I effing love these!!!
I effing love these!!!
That's what we all saw in our heads back in the late 80s/early 90s. It's so good!
I hear the dungeon music just looking at these
Gah! Me too! ā¤ļø
And the coverart of game boxes, so not just in our heads :p
I LOVE that Link's shield is exactly as it appears on the game cartridge
The art in the instruction books too
These are exceptional
Very King Gizzard-y in terms of their album covers, like Polygondwanaland.
My thoughts as well
Link is the Reticent Raconteur
Yo I literally sent these to my friend and said the same thing before I even saw this comment. Good to see some KG fans out there!
These look like the cover art for 1980ās game guides
Right it's perfect
We need to revist the 80s Zelda games in the future with this artstyle! It really shows how bleak and scary the OG games truly were
How you gonna storm a dungeon without pants. Man the 80ās were wild
Awesome work mate! Getting strong Sierra Entertainment (Kings Quest 6, Quest for Glory) vibes too
Kickass!
I LOVE IT OMG
Imagine a Zelda game like this. Would be so cool.
[removed]
I will die happy only after playing this.
[removed]
I love Wind Waker but actually it's the complete opposite from this.
I don't see the developers dedicating a whole 3D game for a aesthetic this specific, but my hopes are on a new smaller 2D game. Like Hollow Knight-ish Zelda.
I wouldn't complain honestly if it was just for a Zelda 1 and 2 remake.

Nintendoās lawyers have entered the chat
Slightly off topic, but, have you seen what LEGO is doing with the upcoming fanmade bionicle game? They allowed the dev to continue as long as he doesnāt make any profit from it.
So maybe he could make a fanmade Zelda game if he gets permission and doesnāt make any money
That's the thing though, Nintendo will never give permission.
These are fantastic
Hi everyone ! There are lots of comments asking if it's really psychedelic. Tbh I don't really know the "style" as I'm not an art expert but I read an interview of the artist yesterday who said it was indeed a psychedelic vibe and inspiration. I'm really glad to see that a lot of people are enjoying this art so here's once again the artist's website https://www.luismelo.net/ :)
These are amazing. I would love a TV show/movie in this style. Even with a āsilentā Link like Samurai Jack.
Link is a dime
These need to be blotter art š
Damn right! Doesn't even need to be dosed, just for decorative purposes.
Yes! š¤£
These really look like how playing the original game felt way back when. Awesome stuff.
Why did he decide to make Link right handed
This bothered me as well. Although the art is undeniably beautiful.
Because Nintendo has had Link a righty for a while now.
I will never forgive them for it
Heās about to be back again
. . .elaborate please?
Heās going to be all right
Skyward Sword re-release
He's right handed in Skyward Sword.
I know thatās what Iām saying. Right-handed Link is about to be back again in the Skyward Sword re-release.
I think what he may be referring to, is that in Breath of The Wild 2, the upcoming Zelda game, Link has his right arm covered in malice. We don't know yet the effects that will cause, but maybe, just maybe, Link will be a lefty again. If this is not what he meant, my bad.
LA remake link was left handed so.. mini-victory I guess?
Fun fact in this incarnation he his ambidextrous. As far as I know it was due to just the pixel graphics being mirrors when he moved but I like to think itās canon! Left handed Oot / MM link is the best link and I will die on that hill. Why did they have to take the only left handed character to ever exist away.
Didn't Miyamoto confirm him to be left handed in an interview ?
Starting with OoT the handedness swapped by region. But they did it by mirroring the entire fucking game, including the dungeon maps.
I remember watching a mini documentary on this when twilight princess had to be ported.
He's left handed in OoT, started with Twilight since most people are right handed, but that's only the Wii version.
I understand making him left handed in the wii games, but why did they decide to make him left handed in botw ?
I want the last one on my wall so bad.
oh jeez ive been looking for this ever since i saw it for the first time, thanks!
Why is he right handed
Legend of Zelda art always overwhelms me with emotion for some reason. This is beyond great!
Sick wallpapers
These are amazing
A Legend of Zelda comic book run in this style would sell insanely
My childhood imagination come to digital reality. Wow. Incredibly well done.
Has the idea of remaking the original LoZ ever been considered? I know it's pretty played out to remake stuff and we'd all rather get new content, but they remade Link's Awakening and I feel like a remake of the OG game could be a good time.
The artwork looks like it was sourced from A Link to the Past. Second picture is definitely the desert dungeon from ALttP.
Dungeons 3,4,5,8, and 8 again?
?, 2, 4, 1, and 9.
Interesting... tho I'd hardly file these under "psychedelic"
btw here#s the artist's webside: https://www.luismelo.net
Tbh I rode an interview of Luis Melo yesterday (in a French book about Zelda) and he says himself that it has a "psychedelic vibes and inspirations"
People who have never taken psychedelics don't realise things don't have to be rainbow or look like a tool album to be psychedelic
Psychedelic art is already a pretty established style. Doesnāt have to reflect what people actually experience while using psychedelic drugs.
This art style shows more āoriginal 80s cover artā inspiration and ācollage/mixed media artā inspiration.
Ive taken tons of acid and yes it doesnt look always like a cartoon but a description of an image as āpsychedelicā isnt describing mild light tracings or whatever
Do you have the title of the book handy? Sounds interesting.
It's "GƩnƩration Zelda : 35 ans de lƩgendes" by Florent Gorges. It's very interesting, he talks mostly about the 3 first Zelda games and the impact of them in the French culture. He also talks with some collector and Luis Melo :) I don't know if it's translated in other languages as it is a non-official book
Thanks! That's sound very interesting. I can read French, so hopefully I can find this somewhere.
I think if you were to find someone who was somehow insulated from early NES games to look at some of the promotional art, the games themselves, guides, tie ins, etc as an adult in 2021 they'd be pretty surreal. Mario more so than Zelda, but both of them are pretty far out when you really think about them.
Now that would be a amazing game
@ picture 5
For God's sake Ganon go put on some pants!
Looks like heās taking a grumpy
Holy wow
Now this.
This is beautiful.
I love the artwork he does for Alice Madness Returns! I didn't know he worked on such a great game!
this is amazing. if i wanted to buy prints where would i go?
i love this style, itās so unique, like a collage art, amazing
That's exactly this ! He did "collages" using Photoshop layers :)
so good, thank you for sharing!!
also whatās the source?
A French book called "Generation Zelda : 35 ans de lƩgendes" by Florent Gorges
thanks! u/Pineapplehand , a french book of zelda just for you
I'm gonna look that up, I love these artworks
you can tell me what it says because i think itās in french hahaha
Would love to play a game with these graphics
This is amazing!
A Legend of Zelda comic book run in this style would sell insanely
I really want some posters or something of these.
Those thighs tho
That second one is bloody fantastic
These are amazing
These are amazing
This is perfect.
These are great
A 3d zelda like that would be amazing
The dungeon in that first picture kind of looks like that new enemy in the latest breath of the wild 2 trailer.
what makes these psychedelic?
Amazing.
These are goddamn incredible.
Is that Ganon imitating Shia LaBeouf? Love these. They look awesome.
new wallpaper
Link isn't wearing pants in the first one. xD Or maybe any of them. Idk. As someone who played only the recent games I am surprised.
Psychedelic though?
Goddamn these are fire
I'd be angry too if some asshole with a skirt wanted to poke me with a giant triangle while I was taking a shit. Great art by the way.
It somehow reminds me of Katsuya Terada's artwork for Zelda II. Pretty amazing!
Yo these are fucking awesome!!
this is so fucking cool
Great!
My flashbacks are having flashbacks. This is awesome!
I feel like this are straight out of my 6 year old imagination.
This is really good work
Jesus that's so stylistic it almost looks pixelated it's melting my brain
Wow
I love this. Thereās something about the first two Zelda games that makes them so unique.
I wouldn't say psychedelic, but man are they AWESOME! Love it!
Wow never knew something like this existed. Absolutely stunning
These are amazing
I hope people comment on my comment often so i keep getting notifications to come look at this again. Beautiful work, do you have portraits of these for sale?
That is awesome
nice
Okay that's amazing! š
This is so great
having just played thru the original LoZ for the first time, this is absolutely accurate šš½
Fantastic but I thought Link was Left handed? Isnāt that why they had to flip TP?
These are fantastic.
Look looks like he had a few drinkyās. Red face!
It kinda looks like the Zelda cartoon link and say it with me, "Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess"
Amazing!
Thanks for my new phone backgrounds! This art style is sick.
Anything more despising than a wallmaster?
Link... Papers please...
Dude if i had to fight a tektite (asumming that's what it is) that was that size, I'd run away and be the weird old guy in the woods that no one talks to because they think i'm crazy
I was thinking about purchasing, but this person royally fucked up. Link holds his sword in the left hand, not the right.
Yo it looks like Link interrupted Ganon on the crapper in that last one.
Wow these look amazing.
The first Zelda is still my favorite and this just... wow, absolutely amazing work! I especially love Link's look in the first image. Always hated the pretty boy aesthetic they established for him in Ocarina of Time, to me this is so much more endearing that he's just an average looking freckle faced boy.
It's looks awesome. It's one of the last in the saga timeline wise.
This is stupendous, can we buy prints or anything?
Holy shit these are great! The colours work so well!
This is beautiful
Ganon looking like Link walked in on him taking a dump.
I really should play the original
Woah that just got me to realize how terrifying a real wallmaster would be. We haven't seen them in a 3d Zelda game since wind waker have we? I'd love to see one that's larger than link.
Does each one only use four colors?
We all came back to our heads in the late 80s / 90s. That's great!
These are beyond epic! Might have to get a print of that second one.
Shit's scary!
Wow! Some of this artwork makes me want a 2D Zelda roguelike in the style of Hades.
Some of the coolest fan art Iāve seen!
Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess!
That hyperrealistic Wallmaster, though...
Where?
Those finger nails⦠Yikes!

Absolutely incredible!! Makes me nostalgic for the original game even though I wasnāt even born when it was released!
More pop than psychedelic, but interesting.
These are really good but i dont see them as āpsychadelicā
I love this! I love how the colors complement each other, and the art style is stunning, and thereās so much detail and things going on in each one- how long did this take? it looks incredible
Why psychedelic? This is exactly that!
Not really psychedelic but certainly is cool
The art is beautiful, but that looks like a really uncomfortable place to have a boomerang, looks like it'll get in the way alot.
The fact that Link isnāt holding his sword in his left hand is bugging way more than it should.
1st & 2nd are really good the rest are trash š¤®š¤¢
I need more of this!
You can check his website https://www.luismelo.net/ he also made some works inspired by Dark Souls or Street Fighter :)
Just went through his whole gallery, what talent. Thanks for sharing.
He sells prints here as well it looks like: https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/luis_melo/
Some of the Metroid ones are excellent.
