People who liked the elder scrolls trying out fallout

Or installing their 300th Skyrim mod

what's this loverslab thing?

Yoooooo you brought back forgotten memories. Guess I’ll have to install Skyrim again see what level of horniness my 14 year-old self was on

It's still going strong lol, also supports more games

Or maybe Legolas got a buff

Or maybe people who liked elder scrolls trying out fallout.

You just copied the guy a couple comments above you…

That was the joke, yes

How does copying someone else’s joke constitute a joke?

But why male models?

They've got Electrolytes!

Patch notes v4.0.7.d:

Ranged weapons (Legolas)

Updated item set to include entire US SOCOM armaments to address DPS balancing issues

Let's be honest if anyone one was to whip out a assault rifle it'd be the dwarf

Isn't this just 40k?

Elves in 40k already have guns, but they shoot flechette/mini-ninja stars.

Imagine legolas using this instead of his bow when he was sliding down the stairs on that shield

He’s Taking the hobbits to isengard, and sending anyone in his way to hell.

Eh

M249 para would be better

Dude, Legolas would have an Accuracy International.

Legolas got himself a little upgrade

I would love a cut of the trilogy with nothing different other than Legolas having a rifle

There's no trilogy then because he will be serving in Iraq

I knew a guy who fell from the helo when doing fast roping drills ona carrier. Shattered his legs. Ended up getting one amputated. Went hog hunting with other disabled vets (me included) and Chris kyle’s brother. It was kinda neat.

What part? Also, did you bring the rubber baby?

What part… of his leg? Iirc it was below knee. I don’t get the rubber baby reference.

You said it was kinda neat but I think you meant the hunting part and not the falling form the helo part. The baby reference is from the terrible scene in American Sniper with the fake baby.

Lol!!! Yeah the hunting was kinda neat. My buddy (-2 whole legs and -1 testicle) got 2 deer, I didn’t see anything from the stand I was in.

Ohhhh I never saw the movie.

Some of the best days hunting is helping someone else. Good job being there for your buddy. Here's the famous clip from the movie.

Shit I only broke 5 bones and dislocated my ankle when I did. Then again I landed in a grass field (missed concrete by like 5 feet) and not a flight deck. Shit healed fast enough for me to deploy 4 months later

I don't know why but this made me lose my shit laughing

Not even obiwan could save him

or whatever the lord of the rings equivelent is

Fell off an Eagle deep in Mordor territory?

Someone remade the whole first Harry Potter movie while editing every wand to be a functional gun.

Making this should be comparably easy

… link?

Here’s the trailer

Link to get the full thing here

Ahh yes. For the American audience.

"Welcome to Pigherpes' Private School of Satanism and Gunplay. All the teachers are armed. All the students are armed. Feel free to visit the fourth floor, that demon dog dont stand a chance."

Dirty Harry Potter has become a reality!

Especially if he just used it to awkwardly fire arrows.

And still at the same rate with his bow

What if someone gave Fëanor a gun?

Ok but he has to shoot the bullets one at a time by pulling back and releasing the slide in a similar motion that he would use when firing an arrow from a bow.

This is my rifle and this is my bow, one is for fighting one is for show.

They have trailer with Harry Potter with guns

That's clearly Thranduil King of the Woodland Realm. I'll shut up now.

Actually I'm pretty sure that's Sauron's pretty elf man form.

Sauron's a femboy in his free time? Huh

When you are surrounded by Orcs, Trolls and their ilk, a little dainty culture can go a long way

look up annatar (another name of sauron) fanart lol

Man, I had to find you. I was wondering if I missed something from the picture

That's not Legolas it's his cousin Legolashnikov.

I like upgrades

“That still only counts as one…..clip”

Legolas be like : hey arragon wanna see what this little mf can do

Call of Elrond - Elven Warfare

I would totally play that game lol.

Men are weak and elfs are about to sort their mess.

Kumo desu ga spoilers

Potimas is at it again

I was lookin for one of these lol

Glad I'm not the only one who had this thought

Gat-adriel.

Ah I shake so much that I can't control my guns rate of fire mode.

3 round burst makes me sick 🤢

Not for long

It belongs to the Thalmor now, Ulfric

Shadowrun be like

Or, when you slide the DM a $20 under the table.

Oooh did I just find the Magic Wand of M4A1 in this chest?

Hmm, interesting, would definitely like to see modern weapons in lord of the rings tbh.

They tried that in the Netflix movie, Bright (2017). Modern urban fantasy that has Orcs with shotguns, aimbot dark elves with tactical rifles, LAPD riot-geared centaurs; all alongside some magic stuff and prophecies in a plot that has hamfisted allegories of racism and class inequality thrown in.

It was a weird movie.

it reminds me a lot of Shadowrun, wich is a cyberpunk TTRPG with magic and fantasy creatures and shit like that.

Worth a watch though?

Only if you have the free time.

The movie had an interesting premise, but not very well executed IMHO. Lack of coherant worldbuilding and too dark and edgy for a fantasy story. Actor performances from Will Smith are good across the board, but Joel Edgerton has too much of that orc shit on him for him to properly convey his role.

Insightful response. Thank you.

People should also be aware that the film was heavily rewritten due to the sexual assault allegations surrounding Max Landis.

Oh shit i didn’t know that! I wonder if i would have enjoyed it in its original form.

Yeah the plot is definitely amazing, and I haven’t seen a lot of high fantasy in a modern setting, hoped it was a slow paced series so they could build it up well

Yeah that would have been such a great setting for series. Still loved the movie, but the whole time I was watching it all I could think about was "damn …. Wished that was a series"

Dark and edgy fantasy is pretty popular.

True that may be, but when an already dark fantasy was combined with the gritty visuals of a modern LA suburb and a more grounded dreary reality of current social issues, the setting becomes way too dark and pulls most people away from suspending their disbelief. At least that what I felt it did.

Yeah I can see that. I liked the movie, but it was only okay.

I agree with this. For such an overall creative movie it kept defaulting to cliches it critical plot moments.

I really liked it but wouldn't describe it as good.

100% would have been better as a TV series. There wasn’t enough time to world build and also have a coherent plot. Premise was interesting, cast were decent, not enough time or good enough story to make it as good as it could have been IMO.

I enjoyed it. Really depends on how critical you are on movies altogether. I really have three ratings - enjoyed it, didn’t enjoy it, couldn’t finish it. If you’re critical and like picking apart movies you will undoubtedly have a lot to digest with Bright, but damn, it was refreshing. There’s too many damn sequels and remakes nowadays that I just instantly get on board with new ideas.

I like cheesy sci-fi and fantasy, so it was worth it to me. The plot's unoriginal, but not terrible, and the world was interesting.

Not really.

I've heard it described as "Refrigerator Magnet History". This hypothetical weird alternate history more-or-less went down exactly like our real history, only with some extra stuff stuck on top. They throw out references to stuff like the Alamo, Shrek, the Crips, and Black Lives Matter as though any of that would have happened in a world with the Dark Lord and Orcs. It's our history... with a very, very thin coat of fantasy paint.

Interesting concept but absolutely botched in a lazy, rushed, and incomplete execution. Because they made it a movie (a pretty short one, at that) they really don't have time to go into worldbuilding whatsoever, meaning you just get Refrigerator Magnet History. Oh, elves are the rich 1%? Well, no time to explore that metaphor - on with the show!

It baffles me that that's the only example of the concept. For years, I always thought to myself "why the hell is it that any time there's magic and elves and stuff, it's always middle ages? Why isn't there anything where these creatures gotta coexist and fight dragons and stuff in a city with guns and stuff?". Then Bright came out, and I enjoyed it, mostly because it was the first to bring that idea into reality. And I have a feeling it'll be the only example, because it wasn't well received.

It’s a pretty popular sub genre in books called “urban fantasy”. The Dresden Files being one of the more popular examples. You’re right though that it doesn’t get adapted to screen often. Best examples I can think of are the one season of a Dresden Files show they made and another Canadian show called Lost Girl.

I tried getting into Dresden files, but a ton of little things I didn't care for started piling up, to the point I didn't like it. Couldn't finish the 2nd or 3rd book. I'll look into lost girl, though. This isn't the first time it's been recommended, so I'll give it a go

It’s only a trilogy, not a running series, but I can recommend The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I’ve never actually read Dresden Files, tbh.

Ohh ya with Will Smith, ya saw it.

I thought this was a screen shot from the sequel or something

I liked it plenty. But it’s not for everyone.

TIL Will Smith was in a Netflix movie.

Don’t know if it’s still true, but at the time it came out it was the most expensive movie Netflix ever made with a budget of $90 million.

Lmao dunmer have to use aimbot

It's more like the elves are so long-lived that they are naturally hyper-experienced in all types of combat, including firearms. They pull off a lot of scary feats of marksmanship throughout the movie.

Added to my "am I currently drinking and want to watch something" Playlist.

Thanks!

If books are your thing and your curious about the impact of moderns arms in a standard fantasy setting, then maybe "Grunts!", by Mary Gentle, could be interesting.

It's not exactly just LotR with guns. Iirc it's also quite a bit darker than LotR, especially since you follow the bad guys. But it's also been some time since I've read it and my memory is not the best.

Warhammer 40k in a nutshell

Oh please, as if those fancy point-ear boys would ever be so crass as to touch a Mon-keigh weapon...

I bet it doesn't even contain the soul of a single ancestor!

I've been dreaming about an LOTR remake where elves actually developed high technology in Valinor, and all the magic of the elves is actually ancient guns and cell phones that nobody else but Galadriel remembers how to make. Isildur stuck Sauron's finger down his ar15 and banana peeled it. Years later, the gunsmiths of Rivendell would rebarrel the gun for Aragorn.

Sting is a 1911, Glamdring is a FAL. Legolas uses a bolt action hunting rifle. But regular ass men and dwarves are thousands of years behind, still using swords and axes.

In Lothlorien, Galadriel gives the fellowship digital camouflage cloaks and little USA flag pins to fasten them. Legolas gets a Ruger No. 1 single-shot rifle, Merry and Pippin get Beretta M9s. Sam gets a length of parachord instead of one of those nice shiny handguns. Frodo wears a vest of kevlar fibre, worth more than the entire shire, which Bilbo had recieved from the dwarves for his part in reclaiming the lonely oil field from Smaug the flamethrower tank commander.

That is an awesome story idea!

little US flag pins

Oh so it's a dystopian future

God damn it this is the first thing I see and I'm already laughing. A good start for the day

And the age of men had come to pass.

Is this that Elneeeeeeee guy when he actually steps outside

I'd watch the shit out of a reverse isekai where an elf travels to America (cause guns) and discovers firearms.

You'd think a highly intelligent race would practice trigger discipline

Automatic rifles were given to the Elves, the wisest and fairest of all creatures….swords to the Dwarf Lords, great miners and craftsmen, and hand guns were given to mortal men, who all else, desire power…

"We have asked you humans to stop deforesting our lands. Clearly peace was not an option."

5.56 was given to the elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings...

OMG YES

This is where their corruption begins

Nah, that’s an Eld gunslinger artificer. He knows what he’s doing.

Q: Who makes better weapons, dwarves or elves?

Legolas: Oh! what a beautiful bow! It can shoot 10 arrows in a second! It can divide a boat in two! But with our paste we can fix the boat and it still floats! Our magical paste It s waterproof and It fix everything!!!

Legolas found the flex tape

It would make sense for wise, long-lived elves with an affinity for elegance to recognize the benefit of technology. Instead of being turned off by the clunky, wasteful tech of dwarves, and men, it would be just as plausible that they’d incorporate intricate tech into the whole esoteric mystique they try so hard to show off.

Naw it makes sense that they'd be boomers.

She’ll make them hear of the high elves

More of a blessing if that is a magical AR
