I feel so represented each time I see someone using old reddit.
I feel so represented each time I see someone using old reddit.
I don't even know what new reddit looks like now.
You're really not missing out on much...
It's ridiculous. On just the front page of r/all the difference is 2 posts per page vs 12 per page.
Though I'm using RES which I think is a must have anyway...
Damn that's hard to look at. My reddit looks exactly like yours on the right, just as it has for the past like 10 years, I can't imagine why I'd want it any different. Old reddit, RES, and dark mode are the way to go.
Layout really isn't all that different, click the little drop down on the far right side of the bar containing "Hot New Top" then select "classic" or "compact" instead of "card". Also by the looks dark mode seems to be off as well.
The performance on the other hand will make you want to put a screwdriver through your eye at times.
New reddit is such trash. The search in subreddits doesn't even work for crying out loud. (not that old reddit is much better)
Have you tried using search lately? It works pretty great these days.
In new reddit? fairly recently, just a bar at the top but it searches all of reddit and gives useless results. I see no option to search just within the subreddit and limit it by how long ago.
Seems to work for me, I just typed in the bar at the top and hit "enter".

If you go to the subreddit, then type in keywords, it will search only that sub. Alternatively, and this also worked on old Reddit, you can type "subreddit: blablabla". There are recency controls as well.
In fact, they very recently added the ability to search comments. I don't know how effective it is.
I use BUTT VPN
I hear it's the best
Video from the internet, you have exactly 4.2 seconds to entertain me. Make it count.
song?
It wouldn’t load fast enough so I didn’t watch it and kept scrolling, probably wasn’t that important.
I literally had to turn my VPN off to get this video to load. I feel cold
tldr exponential function/malthusian trap
malthusians... 🤢
This is really good, just the music and timing and minimal sound effects. Reminds me of /r/sliceoflife
Thanks! Glad you liked it!!
r/auddbot have I found true love?
Hell yah this is good!
middle click you weirdo
What's the background music? The video description just lists a composer.
Hey there! He's a talented friend of mine who made it just for this video! I could see if he has a name for it!
Wow, that's really cool! I guess there's probably not a longer version then though?
Just got word that he is working on a longer version and it will be put up on his channel. :) https://www.youtube.com/c/0the0director0
The Reddit experience.
“Oh that video looks really cool.”
“Oh it’s a v.redd.it. Bummer, that would have been interesting.”
One of the major reasons we don't allow it on /r/videos haha
Haha yeah... Anyway I'm a moderator on /r/videos.
It's not, like, a big deal, though...
Just kinda mentioning it here.
I dont get the hate for those videos. I use old reddit and RES and my experience is good
Sometimes, for no reason at all, they just don't work. They'll load the first couple seconds and stop forever. Then you try to load it in another page, and it doesn't even load the beginning this time. I don't know exactly what it is, but the coding for it is awful.
If you're using RES (and old reddit), I can highly recommend enabling the option "Force Replace Native Expando". I haven't had any issues since then.
new reddit 🤢
amirite lads?
Well, yes, actually.
It's actually awful if you don't have the app on mobile.
Reddit Is Fun is so superior to the actual app it isn't even funny
So is Apollo. There are multiple way better apps than the official one.
I use sync for reddit (android) and paid the pro version, no regrets
I copy the share link and paste it in my web browser and then it ask if I want to view on Reddit click yes and voilà it magically loads.
then you just click "save" and revisit it sometime later. Sometimes it just needs a day or something idk
Literally just starting the video again by dragging the navigation thing to the start works for me whenever that happens.
Usually when I try that, it just gives up and forgets that it has already loaded some of it.
On new.reddit the video quality drops partway through to like 122p for no reason while on old.reddit the video would have worked fine. And before you say "maybe you have slow internet", I have gigabit fiber through verizon, and can stream several 4k streams at once without issue.
It sounds like it sucks ass from all the responses i got. I wonder if RES has something to do with my lack of issues
I also have RES
The player is about the worst one ever made and takes ages and ages to load. Even with excellent wifi, sometime it will just decide you only deserve 3 pixels. The quality selection also just doesn't work.
I can't trust that sharing a link to the video will work out for someone else. Is it going to ask them to install the reddit app? Is it going to send them to the comments section? Will it even play the video?
Also most of the time it's just stolen content anyway.
Outside of the US it takes ages to load a few megabytes. I don't bother even clicking v.reddit links when not in the US
On PC it works for me and on Apollo they finally have started to work (mostly). But for a while there they were absolute dog shit. Never loaded, stays in 240p, froze, did load but took 37 year, etc.
v.redd.it is fucking horrible since the start
V.redd.it exists solely to bring people to the site because it's such a pain to take the actual video and send it on. It doesn't need to be good, and it isn't.
