I tried to google to see what an original one looked like and quickly realized this is entirely fictitious. Fantastic rendering.
The light on the other angle OP posted is a bit fucky. It makes the table look plasticity, but honestly I could've waved that off as it being a cheap faux-wood table. This one though, I straight up can't tell even knowing it's a render. Even the way the light bounces off the dust on the screen looks so real.
Yeah the table looks like some fake-wood outdoor furniture I’ve seen, but that second pic also has a very realistic looking screen with smudges and small scratches.
Got that perfect shitty flash photo look down pat. Wow.
Why do I love this so much???
Nostalgia? Never existed but feels so familiar.
Yeah I got a good ache for this thing. Let's 3d print a shell and build a raspberry pi inside.
Omfg right?! It's like I can almost feel it
Just needs a serial or DIN port.
Don't worry, catskull electronics and trash80 are on the case
I'm trying to figure out what this device would do. Is it supposed to be a handheld game console? (Like a GameBoy)
Wow, I thought it was a photo. It looks so real!
The most unbelievable part is the "256 MB" on the cart. I MIGHT have believed KB.
D-Pad needs to be higher up on the left side grip.
For usability, yes, but directional buttons have been in some really dumb places as a result of being grossly underestimated for a long time.
There could also be any reason why it can't go higher up.
I imagine that the speaker cone couldn't be so close to the I/O port, so it gets pushed up. The d-pad can sit on a PCB that's basically flush with the inside face of the front shell, and as long as it's supported by a screw post, it can mesh nicely with the port hardware.
Huh, that's not a speaker is it? It's just a textured grip, the speaker's further up and small.
Anyway. I'm having fun imagining the internals here.
Makes sense. I considered the possibility that the d-pad was used in landscape mode but without a left hand grip up top I ruled that out.
Rad!
Looks similar to the Datacorder used in the game Roger Wilco: Space Quest 6 - The Spinal Frontier
Awesome :D
THEY MADE SIX OF THOSE GAMES?? I only remember one!!
Circular screens should have been a thing!
damn nice work
honestly looks pretty solid, and the only thing i'd add is letters to the numeric keypad.
Are these designed in CAD and then exported to a graphics program? Or can Blender do parametric objects like this?
Kinda sus
Why
Kids just say that now when they have nothing to say
For sure.
They also don't know how to use question marks and are baffled by everything.
"Ok I guess I understand??? What am I even looking at. What even just happened. I literally don't understand the word literally. I guess I'll be quiet until I understand words???"
Nah man, "sus" is just a meme when something in the pic looks like a character from among us
I can sort of see it.
The artist says,
Here's the device from a different angle which you might like better.
