Damn, that adjustment wheel is so awesome, it's really something that all Eureka models need. Awesome job mate!

Thank you :)

Yea, I hated it from the start, but these grinders are so good and affordable! But switching between pour overs and espressi was pure pain lol

Echoing others, I'd take a dial set if one was on offer!

Currently working on designing something very similar, can share an etsy link or cults link once ready.

I’ll take the entire set. Please take my money.

Well.. The entire set arrived today and it works great. Thanks for a great product and service. https://i.imgur.com/jd1NMhi.jpg

I really need something like this for my mazzer super jolly. Like a black 3d printed cilinder that goes between the back feet and the base

I’m not sure where you mean, I’m in the middle of a mazzer mini 3d print build. If the grinders are similar enough, I can try to make something for it!

Photo is only for reference for the model. I’ve designed a new porta filter holder, and I plan on changing the switch out and using an Arduino to add a timer.

https://preview.redd.it/9yiel50ow3qa1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e5482c59d23a51964e2b15f28624b1161accac4

so the grinder works a little better if it's angled slightly forward just like the eureka has a angled base in the video. My idea was create a 20-30mm bushing from ABS or PLA with a 10mm diameter and put it inbetween the rubber feet on the back of the machine

Got it. I’ll add that to my design ideas and if I get one set up, I’ll pm you and send you ine

Cool appreciate it! I measured it again and the diameter is 20mm, the hole in the center needs to be large enough for a m5 screw, so 5,2 mm should do the trick. The total length should be around 30mm

Edit: the diameter should be 22mm, that's the diameter of the chrome piece that goes over the rubber feet, I think that might look better this way.

The newer style feet come with a pre installed m5 standoff, but the older feet are just rubber feet that come with a seperate m5 screw so those are not the ones in the picture below. I have both but didn't have a better example for the moment

I loved that you pluralized espresso properly!

Same as everyone else is saying, if you decide to make and sell a small batch of these I'm in!

I had that grinder. Fantastic, but the adjustment knob is atrocious. Great job!

I want one of these for my specialita!!

We all need this dial.

What’s the problem with the dial, if you don’t mind my asking?

The eureka dials are much too small and a pain to deal with.

I see. Looks like the Oro XL dial is larger than the Specialta’s which explains why I don’t find it troublesome.

It’s about the same size as the Mythos One dial which I also thought was good.

Not only is it too small, but it takes multiple full rotations to go from espresso grind to drip coffee grind, with no real way to keep track of how many rotations you're currently at. This dial mod addresses that

I can see how that would be maddening for people who switch between espresso and drip grinds.

I bought a second, cheaper grinder for my drip grinds.

+1 to what everyone said.

It’s a highly specialized, very finely tune-able grinder, able to adjust very small settings.

But the g-damn dial is tiny with very small indicators. Plus, you can continuously loosen and tighten the dial - therefore the indicators on the dial is gestural. The minimum and maximum is unknown until you reach them by twisting it until it hits the end.

Wow, any chance you would share the files for the dial?

you should sell that as a Single dosing mignon Set on etsy. I guess you aren't based in Europe? Would definitley be interested in buying the dial etc.

Bruv that's honestly the dopest dial size modification I've seen for the eureka mignon models. Almost making me rethink my decision to sell mine. Blows my mind that eureka could not think of this.

Most brilliant part of this is the adjustment knob that says “CO—FI” coffee!

Funny...coffee = CoFi

it is how George Costanza says it.

Sell me a kit

Seconded, I absolutely want one!

Wow, cool print thing

Op doesn't post stls

Op doesn't want to make any to sell

Op doesn't want to put the stl on cube3d or something to sell

Well that sucks

Edit: looks like op made a cool site to sell the STLs and also sell the printed items, good on em

Yeah, definitely disappointing. I'm not sure what issues they've had in the past (likely people re-uploading the files and claiming credit), but that's all part of giving files away for free.

I think it's a fine price to pay to share a useful design with others.

This way, no one gets to enjoy this except for OP 😢

I'm conflicted on this. We're not entitled to be given anything by OP.

On the other hand, he's flaunting something that no one else can have - which means that the only point to this post and video was for OP to flex.

I suppose if this were a 3d printing sub, people wouild be motivated to come up with their own designs. But this is most definitely not a 3d printing sub.

If it was a 3D printing sub, they would understand the concessions of giving away your STLs, and would likely do so anyway. Ah well, as you said, we are not entitled to more than a selfish flex, it's just a shame since this is a great looking design.

In case you just want something coffee-related to print, and need a simple tamping stand that works with a 3D printed WDT tool (see what it was remixed from), here's a simple thing I designed the other day!

Nice plug! Now get to work replicating OP's design. ;p

Here's the link. https://www.printables.com/social/571375-ordnerino/models

What's stopping you recreating them?

A whole hell of a lot of trial and error and modeling. I'm down to buy the STL or printed product, but no way to

I might design something similar and objectively worse but I'd def drop the stl

I'll redesign it and list somewhere to sell.

I'd love the dial set. I saw your comment about giving the stls away for free and the issues you've had.

Have you thought of selling the stls through MyMiniFactory or Cults3D? That way you can license the files and have a system for take downs of unauthorized sales?

I wouldn't recommend selling on Cults3D, they have a history of screwing over their creators (not paying out, doxxing, etc)

Well then, I haven't used them much aside from free models. But that sounds awful.

Dawg… how can you show all that and then not even grind some beans for us… I’m so disappointed

I can't get past the gloves.

I just kept wondering “why?”

There are a lot of possible reasons. One that comes to mind is that maybe OP has something on their hands that they don't want people on Reddit to see, such as a tattoo that could easily identify them (absolutely nothing wrong with caring about one's privacy).

Another possibility is that it vaguely gives the video kind of a factory/clean room vibe.

Yet another possibility could be not wanting to contaminate the coffee or grinder with skin oil or something else that occurs naturally on the hands (to the extent that coffee can actually be contaminated that way, something I know nothing about).

I was pretty skeptical of his video when I started watching but once I saw your dial, have to admit that’s pretty bad ass

thats sweet. but honestly whats with the gloves?

He's just ready to smoke some meat

Covering up the nasty man hands for sex appeal.

Seriously lol what is with the gloves on all the shorts. It is becoming so common.

For fine mechanical work, it can help a lot with grip and to protect from greases, also if there's something sharp there's a small bit of protection. From a video perspective, who cares about seeing the naked hands? My nails are rough and I have cuts (and scars), that's kind of personal to share.

all cool insta cooks wear it. Especially the chunky bearded meat boys

im a chunky bearded meat boy and i just don't understand why

hm. Something might be wrong with you mindset the. Embrace the glove bro!

meat is hot.. I have a pair of insulated gloves I use for smoking meats

insulated gloves i get but i can assure you the black nitrile gloves everyone wears are not insulated

yeah mine are little cotton things that go under the nitrile gloves.. they still allow better dexterity than the big thick "BBQ" gloves. and I generally don't like my hands getting dirty.

Would love the STLs for the dials. Better yet, print me one!

I have already made very bad experiences to share the stl files... without consent other files were resold so I hesitate with something like that, sorry. if the interest is big enough i could make a small batch and ship them maybe? shoot me a message if you would be interested :)

Put the stl on Cults3d and sell it. I know it wouldn't stop people to sell the printed model. But is better then nothing.

BTW I'm not interessed in this, I don't have a grinder, but your design is really good.

Hey I've got the same grinder and would love a way to print my own version of this but I get if you don't want to just give away the files for free on the internet.

I mean, if you’re not planning to monetize this and already have a day job, just publish them to the community. Does it mattter if they’re “stolen” of you open source them?

Otherwise, do what the other folks suggested and sell a mignon kit on Etsy. That might be a good option.

It matters in the sense that, if the creator has it on their 3D portfolio or their social media as part of their works, having it out there being sold by an unrelated third party means that it calls in to question whether or not the creator even made it themselves.

That's just one of many reasons they may have, I personally would feel uncomfortable if my free file was out there being resold out of my control and someone was ripping people off. Especially if the file wasn't really prepared for commercial sale.

I hope they sell the physical parts on Etsy or something.

If you have an Etsy shop I would love to purchase some of those parts

THEY WERE RESOLD

As someone who also does 3D modelling, Holy hell fuck that. I cannot believe that happened to you, what a goddamn shame.

There was someone a few years ago who designed a bellows mechanism for the eureka mignon, which ended up getting resold by various amazon shops. I believe he took matters in his own hands and started a small company with the designs (probably patented them too).

Honestly, people sharing STLs for free are awesome, but those trying to make a quick buck of them by reselling either the design, or the 3d printed product, are just greedy fucks

Absolute pigs, off to the mines for them

It's always going to happen if the files are useful enough to have demand; there are no morals in internet capitalism.

It's the same reason people don't want to share "family recipes", even when they stand to make no money from them at any time.

While I understand the annoyance, and that people are under NO OBLIGATION to share with with others, going to the grave clutching a useful invention to your chest is still selfish.

I would be very interested in the Base and the Dial. Please take my money!

I would purchase the files of you.

I would also purchase the files

Would be so interested in this or the files.

If you are printing a batch and will ship to Europe, I would buy one.

If the specs for the dial, neck and spacing are the same for the Atom as the Mignon then I’d also be interested.

Edit: looking closer, your hopper neck is square, mine is round so never mind. Though if you felt like making a small business out of it…

I don’t get this. Either way you’re not making money off of it. You’re MORE upset if someone else makes money, even if it means you help all these other people out?

People, as a rule of thumb, don't like to get taken advantage of.

If he lost money, it’s getting taken advantage of. The logic is pretty silly just thinking about this two steps ahead. Nobody should sell anything on the chance that some Chinese company makes a knockoff?

Cut off your nose to spite your face is what comes to mind. Or worry about your own bowl. Only worry about your neighbor’s bowl when it’s empty.

mans saying words and none of them mean anything

It's intellectual property theft and it's unethical.

You wouldn't download a grinder, would you? /s

Yeah I’m not advocating that you steal his ideas. I’m saying it’s not a good reason for him to not give something away if he doesn’t care about making money off of it himself.

Hi! I'm interested

I'd love a dial set aswell!

I'm not into 3D printing... is there not a print-on-demand service? Like Redbubble for 3D printing. Some sort of marketplace that makes your work available to purchase, without requiring any logistics/labor from you. I understand your hesitance to open source something this slick.

Yes, there's services like makexyz.com that can hook you up with people around you. Haven't used them in a while but they were good when I used them, there's probably others.

I'd argue that something like cults 3d is your best choice, since you have already shared the idea here with visual not much is stopping someone with cad experience to replicate and sell your work anyway, might as well make some money off the design since you had the original idea

I absolutely hate the dial on mine too so I would absolutely buy a print from you directly if you don't want to sell the stl files

Another vote to buy the files from you on Etsy! You deserve to be rewarded for this awesome design!

Definitely interested in the files or atleast a drawing of the principal for the grind size gear, would love something like that for my grinder :)

Are people have luck with TPU bellows long term? Everyone I have printed has crack/torn after about a month of use.

Dig the Dial, that’s fantastic, love that you made a magnetic dosing cup, BUT not sure about a 3D printed dosing cup from a cleaning standpoint.

Are you using PETG or some else for the rigid components?

Yeah TPU doesn’t seem to last from my own experience. But perhaps adjusting layers and shape parameters can help. here’s a model I made in openSCAD

I’ve found that the Prepworks icing kit has the perfect sized silicone bulbs for Mazzer throats, and with a right adapter ring could fit other sizes too.

The other option would be to 3D print a mould and cast silicone I guess. I’m still surprised that even AliExpress sellers are still charging ~$30ish for silicone bellows.

I’ve thought about molding my own Silicone bellows, but based on other DIY silicone parts, I’m imagining the grounds would stick pretty bad, simple enough to test it out though.

I have a TPU bellow and it is lasting several months now. Mine is for a sage barista pro. The initial design was breaking too but the the author of the design increased the thickness of the bellow and now it seems flawless

Eureka grinders aren’t fancy? 🧐

I'd say they're more of a functioning piece of equipment :)

Lol who is downvoting? His post literally said “not have the fanciest grinder”

On a scale from 1 to 5 with 1 being cheap blade grinders, and 5 being Weber Key, is not his grinder pretty middle of the line?

This is r/espresso. A cheap blade grinder must be a 0 since you’re never going to be able to hit 9 bar with that junk. I’d say a 1 is a cheap hand grinder, Eureka is about middle of the road at 3.

5 has gotta be something like a Lagom P100 or a Kafatek Monolith Flat Max.

Yepp. All the more then

I guess the point is that many people would still put a mignon at a 3.5-4 on the scale considering all the diminishing returns yadda yadda yadda

If people are putting a mignon at 4, that puts almost every capable espresso grinder in 4-5, maybe leaves 3 for high end hand grinders and SGP-like grinders, and 1-2 is just a wasteland.

And even then, mignon is still far from “the fanciest.”

How much is that grinder again?

This sub is ridiculous sometimes.

Eureka Mignon Facile is the cheapest (electric) espresso grinder on the market at $400. I bought one cuz I was dipping my toes into espresso.

Baratza Encore ESP and Fellow Opus are both about $200 and are espresso grinders.

Eureka Mignon Chronos and Filtros are cheaper but not espresso. Still in the mignon line though

Eureka Mignons go maybe $200-$700 depending on which one, but as far as I know the higher end specialitas all have the LCD screen

This is genius!

Absolutely fantastic upgrade job. Too bad it didn’t work when you flipped that ON switch. Joke aside, those Minion grinders are among the best ones on the market. I don’t understand the fancy theory here.

I used to have a Eureka Mignon some years ago and I always found the grind adjustment annoying. What you did there is absolute genius. Pretty sure owners would pay you quite some cash for that mod.

Interested !!!! PM me I’ll buy

It is crazy how the Eureka folks themselves haven’t solved this problem yet.

Why gloves

I love it. Well done!

Nice gloves.

I have a filtro. I love these mods!

When he/she pulled out the adjustment wheel I lost my shit

Very nice work!

I love the labelling on the dial. How it’s equally intuitive, useful AND funny.

do you mind sharing the STL files? or the raw files so we could adapt them to a mignon specialita, if these don't fit.

What’s with the black gloves ??

Nitrile gloves aka incoming douchey post

I'd pay for a copy of that grind dial setup. I have same grinder and going back and forth between espresso and pour is super annoying.

This looks very nice! Where do I find this dial? I want to print one myself?

That is an absolutely fabulous design, bravo. I would LOVE to mod my specialita like this to be able to move from espresso to pour over more consistently.

That dial tho ! That's an outstanding job. Bummed that you won't share it and don't plan to sell it tho, would be perfect.

I'm more interested in the dosing cup and stand setup. Let me know if you plant to publish on cults3d, I would definitely buy that design.

Would it be worthwhile putting that pump action hopper lid on a Baratza Encore?

I've gone so far without knowing I need an accordion cap for my coffee grinder

Stl?

This is very cool. If Eureka's didn't have proprietary burrs this would have definitely been my grinder/path.

Honestly watching this video has me thinking how much being a machinist negates that con.

Dude. Pls sell it or sell the files to someone who will.

Why are you wearing gloves?

That adjustment wheel is awesome. The mignon definitely needs that.

Nice work! Treat yourself to a better screwdriver.

But I like that one :(

I liked those as well but once you get something nicer like the iFixit (I have the iFixit Mako set), you won’t want to go back. Totally worth the money.

It’s what’s inside that counts.

A little too smart for your own good...

Mind if I ask what your rationale is behind angling the entire unit? This strikes me as likely to cause issues mechanically.

Zero grind retention

By increasing the angle of the output chute, right? But haven’t you decreased the angle of the grinding mechanism, making it more likely for retention there?

I have almost no grounds left when I open it up to clean it.

I’d assume the bellow fixes that problem

I’m gonna do this but to a Cuisinart grinder.

Fuckinf genius my guy.

Also, What’s that pump do? Looks great!

It’s called a bellow, it blows out retention (the remainder of the coffee grinders left in the machine)

Fantastic ! Thanks for informing :)

Please make me all these attachments

Wtf is this "Spring" cover?

I think the English word is "bellow" and it's very common on grinder, my SD40 came with it stock and the eureka zéro has one too.

It help reduce rentention by blowing the coffee out the chute

Serious- Can you 3D print me an espresso dosing cup for my gen 1 Ode? For some reason fellow didn’t make the one for the Opus compatible with the Ode.

You can order replacement parts from Fellow

Amazing!! I’ve loved to buy them!!

Equal parts creativity and ingenuity. Well done!

I really loved watching this!! I love when multiple hobbies blend together.

You're solution is genius! Let me know when you start selling I want the dial for my Silenzio.

This is extremely impressive.

Brilliant!!

I was thinking of doing something like this. Great job! What sort of 3D printer are you using?

Brilliant

Amazing!

Yo could you drop the stl to the adjustment thingy

I would buy the dial and the stand

Amazing! Quite the mod! Nice work!

Now 3D print some burrs and you’re ready to go

I don't have a stand alone grinder, but I print all kinds of things for my BBE. WDT, grind funnel, the kind of stuff that people print and sell on Etsy for 30 bucks a pop but costs me Penneys to make.

the dial and the bellow are such brilliant ideas. well done!

You should share the models! Especially the grind settings gears and knob

Please please please let me buy either the stl files or physical prints.... Pleaseee

I would buy the dial system. I’m also intrigued by your switch setup on the front

Amazing

Name your price….

I want this! Where can I find the files for it?

I would happily pay for the dial set.

https://preview.redd.it/mo8al5dsazpa1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78c05d10a3b0cf31a0040e67d44e69bb36c18440

3d Printers are a great tool for us coffee nerds

Not just coffee nerds

Haha that's a great job. I have a printer at work. You have me lots of ideas

I too am interested in this if you decide to start selling. (Tried to dm and there was an error...)

Neat! Wonder is the cup 3d printed too? How you made it self-centered like that, a magnet inside?

Looks like it is. I hope it's food grade plastic!

Great job, especially on the dial.

Phenomenal! You’ve turned a nightmare dial into the easiest and most precise ever in a really clever and simple way. I can see the guys at Eureka taking notes for future grinders.

Naah, they're good! (so they believe)

Amazing

Now this is pod racing

Please let me know if you chose to sell the stls

Silenzio owner here, when and where can I put my order in?

That’s some 70’s doctor who looking shit right there. I love it! Fantastic job!

You can get relatively cheap bellows for the Eureka grinders on AliExpress (from around 30€ shipped). I‘ve printed an adapter for one of those to my Ascaso I-Steel I-1.

The internet is a cool place

I’ve got the filtro with a couple 3D printed parts, but these are next level. If you ever make these files available, I would really love to deck mine out the same way.

OP OP OP pls sell. Recently got my hands on a Eureka Specialita for a great price and recognizing its short comings. You should really sell this set it's amazing!

Seen those gloves on some videos previously. They weren't about coffee, but I think there were grinders involved.

You did this whole thing without showing It working? Come on.

Wow how can I get a base like this for my Rocky clumpmaster 3000

Bro what? That’s fkn awesome

I'd be keen to buy this set for my specialita!

Wait can you sell me these printed pieces? This is awesome

That grinder expensive af, wth you mean bro 😭

I require the dial mechanism. Where can I send you my money?

Brilliant!

How about the bellows? Did you 3D print that? What material?

Yoooo I want this mod!

Sell the STLs?

That way you don't gotta make ax bunch on your own?

I’m speechless

U could sell the these …

Very nice, was it easy to install the "constant" switch (so you dont have to hold the grind button down) - id love to do that to mine :)

How much for a kit?

beautiful

Looks great plz grind some coffee

Fantastic! Love all your creations here

I am gonna “Take my money now!”

Duuuude this is so cool. Is everything 3d printed? Even the "thing below the cap"?

@TheOrdner wait, so you're not going to share the files, or sell the files, or sell a finished product? Why even bother with this video and post then?

wow, this is just incredibly awesome, with the black gloves on, it looks like a mission-impossible clip.

Don’t matter it’s a Eureka! Best

Wtf. Great!!!

Ok 1. What grinder, 2. Are you selling that combo of pieces you made in some sort of conversion pack? And 3. Can I buy one?😂 awesome build man!

They should hire him to make that grinder better from the get go

What’s with the gloves?

I need one

I have that same grinder. Super impressive.

OMG, this is amazing! I am in awe! Do you know how many of those dial/adjustment wheel combos you could sell on Etsy?! I don't even own a Eureka grinder, but having this kind of adjustment option might make me buy one!

That is beautiful! Now I have a reason to by a 3D printer. I have an older Nuovo Simonelli grinder that's very similar, the adjustment knob is on the left side. How did you do the bellows and the clear hopper?

Sweet!

Please please please sell the files or the printed parts! This is absolutely awesome 👍👍👍

Nice

Where did you get the magnetic dosing cup?

Nice. Did you design the dose adjustment yourself?

I want this!

Fuck yes! Amazing work. That dial is so damn annoying.

Definitely definitely definitely would purchase the grind settings mod for mine.

Does this dial mod stop at the min and max of the big dial?

It seems that a 360 turn on the original dial is 20 units on the new gauge. It has a max of 60, so 3 full rotations are available.

how much for the whole thing Bruh?

The pump keeps pressure, so the beans dont jump around, yeah?

Please take my money

Damnnnnnn that's gorgeous. Did you design the parts yourself? Fantastic work.

How do you add that on/off switch?

Can anyone remodel it?

🤯

@theordner, does someone can link the files for the printer?

https://www.printables.com/@ordnerino/models

Awesome! Many thanks!!!

that dial doesnt make sense. too much turn for espresso. but this works .

https://preview.redd.it/3srt81x0zdua1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=916df185b86770d3cd14973799be4c511c0c10c5

What is the function of that 'accordeon' flex cover? Pump up pressure? Blow some air over those beans? Someone please educate me

Listen fancy don’t get you great grind. Eureka is top dog. I had my specialita for over two years I’ve had many grinders siting next to it. Sold them all.

gif

Nice work man

Love the dial, wish I could do the same for my grinder

…or the fancy screw drivers. Where you

get that?

Did you print anything that touches the beans? If so, is it food safe plastic?
