r/AccidentalRomanticism a la J.M.W. Turner

Came here to say, that looks more like something from the 1800s.

They had forest fires in the 1800s as well.

Jury's still out on whether they had Black hawk Helicopters in the 1800s.

That’s just what the government WANTS you to think.

I meant the style looks like it's from the 1800s.

Fortunate son starts playing

Yah they had forest fires in nam too

Minus the helicopter this is so close to being a turner painting - very close to something like Rain Steam Speed

The Master of Light.... Now we're talking.

I saw a Turner exhibit a while back, I found it suspicious that he happened to have his canvas set up at the site of so many major fires... not to mention at sites where young women bathe

Accidental Turner was the first ting I thought of

Those clouds totally remind me of his 'Rain, Steam, and Speed'

ok how the hell is this not a painting?

It’s either a low-res photo or a painting. I can’t decide

Or a low-res photo of a painting

Or a low-res painting of a photo?

I'd say it was a good photo before whatever filter was slapped on it, now it's just a r/shittyhdr candidate.

Based on the look of the helicopter, I’m gonna say a painting.

"Lieutenant...bomb that tree-line back about a hundred yards; GIVE IT SOME ROOM TO BREATHE!"

Send em to the Stone Age son.

Classic American romanticism, but definitely not renaissance

You know, chopper where wild living back then, their habitant was shrunken by humans and those how didn't get captured and breeded, had to die for spare parts... It's sad no one is talking about it..

This is the end...

Beautiful friend...

This is the end. . . my only friend. . . the end. . .

Of all elaborate plans, the end

Hold your breath and count to ten

I can hear Duvall

I lOvE tHe sMelL oF NaPaLm In tHe MoRnInG

Charlie don't baked potato

I feel like this'd pair well with Fortunate Son blaring in the background

I feel like this'd pair well with Fortunate Son blaring in the background

A I can practically hear Ride of the Valkyrie blaring from the speakers.

Hello, just a reminder that the subsifellfor joke is no longer and was never funny and is way overused.

This is a bot

the joke has gotten old yes, but whoever made this bot is a complete and utter dick holy shit

Read this as putting out “Fries” and got a little too excited.

Fort McMurray

This is the end. Beautiful friend. The end.

The composition is obviously fantastic, but this might also belong in /r/shittyhdr

I love the smell of napalm in the mornin’

IDK about renaissance helicopters, but it's a gorgeous shot.

Da Vinci's helicopter looked a little different.

we need that for the notre dame thing!!!

Can that helicopter fly over to Notre Dame?

This is an amazing photo

I lived through this. Four years ago now? Looked worse than it was

Was this in Victoria? Looks like a classic bushfire

Nope. North Dakota

Ah whoops

Wouldn’t be surprised if Vic had bushfires though.

Hope everyone there recovered OK from it

Yeah it was just a grass fire. Nothing burned down. It happened on the outskirts of a college campus. The smoke was so bad they evacuated the dorms. No significant damage though

its like a reverse Vietnam

Very creative !

That's one big Blackhawk!

Some folks are born maaaaaade to wave the flag. Ooo that red white and blue.

I thought this was a painting wow

I’d buy a print of that.

Is there a higher res version of this? I would love it as a picture on my wall

Looks like a picture from Vietnam.

Looks like something out of Vietnam.

Did someone say Apocalypse Now?

Looks like a Uh 60

It is!

So is it like national guard using it then?

It was an NG black hawk used to fight a brush fire south of town

Is there something hanging top 3/4th?

Love the smell of napalm in the morning, sorry wrong image!

Tropic Thunder

I can hear fortunate son in the background

Footage of me doing the extra credit part of the final project after slacking off an entire semester

Was this Kansas in Feb/March of 2017?

Bismarck, ND, April 2015

Werd, pretty shot. Similar terrain as KS

what a great puzzle that photo would make

Needs more jpeg.

Why does look like Vietnam circa 1961

How is it possible that no one knows what renaissance painting is on a subreddit specifically dedicated to renaissance art.

This one kinda got away from me; I might have removed if I'd caught soon enough after posting. Actually the sky itself does resemble various Renaissance skies although overall it gives more of a Romantic vibe.

But as it is borderline enough for there to be a lot of comments that are either "this is the only Renaissance thing I've ever seen on this sub" or "This is the least Renaissance thing I've ever seen, ever" I'm leaving it up.

Yeah it's fair enough. It also isn't great optics if you delete posts that have huge amount of upvotes and discussion either.

It's just kind of disappointing I guess. Maybe it's more that reddit's format isn't ideal for something like this, due to it being a mass upvote and user submitted thing, vs a curated album, video, website, etc by someone(s) that are intimately familiar with renaissance art, so we all have to sort of roll with the hivemind as it were and take what gets upvoted. Which sometimes means accepting and celebrating posts like this which are more generically 'painterly' than specifically renaissance.

Exactly! I actually see my role as a little more of a curator than a mod, but a mixture of both which gets tricky- sometimes have to make decisions for mod purposes that would be different if it were strictly a curated space with no input from users. Thanks!

hey there was a helicopter game for atari that looked something like this..... anyone remember?

This would look good in r/fakealbumcovers

Was this taken in Australia?

This would be my wallpaper if it didn’t look like you used a pin hole camera and painted it from there with one eye closed and using your non dominant hand...

Wow, actually looks like an oil painting.

Looks like a shot from Apocalypse Now.

Why wasn't he in Paris flying over the Notre Dame??

It looks like a painting

Ok I want this on my wall

What the hell, all this colours. Life is amazing
