Speaking of which, if anybody is interested in seeing one of the best shows ever made, go get season 1 of the Italian show Gomorrah. I'm rewatching it right now, its amazing. I liked it so much I bought the dvd set after watching the series, even thought I dont even have a dvd player.

Theres an Italian movie Gomorrah by the people that made the series, that came out a few years before the series, so I didnt want cause confusion in that regard. I imagine the movie is pretty good as well, but its not the series I can vouch for. And yeah the later seasons are great, though some think there is a decline in quality after season 2 or 3, but I dont completely agree, or at least there are things to offset their complaints, like the cinematography going from superb to godlike.

The concept of fan-baiting in movies seems to have started with Ghostbusters 2016, but to bring it back to games, it's not that far off from the Mass Effect 3 ending controversy.
You're probably familiar but the tl;dr version is that the ending was poorly received for not paying off many of the set ups throughout the trilogy, and instead of having a satisfying finale tailored to the many choices you made throughout the series, you arbitrarily picked one of three different colored endings that had nothing to do with the previous 100+ hours of gameplay.
They didn't even have a Fallout-style "Where are they now?" vignette. And yes I know they stole that from Animal House but I digress.
When the fans got mad, the critics, who ostensibly exist to help customers pick and choose what to buy, bent the knee to EA and called the complainers 'entitled.' They should be happy they got what they got.

There are people out there who make generally well-received movies and also hit the mark for "diversity" like Jordan Peele. But Hollywood seems creatively bankrupt these days, and they churn out remake after remake. Antagonizing fans and playing this media game seems to be a way to try to at least market and get some butts in the seats of movies that just have no real creative spark to them.
I agree. They've been pumping out low quality remakes and sequels for at least 15 years. The talent left long ago. Now they just want cheap script writers to pump out content. They don't care about quality. Especially on streaming services.
There is a big demand for good entertainment now. I don't think it will be the US/Hollywood that takes the opportunity to fill the gap. There's already much more creative ideas coming out of Japan.

I think that is part of the reason the representation myth is pushed so hard. Why pay for a quality writer when you can hire some unqualified ideological fresh out of college writer? Hollywood was a cultural juggernaut back in the days of yore when they hired based on talent, but multiple generations of nepotism and the casting couch have utterly rotted the talent pool. Nowadays it's all but impossible to be a rags-to-riches story on account of Hollywood, and it shows in both the mediocrity and the cultural sensibilities of current celebrities.

They are disgusted and tired of creating stories that don't revolve around the only issues that matter to them like promoting unconventional sexual behavior, gender identity, condemnation of colonialism and patriarchy, deconstruction of traditional values, etc. So they either make films that they themselves don't like, or they try at every opportunity to deviate from telling a story of interest to the audience in favor of telling stories of interest to themselves. How many times You heard from actor or director that he wishes that character from his movie would be gay and "explore his sexuality"? They now that if all movies would all the time revolve around leftist concepts, thet would go broke, so they can't do it - but are very upset because of it. They want to make ideological manifestos, but instead they must at least try to make movies that are at least slightly interesting for the audience - and this is horrible.
