error message saying that:

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

I also get this:

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported.

Here are my traefik.toml and docker-compose.yaml files. I removed some personal info for privacy reasons, but the rest is exactly how it looks on the server. I would love any help I can get - I'm new to all this and thoroughly stumped!

EDIT: Fixed! For people in the future, try recreating your acme.json file. If you get a gateway timeout warning after, remove traefik.docker.network=web and replace it with networks: web.

The good news here is you only have to set this up one time - it is rather confusing and many many people miss the step of whitelisting the email they will be using to send books to their kindle.

If you want to find more free ebooks or see what is uploaded to public domain sources over the next few days subscribe to r/FreeEBOOKS.

Here is an article about the release of works to the public domain

Project Gutenberg is one of the main sources for free public domain ebooks.

Ebooks added this way will sync across devices like any ebook you get from Amazon.

Please ask questions in the comments below if you are having trouble figuring this out - I plan to edit the instructions as I find where folks are confused.

1 - Find your send to kindle email address

First you need to find your send to kindle email address. There are two ways to do this on your kindle or on the Amazon website, it’s way easier to find on your kindle.

Easy way: On your kindle: Click the gear icon -> All Settings -> Your Account -> your send to kindle email will be listed on this page.

Harder way: Go to Amazon.com then click Accounts & lists->

https://i.redd.it/up315qw13h721.jpg

under ā€œDigital content and devicesā€ click ā€œContent and Devicesā€ ->

https://i.redd.it/bfxxh6a53h721.png

Click ā€œDevicesā€ in the menu near the top ->

https://i.redd.it/94bpbnx63h721.png

click the ā€œā€¦ā€ next to you kindle in the device list you see on that page. Your send to kindle email will be listed in the small box that appears. If you are on mobile you will see a gallery of images of kindles and app icons - click a kindle and you will see your send to kindle email address displayed below.

https://i.redd.it/id3hyxh83h721.png

(Do not be alarmed if you see a shitload of devices listed, every time you download the kindle app on something it counts as a device - I have ā€œdevicesā€ going back for many years of phones)

Your send to kindle email address will be some variation on your name + @kindle.com

2 - Make sure the email you will be sending emails from to your send to kindle email address is whitelisted. If the email you send books from to your kindle is not white listed you will never get the books.

On Amazon.com click ā€œAccount & Listsā€ ->

https://i.redd.it/6uzd07wj3h721.jpg

under ā€œDigital content and devicesā€ click ā€œContent and Devicesā€ ->

https://i.redd.it/0sbp037l3h721.png

click ā€œPreferences" in the top bar of that page ->

https://i.redd.it/33gegntn3h721.png

Click ā€œPersonal Document Settingsā€ ->

https://i.redd.it/xv33a2eq3h721.png

find ā€œApproved Personal Document E-mail Listā€ on that page -> make sure the email you will be using to send books to your kindle is listed there.

https://i.redd.it/cyzhtkor3h721.png

3 - Let’s send a book.

Go to a book on Project Gutenberg -> click either Kindle (with images) or Kindle (no images) to download the version of the ebook you would like to send to your kindle.

https://i.redd.it/8r8zroxw3h721.png

Now open a new email message - fill in your send to kindle email address in the to field, then drag the book file into the email. Click send.

Go to your kindle library and sync to make sure the book downloaded.

I typically send ebooks to my kindle from my phone or iPad - you will follow the same process but often when you download a file your device will ask you what you want to do with the file - just choose email and send away.

"Debugger"="cmd.exe /c echo %DATE% %TIME% suppressed automatic reboot >> C:\\UpdateOrchestrator.log"

Modify it however you like, i doesn't have to output anything to a log file. This is just how i rolled it out in my company.

I tested this a lot and confidently say this is the most unintrusive method i know to supress automatic reboots, nag screens, update notifications and the lot.
Windows Update uses this executable a lot. Not only for restarting, but for every type of notifications you can get about them. "Updates available", "You should really install updates right now", "Updates need to be installed, please restart" aswell as "Updates cannot be installed" won't appear anymore. Taken you are monitoring installed updates, which you should, this shouldn't be an issue.

While blocking the UpdateOrchestrator\Restart task, which basically just calls MusNotification.exe with some arguments, isn't new, Microsoft blocked disabling it in 1803. This feature has to stay for backwards compatibility, so i'm certrain this workaround won't be fixed any time soon.

To explain what the key does:
The Image File Execution Options subkeys actually can control a whole lot about how Windows executes files. The Debugger key was used by a lot of scareware back in the day. It redirects execution from every executable named like the key to the debugger and appends the original executable and all arguments to it. To my understanding this process would then normally be expected to set up a debug environment and start the actual process. Which we don't. So we effectively cut MusNotification.exe out of the chain and therefore preventing Windows Update from being so intrusive to the user.

Bonus: If anyone wants the powershell script to monitor installed windows updates that i use in conjunction with this i can post that too.

Hope this helps anyone.

Edit: To clarify. Updates installed normally. I know about the shit-ton of GPOs you can enroll that are supossed to give you control but to my experience Windows 10 Pro ignores all of them.
The only thing that this does is supressing notifications and automatic restarts.

Edit 2: There's the monitoring script: https://github.com/WhAtEvErYoUmEaN/CheckInstalledWindowsUpdates

I (23) graduated nearly a year ago, where I had a pretty good life, I meditated, I worked out... I went to uni every day and I got stuff done. I even started a masters programme.. before I dropped out

Now I'm literally doing nothing. Literally nothing... I have no job, no prospects, no willpower to look for one, I've stopped working out, I need to learn how to drive again (have my license but it's been years since I've driven), stopped meditating, stopped reaching out to friends and I think I'm just waiting for my girlfriend to get fed up by my shocking laziness and leave.

She hasn't said anything yet though, I think she thinks this is normal after graduating, because her brother had a hard time too.

I keep trying to form small habits but I'm struggling here, and I think I might be getting into a depressed state now and I try to work up the motivation to do something about that... But I just end up sitting doing nothing and procrastinating.

I tell myself I'm going to fuck up my life if I don't do anything... But I swear that just makes me even lazier (which probably sounds difficult but I still manage it somehow). I also sometimes try to be understanding with myself and be kind, but that's not helping either it's just like enabling my own bad habits.

I realise now that I can't find my way out of this one, if anyone has any advice I would be forever grateful :(.

Hi all,

I’ve recently deployed a VPN in Google Cloud with the hopes of using it for watching US Netflix from another country, however, it seems that Netflix have blocked the Google Cloud public IP range.

As such, I’m looking for an alternative VPS that I can migrate to, preferably with a free trial so I can test before I commit to it.

A static public IP is not necessary as I am utilising a dynamic DNS service.

I’m thinking AWS may be a good start, since I believe Netflix host a majority of their services working Amazon’s environment, with the thought process being that they would be less likely to block IP ranges that may be required by them.

Obviously I could just use an out of box VPN for this but this is far more fun.

Open to other suggestions as to how I could make this work.

Cheers

I don't know if this is quite it, but something needs to change.

Here in Canada, thousands upon thousands commute 1.5 hours to work every day because we're forced to live far outside the city due to housing being so expensive. We're then expected to put in 9 hours (unpaid lunch), and drive the same 1.5 hours back. That's 12 hours spent devoted to our job every single day, leaving maybe 4 hours per day for personal hygiene, house chores, raising our kids, socializing with our spouse, cooking meals, extracurricular, and relaxation time. Needless to say, something has to go without.

I've recently become laid off due to the bad economy so I've been staying home with my wife and kids. I'm happy. I'm over the moon happy. I play with them all day, we take walks, we talk about things. I can make them healthy delicious meals. I have time to sit down with my wife and actually talk. I've taken up old hobbies. It really feels like THIS is what life is supposed to be, but it's obviously going to be unattainable unless I figure out how to become a millionaire.

For the people who’ve really made it in the tech industry it’s a weird status symbol to be a complete fucking slob about something. Some guys with a big fancy title make a point to wear dirty old white T-shirts riddled with holes because they can or not wear shoes or not trim their facial hair ever, or some shit like that.

It’s not uncommon to see some homeless looking guy hop into his Tesla at the Whole Foods. There used to be this joke on google campus (where there are Google owned bicycles lying around for employees to use) that it was impossible to tell if you spotted a homeless guy stealing a gbike or if it was a distinguished engineer going to a meeting.

Starting To Stretch

Starting To Stretch is our own full-body flexibility program that was designed for r/flexibility beginners!

It consists of 10 stretches divided into 2 equal parts (upper body and lower body). The focus of the program is on inflexible beginners and their typical needs: Shoulders, Thoracic Spine, Hips, Hamstrings, Wrists and Calves. Almost every of the exercises can be progressed to a specific skill if done long enough.

Follow Along: You can follow along the whole routine with this video!

Cheat Sheet here: .png | .pdf

Programming

Do this program 2-3 times a week! It will take ~30 minutes. If you have time issues, you can switch between upper and lower body.

The stretching protocol is to be done in the following order. Try to go a little deeper each time after the bumping movements.

  • Do 10 small gentle bumping movements into the stretch
  • Hold the stretch for 10 seconds
  • Do 10 small gentle bumping movements into the stretch
  • Hold the stretch for 20 seconds
  • Do 10 small gentle bumping movements into the stretch
  • Hold the stretch for 30 seconds
  • Done. Don't forget to breathe!

The Stretches

Upper Body (Video)

  • Shoulder Backbend | The shoulder backbend focuses on shoulder overhead flexibility. This is important for many weightlifting exercises, but also for handstands and hand-balancing. It is also important for shoulder health, especially when older. Stand up with a straight bodyline, tense your butt muscles and move your arms overhead. Move your arms backwards without losing the straight bodyline. (Video)

  • Spine Backbend | The spine backbend focuses on thoracic spine mobility. If you ever dreamt of doing bridges on the floor, this is your exercise. A good thoracic spinal mobility can be progressed into all kinds of fancy exercises. Place your palms (or fingertips) on your shoulderblades and tense your butt. Now lean back without arching your lower back and move the arms. You can bend the knees a little. (Video)

  • Rear Hand Clasp | Did you ever want to scratch your back but couldn't reach the spot because you lacked behind-the-back flexibility? This is your exercise. It's good for your shoulderblades and to counter long sitting periods. This stretch is very important for upper body posture aswell! Get into a straight bodyline. Take a towel, a band or a t-shirt and grab both ends with your arms. One arm is overhead and one is behind the back. The upper arm pulls the lower arm gently into the stretch. Pull upwards. (Video)

  • Lying Cross | The lying cross is a stretch that is aimed at people with poor posture. Start on all fours and move one arm below the other arm until your shoulder touches the floor. To deepen the stretch, lay down on the floor and extend the non-stretched arm to the front. (Video)

  • Wrist-Biceps Stretch | This stretch works on your wrist flexibility and stretches your forearms, your biceps and your deltoid muscles. Stand next to a wall and place your palms on it. Fingers pointing backwards. Now straighten your arm and twist your upper body to the opposite direction. (Video)

Lower Body (Video)

  • One-Leg Pike | This stretches your hamstrings. Most people that sit on a computer all day have tight hamstrings, because those muscles are very tensed in a chair-sitting position. When you stretch them regularily, you can take load off your lower back. Flexible hamstrings progress into the pike stretch. Place your foot on a chair and lean forward with a straight back. If you're advanced enough to touch your toes with a straight back (!), then you can progress to the standing version of the stretch. (Video)

  • Kneeling Lunge | The kneeling lunge works on your hamstrings, your quads and your hip muscles like the iliopsoas. This is the most important stretch to gain flexibility for the front splits. Place one foot in front of you and extend it slowly with a straight back. Use your hands to balance yourself properly. (Video)

  • Pancake | The pancake stretches your hamstrings and your leg adductors. With strong leg adductors, you will have it much easier in martial arts and all dance moves. It also looks really cool in the full progression. Sit on the floor with a straight back and extend the legs to both sides. Lean forward. (Video)

  • Butterfly | A strong butterfly is a prequisite for the lotus sit. Sit on the floor with a straight back and move your soles together. Grab them with your hands and gently pull forward with a straight back. Try to bring your knees to the floor. If that's not yet possible, feel free to place a pillow under your knees. (Video)

  • Calf Stretch | Many people neglect their calf muscles, although it is necessary to give your calves some love. Tight calves love to cramp and hurt. It can prevent heel spurs and all kind of degenerative feet diseases to regularily stretch and strengthen your feet muscles. Grab something and bend one knee forward. Extend the back leg and try to push the heel into the ground. (Video)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn't you include [insert stretch]?!

Starting To Stretch is meant to give you the best "bang for your buck" and focuses on the most common problem areas. Feel free to insert your own specific stretch into the program!

How often should i do this program?

A good starting point would be two times a week. If you have the time, do it three times a week! If you lack time, split it up into upper and lower body and do both once a week.

Can i do this every day?

Absolutely! However, if you feel pain or discomfort, do it a bit less. Your muscles need rest too and stretching is taxing your nervous system quite hard.

I have medical condition [insert here], can i do the program?

There's no one-size-fits-all answer for this one. Ask on the subreddit and people will make sure to help you with your specific problem.

When should i do the program?

Any time when you are relatively stress free is perfect. When your mind is relaxed, stretching is easier. Don't do it before a workout, because it increases injury risk. After a workout is fine!

I don't like this stretch: [insert stretch], can i replace it with something else?

Absolutely! You won't benefit from stretches that you don't do, because you hate them. Switch them up as much as you like and need.

Have anything to add or any questions? Shoot me a message: u/tykato

Looking to hear from you, what do you recommend to streamline or just automate parts of your life?

Here's some examples I've used:

Ā· NOTES: Keep notes app organized with "Incoming" note to dump ideas, and a few others to keep them sorted with TODOs etc.

Ā· PAPER MAIL: Send all mail (except packages) to travelingmailbox.com to have it all scanned and emailed, or optimally forwarded (also auto deposits checks)

Ā· PHOTOS: Create Nested"Type">"Year">"Event" Photo groups, for example "Day Trips">"2018">"Axe Making" or "USA">"2017">"Florida", BUT also even more importantly adding a smart group called "No Album Photos" with a rule of "Album" "is not" "Any". This allows you to only to quickly go through and group photos in an hour or so once a month. ALSO, Use "Scanner Pro" or similar app to scan ALL photos in photo books to digitize them and backup on and offline. Get rid of photo books.

Ā· EMAIL: Inbox zero as much as possible. Unsubscribe from mailing lists (Use an RSS Reader if possible to keep up on news instead) and create rules to delete all statements, etc. you cannot unsubscribe from.

Ā· NEWS: Use an RSS Reader with grouped feeds to avoid opening a ton of site.

Ā· FINANCE: Automate all bills and payments. Go paperless and create a rule to delete all statements (can get them from deleted items much later if needed). Use Mint, set calendar event to check for mistaken/suspicious purchases every two weeks.

Ā· FOOD: Use Paprika (an app) to VERY quickly tap to make a list of everything you need to buy and sync it between phones to be able to split up and shop at opposite sides of the store to cut shopping time in half. If you can get delivery of groceries, do that. Also scan in all recipes into paprika (VERY easy) and put a cheap iPad in kitchen. Check out Imperfect produce for cheap produce deliveries (organic also). Try Sunbasket for pre portioned meals to cook. There are other options for anything from cheese to meats these days also.

Ā· GYM: Cancel membership and buy a decent cheap rack for $500 or so, get weights on craigslist. Try to have things setup to use at all times to save time and avoid procrastinating, make it as easy as possible.

Ā· BOOKS: Audiobooks on 2x are awesome, unless it's something very detailed that takes a lot of focus to remember. But for some stories, simpler concepts it can be great. Check our your local libraries online system to download FREE audiobooks in MP3 format.

Ā· CLOTHING: Simplify your wardrobe. Find nice Tees, dress shirts, whatever you like, and just but 4 or 5 in 3 colors. That's just one example but cuts down the need to spend a lot of time and money matching things. Sort of like Steve jobs but not as dad bod style lol.

Ā· MONEY: Use apps to send cash, scan checks whenever possible. If you need quarters for a laundry machine, get a TON at once, like a box ($500 I think) to last a whole year.

Ā· TRAVEL: AVOID TOURS (lots are expensive and just sitting in a bus). Fly out on Tuesdays for cheaper prices. GET GLOBAL ENTRY. Many people do not know about this, TSA Pre-Check is around $75 (last I looked) and Global Entry is only $25 more, however it gives you Pre-Check PLUS Expedited entry (like pre-check) internationally and lasts for 5 years. For $20 a year you can skip lines at most airports, not need to take your shoes and/or belt off, etc. Also check out Travelzoo.com for a non-spammy newsletter about last minute flash sales with large airlines to get cheap tix if you don't mind not booking right away.

Ā· PHONES: Put all the apps you rarely use into folders, have ONE screen with apps/folders, turn off ALL annoying notifications (things you don't care to know about right away). Set away mode / dnd for 10PM-9AM for example.

Ā· DOCUMENTS: Scan ALL important documents, organize nested folders and have them backed up on and offline. (Ideally backup to external ssd hd and store in a fireproof briefcase with social security cards, etc.) Organize by PERSONAL/INFO BACKUP/BIRTH CERTIFICATE/ etc. Have a root folder called "PERSONAL UNSORTED" and / or "BUSINESS UNSORTED". Create a right click shortcut to "Send to PERSONAL UNSORTED Folder" and one for "Send to BUSINESS UNSORTED Folder" to keep desktop clear. Schedule time to sort them all later. Yes I know you can use Evernote also, I prefer this since it's what I'm used to but Evernote is also good.

Ā· BROWSER: ALWAYS Use Adblock on desktop AND mobile. Organize Bookmarks into folders such as "MUSIC", "CODING", etc. Remove extra extensions/buttons you don't need/use. Install a quick search plugin to type "y top 10 unexplained whatever" to search youtube. W for wikipedia, etc.

Ā· PASSWORDS: Use keychain on Mac in safari to generate strong passwords automatically. If you use windows/android or another browser other than safari on Mac, consider using 1password. This app does the same thing and will both prompt you to change a password when a site like yahoo announces compromised email/passwords, and tell you if you have any weak passwords or any reused. You can securely keep all of them with just one password to remember.

Ā· CALENDAR: Create a personal, finance, and shared calendar. Share the shared calendar with your partner, etc. This way you can both see if things are booked and not need to ask for reminders or check something separately. Very easy to do and saves plenty of time/double bookings if you are busy on weekends and forget to remind each other, etc.

Ā· BULK: Buy things in larger amounts if you have space and money. For example, buy 4 containers of laundry soap at once. If you have a chest style freezer you can buy large amounts of things like salmon, etc. if they are on sale in your area and save time. Pre portion before freezing and have some recipes that are good for many ingredients or just 10 to 20 that you make consistently. This way you can easily grab things and know what you will make without needing to find more recipes constantly.

Ā· READ ESSENTIALISM: This book gives excellent examples of the mindset and practical uses of keeping things streamlined in life. There's also a good bit in the book "The 4 Hour Work Week" under automation and if you want a visual assistant, check out the book "Virtual Freedom" by Chris Ducker on best practices.

I'm sure there are more but this is just a few off the top of my head, if you have any other suggestions, please post them here also, I'm very interested to see what other people find useful. Thank you!

Nothing will ever top the since-removed Wikipedia break-down of it:

On a cool, clear night (typical to Southern California) Warren G travels through his neighborhood, searching for women with whom he might initiate sexual intercourse. He has chosen to engage in this pursuit alone.

*Nate Dogg, having just arrived in Long Beach, seeks Warren. Ironically, Nate passes a car full of women who are excited to see him. He insists to the women that there is no cause for excitement. *

  • Warren makes a left at 21st Street and Lewis Ave, where he sees a group of young men enjoying a game of dice together. He parks his car and greets them. He is excited to find people to play with, but to his chagrin, he discovers they intend to relieve him of his material possessions. Once the hopeful thieves reveal their firearms, Warren realizes he is in a considerable predicament. *

  • Meanwhile, Nate passes the women, as they are low on his list of priorities. His primary concern is locating Warren. After curtly casting away the strumpets (whose interest in Nate was such that they crashed their automobile), he serendipitously stumbles upon his friend, Warren G, being held up by the young miscreants. *

  • Warren, unaware that Nate is surreptitiously observing the scene unfold, is in disbelief that he's being robbed. The perpetrators have taken jewelry and a name brand designer watch from Warren, who is so incredulous that he asks what else the robbers intend to steal. This is most likely a rhetorical question. *

  • Observing these unfortunate proceedings, Nate realizes that he may have to use his firearm to deliver his friend from harm. *

  • The tension crescendos as the robbers point their guns to Warren's head. Warren senses the gravity of his situation. He cannot believe the events unfolding could happen in his own neighborhood. As he imagines himself escaping in a surreal fashion, he catches a glimpse of his friend, Nate. *

  • Nate has seventeen cartridges (sixteen residing in the pistol's magazine, with a solitary round placed in the chamber and ready to be fired) to expend on the group of robbers. Afterward, he generously shares the credit for neutralizing the situation with Warren, though it is clear that Nate did all of the difficult work. Putting congratulations aside, Nate quickly reminds himself that he has committed multiple homicides to save Warren before letting his friend know that there are females nearby if he wishes to fornicate with them. *

  • Warren recalls that it was the promise of copulation that coaxed him away from his previous activities, and is thankful that Nate knows a way to satisfy these urges. Nate quickly finds the women who earlier crashed their car on Nate's account. He remarks to one that he is fond of her physical appeal. The woman, impressed by Nate's singing ability, asks that he and Warren allow her and her friends to share transportation. Soon, both friends are driving with automobiles full of women to the East Side Motel, presumably to consummate their flirtation in an orgy. *

  • The third verse is more expository, with Warren and Nate explaining their G Funk musical style. Warren displays his bravado by daring anyone to approach the style. There follows a brief discussion of the genre's musicological features, with special care taken to point out that in said milieu the rhythm is not in fact the rhythm, as one might assume, but actually the bass. Similarly the bass serves a purpose closer to that which the treble would in more traditional musical forms. Nate displays his bravado by claiming that individuals with equivalent knowledge could not even attempt to approach his level of lyrical mastery. Nate goes on to note that if any third party smokes as he does, they would find themselves in a state of intoxication almost daily (from Nate's other works, it can be inferred that the substance referenced is marijuana). Nate concludes his delineation of the night by issuing a threat to "busters," suggesting that he and Warren will further "regulate" any potential incidents in the future (presumably by engaging their antagonists with small arms fire).*

After a fatal car crash in Maine, the obituary reads, "Jeffrey lost his battle against a literal ton of speeding Hummer and the very laws physics themselves. He will be missed".

My dad escaped Yugoslavia as the entire system was collapsing. War, poverty, and inflation... oh, the inflation. Yugoslav money meant nothing anymore, and he was forced to buy US dollars from the Albanian mafia. He did this several times, building up his savings for a plane ticket to America. One day, the police came down the main alleyway, and everybody ran the other way except for my father, who ducked into a nearby shop. At the other end of the street, more police were waiting, and they arrested everybody who ran that way. To this day, my dad credits his escape as having "gone to the side... not against the crowd, nor with it". This story, translated roughly from Serbian, means a lot to me. I've extended it to many parts of my life. I always do my own thing, careful to not get caught up in mob mentality or go against one either. It's an excellent life philosophy, an individualistic way of looking at it but extremely helpful for being successful. And, if I ever get caught up in a police raid, I'll know what to do.

Hello all

I asked you people if you are interested in learning Python by writing a Reddit bot some time back on r/learnprogramming. I received immense number of responses, so I'm posting it on r/python. It covers the process, practices and tools involved in writing a Reddit bot in Python.

Please post your feedback and questions in comments, and I'll be happy to answer them.

Requirements:

  1. You are somewhat familiar with programming in general, and have an idea about Python or other languages (like what are variables etc)
  2. You are on a Unix-like system with access to command line tools
  3. Familiarity with git and Github (Not really required...it is better if you are familiar)
  4. A Reddit account

Even if you don't meet these requirements...no need to worry!

Introduction

Writing a bot for Reddit is easier than you think, because Reddit provides a structured method to access its data via the Reddit API. There are amazing tools like PRAW which can help simplify the process. PRAW is a Python wrapper for Reddit, and it takes the pain out of the process of writing a bot.

And as I said earlier, Python is an great language, which is easy to grasp for beginners. What even more amazing is it's community, which has made incredible open-source tools and libraries for almost anything. We will be using some of those, and you will realise how useful they are!

Important information - Please read

  1. While this post will cover a variety of programming topics, I highly encourage you to explore more. Go ahead and read the documentation of libraries used and think about how can you improve something in your project. I will possibly add more topics to this post.

  2. Please DO NOT CREATE SPAM by letting your bot run on all of Reddit before you have thoroughly tested it. r/test exists for you to do all sorts of testing with your bot...please use it. Refer to botiquette and keeping in mind the type of bot you create, comply with the guidelines.

The code and resources

I jus wrote a bot for Reddit, which posts a textual explanation of the popular webcomic xkcd whenever it encounters an xkcd link. It is named explainxkcdbot. As of now, I have set my bot to run on r/test only to let you people test it all you want.

You can find the complete source code on my Github page - https://github.com/aydwi/explainxkcdbot

Here is the code for the bot - https://github.com/aydwi/explainxkcdbot/blob/master/explainxkcdbot.py

How to run the bot

The process is given here - https://github.com/aydwi/explainxkcdbot/blob/master/README.md

If you have any problems in running the bot, please let me know in the comments.

Let us begin

We will move forward step-by-step in the code, and see what is going on.

Section 1 - Importing libraries

https://gist.github.com/aydwi/e5e4f294b66adf1cb025a70a0392f847

This is the beginning of the program. Any line which begins with a # sign is a comment in Python, so it is not interpreted as code. Then we import the essential libraries required for out program. These libraries contain the methods (or functions) which we will use throughout our program. The syntax is pretty straightforward. Next we see 3 variables with some values assigned to them. More on them later.

Section 2 - Authenticating

https://gist.github.com/aydwi/b941d04d8128e415d6630e961cc97988

This is where important things begin. Before proceeding, you should have a basic idea of what are classes and methods in Python. One more important thing is an object - it is an instance of class, which holds the data variables declared in class and the member functions work on these objects. Please make a comment if you do not understand, I will try to explain.

def authenticate(): defines a function which will try to authenticate the bot to Reddit. This is where PRAW comes into play as it provides us methods to do this. Remember we created a praw.ini file earlier. It is a configuration file that stores authentication credentials, so that you just call it whenever needed.

Next, we pass authentication parameters to praw.Reddit(). Here explainbot refers to the credentials in the configuration file, and user_agent is a descriptive string about your script/bot. This returns a Reddit instance, which we assign to the variable reddit, and use this variable whenever we wish to authenticate.

Next up, we make a print statement to see who is getting authenticated i.e. the name. The user class in PRAW provides methods for the currently authenticated user. We call the method me() on user and then call it on the variable holding the Reddit instance for authentication, which in our case is reddit. So the statement becomes reddit.user.me(). We just use some formatting in python to print it.

Finally we return the variable reddit. Now i can use this authenticate() function in my program by calling it when I need it, and it will give me the variable reddit, which stores the Reddit instance.

Important note 1: Why did I create a function? It is because creating functions makes us easy to manage out code. We write separate functions for separate features of the program, and call them wherever needed. This breaks the code into manageable chunks, which makes it easy to read, modify and debug.

Section 3 - Scraping

https://gist.github.com/aydwi/699123424e7b38da19d62e69339e859c

Next up is the function def fetchdata(url). Notice how this function takes a parameter url. We pass this parameter whenever we call this function. The purpose of this function is to scrape/gather the data from the web, in order to post an explanation.

Now scraping is not a very reliable process, but sometimes we just have to do it. We go to a website, go through it's HTML source, and extract the text, links etc. that we want. Here we use Requests library to make a web request, and Beautiful Soup to extract the data.

r = requests.get(url) gives a Response object called r. We can get all the information we need from this object. Then we call the method content on r, and pass it to soup = BeautifulSoup(r.content, 'html.parser'), which gives us a soup object with which we can retrieve elements of a web page. Read more here.

Now what happens depends on what are you scraping. Every website has different type of content, and you should go through the HTML to see how can you retrieve what you want. In my case http://explainxkcd.com has it's explanation inside the first few <p> tags, so I look for the first <p> tag by tag = soup.find('p'). Also, immediately after the explanation ends, <h2> tag follows, so I know where to stop. Now take a look here-

while True:
    if isinstance(tag, bs4.element.Tag):
        if tag.name == 'h2':
            break
        if tag.name == 'h3':
            tag = tag.nextSibling
        else:
            data = data + '\n' + tag.text
            tag = tag.nextSibling
    else:
        tag = tag.nextSibling

I continue to look through the tags, and store textual data in a string named data and move to the next tag. I break the process if I encounter <h2> because I know that is where explanation ends. The code depends on the structure of website you are scraping. Finally, I return data, so that now when I call the function like fetchdata('http://explainxkcd.com/1024') for example, it returns me the explanation of comic 1024 as a string named data.

Important note 2: Scraping is unreliable. If the website changes it's structure, you have to change your code. In this case, it can still include some tags which we don't want. The line if (tag.name == 'h3') in the above function is for handling one such unexpected situation I encountered on http://explainxkcd.com. This is why we like to have APIs.

Section 4 - Using regular expressions, parsing URLs, handling exceptions and preventing duplicate submissions

https://gist.github.com/aydwi/700db3e46770d13fe89356d0fa4f570d

This function which takes a parameter which is a Reddit instance (remember that Reddit instance from Section 1). Again we use PRAW to get one or more subreddits, and go through their comments. See here and here.

You can pass multiple subreddits like for comment in reddit.subreddit('test+learnprogramming+pics').

Regular Expressions: Now I want to extract xkcd links from the comments, so I need to look for a pattern for the URL. xkcd links are of the form https://www.xkcd.com/[some number]. So we make use of regular expressions from the re library to match the pattern. More about regular expressions.

match = re.findall("https://www.xkcd.com/[0-9]+", comment.body)
    if match:
print("Link found in comment with comment ID: " + comment.id)
        xkcd_url = match[0]

Here I look for all strings that are like https://www.xkcd.com/[some number] using the method findall from user comments, and if it matches, it returns a list with the matching URL, and we store our URL in the variable xkcd_url.

Important note 3: Try to find out regular expressions (regex) to improve this program. What happens if a user posts 'https://xkcd.com/1024' or http version as 'http://www.xkcd.com/1024'. These are still valid xkcd URLs. There can be some other cases where the URL might be placed between a bunch of symbols in a comment. Try to modify the regex statement so that it can detect these cases as well.

URL parsing: Now I have an xkcd URL. I have 2 immediate objectives now-

Objective 1. To extract the comic number at the end of the URL. We use urllib.parse for this purpose.

url_obj = urlparse(xkcd_url)
        xkcd_id = int((url_obj.path.strip("/")))

Objective 2. Form a complete explainxkcd.com URL, which I will pass as a parameter to the function fetchdata(url) (See Section 2)

myurl = 'http://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/' + str(xkcd_id)

Both objectives are thus complete.

Preventing duplicate submissions and Exception handling: The bot needs to make sure it replies to every comment only once. There are many methods you can try which include using a separate key-value database like Memcached, but we will use a simpler approach.

Just create a text file (remember commented.txt), store the comment ID of a comment in it when you visit a relevant comment, and verify if a comment ID already exists in that file before making new comments. Remember to put the location of the text file in the path variable (from Section 1), so that you can pass it to the method open().

Now, what happens when a user makes a comment like 'https://www.xkcd.com/689243348723'. This xkcd does not exist, but the program will extract '689243348723', then form a link like http://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/689243348723, and pass it to the function fetchdata(url). Now the function will return an exception and your program will stop/crash. You need to take care of these situations.

This is achieved using try, except and else blocks. See here Here is the code for these 2 steps-

file_obj_r = open(path,'r')

        try:
            explanation = fetchdata(myurl)
        except:
            print('Exception!!! Possibly incorrect xkcd URL...\n')
            # Typical cause for this will be a URL for an xkcd that does not exist (Example: https://www.xkcd.com/772524318/)
        else:
            if comment.id not in file_obj_r.read().splitlines():
                print('Link is unique...posting explanation\n')
                comment.reply(header + explanation + footer)

                file_obj_r.close()

                file_obj_w = open(path,'a+')
                file_obj_w.write(comment.id + '\n')
                file_obj_w.close()
            else:
                print('Already visited link...No reply needed\n')

Notice how I make a reply to a relevant comment by using the variables from Section 1 to print header and footer description alongside the explanation - comment.reply(header + explanation + footer)

Next we make some sleep statements to stop the bot from querying Reddit too fast. If the Reddit API returns an error due to too many requests, adjust val in the instances of time.sleep(val) in your program.

Section 5: The main function

https://gist.github.com/aydwi/99323ebd710428f4590077a844236f83

We are almost done here. We wrap our functions into a main function by calling authenticate() (remember Section 1) and passing it to the function which runs the bot, namely run_explainbot(reddit). Since we are calling it inside while loop with the expression 'True', it will run indefinitely.

My bot in action

Test post to show the bot in action: https://redd.it/6tey71 (Since I'm not running it continuously as of now, it won't reply to every comment containing an xkcd link there)

My Terminal emulator while running the bot: http://imgur.com/4TzEyor

Finally, if you want to take this project further, you are welcome to contribute code to my Github repository. You can fork it (please note that there are still some checks to be added in order to make the bot more Reddit friendly) or open a pull request. I'll try to add more details about file handling and scraping aspects of the program once I get some time.

Some background

I play on a Dell XPS 9550 laptop, which isn't a gaming rig by any means - but it can play most modern games at 1080p on high. The one game I always had problems with was overwatch. Even on 1080p/medium/max frames 60, the game felt all jittery. I'd get a consistent 60 FPS, but it didn't feel like it.

Even weirder, even though my GPU wasn't struggling to push 60 frames, it would almost immediately jump up to 90 degrees C and throttle. Every time. No other games had this issue. It was all really weird, and I started searching for answers.

There were a lot of common "fixes" online. Most of them involved turning off "Game DVR" in Windows 10 or toggling "game mode." Neither of these helped me. So, I played for months with crappy performance and an overheating GPU.

The Fix

I finally stumbled across this reddit thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/645ukf/windows_10_cu_fullscreen_optimizations/

A Microsoft engineer was discussing "fullscreen optimization" and recommended toggling it off if you were having any sort of issues with fullscreen applications. It's not a recommendation I had seen anywhere else, but I figured I might as well give it a shot.

Night and day. I turned it off and everything in overwatch was suddenly buttery smooth. Also, rather than jumping up to 90 degrees and throttling, my GPU never got above 80 (with the same exact settings). I can now even bump the settings up to high and the GPU won't overheat. This one setting immediately fixed all my performance issues and dropped my temps by 10 degrees celcius. Pretty dramatic.

Other people say that disabling these optimizations solved issues with color, capped frames rates, etc. The default setting seems to potentially cause a huge variety of issues..

How to do it

It's easy. If you want to disable fullscreen optimization for just overwatch, navigate to overwatch.exe, right click > properties > compatibility > check "disable fullscreen optimizations."

If you want to disable it for games across the board (which is what I did), go to your general Windows settings (windows key > type "settings" > gaming > game bar > "record clips, screenshots..." OFF > UNCHECK "show game bar when I play fullscreen games microsoft has verified").

Note that you have to turn the game bar off AND uncheck "show game bar when I play..." Just doing one doesn't fully disable the overlay.

Cliffnotes

Windows 10 has a "fullscreen optimization" setting that is enabled by default. It basically allows for overlays on fullscreen applications, mostly so they can put their game bar on there. It also allows for overlays of windows volume sliders and stuff. However, it seems to cause serious issues for many people, including myself (especially in overwatch).

Disabling the game bar is a common suggestion, but alone is not a fix, as the overlay is still there. You need to disable the actual "optimization" setting to truly disable everything.

I'd recommend trying it even if you aren't having specific issues. Disabling it seems to increase smoothness and decrease input lag. Also, in my case, it dramatically decreased GPU load for some reason. It was night and day for me, and I am using a pretty popular laptop with really common nvidia/intel hardware and drivers.

That's it! I just thought I'd share since this doesn't seem to be a well-known solution, in case it helps someone else. Would be interested to know if it makes a difference for anyone else.

If you use these skills you'll connect with people on a deeper level than you're used to.

You'll learn to love talking with people, and people will love talking with you.

Skill #1 - A good listener doesn't listen to respond. They listen to learn.

"Listening" is not just "hearing". It's asking good questions that help you understand the other person.

My girlfriend told me "I don't like it when you tell me how to do things. I feel like you're judging me."

"I'm not judging you." I said. "It was just a suggestion."

I was not listening.

Regardless of how I experienced it, her experience was that I was judging her.

A bad listener focuses on explaining his own experience.

A good listener focuses on learning about the other person's experience:

"Which part makes you feel like I'm judging you?"

"Was it what I said, or how I said it?"

"How would you like me to make suggestions in future? Or would you prefer it if I didn't make suggestions?"

A good listener improves the way he relates with the other person by learning how they think. Learning what's important to them.

A bad listener learns nothing.

At an interview for a sales job I was asked "How will you bring us 10 new clients in your first month?"

I didn't have an answer prepared. I panicked and blurted out the usual ways of reaching new clients. It was an empty, generic answer.

I was not listening. Any monkey could've rattled off that list.

When the interviewer asked that question what he really wanted to know was: "Does this guy know what he is doing?"

A good listener would've unpacked the interviewer's question and learned what the interviewer was looking for:

"You know I haven't really thought about specific strategies. What's your biggest bottleneck right now in getting new clients on board?"

A good listener aims to understand deeply.

A bad listener misses the point.

Skill #2 - How to quickly find common interests (not the way you're thinking)

Don't get stuck in polite conversation. There's no "skin" invested in it. You've got to get at least a little bit naked (so to speak) in order to make friends with someone. Here's how you do it:

We humans have just 4Ā-8 basic emotions, depending on which study you read: joy, trust, fear, surprise, sadness, disgust, anger and anticipation. Everything we experience triggers a combination of these basic emotions. There aren’t that many combinations.

We may not have experienced the same activities, but we have experienced the same emotions. So when I say you need to find common interests, I mean you need to find something that sparks similar emotions in both of you.

Say Felipe is studying to be an architect, and Manuela is studying to be a doctor. Felipe doesn’t care about medicine and Manuela doesn’t care about Architecture. They ask each other polite questions:

Felipe: Oh I hear you have to study for a long time to be a Doctor. How many years do you have left?

Manuela: Yeah, I’ve got another 2 years. 7 total. Although you never really stop learning. What do you want to design when you graduate?

Felipe: Bridges. I mainly want to design bridges. But I guess I’d be happy designing anything.

Manuela: Yeah I know what you mean, I just want to graduate already as well!

This is pretty boring, right? Neither of them are offering or asking for emotional information. You need to make an effort to understand them. This chitĀchat isn’t going to cut it.

At this level of conversation they have to keep thinking of new topics every few seconds. The ideas will dry up pretty soon. This is why conversations often feel like hard work. It’s much easier to pause and explore one topic for a while.

So here’s what you do...

You don’t just listen to respond. You listen to understand. You go deeper.

  • Offer your own emotional information

  • AND dig for their emotional information.

Keep digging until you understand their way of thinking. Until you feel the emotion they’re talking about. Then show them that you understand by sharing a similar experience of your own.

These questions are your friends:

  • WHAT do you like about that?

  • WHAT made you want that?

  • WHAT scares you about that?

  • Essentially any question that uncovers ā€œWhat makes you feel that way?ā€ or ā€œWhat makes you think that way?ā€

WHAT tends to work better than WHY because WHAT feels like you’re curious and WHY can sometimes feel like an attack. ā€œWHY do you like that?" ā€œBecause I do. What's your problem?!"

So back to Felipe and Manuela. Now that they know how to ā€œlisten to understandā€, how does their conversation go?

Felipe: I mainly want to design bridges. But I guess I’d be happy designing anything.

Manuela: What do you like about designing bridges specifically?

Felipe: Well I haven't actually designed one yet, but for some reason I keep picturing myself standing on top of a huge bridge that I designed. I don’t know. It just makes me feel alive.

Manuela: Yeah that sounds pretty cool. What do you mean by ā€˜alive’ though?

Felipe: Hmm, well the bridge started as an idea in my head, and now I’m standing on it. It’s like having ultimate control over everything.

Manuela: Oh I know that feeling! That’s how I feel when I think of saving someone’s life at the last minute in the emergency room. Boom… Doctor InĀcontrol.

Felipe: Haha. Is that what made you decide to become a Doctor? Because you like feeling inĀcontrol?

Manuela: Yeah, I guess it is.

Felipe: Wow. That’s the same reason I decided to be an architect. So does that mean you hate it when other people boss you around too?

Manuela: OMG that’s the worst!! I can’t stand it when other people tell me what to do.

Fun! Turns out they’re both control freaks. THAT’s their common interest. Now they can geek out on that instead of churning through countless emotionless topics that they don’t connect on.

Skill #3 - How to never run out of things to say

Imagine you have a conversational D-pad. It gives you something to say whenever you run out of things to say. These are the controls.

Say you’re in a conversation about cars, and you don’t know anything about cars. You run out of things to say. What are your options? Here's your conversational D-pad for cars

Some people prefer to zoom out. They think and talk about general things: ideas and concepts.

Some people prefer to zoom in. They think and talk about specific things: details and examples.

You’ve probably had conversations with people where you just don’t click with them. It could be because you prefer to zoom in and they prefer to zoom out, or vice versa.

Example

Elena: How was your day?

Pablo: Good. Productive. I got a lot done. How was yours?

Elena: Well! When I woke up I made toast, with butter and vegemite. I left it in the toaster a little too long and it got a bit burnt, but I scraped it off with a knife and it was fine. Then I cycled to work. I went down Oxford Street this time instead of my usual route down Henry Cotton Drive because I wanted a change.

My boss didn’t have anything for me to do today so I made an appointment to see the Doctor next Wednesday at 5pm and spent the rest of the day on Facebook chatting to Sofia about her baby, Ivan, who has a cold and Esteban about his new Porsche. Then I came home down Oxford Street again because it was so lovely in the morning. It wasn’t as nice in the evening. And now I’m talking to you.

Pablo: So was your day good or not?

Elena: I want to know what you did all day.

Pablo likes ideas and concepts (zoomed out). Elena likes details and examples (zoomed in).

Pablo is bored senseless by Elena’s details and Elena feels like Pablo doesn’t want to share things with her.

Pablo is interested in the big picture. He wants to understand the point of what Elena is telling him. What does it mean? Did she have a good day or a bad day?

Elena is interested in specifics. She wants to know what made Pablo’s day good or bad. What does he mean by ā€˜productive’? What did he get done?

If you find yourself in a conversation that just isn’t working you might be speaking to someone who has a different zoom preference. All you have to do to connect with them is zoom in or out to match their preference.

If they prefer to zoom in, give them details and examples. If they prefer to zoom out, give them the meaning behind your details and examples.

Hi guys,

Looking for some open source 'dashboard' server monitoring software. I have seen a few which look okay but they aren't that 'easily readable' when it comes to the layouts etc. Looking for something which is big and blocky that has a traffic light system. Edit 2: I am a high school student graduating this year. I've never liked drinking, and I worry that I will have no friend in college without drinking. Although I am not an alcoholic, many advice below still applies to me!

SRS is actually an internet cult and they meet most of the criteria needed for being a cult. The way in which they effectively serve as an internet cult is that it is possible for anyone to easily join the cult so long as they have an internet connection and a reddit account and are willing to do exactly what they are told by the SRS moderator hierarchy and the people who control and run the subreddit. The worst thing about Shitredditsays, however, isn't that they have their own shitty subreddit that makes zero sense to the outside world and to those who are sane and don't believe in the views of social justice warriors and radical feminists. The worst thing about SRS is that they and their friends from other like-minded subreddits on reddit - with the cooperation and unspoken support of a few reddit administrators - have managed to turn reddit into Digg 2.0 where a clique of users who are chummy and friendly with each other have managed to take over a very large portion of this website. The users who have turned reddit into Digg 2.0 and who threaten to ruin the site are what I and some others who understand the situation have come to know as and refer to as "metareddit cancer." I have taken it upon myself to go ahead and create the subreddit /r/metaredditcancer to act as a watchdog that chronicles everything that this cabal of reddit users are doing to turn reddit into Digg 2.0 and - in particular - to turn the site into a place run by social justice warrior and feminist moderators who tolerate no deviation from their beliefs in the numerous subreddits that they have come to control as moderators.

My hope is that after reading this comment of mine that you will subscribe to /r/metaredditcancer so that you can stay well-informed about a very serious situation that has arisen - largely unknown to most users - on this website so that we can all gain a greater understanding of what a powerful cabal of agenda-driven users are doing to and have done to this site that we all love. I am a long-time user on reddit who has intimate and in-depth knowledge of this cabal and who has modded multiple subreddits both large and small, who has been intimately involved in discussion with this cabal of users regarding their control of reddit, who knows what their agenda is and what they want to do with their power and control, who has sat in their private discussions in internet chat rooms, who has seen leaks from their private subreddits, and who has absolutely had enough of what they have done to reddit and of what they will continue to do to this site unless the rest of this site is exposed to who and what they are and what their endgame is. What happened to Digg and what has happened to 4chan very recently is undeniably and positively what is happening to reddit now and what has been happening here since 2012.

The cabal of users and moderators who I refer to as "metareddit cancer" hail from the subreddits Shitredditsays, circlebroke, Braveryjerk, circlejerk, TheBluePill, SubredditDrama, SRDbroke, and Drama. This cabal of users are - for the most part - the moderators of these subreddits and these users also control many other subreddits with thousands and even hundreds of thousands of subscribers. They mod subreddits like /r/news, /r/politics, /r/worldnews, /r/Subredditdrama, /r/creepyPMs, /r/offmychest, /r/TIFU, /r/explainlikeimfive, /r/changemyview, /r/LGBT, and numerous other subreddits where they have managed to worm their way into moderator positions over the years and then go on to have total control over the type of discussion that goes on in their subreddits. They make sure that any discussion that goes against their social justice and feminist beliefs is censored and controlled and/or they mod their subreddits like ban-happy dictators who get rid of anyone who breaks the circlejerk that goes on in their subreddits every week. This is absolutely the case with offmychest, creepyPMs, and Subredditdrama. Maybe the worst example of their way of worming into moderator positions and destroying subreddits is that of /r/LGBT and how 2 transsexual radfem SRS trolls - one of which has become infamous on reddit and other chan websites - managed to take control of the subreddit in 2012 and then acted like dictators and abused their power so badly that reddit's administrators had to be called into the drama. The admins refused to remove the two SRS moderators, the LGBT subreddit went into meltdown because of them, and this led to the subreddit being ruined and people having to flock to the newly created /r/ainbow subreddit because one of the biggest forums for discussing LGBT issues on the internet was taken over by members of Shitredditsays. This is the first notable time that SRS and other metareddit cancer have taken control of subreddits and they've gone on to manipulate reddit's subreddit request system to bring even more subreddits under their control. They organize subreddit request attempts in private subreddits where they plan out their agenda and they do the same in their internet relay chat rooms as well. I can say with total confidence that there is no other reddit clique and group operating on this website that looks to take over and control as many subreddits as they can in a clear and indisputable attempt to control the flow of conversation so that conversations in any given subreddit always lean and kowtow to radical feminism and a perverted form of social justice. NO OTHER GROUP EXISTS that is looking to take over as much of this site as possible.

One of the more troubling things that I have come to understand having been an intimately involved user of reddit for years, is that some of reddit's current and past administrators support and belong to this cabal of metareddit cancer. An administrator who was fired from reddit two years ago immediately was added as a mod of Shitredditsays as soon as he left his admin role and made clear what some users had already known: he was literally a member of Shitredditsays and as an admin he used his power to carry out SRS's agenda. He routinely ostracized and terminated the accounts of (shadowbanned) people who posted in subreddits that SRS want destroyed and now he sits as a moderator of SRS. This is one of the biggest yet unknown bits of corruption in reddit's history yet you wouldn't know it because the subreddit created as a watchdog for this sort of thing - /r/Subredditdrama - was taken over by SRS and reddit metacancer in 2013 and they censor discussion about themselves so that people aren't aware of what is going on. The takeover of SubredditDrama is one of the worst things that has ever happened on this website because of its 150K subscriber size and because the very people who are the problem that I am discussing happen to be in control of SubredditDrama. This is clearly a monumental conflict of interest given that anything nefarious that this group of users do cannot be openly discussed in SubredditDrama without their consent.

What caused this cabal to come to be and what is it that unites them in their desire to control the site through moderator power and through cliques?

  • A need for friendship that's lacking in real life. A # of users involved in this cabal are depressed, aren't "cool", are LGBT (more difficult to be included socially if you are a member of this group in real life), are social outcasts, or just want to have some internet friends because they spend a lot of time on this site. This last reason differs a bit from the other reasons and is different in that some users - a smaller number - belonging to this cabal get drawn into it without knowing what the agenda is and they simply just want some internet friends. However, they always cave to the agenda when it is brought up (perverted feminism and social justice and tightly-controlled, censorship-happy moderation in the cabal's subreddits) and so it doesn't matter that their intentions for joining the cabal were innocent. In the end, they always come around and you can already see how this is cult-like behavior. Anyone who doesn't toe-the-line and go along with the agenda is shunned or cast out. I've spent time talking to one of them who was cast out of one of the cabal's private subreddits after realizing that the nature of the cabal and "group of friends" wasn't innocent and that everything revolved around feminism, social justice, and the ego-driven desire to control as many subs as possible. The scary thing about my interaction with this cast-out former member is that the cabal looks to get your name and personal information. They do this through their everyday IRC chats and in Facebook groups where some choose to take friend requests with their real names. Others use new Facebook profiles with their reddit names. This cast-out user used his real account and he knows now that a reason why they send friend invites is so that you think twice about going against them because then they have your personal info and can come after you with threats at home, work, and anywhere else.

  • What the users in the cabal do to gain entrance is act smug and superior (social justice, feminism, morality policing) to redditors. The cabal acts as their cool kids club that they weren't good enough for in real life. THAT IS HOW AND WHY THEY ARE FRIENDS AND WHAT BINDS THEM TOGETHER BECAUSE ANYONE CAN ACT THIS WAY.

A cabal on Digg is what led to the deterioration of the site and is what led to the migration that saw users flood to reddit. I'll be damned if I watch the same type of behavior from a group of a few dozen users continue to move reddit towards becoming Digg 2.0. 4chan has been thrown into a serious mess like this after Moot gave mod positions to authoritarian mods in the last year who now control the site given his recent abdication as site admin. Let's not let this develop further on reddit because there's a point of no return.

TL;DR: The SRS cabal controls too much of and is ruining reddit

Drugs create highs by manipulating chemicals our bodies produce normally. Frequent drug use can change the way our bodies produce and utilize these chemicals, causing our bodies to produce too much or too little. There is no perfect drug because any substance usage takes our bodies out of chemical equilibrium, causing adverse effects.
