Top Gun 3 - Back to the Future
"Oh no, was there a shitty sequel to Top Gun I never heard about?"
Googles "Top Gun 2"
Damn it, now I'm excited about Top Gun: Maverick in 2020. I already know it won't be a good movie, but I'm going to watch it anyway.
I dunno. As much as Reddit hates Tom Cruise (and I'll admit, I'm not crazy about the Scientology either), the guy generally stars in good films. Like all the M:Is are good with the exception of 2, and the best ones are probably the most recent 3 (3 might be better than 4).
Then you have films like Edge of Tomorrow and American Made. Or Valkyrie. Or Knight and Day. All really enjoyable movies.
He's had the occasional stinker (The Mummy, Lions for Lambs), but generally, he's pretty awesome. Especially when you stop and realize that Top Gun (one of his most iconic roles) is probably one of his worst movies.
Edge of Tomorrow was indeed fantastic, as was Oblivion.
Oblivion.
Agree, not sure why it's rated so poorly by critics.
I really liked Oblivion. For some reason half the time I bring it up people say, "Oh, that movie with Will Smith and his kid? that movie was horrible." and I have to tell them, "What? No Will Smith isn't it it, it's got Tom Cruise, totally different movie."
I have no idea what so many people I've talked to mix those two movies up when I talk to them. I think they came out about the same time maybe.
They did come out close together and looked similar in story and setting from the trailers anyway
My guess would be the ending. I thought it was a super solid movie up until the smoking cigar explosion bit.
Considering how technologically advanced the aliens were, they should have known that wasn't the girl in the pod.
Because critics are just people that get paid to spout their opinions, which most people's opinions in general are dumb.
It also has fantastic production quality. It's one of the best looking Blu-ray discs I own, and one of the few where the upgrade to UHD Blu-ray wasn't really much of an upgrade.
weak script buoyed by great acting and solid music score. it would have worked better as a twilight zone episode
The M83 score with a beautiful film to watch is what made the movie good to me.
which, netflix/youtube/amazon, if you're listening is a good idea. the number of actors that are a-ok with doing non-film roles and the minimal commitment of a one off episode would pay off splendidly
The plot would have been interesting in 1980 or even 1990.
These days people are expecting more than (what seems to be) a plot from the 1970s.
The SFX was good and fun, but there was nothing original in the plot and could have been one from the 1950s.
Heâs also proven to be a good serious actor too - Born on the4th of July was excellent. A Few Good Men was good. He has a reputation for being a great guy to work with - very professional, generous with his crew, not making wild demands, on time and delivering. So he believes and pushes a weird philosophy? Well thatâs just up to us to filter whatâs good and bad but as an actor I canât fault the guy. Iâve enjoyed his work.
Seriously. And as Hollywood actors go, I have to say, the guy knows how to run.
Like you watch a lot of actors run and they're really kinda lumbering.
But man, I want Tom Cruise on my softball team.
Yeah they made Tom hella run on the last MI
I personally could care less about actors' private life. People get all caught up in that shit and read magasines and like to blame that person and pin all the unpopular behavior and beliefs etc on that one person. Bunch of nonsense to me. Let me know if they are a good actor!
Tom Cruise has been probably the most consistent and consistently good actor throughout my lifetime. No matter what he's working on, he gets the job done (often to fantastic results). No wonder they keep calling him back to blockbuster roles.
Fallout was my favorite MI.. He doesn't seem to age, but if he does, he apparently gets better.
Mostly agree. Some of these people with multiple accusers of their illegal behavior has changed my mind about wanting to watch their movies in the future. But Cruise, I have little problem with his choice of religion. I think heâs a very good actor. His biggest problem is that heâs too good looking to be taken seriously. If he was uglier, heâd get a lot more credit as an actor, like Paul Newman or Brad Pitt.
Brad Pitt is ugly??!?
Well then I guess I'm just fucked.
I loved him in Collateral
Oh yeah, was my favorite movie for quite a while. He's a freaking powerhouse in Collateral.
wow, no mention of Magnolia? One of his greatest roles and his only academy award nomination I believe.
No. He's definitely been nominated more than once. Yeah, Magnolia, Jerry McGuire, and Born on the Fourth of July.
And Magnolia is the only one where he wasn't the Leading Role.
Either way, he has way too many good movies to name. I just went with my recent favorites of his.
You seem to have missed his best role -- in Tropic Thunder.
Wait, no one talking about Vanilla Sky?
His role in Tropic Thunder is one of the great comic performances of all time.
It seriously is. And probably one of the best running jokes in the film because it was so unexpected.
Such an amazing surprise cameo.
I saw TT several times before I realized who it was.
I recognized him after he started speaking. Blew my mind.
And I think I would correct myself to say it was the best surprise cameo ever. I dunno what could beat it.

Technically itâs possible: 75 years after the life of the holder.
More than possible--it'd be extremely likely. The photographer would've had to've died within 2 years of taking the photo for it to be out of copyright.

The absurdity of American copyright law.
Rights didnât exist 76 years ago

Why?
Rights are left.
Rights are gay.
American Airlines posted this to their twitter account a couple of years ago and said it came from the CR Smith Museum. They offered to send someone a jpg so it is probably copyright free but you could check with them to be safe: crsmithmuseum.org.
I couldn't find much more about the photo except that the cowboy is Irvin G. Wortman and the plane is a Douglas DC-7. American Airlines flew the DC-7 from 1953-1963 so the date in the posted title is not correct.
Edit: As /u/broll and /u/The_Grey_Side have found the photo was used in a Sinclair Oil ad. Google Books has scanned most of the old copies of LIFE magazine and you can see the ad on page 50 of the August 13, 1956 issue. The caption there is:
American Airlines DC-7 flagship takes off from Western Airport on routine flight. American chooses Sinclair Aircraft Oil to lubricate mighty engines.

Doubt
(X)
Trying to find a better quality photo, a quick google of this guy led me to a Montana cowboy hall-of-fame website. Apparently as a 77 year old man with two fake hips, he was still going hard. From the entry on Wortman:
"Irvin was a true horseman. In his later years, after he had both of his hips replacedâone twice, because he got horseback too soon...Irvin literally died horseback, when 77 years old. He rode off on a young horse, and the colt came home without him. It was obvious from the torn up ground where he was found, that some kind of altercation had taken place there, but since what happened was between Irv and the horse, and the horse wasnât talking, only God knows the details. He was a true cowboy, and he died with his boots on, doing what he loved mostâriding horses."
God damn, what a glorious death.
Nothing more glorious than an old man being stomped to death by a horse.
I bet he had an erection the entire time. I know I would.
They are hard to tell apart, but this might be a DC-4 (produced 1942-1947)
Did you mean DC-6? The windows on the DC-6/7 are square instead of the earlier porthole style of the DC-4. I thought the two windows close together just in front of the AA logo pretty much nailed it down as a DC-7 but it looks like at least some variants of the DC-6 had that configurations as well. American Airlines flew the DC-6 from 1947-1966 and I think only the DC-6B which wasn't built until 1951 had the correct window configuration, so even it was a DC-6 the date is still not correct.
I'm no expert, but I think the DC-4 has passenger windows that are much more circular. This arcraft's are much more square, such as on the DC-6 and DC-7.
I'm frequently amazed by the specialized knowledge people unexpectedly bring to these conversations.
Right? I suspect this guy might secretly be an actual expert. Undercover!
This series of planes ain't exactly obscure.
No, itâs a DC-6/7. The biggest giveaway is the side profile - the fin on the DC-4 is noticeably shorter than that on the DC-6/7, not to mention the window shape (as others have mentioned).
Thanks. I came looking to see if it was Chuck Yeager.
Thanks!

Thats a DC-4. They first flew in â42 so this may be a promotional shot.
[deleted]
A lot of companies advertised their contributions to the war effort. Just today I saw a Chevrolet ad about the engines in the Sherman's.
However, I do believe the DC-4 was a airliner, and although the DC-4 has a military version, this one doesn't have any military markings, in fact I think I can make out the American Airlines logo, but IDK.
C-54 Skymaster for the military version btw
Did that come after the C-47?
The AA markings are so anti-aircraft gunners know where to shoot
Yeah it seems to be a commercial airliner DC-4 for American Airlines. You can see the bottom half of the old 1940s AA blue eagle logo with dual As on each side. You can also see the word âAmericanâ on the tail and the last part of âAirlinesâ (âines) in front of the wing on the side panel.
I love how insane promos were for airlines back in the day.
The plane in the photo belongs to American Airlines.
"Look how dangerously low to the ground you can fly with this plane."
Is that the same thing as an Electra? It looks very similar
The Electra was a turboprop designed by Lockheed, it came much later than the radial-engined DC-4 (designed by Douglas). I know a guy who works for a company in Alberta that operates an Electra for forest fire suppression purposes, it has the same engines as the classic C-130 and it really shows when you see how manueverable it is for its size. Interestingly, the DC-4 is also used for fire suppression in some places.
Gotcha. I just started working as a structural aircraft engineer and see P-3s (American military derivative of the Electra) all over base that look very similar to this. I was unaware of the engine differences but it makes since since this was so early. Thanks for the information. Just trying to learn more of the history in my new field of work
Going to agree. The gear is already up, and while that's possible, it's not likely when the plane is like 25 feet off the ground.
missing the lever action rifle
A true American would use an AR15, I donât care that itâs from 1942 it needs an AR
I dunno man, not much says "fuck you, Imma cowboy" like a 45-70 government fired from a model 1873.

Needs a P-51 Mustang
It's '42 so there were a tiny amount of Mustangs around, and 0 of the iconic D series with the Merlin engine and bubble canopy.
Depending on when the pic was taken America might not even have had a single Mustang in the Army Air Corps.

Where can I get this to be hung up on my wall
As opposed to?
Maybe as opposed to a digital computer file for the purpose of a computer's desktop background image feature which can be used to personalize a computer that you might otherwise use for work, research, or pleasure, it occurs to me that the ability to purchase this kind of decor would be much more convenient than having to procure a digital copy which to hang on the wall necessitates either complex printing hardware to accommodate the large size needed to produce a single piece of a viable size to hang on a wall or it would require a floppy disc and a way to mount said floppy disc to a wall, but if you end up affixing the floppy disc to the wall then you've just got a floppy disc on a wall and you don't have a plane being chased by a cowboy riding a horse so you've kinda missed the point.
Just needs a cigarette

Red Dead Redemption V
The liitle black line that appears to be on top of the plane above the pilot's windows is actually the pilot's hand, which he stuck out of the pilot's side window to wave at the photographer, who was in a car when he took this photo. This photograph captures a cowboy mistakenly thinking the pilot was waving at him, and returning the wave. Moments after the photo was taken, the cowboy turned to see the photographer in the car waving at the pilot. Needless to say, he was incredibly embarrassed
Halfway through this I had to check that you werenât u/shittymorph

DC-4?
Nope, definitely a DC-6 or DC-7. The DC-4 had a bigger tail and circular windows.
1942 is too early for the DC-6 or 7.
Definitely.
Ok.
I'm pretty sure some snowflake will tell me why I should be ashamed of this picture, while they sip their overpriced Starbucks coffee.

Some of his comments he has made are pretty awful
His behavior is pretty typical for low status white males. Instead of taking responsibility for their own personal failures and frustrations, their world view is that their suffering has been caused by a self-perceived comination of systematic persecution against white males and preferential treatment of women and racial minorities. This is often combined with homophobia and transphobia.
This is the 'Ugg boots' of political outlooks
All of you are dumb. It's a cool photo. Stop using someone else's moment as a stepping stone to gangbang your values into people. Oh wait......internet. You're all pansies. Carry on.
It would have been better if the horse was a mustang, the plane was a P-51 Mustang, and somebody photoshopped in a 1965 Ford Mustang

Well the US was the first to have powered flight (Wright Brothers) and the US is well known for it's cowboy culture which isn't common around the world (maybe Argentina with it's Guacho culture). And they are/were known for a pioneering spirit, at least back in the 40s. So I'd say this at least encapsulates some of the better parts of what the world could think of the when they think US.
maybe Argentina with it's Guacho culture
Tiny^tiny^tiny^tiny spelling correction: it is spelled gaucho. Funny enough, guacho also exists and means either orphan/bastard/fatherless, brood or a slur for an evil person.
Source: I am Argentinian.
This must have caused a lot of fights when the cowboys got drunk.
what the 60s when we were walking on the moon isnt pioneering enough for ya? whats so pioneering about ww2 and the postwar years
Well - no horses in the americas before 1492 though.
Downvoted for facts lol
Well duh, but no American nation today exists the way it did before Columbus. Even majority native countries like Bolivia and Peru are Spanish speaking, catholic nowadays. None of that was there pre 1492 obviously, but it's a part of their culture now.
Which is irrelevant.
Horses originated in North America. They went extinct a few thousand years before the Spanish re-introduced them.
Nice - got me. Didnât know that
And that good ol american slavery. Can't have a successful america without it.
[deleted]
It's factual, but irrelevant. Name a modern country that doesn't have a shitty past.
I'd like to counter your thing by saying this. America's history is still rather fresh (in the history of countries being fresh). It was the 17-1800's where this shit went down in America. It's not a "ah well every country has it", it's a "well shit we're getting pretty advanced and we're still treating people of another colour like they're subhuman"
...it went down around a similar time for the vast majority of countries too though. The UK/Portugal/Netherlands arguably have the largest role in slavery because of the triangle trade.
And I'm brown in the USA and I don't think we're treated as subhuman.
You're irrelevant.
[deleted]
No, you're just posting irrelevant shit.
[deleted]
There's a time and a place. When celebrating any British holiday do I need to stop and mourn the triangle trade and colonialism? Must Swedes always remember the massacre of Finns? Must every Italian remember fascism at every celebration?
The discussion was about things that are quintessentially American. No need to bring up what you brought up as it's far from quintessential american.
[deleted]
huh? Italy and Costa Rica just pop'd into my head. Buuut, it really looks like a North American cowboy!
Italian...cowboys? Costa Rican cowboys??
I belie e the bugle suggested the most ameeican thing is eating apple pie while hitting baseball's off the side of an aircraft carrier while a squad of cheerleaders ride by on jet skis firing off t-shirt cannons to the tune of the star bangled banner

I'm sure it won't be a mess of hypocritical hatred.

School shootings
[deleted]
Pretty certain there are than 1737261 comments on reddit about School Shootings being American mate. Instead of complaining maybe you should change it?
You donât seem to understand exaggeration. Iâm complaining about how unoriginal and circlejerky these kinds of comments are. Saying something like that doesnât do anything to change it either, so I donât see your point.
[deleted]
[deleted]
But I haven't even said that at all, so why do you idiotically assume that I say that? Amazing how hurt your feelings are by this, which is probably why people repeat it, you're a vending machine for butthurt. I can't even solve the problem; I'm not even American or live in the US.
Of course, you donât even live here but feel justified to shit on our gun problems without any understanding of how it works. Typical. Iâm not butthurt, im amazed at how someone like you can complain about something you donât even understand.
But I'm not shitting on your gun problems in this thread. You are butthurt, you are seeing things that aren't happening.
I get annoyed that you seem to infer the only thing more American than OPâs post is school shootings. Remind me again, what the point of your comment again?
Yeah, you're getting annoyed at things that don't exist, to the point where you're pretending you can read my mind. If you still can't find the point of my comments, then look around your rectum, where it seems to hurt a lot.
Ha! Good one, you seem to have an thing for butts. Kinda strange but I donât judge. Since you canât tell me the intention of your comment, Iâm gonna assume the worst of you and say youâre just a racist.
But I did tell you the intention of my comment very clearly, try again. I'm gonna call the evidence as it is: you get seriously butthurt about people pointing out gun violence in America and you have trouble reading.
Thatâs not even remotely close to what I was asking about. Oh well, I can only expect so much from foreigners.
But that's what you literally asked about. Just a shame that these foreigners don't have telepathy, unlike you.
Please stop being delusional.
This conversation has reached max redundancy. I have no idea what youâre talking about, you have no idea what Iâm talking about. I donât want to let you have the last comment, what are we going to do now?
Well first of all youâve been replying to the wrong person, so ok, cool. But looking at the situation there are several things more American than this photo. School shootings is definitely one. Another is cops killing innocent black people. Another is funding dictators in South America. Training terrorists then getting butthurt when they fight you. Funding terrorists of your allies. Losing wars where you outgun the enemy. Not sticking with diplomatic decisions. Electing a meme as a president. Slavery. Franchised sports where the franchise can move their city. Wishing death on athletes who donât stand for your national anthem. Indoctrination of your youth through forcing them to stand for the pledge of allegiance but then poking fun of other countries who are patriotic. Using the imperial measurement system when the rest of world uses metric.. The list does go on and on.
Oh I was replying to the wrong person this whole time! That make so much sense now actually! Thanks for pointing that out.
I donât agree with most of what youâve said in this thread by itâs been too long to hold a grudge and Iâll just take it at face value. Have a good day.
Yeah you too pal, I canât remember at all! Take care mate
I can think of something uniquely American but it's not exactly a positive
Am a Brit, it really depends on the timeline. In the 21st Century, it's really fast food chains, lotsa terrorism, some fun politics, and your TV shows are really over the top, also religious extremism (mainly just the Jesus side of things, just saying). Although anything before that and for me it doesn't get any more American than "Yee haw ride em cowboi". And I'm being serious.
[deleted]
Which is what I mean when I said "am a Brit". This sub is filled with patriots that completely deny that America's history is a shithole mostly whereas the people saying "MUHRICA" get like 50 upvotes. And I've never been to America btw, don't really intend to either
Yep, you sound super open minded.
Iâve traveled all over the world, and currently live in Asia. Most people throughout the world are really nice and itâs been amazing to see so many different cultures. Itâs also made me appreciate mine, and has made me realize how fortunate I was to be born and raised in the US.
Oh, btw Iâm currently living in a former British colony. You guys did some pretty fucked up shit throughout history, so be careful in that glass house of yours.
England is one of the more well known nations that have a weird history. But feminism was a problem in this country in the 17-1800's, not treating people of another colour like shit. And idk what kinda flex you're trying to pull with that Asia fact, really doesn't mean anything, coz you get good places in America too. I'm Asian myself and have been to India a few times. Doesn't change that I almost died or got stabbed or anything. Different experiences and perspectives
From an ad for Sinclair motor oil: www.magazinesadsandbooks.com/Magazine-Ad-For-Sinclair-Extra-Duty-Triplex-X-Motor-Oil-American-Airlines-DC-7-Plane-1956-P3029478.aspx
Nothing more Texan than this fym
As a Texan, I can confirm this is what a Texas airport looks like.
Iâm curious: are there other places geographically similar to the Great Plains/âWild Westâ area of the US? That backdrop in and of itself seems American to me
Depends on where you are talking about. I live in the American West in a high desert that borders alpine mountains. The plains, from what Iâve heard, are the biggest in the world.
I would say that the rock formations around southwestern US are probably pretty distinct from much else. Could be wrong.
I want this picture.
More American than a school shooting?
Needs a nuke going off in the background and an eagle flying next to the plane.
Goodbye, GTA Online ... Hello, Red Dead Redemption 2 Online.
That's no Trump
If it we're a p51 or a b17 then it'd be so American it would smell of gun power and apple pie
Man, the 3rd season of Westworld looks great
horses aren't american. Dude should be riding a buffalo or even a jaguar
I came here expecting a top comment to be how horses were brought to America after already being in Asia and Europe. But nope, weâre chillin down here for now.
2/10 needs more American flags.
Take my love, take my land,
Take me where I cannot stand.
I don't care, I'm still free,
You can't take the sky from me.
Is there a high res version? Going to get this printed on a canvas.
Damn, I love this. And I'd love to have a big poster of it.
.
Rdr2 dlc already?
Jack Marston waving goodbye to his son
It's the Marlboro man!
A changing of eras
What a legend
Wheres his budlight at?
I can't get over how cool this photograph is.
Insert obligatory "where is the bald eagle?" comment
I hope itâs John Wayne in that horse.
need some casinos in the background and an american eagle perched on the cowboys hat.
Wow - I immediately latched on to a "Sky King" episode mash up with "Hop-Along Cassidy." Someone convince me I'm wrong . . . heheh.
All it needs is a couple of eagles, teddy roosevelt, guns, and fire works
That horse is like, "If I can't see it, it isn't there. Don't look back, don't look back, don't look back..."
Congrats for reaching r/all/top/ (of the day, top 25) with your post!
^I ^am ^a ^bot, ^probably ^quite ^annoying, ^I ^mean ^no ^harm ^though
^Message ^me ^to ^add ^your ^account ^or ^subreddit ^to ^my ^blacklist
"Hey, let's race!"
I kind of feel like an American flag and him giving the finger would have been slightly more American. But this is a close second.
Where you at /u/ColorizeBot?
if it was a P-51
Except maybe a school shooting that's pretty American
[deleted]
Not like us
[deleted]
Yep, thereâs always that one comment.
Two obsolete modes of transportation.. I'd tend to agree that it's very american
Yes there is
Obesity
Mexico is winning that fight.
Yeah there are more obese people in Mexico, but American obesity is WAY BIGGER
[deleted]
An obese American is fatter than an obese Mexican, in proportion.
[deleted]
Gonna have to look into that, I've never seen one even close to it
Or being the only country to have nuked cities.
[deleted]
Sure whatever you need to hear. Those were cities full of civilians who had zero say in the surrendering question. If you bothered to put the kfc down for a minute and do some research you would know there were many alternatives like military targets. Also everyone knows the second one was onky about testing a different type of bomb.
Slaughtering indigenous people as well đ
[deleted]
Not my beautiful little country :)
However this post isn't about Canada and most of Europe is it ?
[deleted]
Ireland is nowhere on the same par as America as far as that sort of anything thing goes dude
[deleted]
War mongering more than anything I would say
[deleted]
Very little is unique to a nation I'm merely stating America is fairly bad when it comes to certain things, the British empire was dreadful as well along with Genghis Khan and the countless others
Well, to be fair, Ireland hasnât done much of anything ever except be stuck under a British thumb.
We defeated the British empire in 1916 after 800 years of hasstle from the crown
We built New York City amongst many others
We never invaded another country
We are a small country loved around the world
The United States of America is a joke around the world :)
Smiley at the end? I didnât know I was talking to a four year old, oh well. So much for intelligent conversation. They seem to be lacking that in Ireland anyway, I canât name a single person from there besides Conan OâBrien.
Defeated the British in 1916
The Easter Rising was a failure, keep telling yourself that.
We built New York City
Actually that was the Dutch, hence why it used to be called New Amsterdam
We never invaded another country
You also turned a blind eye to nazi war crimes during WW2 and refused to declare war. Maybe call it spineless?
We are a small country loved around the world
Not if Northern Ireland has anything to say about it mate.
The United States is a joke around the world
The US dollar is the largest reserve currency in the world and has the highest nominal GDP of any nation. This is just cringe.
Or vietnamese for that matter. We could go all night.
my viet kieu family would strongly disagree with that statement
Well then you should see to get them informed about the war. For example, most don't know that the US was the first to attack sout vietnam.
The list goes on my friend
Needs more guns.
murika fuck yeah
Wb the maccies logo?
Aren't Cowboys just glorified Andalusian riders ?
They come from Mexican Vaqueiros, which I assume came from Spain too
But really, theyd develop independently regardless of Spanish influence or not. As soon as someone figures out they can make money with cattle in the region, you'll need the guys who herd cattle to appear.
Yeah, the clothing music and other traditions adapted to the local materials all across America, from Gauchos in Patagonia, Vaqueros in central America to cowboys in North-America.
I just find awkward to say cowboys are the most American thing. It's like saying that Pizza is the most American thing completely ignoring the fact that its was actually a Naples thing way before it was even heard of in America.
But modern pizza has tomato sauce in it and there weren't even tomatoes in Europe
What is known as "pizza" throughout the world today is an American invention
I can't find anything to support your statement. Instead I find a rather big amount of sources proving you wrong. Would you mind sharing your sources?
No it isn't. Pizza existed in Naples at the start of the 19th century and was first seen in the states at the end of the 19th century over 80 years later. It's an Italian invention in every single way.
"Pizza" has existed for thousands of years
But it didn't have tomato sauce until tomatoes were brought back form the Americas, and modern "pizza" that you find all around the world is specifically "New York style" pizza because it was invented in New York
It didn't have tomato until they came from America but not a single American was putting tomato on their pizza until the Italians had been doing it for 80 years. One ingredient being brought back from the Americas by Europeans and added to an already existing European dish by other Europeans after all the original ones died out in no way makes it an American invention. For that, at least one American would have to have been involved at any stage.
I'll keep this simpler
New York style pizza is what is what people around the world know as pizza
[deleted]
Spanish think they started riding horses and herding cattle, but eurasian proto indo european steppe people were doing it WAY before.
Eurasian proto indo European steppe people think they were the first but I'm pretty sure there is evidence a monkey rode a horse once 1 million years ago in Africa
Iâm American and I live in the West, ride horses, shoot guns, etc. No one thinks we did it first. No one cares, either, except for the rest of the world who watch movies about American cowboys and not people who brought horses to the new world.
Burgers and school shootings are more American than that
Needs some fat French fries and coke
Well, he could've at least shot a gun instead of waving friendly.
Hell yeah!
I thought the small black thing on the top of the cockpit was the pilot waving back
Holy shit.
Dude, where can I get a horse that fast? He must have like 1,000 horsepower!
Fantastic photo
Reminds me of âThe Right Stuffâ.
[deleted]
Slap a Budweiser logo on the plane and a pistol in that guys hand. Fuckin murica right there.
"One Last Score before we are finally free and leave this place for the beaches of Tahiti" -Dutch Van der linde
Red dead 2 has amazing graphics.
What about shooting a hamburger off the hood of a Camaro with an AR15?
My great-grandparents moved down to Phoenix way back in the late 40s because of my great grandfather's health. My grandmother said on her first visit that when they flew into the main airport then they deplaned and walked into the radio shack where the passengers went to pick up baggage and the guy running the airport had his horse tied out back and his feet sticking out from behind the desk and propped on another chair, in boots and spurs.
Strap some bombs and some freedom on the bottom of that plane for max merica
That's clearly 1742, just look at the cowboy.
Wouldn't an eagle shooting a machine gun with each wing drinkng crude oil from a big gulp be slightly more American?
Needs more cheeseburgers and guns
It's like that scene in Toy Story 2, but without Buzz Lightyear!
Lies. If this is so American where are the cheeseburgers?
So the horse is faster?
Horses, Carriages, Trains, Planes, Automobiles and Zeppelins all coexisted for a very brief time in history, and we'll never see them all in simultaneous usage again.
Zeppelins are the most awesome currently impractical technology to ever have existed.
Wait, where the smoke show chick? I thought I was in r/oldschoolcool
More iconic duo? Iraq and oil.
Does this photo have a name by any chance. Iâd love to try to find a poster of it if possible
Wow RDR2 looks awesome
I mean...except for human. Just look at that horse sriding alien's proportions! I swear his left arm is extendable.
My cat Krandle is pretty cool
I donât know their Dutch might want to let me look into it first
Definitely not 1942 since the DC-6 didn't fly until 1946.
Cowboys vs Aliens
Douglas DC-6. Cool picture.
I'd say a big mack is way more american
'Murica!
Red Dead Redemption 3
You're giving the folks over at RDR2 heart palpatations.
Rdr2 online looks amazing
That is just not true !
What isn't true?
Well there is just shy of 130 million people in Mexico yet the statistics show that there are over 160 million people with obesity in the United States
Mexico may have a half or even less the population America does so by the statistics it is true however
America has more obese children and roughly 30 million more people than Mexico does living with obesity
Who gives a shit about anything other than per capita statistics?
Trolls like me my dude
Is the rider raising his right arm or left?
Native Americans will always be the real American vibe
Clearly OP hasnât read Brave Cowboy.
That was my desktop background for a very long time.
There is nothing wrong with America that can't be fixed by what is right with America.
You put a double cheeseburger in his hand and make it in color and I'll love it more
This isnât Old School Cool! I see not one single fuckable grandmother, not ONE SIR!
There's always the horse, It might be a grandmother.
A plane and a farmer.
r/FakeAlbumCovers
You've never had tacos?
Where's the bald eagle and the oil drill?
Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?
Is that an Indian flag on the tail of the plane?
Anybody have a high res version of this?
Trying to raise your honour be like
You should post this on r/photoshopbattles and see if they can make this even more american
" Highway to the danger zone
I'll take you
Ridin' into the danger zone "
It's Dutch telling you he had a plan.
It was buying a plane.
Reminds me of a scene from the classic film, Giant, with Rock Hudson, Liz Taylor and James Dean.
The horse shits apple pie.
How do I download this RDR2 mod?
Civilization: when you don't upgrade old units
Fuck yeah!
Gives me an American Boner just looking at it.
Why did I first think this was one of Eminemâs Kamikaze pictures again?
r/fakealbumcovers ??
Someone edit this with a spaceship launching in the background
RIP Arthur Morgan
Photographed from a model T ford
wish there was a picture of this including the photographer as well
I dunno, r/photoshopbattles could probably suss something out.
I got one better, "one meal with a large coke please".
Now we just need an eagle in the background
The only way it would be more American is if the pilot was in crippling debt and the cowboy was losing his farm.
This looks like the beginning of an Indiana chase scene
Awesome
Who photoshopped that cowboy on Eminem's Kamikaze album!?!? Haha amazing find from history!
Well, horses are not very American..
Much better than "here's my sexy mother" x50
Yeah because in Central and South America, Australia, etc., there are no planes or horses or cowboys. So "American."
All he is missing is a gun that he fires into the air while yelling, âMerica fuck yeah!â
In 1942 Columbus sailed the ocean blue to fetch a pile of water. You're welcome. đ
All you need is a chopper and itâs a David Mann painting
Looks like a Malboro comercial.
Red Dead Auto
Now just photoshop a gun in there. That's America!
But you just KNOW that both the pilot and that horse rider probably hated black people.
Nor did Americans domesticated horses nor did they invent the plane. True. Nothing more American than this picture.
Except for extreme poverty and extreme wealth.
Neither industry has been like that for 80 years.
When your playing red dead redemption but you also wanna play battlefield V
There isnât even a cheeseburger in the picture
I donât see a native in there.,
It could have been a cowboy on a mustang while a mustang flies over head and a mustang follows behind said cowboy.
This is acceptable too
RDR San Andreas
Needs more fat people and a school shooting in the background.
Fuck yeah Merica, gitâr done!
9/10 should've photoshopped an Eagle flying in the background
Great pic. It makes me think of airlines trying to seem more friendly, of people accepting airlines as a thing of the present rather than shunning them as a thing of the future. Probably a huge marketing hump to get over right there
So rockstar finally made a Red Dead/GTA crossover?
What about an American shit hawk eating a Big Mac?
More like nothing more Mongolian they had better horses.
Looks very like the Eminem cover album for Kamikaze
I dunno the dude who rides the nuke in Dr.Strangelove: or How I Learn to Stop Worrying and Love the bomb, gives it a run for its money. Though they were probably inspired by this masterpiece. I mean that's clearly the natural evolution of this piece.
Red Dead Redemption battle royal
Where's the gun?
This must be like one of the top photos ever taken pre 1950's
Things havenât been the same since Rockstar decided to do a Red Dead Redemption/GTA crossover.
Is this back when America was great?
A p51 would be more better
You mean in the sense that half the country is trying to progress into the future while the other half insists that the old way is just fine the way it is?
Analogue cameras are so cool. No stabilization, no motion sensors, gyros, or post-capture editing, yet they could take an image as crisp and sharp as this with 1) moving aeroplane, 2) moving horse & rider, and 3) moving ground setting. Even the dust kicked up by the horse looks perfectly still. Incredible. They must have had impressively high shutter speed on that thing with very sensitive film.
Just need obama and and a bald eagle driving in a bright yellow mustang gt shooting a AR15
Cowboys vs Planes
How bout paying $50,000 to get your tonsils out?
Is that Con Air??
Hi Ho Silver ( plane) & away..!!!
For maximum American there needs to be a gun of some form
This picture is amazing, I'd love to see it colorized.
Reminds me of that scene in The Neverending Story when the kid is riding Falkor and they pass by Atrayu
Iâd like to find a high-resolution version of this and make it a print for my living room.
Long shot that they respond but check with American Airlines
Where is the burger King???
I scrolled through this thread and canât see a link to a print of this. Anyone help?
I can't wait to repost this with the title "My grandpa in WW1"
I think its missing 2 towers
I can think of quite a few things that could sum up America quite a bit more than this. Like a fat redneck shooting guns on his atv waving a flag for instance.
No hawk. Not american enough.
R/photoshopbattles come on up and make the guy ride a hawk.
I fucked the link up on phone. GG
INDY!
Pft no gun or eagle can be more American.
SQUARE WINDOWS AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'd say the most american image nowadays would be a morbidly obese person in on of these walmarkt scooters.
[deleted]
Walmarkt scooters however are pretty stereotypical.
Burgers
Elvis
Those electric wheelchair things in walmart
Reminds me of Indiana Jones
False. Cowboy could be holding a hamburger and an AR-15 while an eagle screams overhead.
But I thought nothing was more American than Snoop Dogg?
I see your so-called "Nothing more American than this (1942)" and I raise you a cheeseburger and a gun. Nothing more American than that.
How is that horse not startled !?
You're missing the model with a hamburger in one hand and an AR-15 in the other on top of an aircraft carrier
why are there arms coming out of the ground behind the horse
[deleted]
I want a picture with a Mustang GT, Mustang (plane), and a mustang horse
Yes there is. Someone photoshop a McDonaldâs hamburger and a bacon gun on this guy
Really cool what a bunch of German immigrants can do for you.
Wrong: school shootings
And don't be all hurt now.
Stunning
Idk man eating a Baconator off the barrel of an AR-15 with a screaming bald eagle flying overhead sounds pretty damn American
Last I heard an exercised horse hit 44mph
He didn't have a chance at the beginning because of the sprint
He crossed the finish line 1st IIRC
This may be the greatest photo ever captured.
Love how Americans (and natives of most other countries I'm sure) see themselves compared to how the rest of the world sees them.
I feel like this is how Japan sees America
No guns? WTF?
/s
Maybe if that cowboy was eating a cheeseburger
The horse won this race because he was slow and steady. The airplane rushed ahead and fell asleep.
If he was holding a flag and an eagle was flying by this would be it
I'd like to see a nature film where an eagle swoops down and pulls a fish out of a lake, and then maybe he's flying along, low to the ground, and the fish pulls a worm out of the ground. Now that's a documentary.
I'd love to see this remade with a modern twist. Maybe a Harley and a Gulfstream G650.
Ha ha now the Australians are gonna try. You watch chariots drawn by T-rexs and crocks flying jets.
What about a rock, flag, and an eagle?
Sauce?
Forgive me if this is obvious but Iâm on mobile and itâs hard to see but please tell me thatâs the pilot waving at the horseman and not some sort of antenna or something.
Makes me think of civ 6
MURRICA
A real Mustang
This makes me want to play Warthunder and RDR at the same time.
Is there a title to this picture? I need it in high res for background purposes
Isnât this the climax of the first Toy Story?
Isn't this a scene from the movie 'Giant'? Or something similar?
RDR2 looks so real
Itâs pretty cool that planes used to fly so slowly that a horse could pass it like that.
What settings did you use?
Should be a guy riding a macdonalds whilst shooting an M16 and looking up at an obese eagle
Add someone on a jet ski firing a T-shirt cannon and youâve hit peak âMurica
What about bombing Middle Eastern kids?
A Texas Double Bacon Cheese Burger might be..
These types of races were more common back then. Airplanes (or "sky busses" as they were called at the time) were barely able to keep up with horses. It was only until jet engines were discovered that these races were deemed unfair.
I see a squirrel.
neither do i see guns nor obesity; oh and also theres no visible degeneration in this picture.
Whereâs his cheeseburger?
But heâs not shooting at any Indians or drinking bourbon =|
i don't see any burguer or war in this pic
What level of RDR2 do you get a plane?
Musta been a snake in his boot
It's crazy the difference in plane design compared to car design advancement, planes haven't changed from the out side much compared to land vehicles
Because they're designed to fly, not look cool. Can't have planes that look cool because they either won't fly, or won't hold enough passengers. Plus, the cost of making a plane is already extremely high, so redesigning them all the time will end up making them 10 times more expensive.
The design is meant for them to hold as many passengers as possible while also being able to fly efficiently and reliably.
Agreed, I knew that much. Was just interested mainly in how he core design of air planes still remains intact shows how solid it is. Also land vehicle design isn't just because of style. Aerodynamics are also incorporated as well, to produce less drag and for fuel milage, but the advancement of engine design plays a big part as well for automobiles.
I would love to get a print of this. Anybody have an idea where I can get one?
It's high noon Mr. Plane.
I bet he doesn't like snakes
Very nice pic
More American than this, You meant...
*adds photoshopped version with bombs dropping from the airplane*
I hear the words Enola Gay everytime i see a plane like that
Looks like a cigarette commercial.
Reagan's wet dream, yet I admit, this is a bit cool.
There goes the first test run of the enola gay
Cue America fuhk yeahhh
Last image of McWatt and Kid Sampson
Nothing?
School shootings are more america these days

horses aren't even native to the americas
[deleted]
TIL, TIL
Thatâs a Russian plane and a Mexican riding the horse
I fucking love this
[deleted]
Nope
Best. Thing. On. Here.
I don't see any AR 15's on this picture.
It could get more American I think. Unless the horse was fed on the bodies of people who died from running out of money to fund their medical treatments, and the plane is heading off to bomb somewhere for oil.
wierd flex but ok.
Downvote because imperialismo
Needs more racism
I do not see the US fucking over its citizens or another country in this picture. So this picture is clearly not as American as it could get.
LMAO low effort. Take my downvote.
Ayyyyy we found the edgelord! Just a friendly reminder that you are absolutely inconsequential and there is a 90% chance that you will literally never accomplish ANYTHING even remotely useful in your life. Cheers!!
[deleted]
Lol entry level leftist thinking as if leftists are the only ones who can see the truth behind this
As if they think much deeper beyond entry level*** ftfy
Yep, go forth and save the world, white knight!!!
Uhhh wut? You donât even know this person...
You don't t have to know someone to judge their brainpower off of their reddit comment
I mean they arenât completely wrong even though its a bit hostile and unrelated to the picture. The USA does have a history of doing that, but so does just about any other country in the world.
Isnât that universal though? Like, every country does that. If anything, the UK was probably the best at it when this picture was taken. Itâs just a bit like saying whatâs more American than eating bread!
Ding ding ding. We have a winner.
I was about to say the same thing. Show me bombing victims and homeless tent cities. That's America!
Do you live in the West? You are absolutely just as guilty.
Edit: lmfao you post in /r/Catholicism. You must condone the systemic sexual abuse of children.
[deleted]
As history has proven, one group's "stolen" is another group's "conquered."
No kidding. I've got an MA in history. Obascure histories exist, but the grand narrative is always controlled by the victor.
/r/iamverysmart
overcome and take control of (a place or people) by use of military force.
We acquired the land by the very definition of conquer
"the grand narrative is always controlled by the victor." Does it count as plagiarism if I go ahead and tell you I'm stealing this?
America was way too Native American. They should have been happy about all the diversity. Diversity is our strength after all.
Stolen from the dinosaurs
#herefirst
Cowboy would be in jail today facing federal charges. That land most likely has a fence on it at the present time.
And he probably has a gun on his hip. Wow, he is in a buttload of trouble.
You mean a Big Iron
Big Iron on his hiiiiiiip....
I see you are a man of culture as well
Apart from attacking other countries.
Because other countries donât do that.
You must be fun at parties.
Yeah cause only the States has planes and horses???
Nothing more American than that... except killing millions of innocent people in wars over re-election bids and the âthreatâ of communism or terrorism.
Oh I almost forgot, the genocide of millions of native people living here.
Or how about the practice of eugenics and forced sterilization?
The subjugation, exploitation, and enslavement of entire races for generations?
The falsification of information to garner support for all the listed crimes against humanity?
Or what about greed? Is there anything more American than greed?
The UK shamefully shares that crown too. As do the French and Russians.
Add some slaves and dead native Americans, and some horrible war crimes
[deleted]
The mass enslavement, rape, torture, and continued abuse of black and brown people's thats what u meant.
...have you never heard of African/Indian colonialism?
May I suggest you look up the history of Arabs and Egyptians...and Asia
When you see an underdeveloped and fledgling native civilization
E U R O P E I S C O M I N G
What does that have to do with American history? I don't care about the Arabs and Egyptians, that slavery was thousands of years ago. This was literally 200+ years ago, also it's still going in with those imprisoned in the United States.
I care
So you care about black American slaves but donât give a shit about African slaves, Hebrew slaves, or Asian slaves? Hmm I sense virtue signaling
How about a badly dressed obese man, bragging that he doesn't own a passport?
Tacos
No dead brown people so not quite
Maybe add a school shooting?
[deleted]
The amount you have is very very unique. No other country has more than one a week. Also most mass shootings.
Well done. :)
[deleted]
Yes mass shootings means more than 2 people. And America has more mass shootings than anywhere else. Especially in schools which is beyond fucked up.
[deleted]
Lol. Denial is strong with you.
Sure there is... Eating McDonald's and screaming racist comments at non white people... Its the new new.
MAGA!!!
As opposed to everyone else who is totally not racist
Like the Australians, who say "fuck off we're full" and place illegal immigrants in prison islands like Nauru. Or the enlightened French, who got a LePen/Front Nationale to the second round of their elections twice now, or the Hungarians whose government is literally freaking out about a rich Jewish man forcing political correctness upon them.
Your right that makes it totally ok!!! More racism!!
[deleted]
Yeah it's universal Americans are just stupid as fuck.. and that's pretty universal too.
[deleted]
It is to the guy you responded to, apparently.
What the other guy said. The point is, racism is not uniquely American at all.
You were the only person to bring race into a picture of an airplane and a guy riding a horse.
Congrats.
Thank you Merica!
On our way to spread capitalism
[deleted]
It could only get more American if it bombed children in a school near an oil country under the delusions of providing for the common people while only an elite profited.
[deleted]
Whoa man super funny you come up with that zinger all on your own?
[deleted]
You should really look into copywriting it. Every post with America in the title is filled will uncreative people stealing your work word to word. I wouldn't want your genius work overused, after the millionth comment you might not get the uproarious laughter you expect from original comment such as this.
maybe the guy riding the horse with a mcD burger in hand would have been more american
This should not be downvoted itâs funny. Or maybe he should be head down texting and riding
I think i offended people.
Ho let fuck, are you kidding me? Is this real?
So that means to get this kind this kind of shot in the wild there was a THIRD moving car of some kind FULLY SUPPORTING a 1942 camera setup
That or they had the horse and plane make a pass by a stationery photographer until he got the shot right
Either way amazing photo amazing premise Papa Johns
[deleted]
It doesn't have to keep up with it
Horse is goin along at 20km on a 1000m track
Plane comes in at 160km once the horse is 200m down the track
They meet at the 500m mark and that's where the pic is taken
Don't check the math on that, but you know something like that
I can think many things more american than this.
School shooting
Invasion of various countries
Bombing of various countries
Stealing resources of various countries
Overthrowing democratically elected governments of various countries
Create like, 90% of the world terrorist groups that they now can't control.
Killing the environment
Killing the internet
I can write like a 1000 more things more american than this picture but you get my point
You seem like the life of the party.
School shootings aren't exclusive to the us.
Every nation on earth for the last 5000 years have been invading other countries.
Bombing other countries is done by pretty much everyone in the UN.
Not sure what resources we're stealing from other countries, but ok... I know china does it, but not sure what we steal.
Overthrowing governments has been a thing for thousands of years, russia is probably better at it than us.
Again, russia contributes to terrorist groups as much as the US does, so I wouldn't really claim that as American either.
Many countries are MUCH worse on the environment than the US
Most countries have been destroying the internet for their country since day one... kinda hard to claim that as American when you need a south korean social security number just to use their internet or websites(yes, SOUTH korea, not north).
Every government on this planet sucks ass. Get used to it, because change is slow, and it's not always good change.
But there's no torture or plundering.
Where do you think the cowboy is going?
Hahaha good point!
The planes shadow does not look consistent with the other shadows.
Sin sombrero no hay vaquero!
Whereâs the bald eagle and blatant racism
[deleted]
Wasnât claiming that
Except that horses are not native to North America, since they died out in the ice age.
Well no shit, airplanes arent exactly a natural creation either and 90% of the Americas speak European languages these days, but after 5 centuries it's safe to say that these things are here to stay.
I can certainly think of something more American
How about school shootings?
Cool unique comment bro. Bet that took a long time to come up with.
Only thing more American is invading poor countries to exploit their resources for our corporate interests.
A colonizer riding an enslaved animal next to a transport ship for the rest of the cowboys to go colonize some more!!
Yep, nothinâ more merican than that!!
"enslaved animal". BOI name one country that's never used an animal for means of transport. Also I have 3 indoor kittens, am I enslaving them by not giving them the freedom of living outside?
[deleted]
Not racist enough
Probably true in 1942, in 2018? Not so much.
I hope the horse got machine gunned in the dick
The longer I look at this image the more ridiculous it becomes. Why on earth would this happen?
ever consider it was staged?
Thats a DC-4. They first flew in â42 so this may be a promotional shot.
Obviously it was staged...fuckin reddit
Great photo, cancerous title
i don't know i don't see a toxic political landscape and school shootings anywhere
A 400 pound inbred mass shooter killing everybody at a mcdonalds for getting his order wrong, who later wins a 10million dollar lawsuit for police breaking his ankle during the arrest, would be more american.
When did this happen? Show me the article.
"Would" is a key word here.
indicating the consequence of an imagined event or situation.
How would it be more american if the described actions are not performed by americans? Sounds more like something an obese america hating islamist would do.
How would it be more american if the described actions are not performed by americans?
Who the hell said it wouldnt be done by an american? That wonderful american reading comprehension shines again.
You sound like youre just looking for an argument. Im not going to play with you, sorry kid.
Blocked.
And that's how America wins the internet back from pathetic fools!
By blocking you? What? I think he's right on one thing here: the reading comprehension levels are absurdly low.
Runnning from an argument by blocking someone? Perfectly expected from some racist troll on the internet.
Americans think "american" is a race
American education system at work
blocked
Ha classic response of a racist! Thanks for that.
They should be shooting at each other, but yeah this is a solid 98%.
The plane dropping a bomb and an obese cowboy firing an assault gun?
Presume thereâs an apple pie shooting up a school in the background somewhere?
911

Please stay away from the edges

All thatâs missing from this photo is a morbidly obese ignoramus eating a burger while on the phone, walking next to his opioid addicted hobbling wife who canât get treatment for her shin splints because her health insurance doesnât cover surgeries to correct illnesses that occur after she was born.
Try harder. This isnât even remotely funny.
[deleted]
No problem!
Is it the cowboy hat that makes this American?
Could be Australian.
Australia never had a strong or even noticeable cowboy culture. The plane is also American.
It could
How about fat people in scootmobiles. That's the most American I can think of
Aeroplanes are ''American''? Wut? The cowboy I get, but Aeroplanes... Finding it hard to find the connection between the two.
Americans invented the aeroplane.
Wrong.
This is a fact, you cannot argue with fact.
Who do you think did?
Nah, you're thinking of school shootings. Those are American as fuck.
Oh look, another school shooting comment.... how original.
Oh look, another school shooting ~~comment~~.... how original.
FIFY
2/10 execution, you can do better.
Thanks for believing in me!
Great, more white representations of America /s
I agree. in 1942. Sooooowtf is the point?
in 1942
Are you not aware of the sub youâre on?
Yes. Nothing is useful until you can draw it into your arena. Old school cool, is cool today. This is weak imo. Not uncool, but not all that interesting given the vast themetic waves that are concentrated by websites like reddit in our pursuit of measureing ourselves.
That's not what the rest of the world thinks. All they see is a country half full of ignorant asshole ugly American voters running around, like the guy they elected as their President.
But please continue waving your flag yelling U S A U S A if it makes you feel better about yourselves as the rest of us roll our eyes at you.
Besides your own experience or anecdotal experience, what proof do you have of any of this?
You and I view America alot more differently.
What about alcoholism? Wife beating? Believing in the super natural? Television? Demonizing things like canabis? Needing to be the moral athority? Forcing your morals on others?
... I donât know, I can think of a hell of a lot more American things than a photo of a person on horseback in front of a passenger aircraft.
Those are all things very common all around the world.
But unabashedly American. You can obviously find them anywhere, but the same could probably be said about this photo. Maybe.
I donât think American cowboys and the beginning of commercial flight in a very American looking landscape is common around the world.
And on top of that, we definitely arenât defined by domestic abuse.
Sure we are, rape and domestic abuse (when the domicile is made up of a man and a woman anyway) are like part of our soul.
There are landscapes around the world that look exactly like this. There may not be as many cowboys, but most African countries, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi land, isreal, basically all of the Mid East, looks like this.
[deleted]
Thatâs what iâm saying....
Downvote me more! I can take it!!
[deleted]
Thatâs not an air force plane. Thatâs a passenger plane.
Military aircraft, with the exception of air force one, two etc and maybe some other countries aircraft dedicated to civilian transport, donât have passenger seating and windows.
[deleted]
I forgive you.
How about the plane dropping a ton of bombs on civillians, that would make it more American^TM
This title makes it sound like American culture is a good thing.
[deleted]
It seems like the title is making out American culture as if it is something good.
[deleted]
Ask the parents of Sandy Hook.
âBut muh mass shootingsâ come on, like that defines American culture. Try harder.
To every person who can't face the truth and blindly screams "MURICA", this guy right here is a prime example of the culture.
Did you see me blindly scream âmurica!â and deny that school shootings are a problem? No. Do you seem like someone who feels the need to shove your personal agenda down everyoneâs throat? Yeah. This guy right here is a classic example of hollow words folks.
To everyone outside your tiny bubble, gun culture does define American culture. Go MURICA!!
[deleted]
Let me be more direct. I hate you. I hate every single one of you.
[deleted]
Boom roasted
Except maybe gun violence and racism
[deleted]
Not the same extent... What other first world country has monthly school shootings?
[deleted]
Your right. Itâs prob more like weekly.
[deleted]
Already had more than one a week by May, and there have been many more since then.
Enjoy your country, hope you donât get shot. :)
The smile at the end really shows how much of an asshole you are. As if mass shootings are something to be happy about.
The smile is there because you can deny all you like... but very easy to find the stats showing how many school shootings /mass shootings occur in America.
I wasnât smiling at the actual fact that your country has serious gun issues.
Getting shot because you honked at someone going 5 under in the left lane?
[deleted]
Well, it's not a school shooting so...
[deleted]
I wish people would stop romanticizing oppression of animals. Humans are evolving towards recognizing the inalienable rights of other species.
Riding a horse is oppression? They love that shit. Putting them to work is no different than you being put to work.
I'm an animal lover, but you're delusional of you think riding a horse is oppression.
Animals used for testing and inhuman living conditions is a completely different story, but being ridden is not inhumane nor oppression.
You are speaking entirely from the perspective of the oppressor. Of course horse riders have invented their own mythology as to what horses think and feel. The fact remains that every horse needs to be âbrokenâ in order for them to be ridden, and this is done primarily through inflicting discomfort or withholding food.
So kinda like training humans to interact in society in a productive and useful manner? Damn I guess we should just pop out kids and let them grow up with zero discipline. I guess we should just allow people to go around taking whatever they want, because a wild horse will damn sure eat a vegetable garden when it comes across it.
And no, I've raised horses, and you can tell when an animal is truly feeling pure joy, and most horses are clearly happy when they're being ridden.
Don't debate me on this, I will make you look stupid.
So very much wrong with that first paragraph. You are truly living in a past that is receding in favor of a more ethical standpoint towards other species. Are you really saying there shouldnât be wild horses because-vegetable gardens lol? Wow you are fucking stupid lol.
I didn't say that at all... you want all horses to live in the wild, why not allow humans those same rights? Just let them roam around taking whatever they want.
No one is stopping you horse man- go fucking live in the wild, idiot. Obviously modern human civilization is beyond you.
Yes... laws are stopping people from doing what horses do.
You want horses to have human rights, but not the responsibility. No one is beating their horse. Most horses get excited when they see their owner. If horses didn't like being ridden, they wouldn't get happy. I used to have a horse that would literally escape her pasture and go down the road and heard cows for fun. Animals love to work, just like most humans.
Dogs will get depressed and gain weight or stop eating if they aren't being worked.
What's next? Alexa is an abused slave and we shouldn't force her to play our music and look things up for us?
I'm with you 100% that we need to stop mistreating animals for our gain, but you need to realize that not every interaction between humans and other animals is bad...
Should we punish those parasites that control ants and make them build their nests before eating their brain?(forgot their names, but it's a real thing). Should we punish flies for using other animals for a free meal? What about mosquitos that make us and other animals miserable or even kill us? Are they allowed in your perfect world?
Nature is full of animals that use other animals and animals that work together.
Just because you're smart enough to think about what is fair and what isn't doesn't make your opinion the law, mother nature decides that.
We're all animals, we've evolved to be able to use other animals to our advantage, but go into their world unprepared and they will take advantage of you, just like we take advantage of them.
You might want to study biology and research the interactions of different species before trying go on some save the animals rant complaining about people riding a horse.
It's ok for animals to kill and use other animals as long as it's not a human doing it.
At first i thought this was a joke. But then i went through your history and damn are you delusional.
My work is done. I got you to read through my history.

That's a civilian passenger plane....
That's a civilian passenger plane....
The US invented both powered flight and civilian passenger aviation, so your point is?
Quote the comment that I was responding to....
Sorry, I missed that you were replying to a deleted post, it looked in my feed like you were questioning the original post rather than a subsequently deleted post.
No worries :)
Clearly you havenât watched epic meal time lol
The Canadian food show?
If there were a native people underneath the plane being bombed, it would be the most American.
Used to be true. These days, seems like our dear leaders aren't exactly pioneers and innovators...gripping to the past is cool, tho, right?
[deleted]
[deleted]
Yep, one off to kill innocent native Americans and another off to kill any number of innocents in an exotic foreign land. Yay to America!

Yeah, pretty sure if you just let off and stand back up you can defuse and nothing happens. A cop will come up and say something but if you defuse with him heâll just say get outta here and you can ride off without a bounty. Youâll have that red circle on the map and cops will follow you out of it but once you leave the area they lay off, pretty cool detail given the âboys will be boysâ attitude of the time. They might try to arrest you if you stick around too long. At least that has happened to me sometimes, it may not always work out like that.
Hey, partner.
"SIR!"
ââSCUSE ME, FRIEND!â
