I love how supportive he is of the host. Telling him he shouldn't put himself down you can tell he cares about people being fit and healthy
I love how supportive he is of the host. Telling him he shouldn't put himself down you can tell he cares about people being fit and healthy
Me too, being new to lifting is so intimidating and it wouldn't be if you knew most people are like this. He really is representing the sport well.

That’s awesome Arnold is my favorite movie star I enjoy every movie he’s been in especially the super cheesy ones with the one liners.
But also, why would you see celebs in Toronto regularly? Is it because so many movies are filmed there(like Wayne’s World)?
The cheesy ones are the best ones! haha.
And yeah, pretty much - I actually worked in the building that they filmed Suits Scenes in and would run into some the the actors a couple times at some of the Coffee/Lunch spots around the Bay-Adelaide Centre (Rick Hoffman is a beauty).
But there a quite a few movies filmed in the city, as well as TIFF, so sightings are definitely not uncommon - especially around Bay Street, King West, and Bloor. A lot of the Athletes are common sights around the city, as well - a Maple Leaf lives in my girlfriend's building, and Jose Bautista used to ride to the Roger's Centre on his scooter!
Toronoto and Vancouver are popular film locations because it's a lot cheaper to film there than it is in California.
Wayne’s World was filmed in Chicago, dude. But yes, plenty of movies are filmed here and some celebs have property around town. Also, during TIFF, this place is riddled with famous people, so there’s a solid chance you’ll see someone famous when you’re out and about.
Oh I must of mixed that movie up with Rumble in the Bronx with Jackie Chan
Hmmm, no. I’m sure you meant the Lord of The Rings trilogy.
Mordor was really just Brampton. True story.
Brampton manz here to dispute the hate. It's a lovely city.
It was the same at my old gym until some big guy came up to me. Wasn't sure what I was expecting but he smiled and gave me tips on how to get better form. Experienced people know everyone starts somewhere and I've even had people offer to do whole workouts with me just to help out. Sometimes lifting is just a bunch of people helping each other out
Sometimes I see new guys lifting with really poor form. I want to help them out with some pointers so they don't hurt themselves or do the exercises properly but I always think that they may think I try to show off or try to be the know-it-all guy at the gym.
I only want to help but some people are stuck up in the head.
I've only ever had the confidence to help out someone once but I completley get what u mean. Personally I feel like I'm just not big enough to give tips or anything and I judt have to kinda hope that if the new guy is committed enough they will watch videos or Google how to do the proper form
I feel like I'm just not big enough
I don't think that how big one is is indicative of their knowledge or training perception. Not all guys who work out their whole life want to be huge or buff. Proper exercise form is irrelevant from one's mass, in fact many "bros" at the gym have shit form although they may have been working out for quite some time.
But I get what you mean, since to a new guy being huge is almost synonymous to gym cred.
That’s the thing though, some of these guys I see arching their back in the squat rack and shit are way bigger than me... I’m worried about their form but what tf is a skinny dude gonna say especially because they are probably squatting more than me with their dangerous ass form
As someone who is pretty new to weight lifting and has already developed pain in my wrists, forearms and knees, I would appreciate tips to avoid the pain from someone who can see where I'm messing up.
I'd hate to say, but I am probably one of those people.
But guess what? That's on me and it is my choice to try and deal with that insecurity. Someone doing a genuinely nice thing should not be looked down on with skepticism :)
Nice! If you think about it the gym is the one level playing ground. Everyone is there to get healthy and be better versions of themselves so it makes sense to be supportive of one another regardless where everyone is at in their journey.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has been quite active on reddit in the last few years, he's very encouraging to people having a bad time. He showed his best side with this comment he made to a guy who was demoralized after he fell over at the gym while lifting weights.
For context just days before he'd been present at Eddie Hall's world record breaking weight lift.
/u/GovSchwarzenegger
Someone told me about this. I hope I'm not too late here, I'm traveling, but I wanted to chime in.
I always say don't be afraid of failure, because how far can you really fall? You found out - to the ground. It's right there. Now you know it isn't anything that should scare you.
You should be proud that you weren't afraid - not embarrassed that you failed. You could have made excuses not to walk into the door, but you didn't. You knew it would be hard, and it would be uncomfortable, and it might be awkward - and you did it anyway. That's courage.
I'm proud of you.
The last guy I rooted for broke a world record in the deadlift. You have more in common with him than you think.
First, he started out lifting just the bar, too (when you look at him, he may have been 3 months old at that point). Second, imagine his courage. He walked up to that bar in front of a big audience and television cameras, knowing that not only had he never lifted that much before - NO ONE on earth had - and it was highly likely he would completely fail. You may not think about it this way, but you showed that courage, on a smaller level.
Finally, I'm rooting for you, too. You took the first step and you fell, but at least you fell in the right direction, so get back up and take the next step. Keep moving forward.
I love the fuck out of Arnie. What a man.
Honestly most people at the gym are like this. Everybody knows it can be intimidating for people, but it really shouldn't. Don't be afraid to ask people about machines, tips, or exercises as most would be glad to help. It would be like somebody taking interest in your favorite hobby.
It's easy to see how he became so successful, he's super well spoken, kind and respectful.
Here he is doing much the same thing in the #1 thread of all time on /r/gainit - a community dedicated to beginners.
https://www.reddit.com/r/gainit/comments/2zfjmf/bad_day_at_the_gym_completely_demoralized/
Always saddening that OP didn't post a follow up.
[deleted]
It's funny how any parody of Arnold always had him making fun of "puny" people but he really would rather help people.
Unless you have to find a hiding place to smoke your stogies!
Loved the end. Had me cracking up
That’s actually the bro culture once you start going consistently. Dudes out there randomly helping you. It’s a positive cycle.
Yea man, I'm not a regular weight lifter but I was pretty nerdy in HS and then made friends with some jocky type bros in college and it was basically all super outgoing support. Then I joined the military and it was same way, a bunch people helping you and "pumping you up", haha. I think a lot if it that we make fun of each other A LOT and openly so you have to get thick skin and understand it's still positive bonding in a way. Maybe I'm wrong, but to me the 'bro's' I've been friends with have been way more supportive and open with me than my quieter "nerdier friends". And also as one last thing I've found, neither type of personality has ANY correlation with intelligence, like, at all.
That's honestly my favorite thing about him. From videos like this to even when he randomly drops in and comments on a reddit thread, Mr. Schwarzenegger is consistently one of the most positive, supportive, and uplifting people I can think of.
I remember a time when I was a boy, listening to "The rest of the story" with Paul Harvey with my dad in the car. I wasnt really paying attention but seem to vaguely remember a story about three brothers the youngest of which was kind of the "runt" and drove himself to succeed despite being overshadowed by those brothers. That man ended up being Gov. Schwarzenegger.
I have no idea if I recall that correctly because it was probably 25 years ago that I heard it, but if I'm correct and that is indeed the case, I would expect that has something to do with how uplifting he is towards others.
Edit: I carn't spell
And 40 years later, he's still like that.
Wasn't Arnold a massive juicer?
Nah dude he was 100% natural. Just squats and oats and a positive mindset
Living his best life.
Certainly not running natty checks on reddit so..probably?
You can be on all the juice in the world and get fat.
It's all in the mind.
Like fuck it is. You can work out as hard as you physically are capable, micromanage your nutrients, and be half his size without juice.
That was fantastic , loved that bit. I also really appreciate the host, very well conducted interview and felt natural. Was a great little watch :)
One thing i began to notice about arnold is he never let people look down on themselves.
They host is significantly more fit than the average person
being fit and healthy
Yes, while taking steroids and hgh himself at that time.
[removed]
I will explain you my opinion
I do think that anabolics are useful, especially for people with testosterone deficiencies, and in my opinion all steroids should be legal and well researched so people can live longer and happier.
BUT, Arnold was not taking small doses, even by the standards from 80's. I admit that he was one, if not the most open about taking them during his competitive years, but I don't appreciate when they take dude that is not natural and show exercises for people who will never take steroids. Do they do same exercises? Yes, but they should use more toned down model for it.
Saying this I admit I know Arnold motivated more people than people who were depressed because they knew they will never achieve Arnold's body, but it's still dishonest.
I love how he makes a point of telling the host to not put himself down.
Arnold does not do that, putting someone down. I have never seen hm do something like that. He means what he's saying.
A true inspiration. It's no wonder he became as successful as he has.
The only thing he puts down are weights...
Then he lifts them back up.
Nothin but a peanut
I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down!
He only talks shit about Donald
I bet seeing Donald put everybody else down really shits Arnold.
Then again, Donald is one gigantic piece of shit, so that works out nicely.
He put trump down a few times but only after he was provoked like 50 times
Trump gets no reprieve. Trump freely insults anybody and everybody with his inane, juvenile antics.
I watched his old documentary of his on Netflix, in his younger years his ego rightfully so was rather large, and he loved talking smack to his competitors and intimidating them.
Most of his competitors also trained with him every single day and they trained, ate and hung out together
The circle at the top is small
If you're referring to Pumping Iron, most of that was dramatized. Arnie was supposed to be kind of the villain in that movie. He was known to incorporate psychological warfare on his competitors in real life also, but what you see in Pumping Iron is a movie.
Of course. You talk smack to your competitors. That's par for the course. You want to win. In that context I'm fine with it.
Richard Feynman was patient in explaining physics to people who had no understanding of the topic. But physicists, who should know what they were talking about, they had better bring the goods or he would not be their best friend.
It was really nice that bit
What surprised me so much witrh this video is that Arnold is really body positive for that guy who considers himself to be a weed. But he is really encouraging. He'd have made a great school teacher.
He actually did teach kindergarten for a year.
Oh yeah I remember that film...
I love Kindergarten Cop, one of my favorite Arnie films.
ITS NOT A TOOMAH!!!
You mean you eat other people's lunches? STOP IT
Not film. Documentary.
historical documents
I don't think screaming "SHUT UAAP" qualifies as teaching
Hes humble and has real empathy. Most of all though, he just wants everybody to be ripped like him irl
Does he though? Didn't he say at the beginning of this video that not everyone wants to do what he did, and most people just want to do weights for fitness. Does he actually want everyone just to be doing bodybuilding?
That guy is much more fit than the average person. I'd actually say Arnold did a bad job of explaining form
Seemed kinda rushed, can't go into much detail in a single segment.
I have to say, I actually enjoyed this video. Motivated me to hit the weights!
Dude, dont hit the weights, lift them.
The fuck is wrong with you?
People never focus on form anymore. This guy isn’t going to get anywhere just hitting them. Fucking casuals.
Goddamn crossfit...
Same. I was captivated the whole time.
Yup first thing tomorrow marks the day we all finally working out and turn into arnold, Ready Break.
This dude has been in the zone for over 4 decades
Nothing but net!
A wild Bill Burr reference. I love it.
“How heavy IS this bar?”
Um, sir that’s just the bar we haven’t put any weights on yet
[deleted]
To be fair, that host was absolutely hamming it up with his lifts. A 65 lb bench press for a ~6'0" dude with his body development is light.
Ehhh. I’m 6’2 and pretty skinny. Wouldn’t say it’s light. He was probably feeling it near the end there
The main thing that makes me think he was hamming it is because he only "struggled" with the negative motions. Also, take a look at this dude's double bicep. He's clearly got some pec development going on.
Good point. I think you’re probably right
[deleted]
Well, it's also a television show aimed at children. :)
[deleted]
its the reason be became so successful. His charm played a very big part and he made sure that his english was very good.
Yeah, I was really impressed with his articulation. He spoke better than the presenter for sure.
[deleted]
Nah that’s not that hard, you could probably do it after a couple of months of weight training. You’d be surprised how fast you gain strength when you first start training.
You might be surprised by just how powerful your triceps are. The only way to find out is to get to the gym and try it!
Then exercise your triceps more? I'm only slightly bulkier than the host and I do lying pullover tricep extensions with two 35lb dumbbells.
Oh my god nobody cares.
Damn I thought I was in /r/Fitness wondering what the fuck is happening to this sub, but nope its just /r/videos
[deleted]
I am the walrus.
Shut the fuck up Donnie
V. I. Lenin
I live in a yellow submarine
I vape.
I find that people especially in the west need to announce they aren't a vegan way more than actual vegans need to announce they are vegans. And further than that, they need to circlejerk around veganism way more than actual vegans circlejerk about people eating meat.
People who click on a video of a famous nobody builder might.
It’s literally a thread about weight lifting gtfo
[deleted]
GOTEM!!!!!!!!!11!!!!
no one cares that you can be a bean pole and still be strong enough that life isn't physically challenging? they should care, your energy level and quality of life can drastically improve with even a modest investment in strength training.
Go home
[deleted]
Holy shit you’re a cunt.
That was unnecessary. A quick glance at their post history shows that they're a runner. Not really looking for strength as much as stamina.
[deleted]
I'd love to watch you call a bodybuilder pathetic lol
[deleted]
Haha is this a copypasta? There is no way someone can actually sound like such a complete muppet and be serious. You are hilarious, friend!
There's not a single copypasta in this world that intimidates me. I respect their dedication to their pasta and admire their story development but I've been a redditor in combat memes for most of my life and I am currently a muppet so I'm not scared by that. Besides, a copypasta wouldn't hurt someone if that's what your insinuating. They are typically very down to earth and humble. I've seen a few from Reddit.
/r/iamverybadass
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me you little bitch
There's not a single bodybuilder in this world that intimidates me. I respect their dedication to their craft and admire their muscular development but I've been an athlete in combat sports for most of my life and I am currently an infantryman so I'm not scared by that. Besides, a bodybuilder wouldn't hurt someone if that's what your insinuating. They are typically very down to earth and humble. I know a few from the gym.
Oh yeah? Well there's not a single bodybuilder in this world that intimidates me.
I never meant to imply a bodybuilder would hurt you, all I meant to say is that calling a bodybuilder pathetic wouldn't be accurate. We all have things that we're bad at, I wouldn't have much trouble lifting a 65lb weight but I probably couldn't run a mile very well at all. Don't be so quick to judge.
Whos moto boot is this?
What I was thinking
But how many confirmed killed do you have?
Sounds like you can’t handle 65lb weights and feels insecure about it lmao
Mmm pasta
Ah, their it is “I’m an infantryman,” such a badass. Tell me, what do you actually do on a daily basis? Mr. Badass. I’m going guess next to nothing, and get paid to do it with a free place to live, free meals, and more.
but I've been an athlete in combat sports for most of my life
yeah dawg, that shit doesn't matter when someone has 50lbs on you
[deleted]
[deleted]
How’s your 5 year old mustang/camaro treatin ya?
Being able to run a mile would be the equivalent of being able to lift 15lbs
What kind of lift? Do you know understand how broad that term is?
Chill out man. You don’t have to be a dick.
WE GOT A BADASS OVER HERE!
Arnold would not be impressed...
Edit* with your attitude.
Oof. Typical douche bag LOL.
Arnold would be disappointed in you
As a man I struggle with 25lbs on each side on bench press. What does that make me, cheif?
Not strong, I guess
[deleted]
You made an account just to announce to the internet how "manly" you are. LOL.
It's literally what a 12 yr old thinks is manly. Dude is trolling everyone.
[deleted]
[deleted]
I can’t really change the main faucets in my life since I’m renting
That lease agreement is a bitch
Maybe adjust your spelling faucet.
I guess you need to spend less time hitting the gym and more time hitting the books. A real man can spell.
That’s 95 lbs lmao
It’s interesting to see the body language, Arnold starts off open and articulate but the interviewer is obviously not used to being in a vest, standing next to Arnold of all people. He crosses his arms and can’t make eye contact, and soon after Arny crosses his arms too. After that the whole thing seemed a bit awkward. Great to see how charismatic Arny has always been
After that the whole thing seemed a bit awkward.
It didn't at all. That's just the way TV presenters used to conduct interviews in Britain. Seemed very natural to me because I'm used to it.
i noticed this too, good observation
Happy you brought this up! I immediately had to ctrl-f for "body language" after viewing this. I hope Arnold's word about him not beating himself up for being skinny got through to him, everyone should be able to witness the wonder of improving your physique with working out!
What's the most straightforward way to bench press at home safely without needing a spotter? Getting a bench, bar and weights is easy but without a spotter could be a bit dicey. Is there a way to do the same solo with zero chance to get in a bind?
If you're just starting out, dumbbells might be better than a bar. Let's you feel out the exercise, learn your limits, and strengthen supporting muscles.
The big advantage of a spotter imo is that you can push yourself up to your limit, and if you overshoot, it's ok.
I agree; bench pressing with a pair of dumbbells is much safer without a spotter.
I've never used a spotter and never had an issue. Just know your limits. Don't let that hold you back at all, you'll get a feel for it quickly and it is a nonissue.
Leave the pins/clamps whatever off the ends of the bar and you can dump the wait by rocking it to the side if you reaaally needed to. Again though, you'll likely never have that issue at all if you're not dumb about it.
Safest bet is to buy a set up that has safety bars on your sides that you can adjust. Usually it is a rack that you can do squats and pulls with as well
Start out testing your limits, and when you lift alone, don't lift at your max weight for reps in case you get stuck under the bar on the last one.
Alternatively, if you lift on concrete or the ground floor, and the surface you're lifting on doesn't matter if it gets damaged, you can lift without weight clips on the bar and just lift up one end of the bar to dump the plates if you get stuck.
You need some "oh shit" bars/safety catches/j hooks and you need to know when to not go for the last rep.
Look up spotter arms. But as someone else said you should start with dumbbells.
If you're doing ghetto squats and you get to a heavy weight you can only really trust a bench...
If you're sticking ghetto though, lay in the floor and lift your legs up to the upper hip thrust position, stay there and go for it.
roll of shame
You can get a Smith machine.
In a full cage squat rack with horizontal bar support that will prevent the bar from crushing your neck. You will never reach full potential without a spotter tho.
If you wanted to train optimally you wouldn't be going for 1 rep max every single time. You can train fine without a spotter. I'd just recommend it for people just starting or if you're going to try a new max weight.
[deleted]
Sure, but that's fairly uncommon, plus certainly not necessary for proper training. I think saying
You will never reach full potential without a spotter tho.
is just a really weird claim.
Edit: are you fucking serious lmao. You ever see Arnold train his regular training with a spotter? Didn't think so. And then consider for an amateur it matters even less. Ridiculous.
Yeah, not sure what the other guy is on about. Training to failure is a great way to mess up your form and cause an injury (I know, I've done it). 5/3/1, one of the most acclaimed programs out there, literally makes a point of never having the trainee go that far, using a training max as opposed to an actual max. You can absolutely reach full potential without ever training to failure, you might just not know what that potential level is without being able to test your 1rm (which might need a spotter depending on the situation).
Short of lifting so little that there is literally zero chance of failure not really.
C’mon, more energy
Arnold not giving that guy an inch.
"I suppose you really need someone to help you, don't you?"
"No, you really don't."
This was wonderful. I've always found /r/fitness to be just as warm and responsive as this video. Body builders and weight lifters in general are a nice bunch.
this is nice to read. I've been getting more comments in real life these past few years that fitness people are generally douche bags and it was a little disheartening.
Now I know where tinsel is born.
You, too, can have this body with these exercises and a steady diet of protein shakes and tuna fish.
Don't forget chicken breasts, spinach, and a kilo of test.
And if you want Arnold's body, you need to take steroids from 14 years old like he did.
Very surprised by how knowledgeable, charismatic, and funny young Arnold was. I thought he was just a big meathead when he was young but apparently not!
Any bodybuilder, especially a professional, world champion one, needs to develop a fairly good level of understanding of human anatomy, some basic physics, nutrition, even maths. It involves a lot of numbers and factors to make it not only as efficient and effective as possible but also safe. You might even throw a bit of chemistry in there with the "extracurriculars" Arnie was on back then. "Meatheads" don't get that big.
Not to mention the amount of sheer willpower and dedication it takes almost guarantees you'll be a cut above most people.
I highly recommend people that want to start getting into weight training buy the book Starting Strength (or just find it online as a PDF... ;)). It covers all the compound exercises you need to start getting strong, and teaches good technique.
"This man is growing fast!"
While Arnold is obviously amazing at what he does, this video is not the best for a beginner - there is very little focus on form and regimen.
i mean... it's also a very basic interview from obviously the 80 or even possibly the 70s if it was when pumping iron came out. for that time period.... when some of these movements would have been utterly alien to people... it does a fine job of showcasing basic movements.
someone below references Rippetoe. his book...starting strength wasn't released until 2005.
the amt of scientific and cultural change from the 70's to past the 2000s is staggering
Yup, definitely agree with this. And that was the point of my comment as well - the science of fitness has evolved tremendously since then.
Care to share some beginner sources please?
Youtube "Mark Rippetoe How To". He's an old school lifter who's very anal about form and will teach you the absolute strictest form step by step for a variety of key compound lifts. He also created a decent beginner regimen named "Starting Strength".
I thoroughly recommend Scooby1961 on YouTube for a wholesome approach to weight lifting, health, cardio, fitness and eating right. His advice on weight lifting form is great.
Ha Scooby is a legend. He’s been around since the beginning of YouTube and is still going strong. That guy has amazing discipline not only when it comes to fitness. Did you know he’s building his own airplane???
Yes I really enjoy his new content as well as his catalogue from over a decade ago! The Mr Rogers of Lifting indeed.
The /r/fitness wiki is an awesome and zero-bullshit resource: https://thefitness.wiki/getting-started-with-fitness/
Here's their recommended beginner routine: https://thefitness.wiki/routines/r-fitness-basic-beginner-routine/
https://thefitness.wiki/getting-started-with-fitness/
It's a pretty convoluted answer..
Depending on your goal, be it weightloss, strength, size, or whatever - Starting Strength and something like Stronglifts 5x5 are good go-to workouts that are fairly simple and easy to follow.
You can also do calisthenics, which is bodyweight workouts. And there is a whole sub for it called /r/bodyweightfitness
The Governator
Gym is very good because it makes you stronger
How come all I see of /u/GovSchwarzenegger is positivity and happiness. Like, I’d be surprised if he didn’t show up in this thread to tell us all a quick tip to continue on with the video and which ones he continues to this day.
My favorite post from him was the one recently about loving to workout and diet and exercise but sometimes you just gotta eat a ton of ice cream to enjoy life.
As somebody battling with weight and motivation and being bummed by diet and the things you give up to be healthy I was like, oh shit, it is okay to have that life joy once in a while.
"Yes, first of all I want to compliment you for your physical development because you really look very athletic and good, so don't put yourself down."
It takes confidence to start lifting in the first place, and if you have a defeatist attitude towards your own body, you will have a very hard time succeeding in your fitness goals. Props to Arnie for pulling him out of such a self-destructive mindset.
Step one, buy some steroids.
Yes you can build muscle like that but not natty
Not sure why youre being downvoted lol. Arnold was saying you can build 20 pounds of muscle in 3months... thats pretty unrealistic without using steroids. A person can only build about 15 pounds of muscle a year without taking steroids.
it's cause too many people on here don't have any experience with roids or know whats natural vs not and want to live in the fantasy of anyone can do it with just diet and exercise. personally I say roid the fuck up if you want to but don't lie about it. Arnold has always been upfront about his roid usage.
Yeah im 24 and have been lifting seriously for 3 years, prior to that I was running D3 cross country. I count my macros and lift 5 days a week. 20 pounds of muscle in a month sounds like a dream.
Edit: im 5' 11" and 175 pounds now. I like the lean look and my target weight is 185 - 190. Im struggling a bit to get a lean muscular look at that weight
He never said YOU can build 20lbs of muscle in 3 months.
He uses the generic you to say that the type of training they do for 3 months before a competition builds 20lbs of muscle.
Noone training naturally can do 4 hours of weightlifting everyday though so the general population doesn't fall under this generic "you" he is referring to.
My reply was in response to the parent comment that was being downvoted for saying the below.
Yes you can build muscle like that but not natty
I was just backing him up since the downvotes seemed to suggest that Arnold's figure is achievable naturally. I totally agree that 20 pounds of muscle in 3 months is realistic given the right regiment and usage of performance enhancing drugs.
Everybody knows what he said.
doesn't fall under this generic "you"
We ll then it's not generic, is it?
The more accurate statement would be that with steroids you can do that. It's important that people know that you need the roids to look like that. You "akshually" bullshit and being "technically correct" doesn't mean a goddamn thing.
You're misunderstanding what generic means. It's not a universal, all-embracing term.
It's a pronoun used "to refer to an unspecified person". You'd know that if you read the short wiki page I linked.
Everybody knows exactly what he said ffs.
This all the way. Arnold has done countless interviews saying that he and all the other bodybuilders of his era used steroids because back in the day, it was extremely commonplace. He took primobolan, deca-durobolin, and dianabol. This in no way means he was not extremely dedicated, disciplined, and hard working. It is what it is.
All these people hating on arnold's physique. Seriously anyone can get that big if they just eat enough protien, work out everyday, rest, stay hydrated, and take a bunch of steroids. It's not that hard.
It definitely ain’t easy even if steroids are taken. You make it seem like there’s nothing to it. Most people (in America at least) live sedentary lives and can be very difficult to exercise regularly and stay motivated
They had us in the first half, not gonna lie.
Even with steroids most people wouldn’t look like him. His proportions are exquisite, and that’s just genetics.
I mean he does have a 4 pack so it's not really all there genetically, he looks huge though so it shows that you can fight past bad genetics.
That's true
This is a lot better than most workout videos I have seen.
Why did I ever think Arnold had trouble speaking English.
the movies he kinda overreacts some lines and comics taking jabs at him
arnold is my childhood and adult hero. not only did he live one of the most remarkable modern lives, but he is a commendable man to the core. this doesn't get mentioned much, but arnold had a love child with a maid. he didn't rape her, but it was an affair and he cheated on his wife. mistake? you bet. double down on shame? 21 sir. but he supported, spent time with, and loved all of his children. he still has a phenomenal relationship with his child with that maid. he posts videos of them working out together and spending time together often on his instagram, and that son just graduated from pepperdine with arnold there for him at graduation. i gotta say, i love how human he is, and how he handles himself. you can tell he's a good person from even just this clip. stopping the self deprecating humor to really empower those around him. arnold is an absolute unit of a legend.
EDIT: just want to make clear that i am not trying to make cheating on your wife heroic. it is not that quality that constitutes my statement. i believe everyone is entitled to make mistakes, but it is how you deal with them that determines your character.
hes the type of guy id let sleep in my room during a sleepover while id use the couch
Wow the host was a very young deron brown.
reps reps and more reps
How did the host and up looking today?
Wow, Arnie is a top gent
Damn this dude was jacked!
and arnold looks good too.
That presenter is Tommy Boyd. An amazing British radio DJ
He’s so professional and articulate, I admit I didn’t expect that from 80’s Arnie. I love that he differentiate people’s needs for working out.
they always say to never meet your heroes but Arnold seems like the type of dude that I would absolutely love to meet. Such an inspiring man.
"You really look very athletic and good, so dont put yourself down"
This is why i love Arnold.
arnold is the kind of guy you root for even when you don't want to.
Anyone know what year this was from? Arnold was born in '47, so if this was ~85 he would be nearing 40 years old in that clip!
This guy is an incredible human being with the will of a champion. Came to America and didn't speak a lick of english and becomes pretty much an instant Hollywood success and then becomes governor. That's some type A shit right there.
I'm just scrolling down to see if Arnold shows up!
Down up; more energy!
This makes me happy! He is one of the people I go to when I feel like I want to give up. But I have been watching tons of videos and becoming more spiritual. It actually helps when you aee results.
That was actually a very informative video I'm impressed.
Miss the 80's cheese...good times!
C’mon, get to the choppah!
Using the suicide grip while demonstrating bench press for beginners?
Awesome!
He just seems like an all around nice guy.
I would love to have some chrome weights like those. That's peak 80s right there. Also props to Arnold for being positive and encouraging to the host. Everyone thinks guys who go to the gym are assholes but they're very positive and supportive if you actually meet them.
Gimmie domoir
I love how Arnold mirror's the host's body language (crossing his arms and using the same tone). Top mind in a top body.
Classic Tommy Boyd!! I remember him presenting The Wide Awake Club with Michaela Strachan and Timmy Mallett (and it was the start of Mike Myers’ career in the Sound Asleep Club)...
I once wrote a letter to him (1987/88) to tell him that he looked like Rex Smith from Street Hawk...
... He didn’t get back to me.
So wholesome when he compliments the guy.
I.....AM....AHNALD....SCHWARTZCHANIGGA!!!!
Dont forget your steroid cocktail to supplement your routine. You can get fit but will not look like the Terminator without them. ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
Pretty much this. Aint no one putting on that much dense muscle without the steroids.
I thought he had a stroke when I saw the last name.
Steroids!
you would not look like him if you would use all the steroids in the world mate... it takes so much dedication to come even close to that. using steroids as an excuse is just sad.
It good experience
because her wife father never makes a mistake
Wait, the bar isn’t supposed to touch your chest...??
Well you're not supposed to drop it on your chest. Should be controlled all the way.
How to get muscles like Arnold - steroids
Step 1: Steroids
That’s like step 10

When was the last time you lift?
he's very articulate, no wonder he became governor
Nothin but net for over 4 decades!
The guy's been in zone for 4 decades!
I couldn’t resist
Bill Burr is the best comedian of all time.
You should check out Patrice O Neal. Widely regarded by many famous comedians (including Bill Burr) as “funniest guy that ever lived”. He was an OG in the comedy scene too with his work on Tough Crowd and the Cellar. His stand up before he died Elephant in the room sets the gold standard on seamless delivery, truthfulness, creativity, and crowd interaction. Any comedy fan should watch and appreciate that guy.
Here’s Bill Burr on Conan where he explains his fundraiser for Patrice’s mom and wife after he passed that really encapsulates just how much he was loved and is missed.
Yea I love Patrice
I’m a ridiculously huge Bill Burr fan. That being said, Patrice was the king. Absolute legend, I miss him.
Seamless delivery. I cant believe I never understood that company name before now.
Was going to reply to him with Patrice and saw that you did. Prime for prime Patrice is the king!
Saw Patrice in Ireland years back with Denis Leary, funniest night I'd had in years.
this is insulting to read.
your face is insulting to look at
I will agree he's one of the best of all time, but I still think Patrice O'neal was better.
I also think very few things (at least for me) can beat Eddie Murphy's delirious, and yes I know most people prefer raw.
I also have a personal soft spot for Eddie Izzard, but I do think his comedy is rather repetitive so I won't try to push him into any sort of "best comedian" ranking.
If I was objective I would probably put Carlin in there and Richard Pryor as well, but even though I love them both I won't put them in my top list.
But with Patrice and Burr I'll gladly slide inn Louis CK as one of the best and my favourites and also Chappelle up and until the Chappelles show, I don't enjoy his latter work (his netflix specials etc).
I do to an extent love where comedy is at the moment with all the players, while simultaneously hope the comedy landscape become a bit more edgy again and the world becomes a bit more free so colleges don't kick out comedians for being offensive.
We've had some great specials in the last year or three. Kevin Harts latest is the only ones of his I like and I thought it was really enjoyable and I love his movies. Of the "newer" popular ones that constantly has me laughing I gotta add Sebastian Maniscalco
For people that love comedy there is one special I'd put out there that I think almost anyone will enjoy but few know about: Robin Williams - Live on Broadway.
Ok cool obviously it is subjective

Unloading trucks in Transylvania should have been the height of his success!
Btw, is it just me or is his accent way less heavy in this clip then it is today?
It seems like, he re-acquired the accent again after it started to become a trademark when starting of in Hollywood.
You haven't seen Hercules in New York, have you? Hilariously bad movie, with Arnie's accent so thick, you couldn't cut it with a ginsu knife.
The original had him dubbed over, his accent was so thick

Yup lol. Took me a while to download the version without the voice dubbing. It's out there and his accent is glorious.
That guy was clearly reading the script that is stuck on the wall behind the camera!
That films fucking class, the scenes on Mount Olympus where you can hear cars in the background. Hahaha. And don't the gods call down from Olympus via the radio at the end?
The bear fight in central park was mint though.
He shed the humbleness in his voice ad a youth when he became one of the most popular people internationally.
DOOOO EEEET, KEEEEELL MEEEE, DO EET NOWWWWW
I’ve no proof, but I heard he has done speech therapy in the past to retain his accent specifically because it’s so iconic. He’d probably sound close to American by now without intentionally keeping his accent.
I think he actually had/has a coach to help him specifically to maintain it, as it really is his trademark.
Mate have you seen his speech about the pump lol
I'm coming, coming, constantly coming. My entire body is coming.
like i said, articulate and candid
The governator
Did you know he commuted the sentence of a murder in half, because "Got to help a friend"
