This is so cool. Really clean work. Well done.

This has me thinking about a compact HMD setup with a decapitated laptop. You really can work anywhere these days—why not push the envelope?

This is what I wish an entire pc setup could look like using a vr headset to navigate. Just tiny but overly powerful and manipulating everything in the virtual UI.

Well, if you got a laptop with a 2060 or better, took the mobo out and fit it into a custom 3D printed shell, wouldn't that fit the bill? It'd be an expensive mod but damn that would be cool. Hardware would also really depend on application, ie VR vs AR. Maybe in a few years when that kind of hardware is cheaper.

If I had money of any sort I'd love to build all sorts of things. It's that damn money requirement holding me back lol.

i bet u can find someone who doesn't wanna put in the work to make these beautiful machines, but is willing to give u all the stuff u need to make your machines

If you could get the HTC vive flow working as a pc screen you would be the cyberest punk.

That's really sweet

You're sweet

Can't help it, awesome work makes me sweet

Keep killing it pal

The basics of it are that it's a Raspberry Pi 4 using a PiJuice module for power management. The screen is a 480x1920 8.8inch panel and a Vortex Core 40% keyboard. I'm planning to do a build guide/write-up when I get a chance this week and make the case designs available to anyone who wants to print them :)

Here i got my answer. Very interested in the writeup

Is the frame printed or made from something preexisting?

3D printed and designed from scratch for this project :)

I would absolutely love one of these, and just got a 3D printer YESTERDAY. It’d be amazing if you shared the design and parts list!!!

Bam! https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

\o/ was waiting on the write up! Awesome job all around!!!

Where did you get the it asset sticker?

I found it on Etsy - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1300429718/cyberpunk-arasaka-holographic-sticker

Does the QR code go anywhere?

It takes you to the arasaka wiki.

Nice! I was hoping.

Would love to see a guide

Build log is up at: https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Appreciate it! I've been wanting a cyberdeck more like the type you see in Shadowrun, and this comes very close!

Cyberdecks are super cool but what do you do with them? I personally like them for their aesthetic, I'm certain people who program a lot find use for them

Shadoweun was definitely a big influence: D

I would so much love to see the guide and get the files. Now that I've seen it, I can only be complete again if I have it!

Check out the build log, links to files are at the bottom https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Thanks a lot! I'm going to check what kind of stuff I have lying around and how I can make it work. What software did you use to design the case? Any chance to get the project files to make adjustments easier?

I use Fusion360. I'm happy to clean up and send over the files if you can work with that format :)

I'm only used to blender but I always love an opportunity to learn something new. And if it doesn't work out there will be some way to import the files to blender. Thank you a lot for sharing your work!!

I can export the files in variously formats, is there any formats you particularly prefer?

I think OBJ would have the best geometry but I'm also happy with the .f3d files!

Yo my man can you message me the prints when you’re ready?

Just uploaded them. The links are in my build log :) https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

I want to build thiss

Checkout the build log, with links to my STL files :) https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

it's supposed to have a bunch of weird IO to hack ATMs and robots and stuff...

I love seeing these cyberdecks, and I love the super-rugged look of this one. That rubber handle and the metal rack bar over it really give it the feel of a low-life/high-tech device.

Thats rad! Just needed to know the guts of the thing, going to sketch up a design for Cy_Borg!

It's a Raspberry Pi 4 inside. I've just posted a build log if you want to check it out :) https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Well done, would love to see your guide!

Thanks! Here's the build log :)

Awesome, thanks! You rock :)

This is really really cool. I’ve been looking for an self-contained enclosure project from my Raspberry Pi4 for sometime now. Can you update when you’ve posted the files? Either way thank you for sharing your awesome build, really professional looking, and a cool factor off the charts.

Thanks! :D

I like this. I have long been considering building myself a cyberpunk typewriter for work purposes. I was thinking maybe chrome based, but Raspberry pie is interesting too. Any tips?

Right now Raspberry Pis are kinda hard to get hold of, but there's other similar boards out there that do the same thing with similar form factors, so those are worth looking into. The power situation can be a bit of a pain, so I'd advise checking out cyberdeck.cafe as they have some good notes on power management modules and batteries that will help. And remember that the battery is worth spending a bit extra on; no matter what you build, its the part that's most likely to explode if it's cheaply made XD

Got it. Thanks! I guess there they probably have those kind of designs too.

Please do share the write up.

Just uploaded it :) https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

This is why I came here , you're doing the lawds work good sir

estrogen in the fucking NOODLES?

I'm a busy woman! I dont have time to manually install hormones AND eat lunch separately :P

It's super easy though

apt update && apt upgrade

apt install estrogen

[removed]

Lots of guys take testosterone supplements. Chances are your body will naturally produce all the hormones you need, but not always. And since being low on hormones is no fun you can top yourself up. If you feel you've got low testosterone you can ask your doctor to check with a bloody test.

[removed]

More or less, yeah. I'm trans, so I need to take hormones as my body doesn't naturally produce much of either estrogen or testosterone these days.

Increased testosterone will give you a bit more energy, higher sex drive, more body hair etc etc etc. If you don't produce either of those hormones its not the end of the world but you'll feel tired, emotional, you'll get a bunch of body changes. Etc etc. Its sucks.

Probably the best intake method

there is malware in you estrogen

For the discerning trans programmer

Rust is definitely involved.

what does this do

I wasnted it to be a kind of mobile workbench for my infosec tools for when I'm doing cyber-security work, which is also why I wanted to be able to attach things like the Flipper Zero and the DStrike module on there so I can control them all from a single platform. It also operates as a keyboard and mouse you can just plug into another machine, which is something I've wanted from a laptop for ages, when im working with physical servers or similar :) And it looks cool XD

wow you are a real life netrunner!

Hehehehe, my business card did used to say "Freelance Hacker" but I never felt like I could live up to the "coolness" aspect of the title XD

my man completed the game of IRL

That's badass lol

What would pentesting some IoT devices cost me? (DM I'm just getting a quote)

I wasn't joking I need that quote

Lol, generally I charge £700+tax per-day, but have been known to work for trade and barter too

This man singlehandedly brought the sci-fi movie hackers into real life

Imposter Syndrom is real...do you have your OSCP yet? Definitely feels good to get a few of the Offensive Security certs knocked out.

I think you might be one of the coolest people alive. Just sayin’

Awwwww, that's, like, the nicest compliment I've had in a long time ^__^

it's true tho. I build shit. I'd never build a usable cyberdeck.

Is that a touchpad beneath the HDMI port? And if so, are right and left click trigger-based?

Edit: also, personal opinion, but I think the bars on either side are gorgeous, but should be taller than any other part on its face. That way it could be set upside down entirely on them, without the screen housing being at risk in case of a drop. Or just lower the screen housing beneath them, if that’s an option. Ooh, or make it lower-able!

It is! I'm using multi touch for right clicking (tap for left click, two finger tap for right click). The PCB did have physical buttons on it but I couldn't fit them in in a way I was happy with.

I would experiment with triggers. And I wouldn’t be afraid to rip off existing ergonomic designs for the backside of that grip. Like this or even a ball mouse. Or I’d rip apart a steam controller. It’s got a great thumb trackpad, and it’s tick feedback makes it remarkably useful as a mouse. And no moving parts.

This thing is sick, though.

The ergonomic designs have some interesting potential for future projects, definitely :D At first I was thinking of using something like a modified Ploopy Nano trackball, but decided I wanted as few moving parts in the build as possible. And I had an old USB trackpad layingnaround already too XD

Perfectly fair! Oh, and the rail that the strap attachments latch to is begging for an optional wrist pad, imo. And I get not wanting moving parts, but the entire thing needs a retractable USB cable.

I considered retractable cables in some of my earlier designs but couldnt find a way to integrate them in a robust way. And then I kinda liked the idea of just tying cables to the top bars or to the sling points; it felt very much in keeping with the more messy cyberpunk vibe I had in my head :)

Incorporated into the strap somehow, perhaps?

Something like that, yeah. I've actually been thinking about making a carry strap out of braided network cables for another project ive got in mind.

Definitely! :D

The top bars are a little taller than the screen, not by as much as I originally planned but enough to be able to stack things on top of the deck without touching screen housing :)

My guy, what career sis you study?

Study? Philosophy and Ancient languages, but I work mostly as a freelance DevOps and SysOps engineer these days :)

ok but, you learned DevOps and SysOps engineering on your free time?

Edit: for the record, im in my early 20s and im about to start software engineering in Argentina

More or less, yep. I had been messing about with computers since I was a little kid so I had picked up a lot of stuff "in the wild" and learned more while working

that is absolutely fucking amazing.

getting your way, self taught, into such a cool job is a dream.

Most of us who are established in the infosec field today are self-taught. There were no cyber security universities or degrees back when I started messing around with questionable activities on the computer and internet.

True. These days there's various certificates and such, but back in the day it was all just self-taught or what you could learn from others.

You must love Snow Crash.

Did you ever spend time delivering pizza?

Lol, its in my top 5 books XD

As a guy who studied a completely unrelated discipline in university but now works in network operations, I feel this.

[deleted]

I was going to use Kali initially but ran into some problems with display drivers. So I went with standard Debian and just loaded in the Kali modules as needed. There's a USB wifi adapter in the case which can handle the wifi pentesting. I'd like to swap it out for a proper SDR at some point but that wasnt in the budget, sadly.

[deleted]

Sort of. I tend to end up using a heavily modified tool set. So for simplicity, I just installed Debian and loaded in various Kali modules as a starting point and went from there. But it can absolutely just run Kali Linux if you wanted to.

What are the specs of this rig?

How does the keyboard and mouse thing work exactly? Do you just disconnect them from the pie or do you forward it through software?

It's litrally just a USB switch. There a button on the side that with switch the usb signal from the keyboard and mouse from the Pi to whatever you plugged into the USB port :)

Yeah that makes sense, I use a similar setup for my PC and Laptop.

Yep, simple, tactile, and effective :) The switches are usually made fairly cheaply, so it's easy to strip them down to the PCB and integrate them into a build.

Oh so this isn't just a color screen with text, this is an actual, functioning portable computer?? That's fuckin nova!

Put some scratches on it.

Those will come in time

It’s been years since I heard of someone actually plugging into a physical server. Specially someone claiming to be doing sec work.

It's not something I have to do very often (honestly it comes up most frequently with my home systems), but it's needed from time to time. I don't do purely security work these days, thankfully, and my work tends to be pretty varied due to being a freelancer :)

Splices the fuck out of the Gibson 9000 using quantum neural hypermesh algorithms.

I'm suddenly realizing that the cyberdeck is something that isn't "implanted" by a ripper dock rather it's a handheld device so why the hell can you only purchase these at a Ripperdoc in 2077? If I'm not mistaken there is a shop that does cyberdeck repair, why not sell them?

IIRC, there's an implant in RED that lets you have your Cyberdeck implanted into your arm or something. Could just be that became the standard by the time the 70s rolled around.

Gotcha! That would make sense, but it doesn't seem to be elaborated on in the video game that I'm aware of, but who knows. Could be something entirely overlooked for the sake of speedy development

Maybe it's not talked about much, but there's a few times where external cyberdecks are used, namely in all the flashbacks and bartmoss' cyberdeck. People know what they are, but it's just not used anymore. Like using a landline today. It's just not practical anymore

The difference between a old brick style phone and current smartphones, while dramatically in different we still call them phones.

Because it's now a Johnny Mnemonic implant in your skull that is wireless and wired.

You use the USB link in your hand when direct secure interface is needed, and wifi like how your phone handles all the background traffic.

When you don't have an implanted deck, the socket is just a phone with rebroadcast tech to transfer soft. So, while everyone has phone implants, a net runner has an extra piece of hardware that connects to the phone and translation chip everyone else gas.

At least that's how I think the tech increase from 2020 to 2077 has gone.

If you look at Nix’s outfit in Afterlife, he’s got a newer-gen cyberdeck strapped to his arm. In the mission where you bring him Bartmoss’s old deck, you can see how they’ve slimmed down and gotten smaller, but my interpretation is that they’re still separate.

I think older cyberdecks are handheld but newer ones are slotted into a shard spot.

Well if they are just "slotted" then its back to why you get them at a ripperdoc only? Still I'm just over thinking this and it doesn't really matter in the first place. More of an oddity

Maybe it has to connect in a more intricate way to the brain / spine?

I mean considering it takes the slot of Beserk or the sandy, it definitely is more intricate than just popping it in like a chip. It seems like its the thing that runs the entire system

No in 2077 it is an implant. They've been upgraded to a little chip you put in your brain by that point. in 2020 it was an external thing

In 2077 when they do flashbacks they do show cyberdecks that Alt and Spider Murphy use, but 50 years later they streamlined that to a your brain being the part of the process.

These old decks are nowhere near as powerful as the implanted ones, which is what drives implant adoption.

u/Garrwolfdog any specs / build sheet?

eventually, would love to make my own cyberdeck and this looks great! well done!

This is pretty cool. Where did you get the goggles? What is the parts/build list? I've been collecting parts for one of these, just haven't found the inspiration to start.

The goggles are a 3D printed visor for the nReal Air headmounted display glasses. The main board is a Raspberry Pi 4, and I used a PiJuice module hooked up to a bigger battery and an external switch fornthe power. I also fitted in a KM switch so you can hook it up to the USB port on another machine toggle the Keyboard and mouse between the two :)

That's fantastic. Love the aesthetic.

Do you have any plans to sell?

Its absolutely gorgeous!

No plans to sell them but I've posted and build log and the STL files for the case if anyone wants to use them in their own builds Check out https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Do you have an STL for the visor? It looks awesome!

I do! That one is a remix of someone else's base design though, so I'll have to see if I can make that publicly available.

As long as you say its a remix and tag the original. Most people are cool about you posting your remixes.

Estronoodl ?

I'm a busy woman, I dont have time to manually install hormones AND eat every day :P

The sad part it’s that it looks yummy but I can’t eat one

Working as a network admin i totally have to make something like this. I would put Putty on mine

You sir are a true netrunner

Hehehe, thanks! And also, Do it! Its a lot of fun as a project and you get to build in whatever features you wish it to have :D

Was this made with a raspberry pi kit

Not really a kit but yes, the main board is a Raspberry Pi 4 :)

What's it actually do?

I wasnted it to be a kind of mobile workbench for my infosec tools for when I'm doing cyber-security work, which is also why I wanted to be able to attach things like the Flipper Zero and the DStrike module on there so I can control them all from a single platform. It also operates as a keyboard and mouse you can just plug into another machine, which is something I've wanted from a laptop for ages, when im working with physical servers or similar :)

How did you get into cyber-sec, infosec and dev/sys ops if you dont mind me asking. Was a lot of it self-taught considering your initial study was completely different?

Looks like it’s for using furrymuck

How much of it is 3d printed?

I really want to build one of these myself. this form factor is almost exactly what i didnt realize i wanted in a cyberdeck. i might include an SDR for fun if i build one.

The case is pretty much all 3D printed, except for the rubber grip on the main handle and the metal D-bars on top. I'm planning to make the STL files for the case availble, later this week, and I'd love to see people mod and adapt them in their own builds :) I made the case in modular sections so it can be pieced together in the slicing software in wherever configuration you like. Then there's just a rectangular top panel that you can whatever holes to you need.

Would you mind DMing me when you do share those files? Absolutely need one of these for my cosplay!

Ive just uploaded the files and build notes :)

https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Looking forward to the STLs and maybe some build notes this deck is the epitome of Cyberpunk.

Build notes and links to STL files are now up :) https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

awesome! looking forward to it.

All this beautiful work and you use it to open Furry MUCK. :(

It's a classic! And without FurryMUCK, back in the day, I'm not sure I'd have picked up the tech skills to build this deck today :)

I'm kind of overly thrilled to find a fellow MU* player out in the wild.

Oh my god. This is the coolest fucking thing I’ve seen in AGES. I’m assuming you’re involved with penetration testing, and this is one awesome way to do it.

Yep! Pen-testing and cyber security used to be my main career focus buuuuut I've moved away from it a bit in recent years. Security is still an aspect of my work but its nice not to have to view the world like 'that' all the time :)

What were your previous roles and responsibilities and why did you stop?

A bunch of standard pentesting roles and some security architecting. It was all very exciting at first but after some years it get kinda depressing, constantly thinking of ways to undermine things and find fault with things, and just seeing how insecure so many critical systems are in the world.

Gotcha, did you end up doing a lot of scanning for services/open ports and such, and running metasploit payloads as an external contractor? Or was it a lot of Nessus and the like and giving a rundown of the reports to laypersons and a general low level "y'all should probably fix these glaring low hanging fruits"? Any experience with incident response/triage and such? I ask because I have had thoughts of a side business as a security vendor doing specifically that. The idea of charging for a bid for on-prem incident response for a SMB or larger company, doing the gig and getting paid sounds appealing.

It was a mixed bag, often clients just wanted a quick scan and report to check a box on some insurance papers or something. But I got to do pleanty of more in-depth pentesting. Usually when a client was rolling out a new project or similar.

Ive done more incident response type stuff in my work as a devOps engineer though,

Interesting! Haha not the first time I've heard of that situation for checking a box on insurance, I can see how that can make someone jaded, and rather depressing. The real money is custom made exploits, sold on the black market- gotta wear a hoodie, shades, and fingerless gloves however.

You made this?

I did! :)

So, you work for Arasaka? Corpo scum!

Hey, I'm a freelancer! Its not my fault corpo asset tracking isn't what it should be ;)

This is awesome!

Also Estro Noodl lol

Hrt noodles let's go!

For the busy woman who doesn't have time to manually install hormones AND eat lunch XD

I only use official Ono Sendai decks.

Incredible build! I love the style. Did you 3d print your base casing perchance or was it modified from something else? If you don't mind me asking.

Thanks! :D The case was 3D printed, as was the HMD vizor, the rail mounted arms, and the mounts for everything else you see attached, except the sling points :)

Sick.

Do I spot an obvious Plant logo?

How do you cycle through the two screens?

That would be the Arasaka logo, very similar though! The addon screen is a Galaxy Fold3, so you can just plug in a USB cable and press the button on the side of the deck to switch to Keyboard&Mouse mode and you're directly controlling that device :)

Very nice! One of my fave projects ever posted on Reddit

I think I've likely seen every "cyberdeck" project on the internet, and I'm comfortable saying this is singularly most impressive one that still looks cyberdeck-y. This is dope.

The fucking china box holder is truly the cherry on top. Epic

Hehehe, thanks!

Amazing! This is pretty much exactly what I imagined a deck from Neuromancer looks like.

I wanna be like you when I grow up

This is the sickest deck I've ever seen. Major shadowrun vibes.

Amaze! Did you make the Arasaka sticker, or find somewhere?

I found it on Etsy :) Links in the build log https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Oh nice! Thank you and once again this is so cool!

Love it. Shadowrun has some amazing looking cyberdecks as well.

Gangster! Well done.

Amazing ride you got there! Well done!

Looks like a hacked apart SMISEACOW K2. Very cool. Come to think of it, someone should market a 3D printed carry case for the Smiseacow K2 that replicates this chunky cyberdeck "on-the-go" asthetic.

I had to do a quick google, and I totally see what you mean XD

Dude. That’s stupid badass lol. Nice.

looks amazing, great job

That's fucking sweet.

Do you have a post or video about how it’s made, been thinking about trying this for awhile just never knew where to start

I do! Check out https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Thanks a billion!!!

coolest post I've seen on this sub to date. wicked rad, my dude.

This is the dopest shit, especially cool it has functional use

What's your rate for one

I'm not really taking orders for them. But ive made the build notes and STL files available :)

https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

I was just playing around, but thx lol

Super nice. I really ought to get around to a similar project some day.

[deleted]

Just uploaded the build notes :) https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Very cool my guy

What system monitor is being used on the left?

That is bTop :)

yo this is dope as hell. The QD sling mounts on the bottom rail and the textured grip are really nice touches, I love the tamper sticker as well. Yo I could go on, this is some really top tier work. Gotta get me some of those noodles too

This man a true cybuh_psychohh. What an elegant creation.

Nice...now I want one

  • "Just Johnny" would approve

The handle on the right look like it was part of a k-bar?

Or is that handle from a bike?

Its the grip from a bike, though a k-bar would be nice robust option; I might try that in a future project

Build guide pls

Ping! https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

That looks really cool I want one

You got any more of them estrogen noodles ? 👀

I got the box? XD

this is very nice

Needs a SCSI port for the brain lead.

I was soooo tempted to see if I could make an HDMI to SCSI adapter for this XD

I have a crippling porn addiction and this is the sexiest thing I've seen all day.

Noice 👍

Love it! Why would you need backlit kb, if you jack it? 🙂

Style! Looking cool IS a function ;)

Are there plans available?

The build log and STL files are up at https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Much appreciated! You sir, are awesome!

Any chance that you made a video or blog post on how you made it? I really want to know.

I just post a build log for it :) https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Yooo thats cool. Thanks buddy and congrats

this is by far the most applicable thing I've seen apply to this sub; very sexy I love it 🖤

Can it run Doom?

Doom AND Doom 2!

Not sure what I love more about the design, the Picatinny-Rail or the "whack-a-security-guard"-Handle.
Not sure how I feel about the cup(noodle) holder in perfect "drop on keyboard"-position though

Lol! The case alone is almost 2kg of solid plastic, you could reeeeally etc a good whack in with it if you needed to take a more low-tech approach XD

The technical term is "Rubber-Hose-Decryption" or "Advanced information gathering", I believe.

Or percussive-wetware-Interface XD

I love this so much

How do I start on something like this? This is amazing.

Cyberdeck Cafe has a good general guide ( https://cyberdeck.cafe/build ). But mostly it comes down to how involved you want to get with the build. My build is mostly just done a with off-the-shelf parts and cables; no custom PCBs, and minimal soldering.

This just makes me want a walkthrough/tutorial really badly, I'd love to give something like this a shot

I just posted this build log https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a But feel free to DM me with any questions too :)

You're a diamond, thanks mate

Is Kali running on this system at all? Or per your other responses, it is ONLY a keyboard and mouse, no raspberry pi or anything?

Its got a Raspberry Pi 4 running Debian with a bunch of Kali modules installed, as well as my own customised tools. It can run Kali linux but I didn't feel like fighting with the display drivers when Im just going to customise the hell outn of it anyway :)

The only thing missing are the programming socks. Spectacular build!

Thanks! In this weather it's the big fluffy socks, the programming socs will have to wait until the weather warms up again XD

Damn that's lovely

Great work

You got the schematics for that baby?

Best I can do is a build log and STL files https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

Rad af

SO cool, congratulations

ESTRO NOODL

The best/cheapest HRT in The Sprawl!

This is SO AWESOME! I love it! You should be really proud.

How much does it weigh?

Also I think adding a cover you can flip on for the screen and keyboard might be good if you're carrying it on your shoulder, would stop the screen from getting damaged to random keys from getting pressed if you hit something.

It weighs around 2kg, without all the accessories attached. Yeah, a cover would be good, something that clips to the D-bars or attaches to the back rail would be easy to put together :)

ESTROGEN RAMAN!!! PLEASE !!!!!!!!

Best I can do is the papercraft box XD

Reminds me of the Nokia N90.

Woah you are awesome

Wow, a Vortex Core! It looks so nice here!

Hehehe, it's possibly overkill, but I wanted to get it back in service :)

Can it run DOOM?

Doom AND Doom2!

This is real preem, choom.

I....had never really thought about actually trying to build one. Now you've got me thinking about how to do it for myself...

I have a terminal cart in my datacenter but this would be killer for my switch closets.

Check out cyberdeck.cafe they have a good "getting started" guide. And I just posted a build log and all the stl files for the case if you want to check that out too https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

I was looking for a cool case for my retropie RPI4 but know im considering a retropie cyberdeck

Do it! :D The Pi in there was actually a retroPi before this build XD

I wanna put my fingers on your deck

Buy a girl a drink first, darling ;)

😆 very nice work, it looks like a movie prop straight out of Blade Runner

I love cyberdecks even though I have no use for them, but they look really cool. I would love to be into programming more just to be able to justify owning one lol.

Looks incredible :)

I want this so bad (the estrogen noodles)

The deck is pretty cool too

Hehehe, I just uploaded the papercraft pattern for the noodle box if you want to make one yourself. Link is at the bottom of the build.log https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a :)

So dope!

This looks great.

What's up with this sub and its constant posts that make fall in love with objects that are totally unnecessary for me?

Doooooooope

That is SICK!!!

This looks so good

This is great.

Is there a name for this type of thing? I want to see more of it.

Just search for Cyberdeck and you'll find what you're looking for :)

Whats the form factor, and what is the chassis? Also do you have an item list?

The chassis is all custom 3D printed for this project. I designed it around things using the Raspberry Pi's form factor but you can probably fit pleanty of other boards in there.

My build notes are over at https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

I like this. What programming environment is this and what kind of apps do you have for it?

This is Debian Linux running Terminator terminal emulator. The terminal itself is running bTop system monitor on the left and TinTin++ MU* client, connected to FurryMUCK on the right

Amazing.

I love the design on this one

im working on getting all the perfect parts (and a 3d printer) for taking my first deck to that stage but i will be stealing a couple design ideas off yours as i was still working on figuring out that part..

Good work good sir or madam

Thanks! And feel free to grab the print files for the case and remix them however you like if it helps. The fun thing with rapid prototyping is getting to try out things :D

This is so fucking awesome 💜

Wow! Great work!

Y have you chose Kali?

Could you please take few photos "in use"? I can't imagine how could people use it in our world or in abstract "cyberpunk" world))

I actually went with debian in the end, and just install modules from Kali, to keep things simple. Mostly cos I'll be using it for cyber-security stuff and Kali is a great toolkit for that :)

What sort of demo photos did you have in mind?

Yeah, Kali has a lot of soft for that. Do you work in cybersec? I could imagine your co-workers face when you come to beat the virus with THIS! :D It's really cool thing!

About photo. Dunno, how to hold it? Do you just put in on the table or...? And how to move it from place to place (or handles more like for aesthetic)?

I dont do cybersecurity full time these days but its still an aspect of my job :)

The deck is designed to be used either on a table or on your lap, with the handle mainly for carrying. But you can also attach a carry strap, so you can wear it like a bag. There isn't really a right or wrong way to use it :)

Would it be possible for me to commission you to make one of these for me? I’d do it myself but I don’t have too much free time for projects anymore. I’m serious tho, I want one of these and am willing to pay for it.

Sorry, I don't really have the time to take on commissions right now. I'm happy to advise on the build if you wanted but, sadly freetime is at a premium for me too :(

Great to hesr you like it so much though! :D

Damn that’s fucking cool…

LOVE this, especially the handle, great work :D

Ok op help me out, can you hook up screens to each arm when attached?, All the ports I see work? Is that a disc drive?!?! I know the tech goggles are actually usable, but is that a touch mouse pad?!?!

The Pi4 supports 2 screen natively, but you can use a phone or similar as an additional sceen and toggle keyboard control between devices easily. Yep, all the ports and fully functional. Thats a micro-sd slot that I styled to look like a disk drive (I wanted skme sort of easily removable media), and yep, thats a touchpad :)

It really look great 👍

I dont know what it is but I want one!

So uh… when you gonna start selling these?

yeah!! i want one soo bad too!! especially for using Flipper Zero and DStrike!!

let us know if you ever do plan to sell a few!

My brother in Christ, how much?

To build? Not much really, maybe £200 if you're buying all the bits new. You could probably reduce that if you used a cheaper keyboard.

I've uploaded a build log with links to the STL files for the case

https://medium.com/@garrwolfdog/building-a-cyberdeck-799a3412557a

I'd love to see what others make with them :D

That’s dope

I always ask, what's it do?

what's this?

This is fucking awesome, what do you use it for?

As a noob wanted to ask its purpose and effectiveness?

That is fn sick to put a picatinny rail on it. solid port layout as well dawg
