You have to pay a monthly fee in order to get all the example videos. I don't mind paying but who needs this that bad to pay that much money for it?

Youtube editors who want to be able to name drop as much as possible

holy shit, now i know how they can always inject the perfect movie clip into a video!! i was always thinking, how the heck do they always find the perfect clip for what they just said? do they download the whole movie and scrub the entire thing just to find it?

my mind's a little blown, and I'm also feeling stupid that I didn't think to look for something like this sooner

I would actually use this, because while I have to wear my phone on a leash around my neck so as not to lose it, I can remember perfect movie phrases for just about any damn situation and can never find the gif I want.

I am, however, cheap.

What is your favorite for when someone you are friendly with says something stupid?

Lol I didn't remember this this one thanks

Of course I wish I had the wherewithal to memorize this, but definitely another classic. I guess you could simplify it to, ā€œI award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul. ā€œ

Lmfao that is amazing! I'm not a fan of Adam Sandler movies generally but I gotta give that one a watch (yes I know it's a classic, have mercy on my soulšŸ™)

It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it plays out.

not the person you asked, but my go-to is a reply The Oracle delivers in The Matrix when a comment goes over Neo's head: "Not too bright, though."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6VjPM5CeWs

Oh yeah! That's a Coen bros movie isn't it? They always have superb dialogue

Smooth move Ferguson

Take any random clip from Ricky Gervais show

Probably the "oKAY, then" from Raising Arizona. They didn't seem to have that one though

There’s also an app where if the phrase hasn’t been said in its entirety it will mash up all the words from different movies to create the phrase.

I remember that, what's it called?

/u/9lives_ id love to know what that app is

I downloaded the free trial a few years back I just cant remember the name for the life of me and can’t think of any relevant search terms.

You can easily use the "Clip That" feature on mobile YouTube to make clips from scenes. That's what I do.

I love that feature and wish it was easier to see clips other people have made like on twitch.

Someone linked this one a whole back and I love it

https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxddHdO1BNlWgaG0oOqsvap-ErjuSQTC0a

Ditto, all of the above.

Try getyarn.io. Have a pretty extensive database, you can get vid clips, gifs, even make meme gifs with new font and same vid. Plus it’s free

Can we all go in on a subscription together

OG YouTubers did just that. Or they have a folder of meme clips just like all redditors have a folder of meme pics, though most people use imgflip or other meme generators.

You could just download subtitle files and search them

Today you’re part of the 10 000, enjoy! :)

Lol that definitely doesn't apply in this instance

Sure it does, we're all a part of the 10,000 today.

I never knew about this comic strip. So much past material to binge!

Ironic, considering your username.

Didn't click for me until you typed it out thank you

It was that day he became the true clip riddler no long were letters on paper enough now every gif every short he could say anything to anyoneĀæ?Āæ?

I'm a movie youtuber, and I just found this thing right now.

I might use this, but until now it's because I have an insanely good memory about movies. I can't tell you my next door neighbors' names, bit I can pull movie quotes out of my ass

Some of us are just autistic enough to remember and be able to catalog in our heads everything we’ve ever watched.

Although some YouTubers are just meme savants honestly, this is a great tool to give us better content!

Holy shit the business need totally makes sense now

Except they won't pay for it lol

Oh yeah, so that's how CinemaSins does it for their outro.

Lmao now you can pay to have the sickest references

Holy shit that actually makes a lot of sense

Huh, that explains so much about some commentators

Ah of course the target audience is...

Checks phone again

YouTube editors

Of course

E: c'mon I thought it was funny

DarkViper seems to do it just fine without whatever this is lol

If you edit social media or YouTube, this thing is really much more valuable. Takes like 30 seconds and no splicing. It may not be this site, but something like this will make millions.

Too bad the owner is a Ruzzian

Try this one. It's free https://yarn.co/

Is there a way to stop all the videos from autoplaying on the frontpage?

It's cool but doesn't play all the scenes together in one video.

creator trying to make profit i would assume

or... cover costs? it has to be expensive to host and serve all of that data

Commenter is asking who would pay for it, not why would they charge for it.

Comment I replied to said the guy who made it wants to profit. I said they prob want to cover costs.

Who would pay? YouTube video editors

No he said [a] creator would pay for the service.

i've heard it both ways

Of course, the only difference between the two interpretations would be the article, which was completely omitted.

However, given the context of the question being answered — who would pay for this service — the interpretation talking about the creator of the service wouldn't make sense.

fair but just fyi i'm an outside just making a Psych reference where i saw an opening

Except you're adding the [a], and the original phrase was ambiguous enough that it can obviously be read multiple ways.

"Why would anyone pay for this?"

"I dunno man. The creator must want to profit off it"

Anyway this whole discussion is stupid. Let's all get back to our lives.

Could serve just the text and save millions

I have nothing against that, but $3.00 per month which is $36 per year is very excessive.

Excessive? Id say very cheap. But I would only consider of using it for profit reason.

I might use a 1 month subscription as a gift for some people.

hm, seems tough to do in a gift-like way, though

$0.10 a day is excessive?

I guess if you're going for big businesses it's okay but for the common person? Absolutely.

$3 per month seems pretty fair?

If I really liked what they made, I might pay the thing to support the creator. It’s only the cost of a dinner out for two.

[deleted]

Just wish someone offered something more affordable. I would use it myself a lot.

Aside from affordability you’d have to pay a Russian

You need a better paying job.

Linguistics and anthropology departments, among others!

I found [Youglish] (https://youglish.com) a while back. It's pretty neat if you want to hear a word or phrase in any particular accent.

Think about how helpful this would have been for the people editing the audio transformer bumblebee with him talking in quotes (just an example, I don't care what you thought of the movies)

I typed in "fuck me running". Almost got me.

Seems like a cool tool if you just wanted to string together your favorite song lyrics with movie soundbites. Could be a neat channel.

The people that make memes

I've been paying for it for about a year. Am a teacher who likes to do 'word of the days' and this provides multiple examples of use within (mostly) relevant context.

This is a youtuber's dream

I used to work for an advertising company that would produce lots of internal videos for clients using this. Slap some text and a music bed in there, and you’re getting an impressive result for cheap.

Musicians too. Use samples for their songs

Having done this 'manually' and sampling from untold hundreds of hours movies I feel blown away. Also is this sinking feeling that I wasted hundreds of hours of my life...

I would pay for this 100%

piggyback off top comment.

this website does same thing but for free (I think)

https://yarn.co/

Neurodivergent adhd ppl with ptsd and terrible social skills (me) lmaoooo

I do marketing for a streaming service. This would absolutely be helpful when we so those boring tv commercials where snippets from movies make a cool edit.

Very cool but very incomplete - e.g. I couldn't get any phrase from Blade Runner

probably lost like tears in the rain.

Hey that phrase seems so familiar. I just can't place it.

Then have I got a website for you

www.google.com

ā€œTears in rain.ā€ But good job, good effort.

Oh well...

Time……… to die.

Yeah you're right, but you might be approaching it from the reverse angle of what the developers intended. I think it's more geared toward helping someone who has a specific sentence in their head find an accompanying scene for it, rather than someone with a movie in their head wanting to just see the scene again.

But yeah you're still right that there could be a deeper breadth of results.

I think they might only have specific films listed. I kept getting results from ~~shaws shank redemption~~ lol Shawshank Redemption

Ahh I do love shawn's stank reduction

Lol dammit autocorrect

I tried for something from Solar Opposites and couldn’t get it either.

I couldn't find Fear and Loathing. Still cool.

Damn, that's the first thing I thought of too when thinking of something to test it with

Yeah, I tried "I'm all out of bubble gum" with many variations and also got zero results.

getyarn.io has been around a while and has a much bigger catalog

But getyarn seems to focus on single words - e.g. i typed in a name and getyarn found lots with first name and lots with second but OPs post found the whole name

yarn doesn't do this quite as well

I think that depends on the search. I've always been able to find exactly what I'm looking for if it's in their database.

https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/1752475d-5d9e-4815-92fd-d65d8b2a989c

https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/45e11508-f576-4221-a98b-ab19c67b2087

Is there a way to stop all the videos from autoplaying on the frontpage?

on mobile, there is a toggle on the video window that will disable it. that's a new feature from some recent update and I do not like it.

"Let's get out of here" is sometimes called the most common line in movies. It appears 997 times here.

"what is this place?" is another good (and annoying) one.

"I love you" appears 9766 times. So you can send someone you love a new gif every day for 26.7 years

I'm gonna write this down

Bull. "No." has to be far more popular.

Let's split up

I put in "Doh" and there wasn't one Homer clip. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Try "D'oh" from what I understand the apostrophe is the correct spelling.

That didn't work either. Good suggestion though!

D'oh!! 😣

You nailed that, I must say :)

In the scripts it is (was?) Written as annoyed grunt

Try "annoyed grunt".

You have to type it out as <>

I think in the script it's actually written as "Homer exclaims"

That's because frinkiac.com already exists.

At least you tried!

frinkiac.com

If you're aiming to make it linkable, just put a www. in front and you should be set. :D

www.frinkiac.com I'm not used to linking to sites directly on reddit.

I swear I get like daily use out of frinkiac

Did it respond with, "Eat my shorts?"

unfortunately not

I checked and it doesn’t. Seems to not have animated shows included

Does Bart say it in the movie?

I think the actual written line is "annoyed grunt".

[deleted]

The term you're looking for is "minotaur".

Upvote for ReviewBrah...

This is actually quite cool. I can imagine using this to show my ESL students examples of semi-fixed phrases and prepositions.

0 results for ā€œIt’s morbin’ timeā€, something isn’t working I think

Maybe the archives are incomplete?

If an item does not appear in our records, it does not exist.

I think it must be because Morbin’ has a capital M

"it can't rain all the time" failed to show The Crow. My disappointment is immeasurable.

ā€œRail all the timeā€ finds it.

I tried "what are you doing, step brother?". It couldn't find anything. What a shame.

Still only one move with the line "I don't like sand."

Ah yes, ā€œGirls Do It On The Beachā€, a classic.

2 have "fit as fuck"

https://www.playphrase.me/#/search?q=this+is+where+the+fun+begins

Save your breath for cooling your porridge.

The Mario movie trailer having Chris Pratt say ā€œwhat is this placeā€ was so ridiculously generic I had to try it. 129 other results.

Haha that was my go-to as well. In our house, any time ā€œwhat is this placeā€ comes out of the tv, it’s time for a hearty ā€œAAAAYYYYY!ā€ and a big swig of whatever beverage you’ve got in your hand.

I hate ā€œwhat is this place.ā€ Nobody IRL says it, and it’s lazy writing. Thanks for being one of us.

Well people IRL don't tend to end up in strange new places that they weren't intending to go and have never heard of?

For better or worse, buddy, you are describing New York City.

Right up there with the real slow ā€œwhere are we?ā€¦ā€ So lazy

[deleted]

Hey, let's ask that guy over there! SrGrafo, what year is it?

Grand theft Auto 5.

Oh, it’s like a full web version of Her Story!

This is fucking amazing, thank you! Awesome resource for finding the right vocal sample for my music projects

oh thats neat

"you can only use this 5 times unless you are a sponsor"

Oh guess ill never be going back to that site anytime soon.

This was neat! Found 4 examples of my phrase right away and the clips were spot on

Excuse me why does "hack the planet" not bring up the 1995 classic film Hackers.

Was she a great big fat person?

I'd fuck me hard.

He got serial-crushed by some yuge friggin’ guy

Nice! Not bad, I think it needs some work yet but well done overall!

"You just don't get it, do you?"

What's the tl;dr for how these are made? Do they have a speech recognition tool listen to films and catalog a lot of time stamps or something?

Scripts and timestamps are easily accessible online, there's likely a database somewhere of them

Who or what would create the link between the timestamp and the script? If anyone finds this database let me know lol..

Subtitle files are time stamped.

Ah, I see you haven't ventured on the rough seas, matey... There's sites that even rate subtitles for accuracy & completeness, and sites that match the script to "your" version of the movie...

Lol, I've used those websites before. There still needs to be something that will go out and get the clips of those time stamps.

Only one "This is Brazil "

If you try ā€œPorch Monkeyā€ you get to watch clerks 2 with brief cutaways to extremely racist moments in other films

I have a bad feeling about this [website crashes]

If it doesn't know about kicking ass and chewing bubblegum I don't want it.

Oh, you beautiful mother fucker. Now I'm gonna be here all day dicking around.

I suggested this as an Xmas gift. I would do nothing else for an entire year.

Not working on mobile, cant click the search bar because my navigation buttons are over the search bar.

7038 results for "You just don't get it, do you?"

enhance!

Terrible on mobile.

« Does he look like a bitch » returns nothing

88 results: https://www.playphrase.me/#/search?q=it's+a+trap

It works if you use a normal apostrophe.

Doesn’t work.

That's pretty cool.

I dunno how to post it there but r/whatisthismoviecalled

Getting better results on YouTube

Can't find a movie that says "get these mother fucking snakes off this mother fucking plane".

Because he says "I am tired of these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane."

also not found

They do have "let's get sushi and not pay."

I have three children because of this phrase.

"Oh I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?" =can't find it

Not one "get to the choppa"

try "get to the chopper"

I did that one too, only one from Arnold

Want the full star wars experience: "got a bad feeling about this".

Writing 'That's what she said' and getting 0 Michael Scott in return is not acceptable.

Cold toes

Your mother's an astronaut!

"kill them all."

Interesting! You can search your name, and find all the stereotypes about it in the movies! I am apparently a hacker, and someone from an action movie is searching for me…

Cool. Cool cool cool

Amazing. How about a subscriber be able to share full search results instead of just 5? I would want my buddy to experience all 167 clips for "get fucked"

This is going to consume way too much of my day.

I've tried ' I'm iron man'. Get just one finding from the first movie.

ā€žThe Bandā€œ - now I have to watch Blues Brothers again.

"I suck dick for money" hahahaha

Trying to find Arnie quotes. Can't find the classic - Where's Richter? - I disarmed him. (After tearing his arms off with the elevator)

"party Richter" works for the the end of the elevator scene.

"That's poopalicious." didn't work...sigh.

Nice! My favorite line from a movie came up!

Look up "they can bill me", it worked like a charm!

Sadly "It's all the reflexes" came up empty

So cool

The website couldn't find any clips of dialogues by Lockdown in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

"fucking birds" Lol

amazing

OMG I love this so much!

Jesus Christ, Frank

There was a similar website that generates an audio that uses different songs for each word typed, but I don’t remember the website…

That's fuckin cool

This is not mobile friendly at all. I can't even see what I'm typing because my keyboard covers the search bar at the bottom. Which is one reason why search bars are never at the bottom.

Can you condense your keyboard? Worked on my Pixel

It’s morbin time

It sucks It didn't have the first thing I typed in.

It had it in there funny

Bunny ballball

Strange, 'Cum Stain' only gave me 2 results.

Type in "Can't Won't" and it just has a subtitle with an error.

Type in "Cannot Will Not" and it shows a bunch.

Dope

"Yippy kai yay, mister falcon" has some foul-mouthed Eurotrash dude who looks like that Snape guy from "Harry Potter."

these pretzels are making me thirsty!

Didn't find anything :(

wOw!

Not bad.

Now I know how Andrew Santino’s team made the intros for Whiskey Ginger and Bad Friends

I need this for Its Always Sunny….

This don’t work that well.

It doesnt work.

When I type in "But you have heard of me" I expect to see Jack sparrow first, not 86 movies that aren't pirates of the Caribbean or anything even close to the phrase detected.

typed in "funky buttloving" and got Rookie of the Year clip. Legit.

Types in "you don't get it do you" 1 trillion results

I'll be back - no Arnie. Seriously?

Interesting. Parts of T1 are definitely there...

  • you're terminated fucker
  • I put a cigarette

Both of them are (near as I can tell) T1. However...

  • nothing clean right

While this is in both T1 and T-Genisys, it only brings up T-Genisys.

maybe legal issues? I mean, some catch phrases may be protected by law (trademark, other types of ownership idk), while "regular" dialogs are not

btw, would you please upvote my previous comment - I feel bad today, and it will enlight it. Thanks!

If anyone’s played Deltarune, I always interpreted Spamton’s bracketed speech as using clips from other works. (ads/shows/movies/etc.)

If the site works well, I could actually put together a demonstration of that idea without scouring the internet for clips.

If the site works, this could really help me

if you type "it's cool" the first clip.. is not cool

Ohhhhh that's super fun. Just searched "nice marmot."

It don't work

It... does.

This is truly beautiful

https://www.playphrase.me/#/search?q=neat

Doesn't Giphy almost do the same thing

"One time at band camp"

Fantastic site. Spent 15 minutes typing in random phrases to see what came up.

Couldn’t get quotes from any of my favorite shows. This is missing a lot.

It's only movies I think

The movie phrase I care about is "Oh look, a deli meat" and it worked perfectly.

Have you heard the story of the scorpion and the fox/frog? Well, let me now explain this simple parable as slowly as possible...

Seriously though I'm so sick of that parable. It's used way to often and almost always explained fully. I love minutes of my life each time a movie or show includes it.

It time to bust this thing wide open

Tried 习近平大傻逼 and it didn’t work.

Chill Winston

It isn't perfect....

Mr. Stank

I didn't know it was that common

https://www.playphrase.me/#/search?q=I've+got+a+bad+feeling+about+this

"I'll buy that for a dollar!"

You can do this also on GetYarn which is free

types in "alright alright alright" and "don't fuck with me"

This is a weird way to call a subscriber a "sponsor".

"donkey nuts" not found

Let's go, this place is giving me the creeps.

getyarn.io is much better and there's no limit on how many clips you can find and view

Should've named it MemeMaker3000

Pork rinds?

Potato

What a fun rabbit hole

This website never finds the phrases you type in. His did this garbage get 4k likes did you morons even click on the link?

"Time to die"

Unfuckingbelievable

Good idea but needs work. It couldn’t find many basic quotes. Like Lebowski, Goodfellas, etc.

Couldn't get anything to pop up from school of Rock hmm

Unfortunately, it doesn't know the famous "English, Motherfucker, do you speak it?"

"Who farted?"

"Did you fart??

Love this !!

Doesn't work that well

Would have been more fun if 50 percent of the quotes weren't from the same movie

This would be great for YouTube editing these days, everyone wants to throw in a clip of whatever reference they make.

Man, only one movie clip for "blow me where the pampers."

I expected more!

Why is this website trying to skim the browsers password field before you even log in? Suspicious

"I picked the wrong week" lmao

https://www.playphrase.me/#/search?q=super+green

https://playphrase.me/#/search?q=some+kind+of+suicide+squad

That was a fun ten minutes

Type in "you know what your problem is?" Instant crash

More like PayPhrase

I thought this was just called Google?

Gimme

"Say what again" not in there? Is it all indie quotes??

i was not expecting nudity to appear. but I'm not complaining.

The only result for ā€œLeave the gun. Take the cannoli.ā€ is from You Got Mail? wtf

I had an idea similar to this today. Not exactly. But i could use this site to make my idea come true.

I’m thinking Googling: movie script and the phrase would get you better results for free. But looks fun.

I got a bad feeling about this

"check bubblegum and kick ass" is not there

my disappointment is unmeasurable and my day is ruined.

"Yippee Ki Yay" - no results

This is fucking awesome

Among us

Looked up the line "you ever fart so hard your back cracks" from Larry the cable guys Health Inspector. Didn't find it.

"Just a boy." Thank you, and you're welcome.

horrible ui on mobile, but the clip from the movie "over the edge" came up as hoped

They have to have all movies rights to make this site? Or since it only uses part of it, they do not need?

"It's Morbin time!"

Thanks for posting OP. Not a criticism of the post but the site itself seems to be a bit shit.

I put in a bunch of quotes and got no results.

The dealbreaker for me was when I entered "Tasty Burger" and got nothing.

I think they are a bit keen asking for money when the site doesnt even understand a Tarantino quote.

This is a reaction Youtuber's dream.

That would be google

This feels like my brain turned into a website. I love it.

it's morbing time has no results 0/10

Great fun! Here's a classic modern movie trope: https://www.playphrase.me/#/search?q=no+signal

I was not expecting to found a result for ā€œcock and ball tortureā€

Wasn't this trending a few days ago, or is my brain fried?

Your move, creep

Try Yarn.com

Repost

Saved

That's really cool, but it feels so limited in what you can see for free, that I don't know if it's really working. I tried some really famous lines that didn't come up, some famous ones that gave the wrong clip, then it stated telling me I reached the 5 free clips per search, but on a search that only had 2 hots, that I didn't even actually get to see

Just saying, if I needed this service, I would be scared away by the free version

"Fucking elephants" passed my test.

Try "Hakuna Matata". There seems to be a scene with a penis pulling out of a hole and I'm so confused.

Yooo I need this in my life

Site is broken. I type "Captain Janeway says these are not the droids you're looking for" and I get no relevant hits

Amazing...

Careful if you type in "up yours" 😬

Does the site work on mobile?

https://find-scene.com/

what?
