The google tells me it's from S01e09 of Muppets Tonight. On further research, I've come to believe that it was first released in 1996. Apologies for the error in the title (it seems to have aired on the Disney Channel in 1997, after they bought the show from ABC, where it'd first aired in 1996).
When did Disney buy ABC? I feel like it was around this time.

Sometimes I like to sing songs on the radio in Kermit's voice because it makes my girlfriend laugh. It's a pretty fun voice to sing in.

Love the original song, love Kermit. This version not so much. But the video is spot-fucking-on-amazing.
Multiple voices for the chorus would have given it more depth. There were multiple Kermits, so it would have still fit.
It's not obscure, but I really love this video of David Byrne interviewing himself through different made up personalities.

I have this clip deeply imprinted on my brain. As a kid I loved the Muppets Tonight and had every episode aired on VHS. Such a great show!
