I use a lot of these but that doesn’t make me ungovernable lol

So many memes on this sub are just bulletin boards full of the apps you should be using. Is there a discord or something that someone has set up that tells you what you can use in place of proprietary software. Kind of like game modding discords that have lists of mods and why you should use them.

I think privacy focused people don't use discord.

I think privacy focused people don't use reddit

I mean... we do, but I guess we aren't as hardcore as others probably

I haven't found a good alternative. Fosscord is a thing but its too early in development. Discord is awesome from a social perspective, but sucks from a technical viewpoint.

I have deleted Reddit because of the API changes effective June 30, 2023.

Revolt looks great! Thanks

Go on idk r/privacy, r/degoogle, r/privacyguides, and search for lists. You'll find them. Just earlier today I was reading through a list of private stuff on github.

Mind posting what you‘be found?

this is cringey

yeah, a lot of software doesn't make sense for the title

Become ungovernable by using…VLC?

Wine is somehow more confusing to me

That way windows can't track you! I guess xD

But git?

I mean it's "that way you can install closed source apps!" to me :p

Haha I missed this one, it's a good one too. I guess it means "check the source before installing"? But like, who does that IRL and why not gitlab or wathever? Idk...

Haha yeah that's also true.

Idk, but people don't use git for that, they usually use GitHub. But it's an interesting list xD

me when I use half of these but it's because im a cheap bastard

I don't know how to communicate properly without losing my account.

The government when they see me use GIMP:

This is just a crap ton of open source software, there are way easier and more effective ways at improving your privacy.
