The “eye of the needle” was one of the gates into Jerusalem or maybe some other city idk The camels were used for transporting goods so when they arrived at a gate, they had to have everything taken off them to be brought into the city. I’m pretty sure that’s what the verse means but the last part of what I said could’ve been wrong.
It was not, there is no written reference to it as such until 1000 ish years after Christ. The camel gate thing was just copium by rich Christians
and even if that was the case it would be another metaphor of the rich having to shake off all of their wealth and possessions in order to enter the kingdom of heaven.
It would also be a pretty bad metaphor. "There is more chances of a camel entering a gate than there is of rich people entering Heaven" doesn't make any sense as a moral teaching
