Dumb AI, especially in Bethesda games, has been mocked in a lot of skits with the same punchline but this one was pretty imaginative.

I was about to say, "If this is another Skyrim AI skit I'm out the fucking door"

But this is a new angle other than, "haha, they dumb." I like it.

Honestly, I've had an idea of a video game for a while that'd do a switcheroo like this. I always love when the rug gets pulled out from under the audience 1/3 of the way through an action game/flick and switches tone or genre. Think the film Predator or the game Spec Ops: The Line.

In this case, it'd be thinking you're playing a Skyrim-style RPG with their kooky NPCs, but 1/3 of the way through you begin to realize that the silly "rules" they play by are self-imposed, i.e. they know the rules of the game as well as you do and are playing along. So you putting a pot on their head to steal everything in their store? They fully knew what was happening when you did it and let it happen anyways.

The difference is in the idea I've been tinkering with it would slowly turn into a horror game as you realize you, the player, are not some Mary Sue Hero like the game was marketed. The question then becomes why everyone else is playing along.

The physical acting sold it for me, like his visor falling down at "you wanna make it to a second shift?"

Like, yeah, it's an overdone joke. But this is good shit.

I don’t even play Skyrim and this got me laughing

this one is the definitive "bethesda AI is bad" skit

So they just made a video version of this post that was made like 5 days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/ucdigm/taken_me_years_of_playing_skyrim_to_realise_why/

That's not even the origin of that joke. There's been memes about this ever since Skyrim came out.

Never should have come here!!

Wasn't this joke originally from Metal Gear Solid as well?

Basically any open world game with guards and stealth mechanics and an overpowered protagonist.

And? They acted and filmed it as a funny skit, nothing wrong with that IMO

Ehh, at least it had a decent punchline

Yes, because everyone makes their skit videos off of week-old reddit threads about a decade old game.

The video was uploaded yesterday and they liked a comment that mentioned it being an adaptation of that reddit post

Okay but they literally did though

Looks like they just made a worse version of this Batman joke which used to get spammed on reddit all the time. Probably the origin of that Skyrim post too.

That's not even the same joke. This video is making fun of Skyrim's mechanics with stealth.

Does it need to be a line for line remake in order for you to understand that it's the same joke with the same punchline?

It's a different joke.

Hilarious ending, who cares if there was a Reddit post just talking about it, now we have these guys acting it out and putting their spin on it.

This is absolute gold.
