Your objective is to survive against zombies, rebels, and each other. I think an open world star Wars have could have so my options like this. Wish they would take the time to make one. Probably went with an old projectile model for this operation. As we saw on the forest moon of Endor, older tech is still quite effective in some situations.

Fairly widespread too, at least on the Outer Rim. I'd imagine a conventional weapon would be way easier to keep working for a frontiersman than a blaster rifle would. They're also useful anti-Jedi weapons, because you can't block a bullet with a lightsaber (well, you can, but you'll just get a faceful of hot slag moving at the same speed). I've got a whole battalion of clones in my SW tabletop who use them specifically because they're assigned to hunt Jedi.

Because we're playing over Roll20 and they don't allow you to use FF dicesets unless you're a subscriber.
Also, there's a few newer TTRPG players in the group who don't want to branch too far from D20 stuff.

Slug throwers tend to have more armor penetration than blasters too so it wouldn't be strange to see scouts using them.

Not in logistics. A single power pack sized for a pistol gets you about 500 shots. When you're a galaxy spanning empire who needs to supply warfronts in multiple sectors scattered about, the gun that's easier and cheaper to supply in large quantities is going to win out over the gun with any other quality

Not that useful for a few reasons that have been mentioned but also because slug throwers lack in the ability to be explosive or have EMP effects. Blasters can fire for longer and have the ability to customize the bolts.
Slug throwers are outdated for a reason but they are effective in unique situations.
A legends example is the verpine rifles mentions a shit ton in the republic commando novels. They are able to do a bunch of stuff like fire random clumps of garbage as a projectile which extends their usefulness, while also being just a handheld rail gun. They are expensive as fuck apparently.

Generally, to use a suppressor effectively you need a round that's naturally subsonic. Things like the .45 ACP are excellent for use in a suppressed weapon because they have good stopping power and are subsonic.
In a rifle, you're not looking to dampen the sound of the shot, since the round is going to be supersonic, but rather to conceal where it came from. In the case of the image, the scout is giving away his presence by using a rifle but making it hard for the rebel scum to find him.
