Shhhhhh, you wanna get sued?

D'oh! I didn't even notice I did that!

Pretend it was intentional, we won't tell anybody.

Ok, it was intentional.

What'd they do?

They put an extra N in Shining, which is what Simpson's did in a Halloween episode.

We forgot Grandpa at the gas station!

But don't be reading my mind between 4:00 and 5:00, that's Willie's Time.

I want to see the cut footage from Eyes Wide Shut. Kubrick always had final cut, that is, when he was alive. Knuckleheads edited the film AFTER he suddenly died after principal photography wrapped and editing was commencing. Where's the G.D. footage?

Good question. I would also love to see his outline for A.I. I know it included a concentration camp for robots instead of the gladiatorial combat we saw, but I can understand why Spielberg didn't want to do that so soon after Schindler's List.

his outline for A.I. I know it included a concentration camp for robots

Oh My God. That Is Brilliant.

The video game Detroit: Become Human does this to great effect.

At least to an effect. Idk about great.

Pretty positive he had basically finished editing the film when he died. Kubrick was also notorious for destroying deleted sections of film.

Yes, his longtime assistant Leon Vitali said that it was done and had been sent to Cruise and Kidman for final signoff. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't have made changes even after that. He cut the final scene from The Shining after it had premiered in theaters.

What was the original final scene in The Shining?

There was no cut footage. WB merely inserted hooded figures to obscure sexual acts in the orgy.

Stanley edited Eyes Wide Shut and died in sleep because he had the pressure of finishing the film off his back. He had literally shared VHS copies with Kidman and Cruise for approval.

The missing footage is a myth.

And there’s still concentration camp imagery in AI in the flesh fair. Spielberg was very faithful to the script/ treatments of AI and his ending actually was darker than Stanley’s who could never figure out how to end it.

And there’s still concentration camp imagery in AI

Thanks. I'll have to check that out.

I remember hearing at the time that pornographic scenes were trimmed and cgi characters inserted to block the audience’s view of certain acts in some of the elite sex party scenes. This editing being done by anyone other than Kubrick himself could’ve only happened over his dead body, and so it was.

Others claim that important content from the film depicting or implying pedophilia among the elites was also removed after his convenient death. There are remaining elements in the film which still allude to this.

They never stop talking about this subject over at the subreddit that shares his name, if you’re interested.

Eyes Wide Shut isn’t about sex abuse of children by elites. It does feature subplot of a minor being sexually trafficked (the costume store owner) And a violent sex cult.

The point of EWS is an examination of the sexual fantasies of this couple and the dangers of sex outside Monogamy.

EWS is about Bill going into an unconscious dreamlike version of NYC and exploring the dangers of infidelity and danger of sex.

The cult at the end of the film is the culmination of this and something we are only meant to feel the power, mystery and terror of.

Bill hears Alice’s sexual fantasies and tail spins into to a surreal dark underbelly seeking his own fantasies and finding a frightening nightmare at the end of that fantasy.

As usual, my previous response to your comment has been removed with no notification or justification by sinister, cowardly moderators.

In it, I discussed child sexual abuse by elites and Hollywood power brokers.

I recognize the film isn’t “about” this type of abuse. But it’s easy to believe that Kubrick was addressing this topic in the scene with the costume store owner and his daughter. It’s also not too much of a stretch to believe that Weinstein types might have cut from the film additional, stronger indictments of their behavior after Kubrick’s death.

Purely supposition, though.

So you’re suggesting that “the elites” had Kubrick killed so they could have final cut of EWS?

Reddit moderators have been silently deleting my comments on this topic.

This is fucking incredible. I cannot believe Kubrick explained the ending of these movies in his own words. I kinda wish I didn’t watch this. lol

That was an intense nose grab.

I'd like to have a real transcript of this interview.

I can't provide you with that, but will this help?

Thanks! I'll check it out but that phone call is epic. YouTube tried very hard to type it for me but the movie got weirder.

This is fantastic! Any more context? What was the documentary about, who made it?

Well I guess this confirms the Wendy Theory, is wrong. I love seeing this stuff, though Kubrick is right in this video. Kubrick's reluctance to explain his work allows us enough room to talk about it endlessly.

I never understood why the director/author explaining their aim would invalidate other interpretations. Like a painting, any other form of art is intended to convey a meaning to the viewer. The creator has agency in the creation, but also is just another viewer of the final piece.

I wonder how often creators set out to invoke one outcome and then themselves see something else when they view the final product.

In modern theory, the vision of the creating artists is not really seen as trumoing the perceptions of the audience i terms of meaning and significance They're considered to be independent and somewhat equally valid.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was getting at. Knowing the original interpretation is fine, but my opinion is that there's still plenty of space for separate and different individual interpretations too.

Death of the author and all that...

The Shinning?

Yes, I apparently can't spell today and inadvertently made a Simpsons joke.

Pretty sure that was an episode of Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors.

You want OP to get sued?
