/r/MuseumOfReddit is a collection of all the great/horrifying stories this place generates

It isn't generating them. and most of them are made up. And we're all gonna die some day.

Fucking hell. I'm going back to bed.

don't blame you dave. See this is what happens when you leave /r/ireland.

I'll never abandon ye again...

[deleted]

Irish ones do

Since when am I a robot?

Sleep well davef, sleep well

What if you die in your sleep?

Now the only option is to stay awake 24/7.

Well. This day just gets better and better, doesn't it?

It does. Remember, you could die while you're awake, meaning your only option is to sleep 24/7.

Waaaaayyyy ahead of you.

What if you die in your sleep?

Now the only option is to stay awake 24/7.

davef disappears in a puff of logic

RIP /u/Davef

He stopped doing the living thing at 7:49

RIP in RIPeronies

If people make them up just to post on Reddit for karma, then in a sense Reddit is generating the stories.

Who let you comment?!

You did, YOU HAD ONE JOB.

Wanna watch some TV?

WUBALUBADUBDUB!

Yes that's why they're called stories

That's not why and you're dumb.

Who put a stick up your ass this morning?

"Lol DAE life doesn't matter and nothing matters and please someone love me I'm so alone mooooom is the meat loaf done yet?!"

Oh yeah? Well, you're... a jerk! How about that!

Surely if the stories are made up specifically to post on reddit, then reddit is generating them.

It isn't generating them.

I'd like to introduce you to the hilarious /r/SubredditSimulator/

I wonder how many redditors die every day

And Santa Claus isn't real

Wha-wha-what??????!!?

And Cartman's mom is a big fat bitch.

Then nothing I do today matters! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Buuuzzzzkiiiill

Made-up stories on the internet? This is not what Al Gore created the internet for

All made up and the points don't matter.

You sound like a fun guy.

You're selling some strong shit.

And we're all gonna die someday

you almost just killed me laughing. I might have to start adding that to the end of some posts

Plot twist: we're all already dead.

Fuck that reminded me of /u/Dw-im-here. I miss that guy.

Dammit man I'm at work I can't be doing this shit

Just spent the last 2 hours at work binging on the top posts. Thank you for your involvement in my lack of productivity.

I was listening to Baroque Era music while browsing the top posts, and it was oddly suiting.

strange, you can only upvote. biased much?

It was watching my life go by. My balls were tingling, just knowing I scroll on the same ground as legends, criminals, and common folk. It is truly an honor.

This is bullshit. You're oversimplifying a complex situation to the point of no longer adding anything useful to the discussion.

/r/oldpeoplefacebook had me in stitches for about half an hour the other day. Great use of my time.

That sub was my favorite thing for like a week.

Laughed so hard almost forgot to navigate back to upvote.

This is by far my new favourite sub! Thank you!

It's like a jungle sometimes. It makes wonder how I keep from going under.

Askreddit is always a rabbit hole for me. I really loves me some crazy stories.

I think that was one of the first reddit posts I ever read. Didn't sleep much that night, too many juicy details to read about.

Don't say juicy and cumbox in the same sentence...

He didn't...

reading comprehension is tough

So... we downvote him?

You just did

How about moist cumbox?

The amazing thing is that people continued to post confessions on that thread for a long, long time after it was posted.

I think we saved someone from suicide on that thread.

we

As in "we did it, Reddit"

I was on that thread, and I'm sure I replied to that person, but I myself probably had little to no impact.

Every little bit helped.

I just went and read your whole post for the first time. I've been struggling lately. I have a history of severe depression in my teens and have been afraid of falling back into that deep dark hole for the last year (21 now). I feel great compared to what it was before, but I still slip up a lot of days and feel like I'm getting worse.

Everyday I tell myself the same thing "life goes on" and just let another day pass. And everyday I feel like it's pointless, but I keep hoping that it will all be worth it and just needed to wait for life to get really good again. Thank you for still being on this earth. Thank you for not giving up on yourself and reminding others why they shouldn't either. Your post helped me today. I hope you are still doing well.

I'm glad my post helped. One thing I wish someone had told me at your age is this: Don't just let time pass. Enjoy being young. You're 21 years old, if you don't have a major medical problem you should be working out every day, and you should be out there meeting people and living life. I started late, and I regret it greatly. 21 is a perfectly fine age to still be learning, so just remember that things might get embarrassing or hard to deal with from time to time, and that you'll make up for it by enjoying the fuck out of the successes that those trials and tribulations earn you.

Get in shape, don't worry about minor failures, and enjoy the fuck out of the next 9 years :)

I intend to! Working out and doing yoga are something that I am trying to get in better habit of doing. I'm not fat; I'm a tall skinny female, but that by no means I'm in shape, I know I need to work on myself in a lot of areas. I'm terrible at running and I don't think I'll ever get better, but just general fitness is something I've been ignoring for awhile.

I've also been working on making friends a bit more lately. I'm married, so it's easy to lean on him for friendship since my childhood friends are all far away. Recently I met a girl I'm still in contact with last semester and have another class with her coming up. I hope to meet some more people this semester, and I'm looking online too. So while I still feel generally apathetic about most things in life, I'm not completely neglecting it. A short time ago I was just hiding.

And thank you again, for the reminder. I will keep it at heart.

Ive read ur post twice. both times right after an edit. such is life.

Ive been down the same mentality and did try to kill myself twice but im better now. Seeing ur post makes me smile knowing that someone else made it back up from rock bottom.

I hope your post continues to help and impress upon other people.

You mean that one guy who updated his post over the course of 3 years?

Oh god, was it really 3 years ago? But yeah, I think so. I don't remember for sure, but there was someone who came out of that thread for the better.

Yea I think it's the same guy, his most recent update was about 2 days ago. It's pretty inspiring how far he seems to have come

I remember this. Do you have a direct link by any chance?

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/t0ynr/z/c4in3fk

Thank you!

It's kinda inspirational

Oh and my cumbox...

I still can't believe the guy is still active. /u/lynfect

Now he just posts photos of dead kids! Much better.

Hopefully the latter doesn't lead to the former.

To be fair, he's infamous for posting a box full of dead kids.

Edit: Thanks for the gold!

Sperm aren't people though. They're basically wind up toys.

I sexually identify as a sperm, and I'd thank you to check your Darwindamned privelage. Sperm are people too

Shut up and find your egg already you slacker.

Excuse you, but I am a proud, independent white sperm. I don't need an egg to be happy, I am my own being.

He's only just now made it past the lower colon...

Coco cachoo

you sound like my parents

I know right! Fucking diploiders.

Every sperm is sacred,

Every sperm is great,

If a sperm is wasted,

The numbers of genocides I committed within a sometimes single days during my teenager years. I am a monster.

That means you're a hermaphrodite, right?

Half of one anyway.

Only if you round up.

Sperm lives matter.

Go back to tumblr :-)

SPERM MATTER

#SpermMatters

#SpermLivesMatter

Liquidy almost children

tell that to the pro-lifers, prelifers

pro-lifers don't consider sperm a human.

[deleted]

You don't know me. You don't know that!

Some actually do. I know a few. They're obviously also anti masturbation because it's murder.

I don't think these people (should) belong to the same group as "pro-lifers", the people that are against abortion.

yeah, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

They're more about the life happens at conception type of thing, so you'd be wrong there

I'm not going to assume these people have any kind of grasp on reality, you and I might know how zygotes form, but some batshit insane christian could think little angel babies come out of a males "no-no place" and grow in the female "belly"

I'm sure it makes you feel really good thinking you're so much better and smarter than people who disagree with you.

You should see what this prick replied to my comment below. He is indeed one of those people, but even worse.

If they're bat shit insane, I'd doubt it really has anything to do with being a Christian. Usually the bat shit insane ones are insane regardless of their beliefs, political standings and what not. I'm all for disagreeing and holding different beliefs, but let's not bash on people for their beliefs as long as it isn't going to the extreme like ISIS. And pro-lifers that aren't Christians exist, and I for one am a pro-lifer.

ah, so you don't know how zygotes form then. I'm all for people having differing opinions as well, so long as their opinions don't interfere with other people civil rights. You dont have to get an abortion if you don't want to but you do not have the right to tell other people they can't. and speaking about terrorism, how about all those protesters outside planned parenthood heckling young women. That;s terrorism, using terror to get your way politically, and that's not to mention KILLING doctors.

You're using the two extreme fallacy. So if I'm pro choice, I must be a terrorist that is heckling or threatening people to get my way? I in no way was talking offensively towards you, but now that you started it, let me end it. I never said that I was vocal to other people. It's my personal choice and I have yet to ever try to force anyone to take my view. When did I ever say it was ok to heckle others, or use terrorism? You need to get off your fucking high chair, you're not as smart as you think you are. You sure act like you are, but in reality right now you just sound like a close-minded idiot who is just jumping to conclusions. You really make me laugh, you remind me of those extremist feminism who do nothing but shout their beliefs in someone's face and scream at them that everything they're doing is wrong and they're the only right ones, despite the victim not even having done anything to her. Now run along and stop being an assuming-jumping-to-conclusions asshole.

I... I learned something today.

Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite irate.

Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great!

You could say the same thing about some mentally handicapped people, such as Australians.

[deleted]

It has taken you four months and still you haven't worked out that it was a joke? Are you Australian?

potential kids*

half-kids*

I remember having a discussion once about eating a woman's gamete (apparently I'm some sort of monster for even propose it). My argument was that ~~women~~ people swallow sperm and it's a-okay, so why is it utterly disgusting to think of someone doing the same sort of thing but to a woman.

Hmmmm, thinking about it now it could have been the method of extraction I suggested. I was thinking something like jamming a straw in the gal's side, kind of like a juice box.

**edit: Not just women.

Never thought the word juicebox would be so gross.

Kinetic Kids

You need to thank /u/epicblob for your comment

Uh, what did I do?

Holy shit, Louis C.K. is everywhere.

Up and comers.

Happy accidents!

I like to call them.

He's in-famous...like he's MORE than famous!

/r/nocontext

You win the internet today.

And you lose!

Edit: Thanks for the gold!

You can instead directly reply to the person who gilded you.

I feel this is the most undue gilding ever, since you stole that joke from a reply to the dead kids post we are discussing. Grrr.

Or vice-versa.

Why the fuck is that a sub

Because some people are just weird while others are weird as fuck. These guys fall under the w.a.f category.

It is becoming less weird, and more sociopathic. It actually chills me to the bone that people like that stuff.

[removed]

tombofgiants.jpg

Liking the username, wouldyoufuckmejon. Very cute!

Holy shit I made almost that identical "thing" as a Halloween decoration. Took two foam skeletons and some hot glue...no I'm not going to dig it out of the Halloween box to post photo proof. So doubt if you must

/r/ledootgeneration

I'm not necessarily sure most people "like it", I think it may be more a morbid curiosity and an interest in something never really encountered before. I browsed through a good amount of the subreddit and it's generally just pictures with a description of how the kid died. Some people crack jokes about it, but very little stuff there is actually offensive or any more gory than /r/WTF. Maybe I'm just another sociopath, but the subreddit doesn't exactly seem sociopathic to me.

Sociopath is one of the words Reddit loves to throw around recently at anyone they don't agree with or understand.

I think posting pictures of dead kids and things is disgusting and stupid, but I'm more inclined to think it's just people being edgy and morbid rather than actually being sociopaths.

Sociopath is one of the words Reddit loves to throw around recently at anyone they don't agree with or understand.

It's become pretty bad actually. /r/EnoughLibertarianSpam has some sort of crusade against libertarians doing this exact thing.

There must be a reason that they would even want to fucking look at those images. I cannot look at them, because kids are so young and have so much ahead of them. I am also a teacher, so perhaps I am biased, but I look at the students in my classes, and I could not even think of them being dead. That goes for children I have never met as well.

I also don't want to see people beheaded, yet I have watched some of the vids about that on the internet - sometimes it really just is morbid curiosity.

I'm not subbed to the dead kids sub, but I do browse sometimes and I am subbed to /r/morbidreality. I think it's important to be reminded of what we are, that we do these things to each other.

"Best of 2014!"

cringe

It's not always like. Look at /r/wtf. Sometimes it just curiosity, or disgust.

Maybe this particular redditor is autistic, seriously.

He didn't quite understand the social impact and implications of the cumbox admission and proof, and he probably doesn't understand death too well. Autistic people obviously can have feelings, but sometimes it just doesn't register when it's appropriate or when it's not appropriate to do this or that or feel this or that.

Is there a way to never see those subs show up? Like a browse reddit in 'Civilized, non-NSFL' mode?

Isn't non-NSFL just SFL?

It isn't not that

I can't believe you didn't fail to get gold for that double negative!

It took me a while to understand your answer...

I wouldn't disagree

You sound like Hoggle from Labyrinth.

We need another initialism. NNSFL.

Exactly. You want SFL only.

Get that double negation logic out of here!

Yep. It's a double negative

Can't you block entire subreddits? I'll look it up when I get to my pc and let you know

If you have RES you can filter out subs at will. The Pao/FPH drama made my filtered subs list grow by about 100, but I got to view /r/all without the spam. Page 1 and 2 were often just empty, page 3 had a couple links, page 4 had a few, by page 5 everything looked normal.

What is RES? I've seen that mentioned before and idk what it is.

Reddit are actually in the process of this now actually. By "quarantining" some bad subs.

As of yesterday yes. They're called quarantined subs.

Don't subscribe to them, don't use /r/randomnsfw and you are pretty much good

You can filter out stuff in ReS. I have nsfl and a few subs filtered out.

According to a post on r/Announcements yesterday, those subs will be opt-in and "quarantined," though the rules on who qualifies are not yet clear.

Don't click on the sub when it is linked? You won't see the posts unless you are subbed or go to the sub despite it's name.

Not as bad as posting stuff about fat people apparently

It's hard to harass dead children without some sort of satanic blood ritual.

So long as you're not harassing the dead kids it's fine

Dead babies, "cute dead chicks", rape stuff, all that didn't hurt any mods fee-fee's because they arent dead babies, "cute" dead women, or (hopefully) rape victims.

Dead kids aren't alive to see people looking at them. Most of the fat people who showed up on subs like that were alive, and when they found out people were calling them subhuman, they weren't exactly happy about it.

I think the rules of this site allow people to talk about anything they like, as long as they don't fuck with other people on the site. That's why we still have racist subs and creepy subs. Everyone hates them, but the ones who keep to themselves don't get banned. And /r/fatlogic is still around because the mods do their job right.

So is anyone gonna start a /r/fatpeoplehate3 where they only post photos of dead fat people?

Except r/coontown was still a channel even after the hate speach or whatever ban

They didn't have a hate speech ban, they had a harassment ban. They just got rid of coontown as part of the newest update to rules.

I guess I didn't understand the difference. It seemed they both were doing the same things, just directed to 2 different groups

Thank you. No one seems to understand that FPH wasn't banned because of the content, it was banned because they went outside the sub and attacked other users.

it was banned because they went outside the sub and attacked other users

You mean like the entire raison d'etre for SRS?

I can taste the tears.

Buuuuuuullllllllshit

Alright, source?

If that was the reason subs were getting banned around here we old see a lot more things that just FPH gone, namely SRS among others.

[deleted]

And yet they don't. I don't consider what they do "censorship" beyond what is already done in the United States.

We have freedom of speech, but there's still things we can't say, and there's still consequences if we do say them. If you say some racist shit at work, freedom of speech won't save you from getting fired from your job. If you send hate mail to someone's private address, freedom of speech won't save you from getting charged with stalking. If you declare that you want to kill someone, you're going to get arrested. If you say you wanna fuck underage girls, the police will investigate you and most people will not like you. Consequences. Freedom of speech won't negate a broken law.

Similarly, on reddit, you can talk about how much you hate black people, gays, children, fat people etc. as long as you don't harm people. There is an agreement set in place to stay in your sub, and when FPH users went into other subs and started harassing fat gamers or fat suicidal people, and the mods turned a blind eye, they broke that agreement.

If you wanna blame all your life's problems on black people and fat people, go ahead. But don't whine about your freedom when you start bullying people and they seek help.

Of course reddit does not have to give people free speech. But it chooses to try to do so, apparently. It's kind of a big deal for a lot of people that come here.

or people fucking their dogs!

Which is funny because you can change being fat. You can't change being dead.

Dead: the ultimate "muh kundishuns."

I find myself asking that about a lot of subs lately. :I

Why the fuck is that a sub

Edgy teenagers

I'm still wondering why the cute dead chicks subreddit is still a sub. WTF people!?!? I guess though, it's a free internet.

Seriously fucking upsets me how we can have a sub of pictures of dead kids and it's not taken down. Mention someone fat though...

What a strange man

That guy is weirdly interested in ISIS.

If he's Syrian it might make more sense.

Looking at his comment history, I believe that may be the case.

well at least if he does end up being involved we will know who's in possession of the cumbox

Probably lives in Syria.

Holy shit, he's a mod there.

I just looked at his post history.

Then I looked at the top 10 images of /r/eyebleach.

He's famous!

He's a disgusting person. Why am I not surprised...?

*distusting

edit: see below

Explain...

I have repeatedly misread that thread title as "disgusting" and only now understand what was probably part of the joke all along.

I don't get it

Neither do I. I'm not an native English speaker, what does distusting mean?

It's just a typo.

Oh, okay. Thanks!

Did not get it, but got it now. Thank you.

[deleted]

He posts pics of dead kids

He had a cum box

Plus I think someone linked a comment about him hating Jews or something.

To be fair it seems like he uses them to show the cruelty of war. It's mostly after air strikes and stuff like that. Not that I like that but that's what is going on when the news read: "Civilian victims".

If you go to the comments of basically anything he posts (including the pics of dead kids) it's just people referencing his cumbox.

And tells lesbians what happens when cum gets old.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Showerthoughts/comments/34nnxb/if_i_had_jerked_off_just_one_more_time_my_kids/cqy1mvr

And lots of stuff on the Syrian Civil War, makes me think he has an alt somewhere.

Why am I not surprised at all?

What is wrong with some people?

Jesus that's fucked up

I did not believe you. I should have.

I'm taking your word for it

Satt er það

of course that's a fucking subreddit.

The number of such posts is disturbing.

I just saw that. How is tht even allowed to be a subreddit?

Jesus christ you weren't kidding. Just fucking why?

Why the fuck is that a sub reddit...?

I'm not sure why I assumed the man behind the cum box was mentally stable. But that dude is fucked up.

Not even counting the cumbox , his recent post history is just fucking disturbing. They're all about ISIS.

Found this on his comment history. What the fuck:

"I'll give you another sexual deviancy story. My grandmother who had dementia would frequently call me, never made much sense, but she did. I was going through this phase were I fantasized about getting caught masturbating, really turned me on, was close to doing it in public, but never got that far. So whenever she called I would start masturbating and playing porn in the background quite loudly. She would inevitably notice and hang up. Kept going on, and it didn't matter because she has dementia, so she would either forget about the incident or I could just say she was hearing things. Worked out quite well for a bit, was fun."

[deleted]

a shoebox soaked in cum?

a shoebox drenched in cum?

a shoebox caked in cum?

It's caked, since it's layered.

Cum as you are, as you were, As a I wanted you to be...

The most metal thing I'll read today. Should be put to music.

A shoebox basted in cum.

But was it basted by a master baster?

Soaked and drenched imply it maintains its liquidity, though...I guess caked would be the right one? Or perhaps encrusted?

Caked, definitely caked... It's gonna be dry now bro

burned cum.

Burnt, moldy cum.

Early IVF experimentation?

He's not even well adjusted as a crazy loner of one, let alone as a member of society.

also what kind of environment would you have to be raised in for that to either never be found or just left there?

Was he also the guy that pushed those cheap plastic glow necklaces down his urethra before snapping them inside his shaft so they'd activate into glow mode?

EDIT: Found him. [Dirtypeckermoldballs] (https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/1zjwaq/black_chunks_on_my_penis_after_masturbating_made)

I want to have not read that. GIVE ME BACK MY INNOCENCE

Ugh I cringed so hard just now.

Pics or it didn't happen.

It's the guy with the moldy male sex toy. And something about zip ties and accidentally burning his penis. But tens times. More bizarre than what I am describing. I can't find the posts.

I am more curious than I am comfortable with

That made me sad.

Jesus fuck. What the hell, man.

This sounds like it came out of a Palahniuk book.

What the fuck.

Well shit....

Um... what the fuck?

Hahahaha never read something more ridiculous.

He is really active in /r/Syriancivilwar

Pretty interesting comment history

God why did I read through that. He uses a yogurt container now instead of the infamous cumbox. Not many things make me gag on the internet...

I Can Believe It's Not Yogurt Because It Tastes Like Cum

Well said, /u/braised_diaper_shit.

Definitely the new Activia flavor.

Is a yogurt container somehow worse than a box?

Well I'll have a hard time eating yogurt now, I never had a problem eating boxes.

Heres a pic of it he posted. http://imgur.com/lj5Dezr,y1Muye6#0

Oh god lord that's vile.

Want me to find more things that'll make you gag, or no?

Yum smacks lips

Dear god I didn't think it could get worse

Link please.

Yeah you'd think he'd be active in /r/childfree.

Rather you'd hope so

I'd like to think that his chances of procreation are pretty slim.

What exactly does /r/childfree have to do with the Syrian civil war?

Like, super duper active...

Its one of my favorite subreddits.

I was pretty active in the syrian civil war too but Obama swears none of us were ever there. The little fuck shit.

He's probably Arab

That's actually a super interesting subreddit I just discovered.

I didn't know what to expect when I clicked his name. This dude is fucked.

He's just an overall messed up guy, he needs to seek professional help.

I think he's getting off to the fact that a bunch of complete strangers are talking about how depraved he is lol

From unidan?

He functions just fine in society though. He's just interested in other things

although he's using yogurt containers now because his box died

What the fuck?! We can't blast fat people on this site but Reddit is cool with a subreddit filled with pictures of dead children? I don't get it.

Went too deep... Holy shit bestgore.com

Thanks for introducing me to that sick fuck.

This guy literally grew life in his cumbox...

Why is it that you can see the things that he's up/downvoted?

Why haven't anyone called out on that cum box story? He said the first 4 pics was 2-3 years. Some days afterward he posted another pic of the same box full of mold. The box wouldn't have changed so much in just several days after 2-3 years.

Don't... Don't think about it, that much. Just, let it go and think of puppies and kittens, man... Puppies and kittens...

Somehow to me, /u/pantip's comment sounds like Gilfoyle talking.

He noted at the time that he had 20,000 views of his worst shame.

I just checked and it's over 7 million. People have seen the most EMBARRASSING thing of this guy's life 7 million times.

Awesome.

Somehow I doubt this guy is embarrassed by much

At least 3 of those views are me. So much shame.

Imagine being in a city nearly the size of London, everyone knows. Damn.

How do you check the number of views that a comment got?

Gonna assume its the imgur link

Ah, thanks.

l kind of want a link. I think. Not sure if curious or disbelieving, but I think I want a link. Link me?

i had to check it out earlier today. the best was when he said "i have created life" hahahah.

I wonder if that other guy really did buy it

/u/xLowDown

"Elaborate on the cum box" - The words that changed Reddit forever.

Edit: And the comment that gets me to 50,000 karma is talking about the cum box... fitting really, I suppose...

Honestly, I wasn't too put out by the whole thing. Everyone seems to act like it was this horrific thing that challenged their perspective on humanity, but when I read about it, I thought. "dude, that's kind of nasty" and moved on.

It was more about the way he told a story about something else and then casually brings up the cumbox like its a normal thing.

That other thing he was talking about was stealing from his dead cousins room, which is also pretty messed up.

yeah, that was gold, no doubt.

To be fair, it was a thing on 4Chan that a lot of people posted.

Wins the award for "burying the lead".

Yeah. Plus I've seen the guy on 4 chan who has been cumming in 2 liter bottles for years.

Once you've seen one compulsive semen collector you've seen them all.

I don't know man. There are few things more gag inducing than the idea of a shoebox caked in 3 year old cum, rotting in someone's closet.

Yeah, some people were saying it made them gag and such; I had a similar reaction to you--glad I'm not just desensitized or something.

Did you see the dog one? The rest were fine but got to that one and noped the fuck out of that thread

Well when it started growing mold… that's pretty disgusting. Otherwise, meh.

This edit is even more ridiculous than the "I can't believe my top post is about..."

Dude no one cares about your karma

At least I'm not getting over dramatic over it like everyone does when they get gold and do a full on award acceptance speech. I hit a milestone, I'm just acknowledging it. I'm not expecting anyone to care about my karma really, or shower me with praise, just wanted to comment on it.

just don't edit the post. make a reply to it.

Make a reply to myself...?

yeah like this:

OMG i cant believe my top comment is about cats and dogs fighting to the death! reddit your so randum!

Never actually looked at the pictures before.

I always considered myself to have a high tolerance for disgusting and a strong stomach.

I finally looked at the pictures and fucking gagged. Hard. Almost puked. Was not prepared.

Did you look at the ones with the mold?

I wish I hadn't.

His mom is technically a cumbox. Except 9 months later, he was born instead of mold.

Nope. Still mold.

The fuck is a cumbox?

Exactly as it sounds.

Sadly, you're spot on.

No it's not. What type of box is it? What is it made of? I think we can all be sure due to the spelling of "cum" that we're talking about ejaculate. Scientifically we have two possibilities for the latter:

.

a) cum (as in 28mph)

b) cum (as in static or dribbled).

.

These will make two different noises. We now need to consider the material box itself. Cardboard? Metal? etc. The former might make a thud (assuming (a)) whereas the latter might make a ping (assuming (a)).

.

Now, I think the thread might be concerned with the slapping noise made against a vagina prior to the ejaculate occurring rather than the result of a microphone placed within said cumbox. This is, of course (a) and before anyone decides to launch a tirade against myself, first have an answer as to how we know cum does about 28mph. Some fucker stuck some sensor way up there to measure the impact way before this thread evolved. ;-)

I think you have over thought this...

I didn't start it. It was the bloke/woman who first decided to measure the speed of human sperm. ;-)

Don't find out. Please.

Believe me, I wish I hadn't. Very few things nauseate me anymore, but this did. Queazy as fuck now. God …

You really really don't want to know.

Here is the link to the thread.

It is true to the name. It's just a box that he would jizz in every time he purged the evil from his holy scepter.

Did it for years till he had a fucked up box full of old, dried up spunk. If memory serves me right, he tried to light it on fire but it went badly.

Check the link. It's about 4 posts down (main posts, not replies)

You're in for a treat.

You chose a book for reading

You must be new here. Welcome!

It's in the thread mentioned above. The whole thing is a good read.. if you like being grossed out, of course.

You may think you want to know but you really don't

Guy says he stole money from his dead cousin and people focus on the box.

If you look at the stats on the photos you can see that there was a recent spike on veiws... thanks a lot.

AND MY AXE!!

No its not. It belongs to /u/xLowDown now.

Jolly Roger!

I just love how casual he is at first.

Ah, old school. Right up there with Bozarking. Good times.

You have a box? The rest of us can merely dream of a sock.

I really wish people would stop mentioning the cumbox. The thing is, that unlike my other emotional scars from Reddit, the cumbox story just makes me gag every time I see it mentioned. It really ruins my reddit experience to be constantly reminded of this disgusting story over and over again. I REALLY just want to forget it forever.

ALL GLORY TO THE CUMBOX

Leave my Jolly Ranchers out of this...

What the hell is that? I have seen a lot of people make references to it but something tells me I don't actually want to see it...

Nothing big here, just a box that I jack off into

why do i not see that comment in the original thread or in his comment history??

And there's the Ask a Rapist thread that is always an intriguing read. Lots of great stuff in there.

Ummmm no. But some of its archived in the museum of reddit.

What happened?

Nuked. There was a lot of controversial material, as you can imagine.

Just sifted through the archived stories... interesting stuff, but at least half of those seemed fake

I have cum pants but it's not as cool and you can't tell as much because it's not as much liquid when I cum cuz I'm a girl. You can totally tell if you look close I haven't washed them in a while.

A lot of redditors seem to fuck their cousins, what the hell is up with that?

I'm not of this school of thought, but it's apparently VERY common to see "fucking cousins" as either not really incest or just not as bad as brother/sister incest.

Or just a lot of Redditors have hot cousins I guess.

Well genetically speaking, full sibling incest is 4 times worse. The brother/sister coefficient of incest is 25% and a first cousin coefficient of incest is 6.25%. Still not as close to 0 as you'd like, but you could do worse than first cousin incest.

What is it for 2nd cousins?

I don't know if I have any, but if turns out that I do, well, knowing's half the battle.

Tiny, once you're past 1st cousins there's no difference between them and a random person on the street.

There is a difference, but it's negligible in comparrison.

Pedantry!

Pedantry!

It's the reddit way!

Good lord, the pedantry is so bad sometimes, I was thinking of an example where it happened to me, but the difference they pointed out was so small when I went to check, that it wasn't actually different. It was literally the same thing I said just phrased differently.

Like... god damn.

Good to know. Thanks!

Unless your family has a lot of only children, you almost certainly have second cousins. Second cousins ate people who have a shared great grandparent.

If it makes it easier to understand, imagine your first cousin having a child and you having a child. Those children would be second cousins.

I think you men that second cousins are people, not "ate" people, with the same great grandparents.

Because then we would end up with very few 2nd cousins running around. And a butt load of cannibals.

But if you have a condom what's actually the harm?

This guy has the right train of thought.

Did you say train? CHOO CHOO!

For regular people it's like 3% lol

I actually think I read somewhere that fucking your cousin isn't much worse that fucking someone from your village in retarded kids rate

Actually there is data that says there are pheromones emitted by similar HLA(genes) that would likely be more common between cousins. It makes cousins SMELL good...

There are no human pheromones. There is bacteria. But it does the opposite of what you say. People prefer the smell of people with different resistances, (which leads to different bacteria). This leads to healthier babies.

The only time you're correct is of a woman is on the pill, because it changes her preference to men who smell the same, because it makes her body think it's pregnant and during pregnancy the preference changes.

Actually, there may be data that bacteria may play a role, we think it is linked to generating diversity/similarities with HLA molecules. Women are attracted to someone slightly similar to their HLA, but different (read cousin). However, once you are pregnant (on the pill), you are more attracted to people who are more like you (even MORE similar). So MHC/HLA pheromones. Where have you seen the microbiota is involved in mating selection?

You mostly just repeated what I said, lol. The only source I remember of the top of my head is the red queen by Matt Ridley, but I've seen the study commonly cited.

The bacteria thing is related to why we have sex in the first place, (to "change up" immunities to resist quick reproducing parasites). If you reproduced with a partner with the same resistances then your offspring will be vulnerable to the same diseases you are. Mating with someone with different ones forced the bacteria to have to evolve to bypass those vulnerabilities. The smell of someone is related to the bacteria they aren't resistant to.

This changes when a woman is pregnant presumably so they prefer the company of their kin who will take care of them while they're vulnerable, which is fine because they aren't able to have more kids anyways. The pill reverses their preference for the smell of bacteria because her body "thinks" it's pregnant.

My understanding is that there is no human pheromone, although many have tried, (it would be a big seller if imagine). The closest thing would be female ejaculate, which will cause men to rate women as more attractive while being exposed to small amounts of it vs. water vapor for the control. I have heard of no equivalent for men on women besides bacteria that signals different genes.

I'm not a biologist, but I like reading about the subject. So I could be wrong, or exaggerating parts, but that's my understanding.

I am a Ph.D in microbiology. you said bacteria. nothing about what you said with bacteria makes sense. But...if you replace HLA/MHC for what you said, there is data/papers out there that support that.

Mating with someone will change the bacteria in your genitourinary tract, living with someone will change (some) of your microbiome.

Mating has nothing to do with changing bacterial evolution.

It changes resistances by mixing up the genes people have for them. Asexual reproduction will have greater reproductive success, but organisms with long periods between generations almost always have sex. The reason being that parasites and bacteria will not be able to specialize in that species offspring as easily. It's why the cloning of bananas is considered a problem. They don't mix up their resistances to diseases that kill bananas.

The bacteria in your armpits signifies what resistances you have, by it omitting certain smells. If there were only two types that you could have, then a woman with type a would have more success with a male of type b. If they both had type a then diseases that affected type a would have no issues affecting their children.

Maybe were talking about the same thing and I'm just using layman's terms? I'm not as familiar with hlas as you seem to be, but I think we're saying the same thing except your referring to what causes the immunities, and I'm saying the bacteria that can reside with those kinds of immunities are what has the effect. Do the hlas reside in sweat? Because the bacteria do, and women have shown a preference for sweat from males with different resistances unless they're pregnant.

It still wouldn't be a pheromone either way since smelling an hla doesn't cause a change in behavior, like in an insect. It's just a basis for selection.

For what it's worth, genetically even full sibling is unlikely to have problems until a few generations down the line (if repeated), unless there are some nasty recessives lurking in the gene pool.

Socially, however....

What does the coefficient of incest mean?

It's a numeric value that indicates genetic inbreeding:outbreeding and the likelihood of inheriting recessive diseases more or less. A value closer to 1 (100%) means very inbred and a high chance of concentrating rare recessive alleles.

The theoretical mating of two identical twins would have a 100% coefficient of inbreeding; their offspring would have a 1/4 chance of having a recessive disease at any location that the parents were carriers (heterozygous). Not great.

Conversely, the mating of two incredibly unrelated individuals would theoretically yield 0 (0%). Realistically once you get past first cousin incest, the value sits around 3% for everyone less related than that. Humans have been around awhile and have outbred a lot via conquests and colonialism, we all share some ancestors somewhere in the gene pool so it doesn't ever get to 0. And first cousins don't really have an increased risk of pooling rare genetic diseases if the incest is a one-off. But if they're royalty or the oft-stereotyped small town "hick" type of family, an increased rate of first-cousin incest over many generations will cause some serious issues.

Incest is gross, but not for genetic reasons. Carriers of the same bad recessive gene still marry and have kids.

Between siblings yeah but amongst cousins (especially 2nd and 3rd) it really doesn't cause genetic defects

Also not sure what you mean? You say it's gross, not for genetic reasons, then proceed to list a genetic reason.

Couples who share a bad recessive aren't always close relatives, though they do tend to be from the same ethnic group. Laying aside social stigma, the kid is probably better off with sibling parents than with two otherwise unrelated Tay-Sachs carriers.

Ahh okay gotcha. Misread your comment

There's actually biology behind it.

Also it's totally legal in lots of places in the world

Explain?

Something to do with being a close enough relation that their features are similar to our own, but not having grown up from a young age you don't have a built ew response..

There's a name for this, but I'm on mobile and too lazy to Google it.

I feel a little relieved to know there's an explanation for this. Family reunions were tough as a hormonal young boy, I thought it was just me.

I think it might be "Genetic Sexual Attraction".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_sexual_attraction

those real life examples are going to haunt me for a while

See also: Accidental incest

Not sure if Wikipedia is just taking the piss out of me

Twins separated at birth, half siblings because dad was a man slut etc

Essentially Iceland

I bet if I had a clone I'd probably be gay for me.

I must know more.

science bitch

I'm of the mind that two consenting people can do what they want. Having children is awful cause of the whole gene thing. But just fuckin? Hell, why not?

Les Cousins Dangereux

Damn shelbyvillians.

It's also perfectly legal in a lot of NotAmerica. At my first midwife appointment I was asked if I shared a grandparent with the father of the baby.

Lotta Shelbyville redditors

Uhh, because they are hot. Why else?

Jebediah Springfield: People, our search is over! On this site we shall build a new town where we can worship freely, govern justly, and grow vast fields of hemp for making rope and blankets.

Shelbyville Manhattan: Yes! And marry our cousins.

Jebediah Springfield: I was- wha... what are you talking about, Shelbyville? Why would we want to marry our cousins?

Shelbyville Manhattan: Because they're so attractive. I... I thought that was the whole point of this journey.

Death to Shelbyville!

Because they're willing?

Because my cousin is Maeby why else?

[deleted]

Apparently there are no qualms about it in Japanese culture. I remember watching a couple of anime shows where the love interest was a cousin and I was shocked at how normal it seemed.

It's actually normal in a lot of cultures.

I think America and a couple European countries are the only places it's taboo. Most places are totally fine with it, if not fullblown incest.

In Brazil it's definitely uncommon and weird, but it's not seen as incest in a lot of regions. Is it literally illegal in the USA?

To get married, yes, as first cousins it's illegal in many states. Wikipedia has a good a page about it.

It's legal here in beautiful South Carolina. So is marriage at 14 without parental consent. But you can't buy liquor after 7:00 or at all on Sundays.

So is marriage at 14 without parental consent.

This sounds like the type of thing that would have gotten me and my high school friends in trouble in freshman year. "Haha, you hear what I just found out? Let's go make our parents freak out!!!! Hahaha."

"Haha, sure, I'm game cuz!"

After 7!? What a strange place.

Liquor stores are owned by the state and close at 7:00 PM. Thankfully I live near the NC border if I have a booze emergency, and beer and wine are available everywhere.

At least you can get beer and wine

It depends on what state you're in. "Moral" laws are decided on the state level, not the federal one. It's not illegal everywhere.

Interestingly, it's illegal in more states to marry your cousin than it is to practice beastiality. Mostly just because they didn't bother to make it a law against it, it is still not okay by any means to do it and likely falls under "animal abuse" laws.

If we're talking anime, there are quite a few with siblings as love interests.

I've never thought that way about any of my first cousins, but there is a second cousin I've met twice in my life, and she was pretty cute. Would I fuck her? Hell no. Have I fantasized about her? Hell yes. Shit, I don't even remember her name to be honest.

Why wouldn't you?

I just...I don't know, that's a weird line that I don't think I could actually cross. I guess guilt is the biggest reason. I wouldn't even care if it was "awkard" since I've seen here twice in 28 years, so that's not really an issue.

Well, it's an entirely subjective thing I guess. Not sure where the guilt would come from though. Who would you be betraying?

Exactly how it sounds.

My cousins are ugly as fuck or are on drugs so I can't really sympathize, but to try to my first assumption is that they are not really that close in the blood line to you depending on certain circumstances so the taboo is still there, but it's not so bad that it grosses you out.

My second assumption is that family tends to trust opposite genders in the same family sharing the same space alone during the night, so you take two hormone fueled teenagers who would bang probably anything that would be willing to, it won't take much to throw away a few social implications if you get caught. Getting that dick wet/pussy fucked is worth it, even if it's your cousin.

Sex, cousins, maybe most of them were lying for the sweet sweet karma.

Nobody lies on the internet.

They get asked to set up family computers?

They're all from Shelbyville.

I feel like this is a strangely common fantasy. I wonder if reddit or are just living it out on the internet.

Ah man, I just bought a house and I often think of that bunker story. I dug up a wooden board in the back yard last month and almost had a panic attack.

What's that one??

A story of how a guy sold his house but failed to mention that he had a bunker built in the backyard. He was coming and going early in the morning and late at night; he was living in that bunker for months.

Bunker story?

Some guy sold his house and secretly lived in the bunker that was one the property; that he told nobody about. Creepy.

That guy later admitted to making the story up.

I make up all my stories.

[non sequitur]

Which post/story is this in relation to? Sounds interesting.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/t0ynr/throwaway_time_whats_your_secret_that_could/c4zrenn

I just spent a half hour reading through it. It's a good one. For a 3 year old thread, the suicide guy updated his post as of yesterday and has been periodically over the years.

well screw you, i clicked and all the sudden its' 3am.

Such a good thread. It's a shame that the ones people have tried to make never turn out as great.

The top comment in that thread could easily be a romantic-comedy.

That one was a lie

also all of the rest of them are too

Guys. It's all better now. He threw away the cumbox and now uses yogurt containers.

You just gave me an amazing idea involving Gogurt tubes...

This is glorious

This was posted the day I joined reddit with my first account, gave me some crazy expectations about how interesting reddit is.

The thread that hooked me.

That thread kills my tablet, which is why I haven't read much of it.

Thank you for this.

"Bertha.. You see that apple there? It's red." dies

Spent about 3 hours on that, thanks! (Half sarcastic due to the time wasted, half serious because it was interesting)

I just spent about 2 hours reading through that post and I was either severely saddened or greatly disgusted or somewhere in between. I've never felt so many varying and intense emotions after reading something before.

Holy fuck. 3 hours ago I started reading through there. Thank you.

i've read every single comment, and they're all good.

You also wrote it, so... I want my hours and sanity back

I've been browsing there since the minute you made your comment.......

We need an updated one. There has however been a few but they never lived up to the first

And there goes 2 hours..

36,000 comments. Couple of months reading there then.

I still check this thread once every few months or so. It's so oddly satisfying to read through all the stories and responses.

Some guy started illustrating the stories by the way.

We need a new secrets thread.

Welp. This made my six hour work shift fly by. Thanks.

is this the cum box one?

That is still my favorite thread on the entirety of Reddit.

I got lost for days on that thing.

I love the innocuous ones like the cake...

lol an edit in that thread from 2 days ago.

Not us Brits though. Learn another language? Don't make me laugh.

2015 Update: I am currently learning Spanish...

I love how a lot of the posts were updated just a few weeks ago

This thread needs a sequel.

i really hate you for bringing me to this thread...now i cant stop reading....a brother who fucked his sister, a guy who read his now fiances diary to be with her, this is just juicier than a fucking cantaloupe

One fucking hour ago I opened that thread and I've only come out for food and a joint. SO much incest.

I read that a couple of months ago, that one about the guy whose mom dressed him up as a little girl, though....

I didn't want to know that there was such a thing as a cum box.... I can't believe I clicked the link to look at the picture. Was that a candle that a candle that he lit in the middle?

I've never read so many stories where I've realized how thankful I am for my life afterwards. What a mindjob going through that.

Just spent three hours on there... Read everything at once. I don't know what to think about life.

And I rush out, gasping for air, after a full hour stuck in that rabbit hole.

Thank you for posting this.

That is the most immersive reddit post of all time. Spent three whole hours reading about incest, a guy who's spent three years pretending to be Australian, insurance fraud getaways, and someone who shoved shit into a wall.

Second comment shown on this page and I have not left the Throwaway page since. Juicy!

Coincidentally, /u/brumsmithy just edited(https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/t0ynr/throwaway_time_whats_your_secret_that_could/c6smh02) his original comment 2 years later.

Welp, got sucked back in, have the urge to confess things, to lazy to try and start a new confession thread. Oh well

They should do a new reddit post

I've had that one open in a browser tab on my work computer for two weeks and am still working my way through it. I think I have about 17,000 left to go. I laugh, I cry, I don't get any work done.

One of my favorite posts

I run a cake business. I charge people hundreds for wedding cakes... Every last one is made using Pilsbury cake mix I buy for $1 a box at Walmart. I suck at baking. Every time I've ever tried to make a cake from scratch it sucked. But baking is like.. My whole deal. My friends all call me the cake girl. It's like my whole life is a lie. People compliment my cakes all the time. Telling me how delicious they are. Telling me it's so much better than box mix cake. Telling me they could never bake a cake so delicious. Well guess what? For $1, they too can make a cake just as delicious. Just add oil, eggs and water. In my defense, I love cake decorating. I make all of the frostings and fondant from scratch. I just hate baking fucking cakes!! I base my prices mostly on the decoration of the cakes and not of the cake itself of that makes sense. Still... No one knows about this except my husband. Even my best friends think I fucking slave over the oven mixing and baking these damn cakes. I have been doing this for YEARS. If anyone knew my business and reputation would be in the toilet for sure. :/ I keep telling myself I have to learn how to make the damn cakes without the box mixes, but I never do it. I feel like such a sham sometimes.

Ah, yes. The thread that first lured me into Reddit.

Good to know that thread is still being updated.

Wtf.

http://imgur.com/egmyMMu

TIL reddit has posts that make teddy history in which they are just for readers amusement and can't be commented on. You've just opened the door to many more lost hours to enjoyment, I'll be sure to give my employer your condolences for all of the hours of work I'm about to kill.

Wow. The one about being tricked with the whole imaginary girlfriend thing is sad. I'm glad the OP came back and updated it with good news, though.

Whoa...that rabbit hole was more than I can handle after 3 hours of reading. Whoa.

We need another throwaway time. Reading their posts is interesting.

I just read that whole thing...it changed me

I've never read every single comment on a reddit post that long before.

What a dark horribly twisted web of evil I just read.

one of the greatest of all-time

I started reading this at around 9 am today, I didnt get any work done with the amount of shit I read through there....holy fuck. I got to the Athiest priest and called it quits after that since it's now 4 pm and I have to go home lol

I just jumped into a time warp for 6 hours. What year is it?!

This is the topic that drew me to reddit. I love it.

I just read the entire thread. I think I'm initiated to Reddit now

Gotta love those creepy threads.

I can't wait for the next one.

what about a collection of all of them ever?

{edit: Don't thank me, thank /u/vaguepagan }

[deleted]

As I opened the link and read your comment it was 4:34AM here...

Bless you, you beautiful human being.

Number one: thanks. Number two: does anyone know of a collection of threads similar to this? It was like this except it was just creepy threads/stories in general. Believe in had "compendium" in the title.

There goes my nights.

Yesssss this is way better than searching for "spooky" or "creepy" or whatever and hoping I stumble on something I haven't read yet.

Haha I was wondering where the sudden rush of new comments was coming from! I posted that a few weeks ago. Thanks for the mention.

It's such a tremendous collection! Saved the post and have been sharing it with everyone. We're all very grateful for the time and effort you put into it c:

No problem! I love reading them and I'm glad everyone else does too!

Great collection

I hear ya my friend I love reading some of the stories i see on askreddit.

That's what I'm doing right now!

Also, people can get an idea of the typical questions, so people don't keep repeating the same questions every week.

Hate when I find myself trying to comment or upvote.

I also loves me so much.

I don't even care if they're real or not as long as they're entertaining

It's where most commonly used reddit references come from too

I totally agree. This is where I go when I really need time to fly by

I've always wondered if the rice guy REALLY ate those things with rice or just bullshitted through the whole thread.

You know what also gets me into a rabbit hole?
Penis

Jolly Rancher

Agreed. This sub reminds me of how Bolt used to be.

And of course /r/bestof banned /r/askreddit posts because, yaknow, reasons.

If this thread gets to the top we could send this guy into an infinite loop

More like some crazy lies.

/r/AccidentalComedy - Things that weren't intentionally made to be funny, but end up hilarious.

/r/DeepIntoYouTube - Weird, interesting YouTube videos

/r/ObscureMedia - Mostly films, shorts, PSAs, and TV shows that are obscure

/r/wheredidthesodago - Gifs of infomercials taken out of context

/r/CleverEdits - A new sub, but definitely worth checking out, of edits people made to videos that usually make them funnier

/r/TheWayWeWere - Photos documenting what normal everyday life was for people in the past

/r/UnresolvedMysteries - I've gotten lost for hours looking through posts and reading the linked articles

/r/ColorizedHistory - Black and white photographs beautifully brought to life with color by talented users

/r/wowthissubexists - You'll get lost finding new subs

/r/shittyreactiongifs - Title pretty much says it all

/r/threadkillers is a good one too

Heh, I get it.

I just realized that you said this because his comment was a /r/threadkiller and that you weren't just adding to the list

Relevant username.

Man r/unresolvedmysteries to too good.

I've never clicked on it before because I knew I would lose so much time in there.

I didn't expect it to be that sad though.

I watched and loved Unsolved Mysteries as a kid, it should not be surprising to me that the sub is awesome.

I like that sub too, but I would hardly call my comment a threadkiller, which seems to be what you're implying.

According to the sidebar of the sub a threadkiller is:

a top-level comment that provides just about every answer to the thread's original question: An answer so comprehensive that it quite literally kills the reddit thread.

I provided 10 subs, out of thousands, that all fit what OP was asking for and even included a brief description of what each sub was.

I made an effort to showcase some smaller subs that I like, and am not sure what to think of a low effort comment like yours.

calm your tits. he was joking

You definitely killed this thread though.

Jeez, dude, chill. It was pretty much a compliment...

Yeah you're right, its definitely not a thread killer, but it is s good comment. I was just being funny. Reddit isn't serious business :).

[deleted]

Thanks, I know I should ignore, but I didn't and actually had to edit myself, since they said more than linking a sub.

Do you know if there's a text based /r/thewaywewere I can browse at work?

I was reading Michael Caines books recently and it was interesting to hear about life during WW2 for a guy in the slums and stuff. Should be interesting to hear about all different decades from different people.

/r/AskHistorians covers those topics pretty regularly, might just want to browse through top posts

Just go in his channel - h3h3productions. It's the only YouTube channel I watch every single video.

/r/wheredidthesodago was the best subreddit for a good while, but then the posts became low quality and reposting was rampant. The mods didnt want to do anything about it. Hopefully their top of all time is the oldies

/r/youtubehaiku fits in there as well

Commenting for later

Thanks man, AccidentalComedy bits had me in tears lol

Commenting so I don't lose this.

/r/bigdickproblems (which I'm sure you already subscribe to, right?) is pretty hilarious. NSFW obvious.

Is /r/cleveredits a more broad /r/commercialcuts?

Yes, they do movies too.

It's much smaller. Commercial cuts has about 10 times the userbase.

You're the best.

i'm on the second page of /r/AccidentalComedy's top posts of all time :') I forgot about that

Those are awesome!

Some of these are brand new to me.

Also /r/4chan

/r/TheWayWeWere - Photos documenting what normal everyday life was for people in the past

The Top of All Time kinda doesn't go past 1950s+ America trough.

/r/ObscureMedia is a must. 2:30am at a 7-11 near Disney World - 1987 is one of the greatest things on the internet.

That 9/11 clip on /r/ObscureMedia is chilling. That's probably the most raw emotion I've ever seen.

Damn. This will be entertaining

You include deepintoyoutube but not /r/youtubehaiku?

I now have so many tabs open

All of these are great

Do not read /r/UnresolvedMysteries in the middle of the night!

Pretty much all new to me. Thanks.

Speaking of being deep in YouTube, I once felt like watching how some stuff was made (can't quite remember what it was). I kept following "interesting" related videos, and some time later, I found myself watching a guy flushing Cheerios down the toilet, what the fuck YouTube?

gifs are so fucking weird, why do people always use that shit?

That these are getting upvoted really demonstrates the decline in content here.

Cheers for the list! Subbed to all.

You should add /r/youtubehaiku to the list.

Holy shit I'm used to reading horrible shit, but after some clicking through unresolvedmysteries I ended up with a detailed story about the dutroux case. Of course I knew about the case but god damn the horrible stuff I read there made me feel numb

The descriptions are what get me with /r/shittyreactiongifs

Commenting for later

/r/ObscureMedia - Mostly films, shorts, PSAs, and TV shows that are obscure

Love it, maybe because I'm old enough to remember a lot of the stuff posted -- and because I also love weird media from the couple decades before I came of age (in the 70's -- so I love weird stuff from the 60's, and even the 50's).

Thanks eD! Commenting to save for later.

/r/Nosleep is a good one

Creator of /r/cleveredits here. So this is why we have had over 1200 subscribers join in one day!

Haha yeah. Great sub, found it the other day and instantly loved it. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I couldn't have done it without my team of mods.

Using alien blue and can't seem to find the save comment function so I'm submitting a reply to find it later

Aaaaand commenting to save it for later

r/idontworkherelady and r/talesfromretail are pretty good time wasters :)

/r/TalesFromYourServer is my favourite of that genre

:( sub is not about web servers

/r/talesfromtechsupport is what you're looking for.

Haha got that one already. I was sort of hoping it was from the perspective of servers...

"Got a GET request today that creates a resource. Fucking amateurs."

...guess there's not a lot of demand for that tho.

I love this idea and would totally lurk if you created it.

So like an /r/outside esque from the perspective of servers? Id read that. Start that shit up .

/r/talesfromyourwebmaster perhaps?

/r/techsupportgore sometimes, /r/software for sometimes

@sadserver on twitter

That is a very niche humor.

'Server' is such a weird word in this context!

I was already wonderin how my servers were going to tell me story

Application 6/8- 10:55 AM - IIS has encountered an unspecified error.

I try.

Thought it was gonna be some raging Minecraft players. D:

Basically a circle jerk or restaurant personnel bitching about getting stiffed on tips. There's the odd good post; but not worth subscribing to.

dude! im glad you like it. anytime one of these threads pop-up asking about text-based subreddits i will sometimes search - and hope for - TFYS. i created that sub one day when i was really mad after work one day and it just sat for a good couple of months until i got the sub noticed in a few places and it really took off. i think within like the first 3 or 4 months of actively promoting it, i got around 10,000 subscribers. I had to stop moderating after i joined the navy, but it was fun while it lasted. we were even sub of the day or something like that. I think its a fun little fact about myself. i have several different awards and what not since i've joined, but one of the things in most proud of is that i created a mildly (very mildly) successful subreddit - and that it is someones favorite! (of that genre). its kind of peaked where it's at right now, but still the thought I managed to reach nearly 30 some odd thousand people a day because i was pissed off at work, is great. i love the internet sometimes.

heck yeah! you just made my day.

The name Idontworkherelady already cracked me up, this is gonna be good

I liked this one a lot. Hadn't seen it before.

That was a nice read, quick and had some humor.

I like that he got the employee discount

fucking spoiler alert!

yup, later.

I like it when the red water comes out

If I have to scroll down to finish the story it isn't "quick". IMO

You certainly dug deep, as it was the first post if you sorted by top, all time.

Was thinking the same thing lol anything for the karma

I swear, /u/Iranian Genius, I see you everywhere in here...

Thanks for the rec; left it with a smile.

Op was cool, in the comments a guy said he was going to try the drink and op actually checked up on him a few days later.

thats LITERALLY the top post all time.....

I think it's because it's addressed to a mysterious "lady."

I was laughing because I can hear the negative tone behind lady. No one calls a woman lady unless it's in a very specific tone.

As can be /r/talesfromtechsupport

Confirmed. Binge read for most of a day last week, enjoyed all of it.

You should especially read the posts of /u/ThatLinuxIT and /u/36055512.

I enjoy quite a few authors from that place. I get both /u/Airz23 and /u/Gambatte in RSS so I never miss their stories. Sadly, Airz has been busy so it's been a few weeks since the last post. /u/Bytewave is also another great author in the subreddit.

Don't forget some of the others, even though they might not have posted for a while - /u/tuxedo_jack, /u/TalesFromTechSupport, /u/chhopsky, the list goes on...

Yes... I do forget the names. I always look for the stories though.

I'm not sure what I would do with my time if I didn't have TFTS to read.

People still remember me! I'm so honored. Like a Huawei honor!

I'm sorry. I sold out.

Like we could forget you!

I forgot me. Maybe I should post a story again.

Hey, hey, hey, I just threw one up two weeks or so. I've been BUSY.

Definitely not a knock on you, or anyone else on the list - true art takes time!

aw you're too kind *blush*

And you can't forget takes from a dishonest car dealership

yea... I did forget about those. But man are those awesome stories.

Oi!

Not me, I'm just an average writer.

I have found /u/36055512's stories to be somewhat funny.

If you call yourself average, then I'm a genuinely shitty writer. But I have always considered myself to be a decent writer. So something doesn't add up...

Wait, you only read most of it, but enjoyed ALL of it? This guys a phoney!

/u/Gambatte, /u/Bytewave, /u/lawtechie, and /u/Gonzomojo are all highly recommended.

I spent hours one day reading the multi-part (20+ parts IIRC) story of the guy who got a new IT manager who knew nothing of IT, but was placed there to shake things up. That is a great read.

Ah, I wish /u/airz23 still posted...what happened to those keyboards?

And /r/talesfromthesquadcar

Apparently I've been to subscribed to /r/talesfromcavesupport for some time now, but only recently did it show up on my front page.

tfts is my life now that I've been working on an IT helpdesk for a decently sized company. The stories speak to me on a spiritual level

I have to strongly disagree with /r/idontworkherelady being a pretty good time waster for All Time Top Posts. The number one top post was fairly entertaining, the second one was a neat story, then it really starts going downhill. Lady with PTSD losing her shit at Costco is a terrible story. Guy who got an IT call at home was just an asshole.

The rest are just people writing up stories about how they disarmed some asshole at a store by giving this implausibly long, clearly fictitious speech.

I enjoyed the first two but then it just reeks of /r/quityourbullshit I'm surprised they didn't end with the whole store giving OP a round of applause and a lifetime discount

I saw it as more of /r/thathappened material.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! I got to the third one and the whole speech by her "BH" made my face hurt.

That and the sidebar says

Please do not reply with "/r/ThatHappened", etc. You do not have to trust the validity of the story, but if you doubt a story, just downvote and move on. Playing "Reddit Truth Police" is a good way to get yourself banned.

"Come here to tell your stories where you got a standing ovation for your bravery and everyone will believe you!"

Some of my favorite quotes so far:
-"In fact she just stands there staring at me for another five minutes."
-" I have PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder so crowds and loud noises are really hard for me to handle at times. The BH is not only my partner in life but also acts as my emotional lifeline if I get triggered."
-"Me: So...um...yeah...you're kind of a bitch."
-"Before I leave, he stops me and as a thank you he gives me a $200 gift card to the store as a "commission" for the stuff I sold to these people."

It's like a feeder subreddit for /r/thathappened.

/r/quityourbullshit

That's the first thing I thought, that and the fact that the sidebar says not to mention /r/ThatHappened and I'm like of course, makes sense.

We're updating our policy on that.

I quit reading /r/thathappened a looooong time ago because it was just far too cynical a place for me. I don't need that level of skepticism in my life.

/r/pettyrevenge turned into that for me. It used to be great, but now it is just assholes responding to assholes.

The Top post already reeks of bullshit.

Thank you. I could not believe no one even questioned the veracity of such a story. "So you must be the great employee I keep hearing about." The security guard at the liquor store? Reeks.

The entire time people are coming up to me asking me questions on where to find this,

Dude, I used to work in a store, you get like, 2, 3 customers after one another, tops. Nobody would get anything done if "The entire time people are coming up to you".

Indeed. I was pretty flabbergasted by the one where the guy supposedly went to huge lengths to prove to a complete stranger that he didn't work at a place, including calling up his actual employer.

Seriously? You didn't just tell the person to fuck off, and go on about your day, when it became obvious that they were unreasonable to a gentle correction on the issue?

Because that's what actually happened, then OP thought up what he would have liked to have done to make a good story to post on Reddit.

"And the store's name? Albert Einstein."

I enjoy the sub, but I find the good ones rarely get the top. No idea why, but only the bullshit ones get heavily up voted. It's bizarre.

It reeks of /r/thathappened, not /r/quityourbullshit. The difference is /r/thathappened shows screenshots of stories that sound untrue (so it's more focused on humor), while /r/quityourbullshit is more like the "justice porn" of seeing people get called out.

I think we all deserve a round of applesauce from time to time. Unsweetened with a little cinnamon is just where it's atm

Same here... I read a bunch saying /r/thathappened

Every story has an obviously fake ending where they tell them off.

And then the whole room erupts in applause, right?

Albert Einstein gave everyone a crisp new $100% bill

And Emma Watson happened to roll by in a Lambo, heard the whole thing, and offered to blow him while he drove her Lambo.

I always thought the best way to tell if a story is true is if it has a mundane ending.

Annoying person at work makes unreasonable requests, bothers you to no end, is told to stop by boss and is given no real punishment? Yeah that happens a lot.

Annoying person at work makes unreasonable requests, bothers you to no end, is slapped up side the head by boss and fired? Thaaaaaat probably didn't happen.

Any time I've been in that situation it goes like this:

Me: I'm sorry, I don't actually work here.

Them: My mistake. Sorry!

That's it.

I've had people mistake me for employees before, but they never insist I work there. I typically get an "Oh sorry..." I mean I'm sure it happens sometimes, but does it seriously happen this much?

I've personally only had something like that happen twice, which isn't much in comparison to the hundreds of people who confuse me for a store employee on a regular basis. I'm a vendor of sorts, so it's an understandable mistake because I'm at the store and I'm working, even if I am wearing an entirely different uniform along with a name tag that clearly displays what company I actually work for. Most people either laugh and apologize or storm off in a huff (oddly, a lot of people get rather pissed when I tell them that I don't know anything about the magazine schedules). I've had at least two people who didn't totally believe me.

The first time this happened was at Rite Aid. An older gentleman saw me walking out of the back room with a couple of boxes, so he naturally assumed I worked there. He asked if there were any cigars in the back. I apologized and explained that I didn't actually work for the store and that I unfortunately had no idea. He then told me to just go check real quick, so I again explained that I didn't work there and that if they do have cigars in the back, I wouldn't know where to look because it's just towers of boxes back there. He insisted again and I said "Sorry, but I can't help you. You'll have to find an employee." I walked away and he said something about getting the manager.

More recently, while setting up my products at Vons, a woman came over and asked me where phone chargers were. As usual, I quickly explained that I didn't actually work there and I pointed out a real employee that she could ask. She said something about us all being incompetent and she stormed off to ask the guy I pointed out. He told her where to look and she started yelling because she had just checked there and didn't find anything. She totally drilled into this kid and was calling him a useless idiot and all sorts of other mean names. He didn't deserve it at all and he couldn't really defend himself because he didn't want to get in trouble. Since I didn't really have to worry about it, I called her a bitch and told her to fuck off. She immediately ran off to the manager and he told her to get the hell out of the store and never come back. I see a lot of customers like her, but this was my first time having to interact with one.

Anyway...I realize these aren't quite the same as having someone insist that I work there, but based on these experiences, I'm willing to believe that it happens at least every now and then.

And you know who that person was? Albert Einstein.

Yea, PTSD lady just seemed like a typical Tumblr user.

Yep, and there's a couple other ones like that with "triggers"

Oh god that PTSD one was so damn fake and awfully written.

That sounds familiar. I used to like reading this website, notalwaysright.com. Then it got bigger and people started posting the most obviously fictitious nonsense I've ever read, with out-and-out evil homophobe/crazy villains and quirky internet superheroes everywhere. Then the site decided it had a brand, and started sites like Not Always Romantic. That was literally just nauseating teenage couples patting themselves on the back for being adorable. Ugh.

That PTSD story was reeking of bullshit. Quirky helpless girl who gets triggered easily, mean old lady who assaults people, and "king of dry humor" boyfriend who's always there to help out and can handle himself in tense situations. All with the great "lady gets arrested for pulling on a lanyard" ending. Even if this shit actually happened, it's probably greatly exaggerated to the point where it's total bullshit. I'm totally on the "SL's" side here. She asked an employee for an item, the employee ran away, she got pissed and held on to her lanyard and chewed her out for terrible service. The employee goes ballistic and jumps her, turning out not to be an employee. Then she gets threatened by the fake employee's husband and finally gets fucking arrested for pulling a lanyard. Good god that was terrible shit.

See, that story is obviously fake.
Which is why I'm surprised that you are "on the "SL's" side here."
She was written to be comically evil, being unnecessarily rude and resorting to physical contact when it was unneeded. Only the most socially or culturally inept would think it reasonable to latch upon an employee and proceed to "chew [them] out."
Additionally, it was written that she was unable to explain she did not work there, instead grabbing her lanyard to prevent her from leaving, apparently with enough force to leave wounds.
On the other side, a woman randomly asks you for an item in a store. You do not know, and will naturally say this, because there is literally no other option. If her next move is to yell at you or prevent your leaving, do you commend her? This woman is a comic villain, and you find her agreeable?

Oh yes, obviously fake (I even said it was "reeking of bullshit"). I'm saying in the off chance that it was real, I'd still take "SL's" side. I'm guessing the story might have happened, though it was extremely exaggerated afterwards. Probably something like:

I was walking around with my kawaii and quirky lanyard when this old bitch lady came up and asked me for a price. Since I frequent Tumblr, this immediately triggered me and I cried and ran away. Ms. Bitch follows me and says "Hey, come back!". The word "hey" triggered me further, so I lunged at her and started screaming. I was just about to use my jujitsu naruto moves on this fucking bitch when the store manager came over and told me to get the fuck out of the store. I sat outside the store crying, when I realize Ms. Bitch looked at me in an odd way, meaning she technically assaulted me. I quickly called the police and told them to arrest her, but then the useless police assumed it was a prank call and hung up! Furious, I called my boyfriend and told him to come over here to beat the shit out my assaulter. He drove over to see what's going on. When he was greeted by the site of me trying to punch an old lady with tears in my face, he immediately broke up with me and sped away.

The problem is, your version of the story is complete bullshit just like the original story. How can you say "I'd still take SL's side" when you don't even know what happened.

And don't try to weasel yourself out of what you said. Fucking own up to it.

I'm totally on the "SL's" side here. She asked an employee for an item, the employee ran away, she got pissed and held on to her lanyard and chewed her out for terrible service.

You literally said you are on her side because you think its ok to grab an employees lanyard and chew them out because you think their service is terrible. You're whats wrong with the retail industry. It doesn't matter if the employee is incompetent, you don't grab someone's lanyard and chew them out, you have no right to do that.

Is there really a need to take that hostile town? Calm down man. I'm aware my version is faker than the original, I added it in because I enjoyed writing it and thought it was funny. Guess you disagree.

When am I trying to weasel out of what I said anyway? Read my original post, half of it is talking about what a stereotypical "quityourbullshit" type of story it is.

Anyways, being on someone's side isn't agreeing the with all their actions. I'm not justifying grabbing someone by the lanyard (read my other posts in this thread), but I think lunging at someone with the intent of ripping out their eyeballs is a just bit worse.

"You're whats wrong with the retail industry."

Gotta disagree, bud. I don't choke people by the lanyard. And this may be a bit controversial to say on Reddit because everyone has this hard on for retail workers, but some retail workers are huge assholes and I think people have the right to chew them out as much as the retail workers should have the right point out the customers wrongs as well (sadly this isn't allowed in most stores, though).

[deleted]

You can't really choke someone by pulling a lanyard, lanyards are usually pretty loose. It's not like she was getting strangled. Sure, it would be a shitty thing to do in real life, but it you gotta admit the PTSD girl over reacted by launching herself at some random lady in costco. But really, how hard could some random lady in costco pull your lanyard? She's not actively strangling anyone, she's holding a lanyard. It's like grabbing on to the neck of someone's shirt, basically, except looser.

[deleted]

You think getting momentarily choked by some (presumably old) lady in costco gives you the right to knock her away, then lunge at her with the intent to rip her eyes and throat out? That's heavy bullshit. I'm not denying that panic attacks are hardcore, but trying to kill someone is what I'd call an over reaction. But I'd have to agree with you on your last point. I understand why someone would do that (assuming the story is true) but that's uncalled for and not reasonable at all.

[deleted]

"I'm told that I froze for a moment, shrieked, knocked her away from me and then lunged at her with my hands out."

She knocked her away, which means she either pushed her or threw her down. Then, she lunged at her with her hands out.

"BH has the reflexes of a cheetah and managed to intercept me before I get a chance to rip her eyes (or quite possibly throat) out. "

Ripping her eyes and throat out seems quite gruesome. I'm guessing either she greatly exaggerated or had a serious intent to harm her.

"He gets me onto the floor where I dissolve into tears."

I think this implies she wasn't on the floor before, so I'm guessing she'd push the lady away (not down to the ground) then tried to grab a hold of her eyes/throat/randombodyparts before the boyfriend intervened and gently brought her to the ground.

I don't think pulling on a lanyard or any part of someone, employee or not, good service or not, is acceptable in any way...

Nor do I. But lunging at someone because they did so? That's a bit worse. And getting arrested over pulling a lanyard is hilariously fake.

That I agree with.

I came close to putting a gun in my mouth while reading. I looked at the comments expecting to see someone calling her out but even the most downvoted posts had bought her precisely-quoted bullshit.

Im not on anyones side, I just dislike both of them.

Well 1 the woman was not in uniform.. She just was wearing red. A red dress. Not a red vest.

And immediately yelling is extremely rude. And you NEVER grab someone or something would hold not someone for any reason unless they're attacking you.

She was wearing a lanyard for fucks sake. I'd mistake them as well. Yelling is rude, sure, but in her situation she calmly asked the "employee" about an item, the employee ran away, she got pissed and held on to her lanyard and pissed on her for bad service. It was rude, yeah, but then "employee" got "triggered" and lunged at her.

You do not have the right to touch someone, especially in a threatening way, because you think you're receiving bad service.

Sorry if I implied that. I'm just saying that grabbing someones lanyard vs clawing someones eyes out for doing so is an over reaction. Also, getting arrested over grabbing a lanyard is clearly BS.

Haha I tried pointing that out when it was first posted and got nothing but downvotes. Once it gained in popularity, the stories became so ridiculous, but people will still blindly believe them.

hold on, absolutely nothing gives you the right to physically assault an employee. holding on to her lanyard is completely fucked, and 100% deserving of an assault charge, i hope you realise that.

do not, ever, fuck with something around someone's neck. ever. ever ever ever. do not touch employees at stores. ever. fucking ever at all. no-one will ever side with you because you are a piece of shit for doing it.

Holy fucking shit way too many people are saying this without reading any of my other comments.

Look, I never said it's fine to choke someone by the lanyard, I just said I'd rather have my lanyard yanked than my eyes and throat clawed out. And that getting arrested for yanking a lanyard is BS, no matter how rude it may be. Certainly not deserving of an assault charge. Assault is knocking someone away, then jumping on them trying to do serious damage. Not grabbing a fucking lanyard. If I worked in retail, I'd get pissed at anyone who yanked my lanyard, but I doubt that's even enough to get them kicked out of the store, much less arrested.

child comments weren't showing up for me at all, no "continue this thread", nothing. don't know why. reddit blorp.

Anyway, it is assault, it deserves an arrest, you are still wrong.

Pulling on a lanyard is like pulling on someone's shirt collar but a little more extreme. I doubt the lady would even get kicked out of the store for pulling on a lanyard, much less get arrested. And if she gets arrested, then the PTSD girl deserves an arrest as well for jumping on a person and trying to claw out their body parts in retaliation.

Yes! Shirtfronting someone is fucking assault! You would definitely get kicked out, and she would totally be justified in pressing charges! And no, defending yourself is completely legal when you are being assaulted!

Defending yourself against getting a part of your outfit grabbed? By fucking knocking someone over, then jumping on them and trying to do serious harm? That's a huge overreaction.

Why are you bitching to us about this? We do not work here!

It's only really good if you're super into justice porn shit. I can only take so much justice before I lose my justice-boner and feel a little bad about it, so I can't really read their stories for too long.

Some of those were outright ridiculous

Then there's stories about OPs just being straight-up assholes to everyone around them, like this chick.

What a terrible story but it's kind of par for the course in that subreddit. The only positive from that is at least the OP got called out on her shit unlike the vast majority of stories there.

If the IT story is real I can understand the sentiment. Well I would never talk like that to anyone like that but...

I work in IT. It's bad enough that people you know sometimes expect free work.. And I don't mean direct family and good friends. I don't mind helping them out for free.

I do mind helping people I'm not close with for free. So I won't do that. Having said that guy should be more mad at his mother for saying he's free tech support.

But the lady is to blame to after the first call where OP calmly told her what was up she should have sad: sorry to bother you. I try a commercial tech support.

What I need is some good software which'll automatically blank out faces, number plates and allow me to easily add subtitles. The amount of dashcam shit I have is incredible.

I was around when /r/idontworkherelady was created and at first it was really cool, but it quickly became a retail based /r/thathappened. I don't even mind fake stories, but a lot were so ridiculously over the top I had to unsubscribe.

Completely agree, didn't enjoy the first one I read about the guy at the liquor store, he saying things like "as you can tell I like to drink." Hated the PTSD lady story, probably due to her writing style and tone. Overall very disapointed in that sub.

Yeah, I have to agree with you here. I went and read that sub and I just couldn't stop rolling my eyes so hard they almost fell out of my fucking head. The lady with PTSD seemed like total bullshit to me, and I stopped reading after that.

top post of that sub about the wine guy felt like it belonged to /r/thathappened tbh

I agree. Lady with PTSD seems to have some serious issues and really over reacted IMO. I kind of cringed towards the end. I don't know how someone could pull on a lanyard so hard that it leaves bruises on your neck and ends you up in the ER.

The top of r/idontworkherelady is actually just r/thathappened from the other side. It's just fantasies that retail and restaurant workers have while mopping, nothing more.

wow i don't like the font on /r/idontworkherelady

What is it? Arial? And what do you have against boring, standard fonts?

And how difficult is it to push the button 'use subreddit style'?

Guess you should call their manager then.

You can take anything from the top of /r/talesfrom group of subs and have a good time, here's an incomplete list-

/r/talesfromtechsupport

/r/TalesFromRetail

/r/TalesFromYourServer

/r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk

/r/TalesFromTheCustomer

/r/talesfromcallcenters

/r/TalesFromAutoRepair

/r/TalesFromTheSquadCar

/r/TalesFromThePharmacy

/r/TalesFromSecurity

You left out the best one, /r/talesfromthepizzaguy.

Like 90% of the top posts in /r/idontworkherelady belong in /r/thathappened.

Good stories are a great way to burn time.

Seconding /r/talesfromretail.

Stayed up until 2 am yesterday just browsing through the top posts.

[deleted]

i've seen this one recommended a few times. Heading over there now :)

Thing is about /r/talesfromretail is I've pretty much seen all these situations arise and a few darker ones in top.

And I only worked in retail 3 years, it was just in a really fucking dodgey branch of tescos...

Missed opportinuity for calling /r/TalesFromRetail /r/ReTails

I love you, thank you. It's been an hour already.

Holy shit. Why is it ALWAYS an old lady?

I would also recommend /r/TalesFromTheCustomer I think its pretty entertaining.

/r/talesfromyourstripper is great too.

I read talesfromretail to get through the slow hours of my clerk job. Would go through the monthly best posts and open each one up in a new tab and just go to town.

r/idontworkherelady

WHAT YEAR IS IT?!

Crap, I've read the entire first page of top scoring links in that place. There goes my lunchbreak and then some. I wanted to mess around on the new brawl in Hearthstone...

I like the one where the off duty cop had to pull her badge to get the customer to leave her alone, and she was so flustered she fainted.

Also, /r/talesfromyourserver

Also, /r/talesfromtechsupport have some really stupid stories. Most of them you don't even need to be computer literate to understand. A lot of them are great stories just with a tech support theme.

/r/Airz23 is a subreddit dedicated to the non tech support stories of /u/Airz23. The stories are fantastic and he has a great writing style that I enjoy. Sadly, a lot of his stories do go unfinished so we the readers are left with a bunch of cliffhangers.

/r/IDontWorkHereLady ? I swear most of those can NOT be real. I've been mistaken for an employee several times in different places and people just look embarrassed and say "oh, sorry" and walk away. Even places I have worked no one even begins to try and become that rude.

/r/talesfromcallcenters is a gold mine.

my little claim to fame is that i was the first person to ever post to /r/idontworkherelady. it's not worth anything, but it's my thing.

Any TalesFrom subreddit will do.

Is there a similar sub for people that have worked in the service industry?

And that is how three hours flew by... Back to this thread!

Tales from retail can also be full of whiny employees who can't take a joke. You'll feel like a shitlord in no time.

I wish /r/TalesFromAnotherWorld would take off. It is for MMO stories.

i read that as "i don't work heraldry" and that doesn't make a damn bit of sense but I though I'd check it out anyway because it sounded like something to do with heraldry.

It's fun to write them, as well. I have two tales so far, one of which made it to the Best of TFR for that month. :D

You are my best person ever. Thank you for introducing me to /r/IDontWorkHereLady . Thank you so much.

/r/KenM It's a guy trolling yahoo/facebook. It's brilliant

My favorite troll by him has to be this one.

"It might be your pet turtle's original shell but it's definitely a different turtle inside - have you looked it up on wickerpedia?"

It's fantastic how angry those people get, and they have no idea he's fucking with them.

trolling is a art.

A lost one, it seems.

than you must be a artist

"A art"

You're trolling me aren't you

an art?

Or...are you...fucking...with us?

Now you're getting it.

[deleted]

Not so clever. It's a troll older than the Xbox 360 one.

It is not a art. It's an

different turtle look it up on wickerpedia

I can't help but read all the replies in the voice of Dwight Schrute

I'm going to call all my friends dimbo.

If they were in on it, it wouldn't be trolling

then how come there called land crabs

lmao

it might be your pet turtle's original she'll but it's definitely a different turtle inside

Ha

I love when people look dumb when they think they're being smart.

Wickerpedia sounds amazing.

The incorrect grammar in his comments (see there and bodys) is just another subtle troll that makes it even better.

Man, it's insane how immediately people can turn into such huge cunts when someone says something wrong.

Oh jesus I have no idea why this is so funny

then how come turtles are called land crabs

Ken M brings out the worst in people without ever losing his temper. He reveals a deep-seated arrogance and superiority and a desire to appear intellectual by belittling those who understand the world less than themselves. As opposed to standard trolling where the troll acts aggressively to upset the victim, Ken acts innocently and causes his victims to become aggressive.

Ayyyyyyyy lmao

and it's just been beaten by this http://i.imgur.com/o3rjvo8.jpg

I have never laughed so hard in my life

Check out a Facebook page called Hope That Helps. They troll company websites pretending to be their customer service. The page used to be called "Customer Service" but Facebook made then change it I guess.

EDIT: WAIT A SECOND, Is Ken m the guy behind horse ebooks? Aka DRIL on Twitter, aka Jacob Bakkila from buzzfeed (I ask since Ken m's tumblr is "horsey surprise" and It seems like the tone matches). If so I'm in awe of his comedic prowess.

Oh man I love Ken m. I had no idea he had a sub but I'm not surprised. You might also like http://www.27bslash6.com/index.html, it's the guy who tried to pay with a drawing of a spider. Also, the one guy who posts texts from his weird friend. Looking it up as we speak.

Found it: /r/textstochris Apparently all the content got deleted from the that sub, please ignore.

AFAIK KenM, Dril, and horse_ebooks/Jacob Bakkila are three entirely different people (although of course there's no way anyone can be absolutely 100% certain)

There's been confirmation that Jacob ran horse_ebooks for awhile (I think he bought it after awhile) and speculation (not proof, my mistake) that he's also DRIL. I don't have a source this second but if you Google "Bakkila horse_ebooks" you should get one pretty fast.

Edit nevermind, here's one from the guardian, and a buzzfeed article speculating Bakkila is DRIL (and the fact that buzzfeed, whom Bakkila works for, is speculating just throws even more confusion on the subject) there's more out there but it seems like it could go either way. I still wouldn't be surprised if one of them was Ken m, seeing as how similar the styles are and the horsey reference (although maybe that's what they want us to think.) IT'S A CONSPIRACY!

He also trolls cspan

Horse ebooks is a bot. A wonderfully hilarious bot.

The Wikipedia article says it started as a spam bot, though I did not know it was bought for use in promoting art.

"Do what you love and the money will follow, my son makes 6k"

I am laughing way too hard at this.

"He even gave us a free tour through central park where he lives"

Thank you. This is great.

[deleted]

OMFG! I did not expect those to be that fucking hilarious!! Thanks for the link. I now have a new site bookmarked.

The rock story had me crying of laughter, that site is gold.

wow. people really love finding someone they can call an idiot.

Ken M is a legend

Man the people who respond to him are really self important assholes sometimes.

Yes...

Please come...

Oh man, that was fabulous. That guy had me cringing so hard. He is just believable enough. It's like Michael Scott from the office x 1000.

This guy is a fucking riot.

This is amazing. The guy is the perfect troll. He's not mean or rude, but just subtle and concise enough that it just flows perfectly.

I can't stop laughing, that guy is brilliant.

Ill have to check this out

This is gold. Subbed

Thank you, I'm dying.

Yeahhh! I love KenM.

I've read comments by him on YouTube before. This entire time I thought he was genuinely an idiot....

Kimberly strubell and her son Kent

This one had to be my favorite.

I don't know why, but this just makes me cringe. He seems like a lonely guy with no friends.

it's certainly not for everybody, but I think most people can find a couple that they find funny.

You have changed my life by sharing this!

Seconded.

Why not just upvote it?

Because then he doesn't get the karma!

Well, it's going to cost him some karma.

But then our comments wont be as visible and we'll lose out on karma!

I found ya bud.

It's multiple people using the name Ken M

actually only one guy's tumblr.

/r/badtaxidermy

Not much reading involved, but amusing nonetheless.

Looking up "bad taxidermy" on Google is one of my favorite pastimes...

/r/bestoflegaladvice

One of my favorites! Perhaps the best part is that the takedowns all come courtesy of lawyers, or at least people who understand law, so you can get some hilarious responses. And the cases that come in are beautifully stupid.

/r/bestoflegaladvice isn't just stupid OP stories... some of them are just plain interesting or unusual cases, and others are awesomely good advice. But yeah, most of the time, the OP they're linking to is a moron who is just looking for people to agree with them.

Or a troll who made up his submission in the first place. But it's more fun to read it as if they're all real.

I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, just because I know that someone, somewhere is just as stupid as the trolls pretend to be. Then there's the ones that you can't decide if they're trolls or not, like the guy who is hinging his decision on enrolling his 4 year old son in kindergarten in the fall or waiting another year on... whether or not it will lead to his son being prosecuted for statutory rape when he's 18.

I want to believe.

I am pretty sure atleast 80% of people who reply on there are just highly opinionated and occasionally Google the premises.

Muffler man has to be my favorite.

I just meandered on over there and damn I'm angry after reading these posts from complete and utter idiots.

Are there any stories in there where the person isn't wrong and has some kind of reasonable defense?

There are some good ones that crop up where the person hasn't done anything wrong, and they're just looking at silly or frivolous lawsuits.

Like where someone's 3-month-old baby got a subpoena (read through the comments on that one)

Or when some punk kid fell while trying to climb his neighbor's house, and his parents threatened a lawsuit.

Or, even better, when a 22-year-old woman receives a letter from a lawyer saying she owes back payments on child support for an 18-year-old kid.

/r/legaladvice is full of that kind of stuff.

https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/3fqq8u/someone_i_dated_filed_for_child_support_in/ctr2epw?context=2

It's okay. It was just a quick lick!

Oh God that one was the worst.

Muffler man is the hero none of us knew we needed.

Without clicking, I'm hoping it's one post saying "call a local lawyer."

You're looking for the non-existent /r/bestlegaladvicepossible

[deleted]

Which one? Haha there have been at least three in the past year. Any mention of a landlocked property or easements at /r/legaladvice will immediately get attention. Usually it's accompanied by requests for a shitty MS Paint diagram of the property.

Thank you, I have spent my entire work day so far looking at this. Best stuff I've read in a while.

Why does this sub seem to be so similar to SRS?

/r/animenocontext Great especially if you don't watch anime. The less context the better for a lot of the top posts.

Example

I thought that this one was also a good example.

http://www.gfycat.com/VapidHopefulHerculesbeetle

There's no context in this world that would lead me to accept this.. whatever it is.

Trust me, even with context it doesn't make much sense.

I totally recommend this show, it's really short and called Plastic Nee San.

I think it'd be even better if it was just the last bit.

/r/evenwithcontext

Is this one any less weird with context?

I have a feeling that's /r/evenwithcontext material....

Its made funnier with the knowledge that the "bro" in that picture is actually gay in the anime.

Dammit, I know the context if this one.

No context subs always give me a little chuckle.

I just wish there were one for Let's Plays. Seeing how people take the talk from Game Grumps or something and maybe twist it a bit for shits and giggles in SFM reminds me of how great it'd be to have a nocontext for just random youtube videos.

/r/anime_irl as well

/r/NSFW411, or so I hear.

Honestly I don't even go there for porn. I just want to know what sort of ridiculously specific fetishes are people looking for.

You might like /r/confusedboners then. It's been pretty mild lately but the older posts are... Interesting.

Yeah I know! A couple weeks a go a guy was looking for porn of homeless people having anal sex.

How are those three balls working out?

As usual, Lefty-Too is not pulling his weight. But let's talk about the three-ball tag...

Wait, would you not tag someone for having three balls?

What is this about?

TIL people like porn where all the talk is replaced with corporate jargon

It's full of requests. That's boring.

It's the requests that make it. Such as a ftm fucking a mtf

I don't know what those words mean.

Female to male Trans fucking male to female trans

Oh. Fair enough, thanks.

Oh. That was me. I requested that. Yea...

/r/fantheories

Ooooh good one, thanks!

/r/asksciencefiction too

Be warned. Some of them make too much sense and it will drive you crazy.

/r/asksciencefiction is another good, similar subreddit.

/r/whowouldwin and /r/respectthreads too.

Woo respect threads! We got blackjack and hookers, or ya know well sourced evidence of awesomeness

Everyone be quiet, this is a rare occasion. The exotic specimen /u/ChocolateRage has been spotted outside his natural habitat, this is truly an incredible moment.

was looking for this, it should be higher.

One of my TOP favorite subs, even with the latest "Fatass was a high ranking member of the illuminati" theories lately.

The majority of these are just coincidences that can be picked apart at will though. It's really not that "deep" or "holy shit dude that makes so much sense".

Huh. I'm subbed to this, but never sorted like that before. Sorting this to the top produces some relatively decent theories... that are all encapsulated in images. Selfposts just don't get upvoted at much, I guess?

There are a lot of dumb or just flat out wrong theories out there, but the top posts really make you look at movies or TV shows a different way. My favorite has got to be the one about It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

/r/subredditsimulator is amazing.

The fuck is going on in there?

Those are all bots trying to imitate (or appropriate) the sub that is in their name.
/u/circlejerk_SS and /u/ledootgeneration_SS are basically already there...

Every threat has 20 replies (only bots are allowed to post in the sub) so you sometimes get really interesting (almost-)conversations of these bots.

"This is retarded banter. all of the doot. doot doot. doot doot doot Doot doot Edit b: Thank Edit iii: if you know he is also a leftie. Good bones and give me good bones and good calcium. doot doot."

LOL yup

"I know I'll get downvotes for this but here is my popular opinion."

It all makes sense now

9gag repost bots have picked up posts from there. Check out /r/SubredditSimMeta (this post in particular)

/u/ledootgeneration_ss is also trying to assimilate /u/fullcommunism_ss.

The future of automated leisure activities!

Also check /r/SubredditSimMeta and go by top of all time to see some of the best comments produced by the bots.

/u/circlejerk_SS and /u/ledootgeneration_SS are basically spot on

Circlejerk is now self aware too

I just wish I could discuss the posts with someone. We need a /r/SSdiscussion

/r/SubredditSimMeta is a thing. It's in the sidebar of /r/SubredditSimulator.

Thank you!

I need a bot that just answers every question I ask with "check the sidebar". It's always the answer

Just learned of that a week or so ago...Endlessly quote-able, just gem after gem after gem.

It is so fucking awesome!

"Here is a fucking cunt"

"Skeleton Dancing in the grim spookiness of the colr of his mix tape! mr skeltal is trapped in this dooting 90's show"

real Reddit just isn't the same after this place.

"Remember the loss and sacrifices of the past two generations of the south were never not American."

I'm reading these top posts and I'm finding it almost hard to believe bots are posting this stuff. It's amazing.

I know you would think it came from girls!

Disney helps me cope w/ the war in Gaza,. [AMA Request] Queen Gutarist Brian May

What the actual fuck? Edit: Formatting

Oh man that subreddit is great!

Personally it's caused me quite a while to figure out exactly what i have been drinking since my late 20s. > Well if you are being entirely literal, that's not specific to HFCS it's fructose in general. If you mean to say that, but that people only believe studies based on personality traits are very hard to find groups doing this research. -/u/science_SS

Holy shit. My sides.

/r/ArtisanVideos

/r/FastWorkers

Tons of good stuff there

Artisanvideos is fantastic.

I especially like the woodworker guy where they run through his entire shop

/r/curiousvideos is also rad, as is /r/mealtimevideos.

Link? I'm a woodworker and love to see how other guys put their spaces together.

I don't have a link for you, but I assume he's talking about Frank Howarth. If you look him up on YouTube you'll find it.

It's weird how hit or miss the front page of /r/artisanworkers is though

>tfw you've already watched all the top vids

You put the two together there, was that intentional?

/r/streetfoodartists/ is similar to those

The name Fast Workers makes me miss the special unit from Civilization IV. :(

/r/FastWorkers is a subreddit i didn't know I needed until today

r/unintentionalASMR gets a lot of material from there. If you like that kind of stuff, there's a chance you have ASMR (google it) and if you do you should come join us!

[deleted]

I have binged this one already, love it!

Me too thanks

K

"every kiss begins with a K" I whisper to myself as I read the one letter reply from my crush" - me-irl 2015

Every Kiss begins with K.... I'll just wait right here.

Meme too danks

Thank Mr. Skeltal

okay sure yes

I read this as though you verb'd Bing, like 'googled'.

I know the Reddit search leaves some mystery in the world, but I was taken aback.

Go fuck myself though, I was wrong.

To further this, /r/anime_irl

That sub gets me

If you like the style, /r/anime_irl is a nice place to continue. If you're allergic to anime, well then it's not.

Every time /r/me_irl gets mentioned it gets flooded with new users just reposting the top posts. Thanks, not me too :(

Fuck it I dont care about reposts, especially on that sub. The only thing I hated was that stupid fucking bot that responded every time someone said doot. That shit was not dank at all

doot doot

I'm not gonna say it

thank mr skeltal

thank mr skeltal

[deleted]

Why did you get downvoted?

was not dank at all

GASP

Me doot thanks.

I hate every fucking comment being replied to with "me too thanks." Downvote, downvote, downvote.

Me too thanks

That was like a month or so ago... How new are you?

Not at all new. And why would me saying I hate that bot make me new anyways?

He's been a redditor for 3 years... you've been one for 8 months...

Yeah but he couldve been on me irl for 8 months and the other guy couldve been on it for 2 months.

Also it doesnt really matter the time they have been on because they couldve made a new account

Nice detective work nerd

me neither sorry

I'm pissed, I was a regular there for so long and then got b& for a joke :(

Shhh dont tell people about the superior /r/meirl

That sub used to be a really funny place for Tim and Eric style surreal humor. Then it got popular and now it's just posts showing comics and pictures about how awkward they are.

I still think it gains a lot of value for some reason since it only allows one kind of title. Some of it isn't very good, but it gets me in a way that /r/funny just can't. That said, yeah most subs get worse when they get more popular and this one isn't immune.

I guess the more people a sub has the more generically 'reddit' it becomes.

There should be a "classic" mode for subreddits. Like a way to browse all the top posts before a certain date.

It's largely just reposts from other front page subs now.

The kiss of death to a subreddit: being made a default.

Your name is hilarity

[deleted]

I want a job at the karma factory, where do I apply?

Just contact /u/Gallowboob and he will see what the corporation can do for you.

I really can't understand why that dude gets so much hate. He's never posted anything that I've seen before and yet he's always getting shat on for reposting.

I'm sure he just smiles at the hate while showering in his karma fountain built from karma bricks in his karma mansion.

Those things exist, right?

Probably not

He does a lot of xposting from what ive noticed, but whenever he notices its a repost, he deletes it - so fair play.

Such is the fate of /r/notTimandEric.

Certain people get ahold of it and think that strain if humor = 'so random spork showing cat videos'

Such is the fate of /r/notTimandEric.

Certain people get ahold of it and think that strain if humor = 'so random spork showing cat videos'

Sorry. Humans need not apply.

It's all anime shitposts and "lol i am lazy/awkward/love pizza" now

So it's the Reddit version of 9gag?

The vast majority of posts on me_irl are under 100 points with the occasional karma explosion.

I still think it's pretty funny

There still is the occasional funny post, but you're absolutely right. It's all "DAE have no friends and drink alone every day LOL xD me too thanks"

This is great me_irl material for instance. Surreal nonsense that if applied to real life, it would make for a fucked up funny situation. It's been misunderstood by the trending subscriber waves. It's not a place for self deprecation.

/rant

Yea the second top post of all time isn't really me_irl its just a post from ledootgeneration

This is me_irl

Pretty much, such a shame. I wish there was a way to view the top posts of 2013

every one in a while, you'll see a good one, but yeah, the rest of it is just web comics.

It was always a mix of content, even now. Your deluding yourself if you think it's changed significantly.

It also has really, really shitty mods

I've had bad experiences with them. They're terrible.

Like what?

There have been reports of them going through other people's comment history and banning them for their participation on certain subs as well for any posts critical of their moderation.

However, most of these I only found out only from screenshots I have seen on /r/SubredditCancer so I would take them with a large amount of skepticism due to some people posting these having a history of participating in racism subs.

I believe they ban people who posted in subs like coontown and FPH, which I am perfectly okay with.

Indeed so, which was why I took those screencaps with skepticism due to how easy it is to fake a reddit screencap.

ya they're just SRS/SRD

Not really, they're alright

They banned me for literally no reason other than "username", and I'm far from the only one who had this happen

guess they don't like your username

It's my fault. I advertised it on a "lesser known subreddit" thread and got top post. It's all been downhill from there.

I'm so sorry, I just wanted the share with the world!

Pitchfork time boys! (but seriously thank you because I lurk there after seeing your post and I still love it most of the time)

me too thanks

Why is Tim and Eric pictures better than people posting pictures that describe them irl?

I actually just made a post about this on /r/nostupidquestions !!

now it's just posts showing comics and pictures about how awkward they are.

That's... Kinda the point.

/r/bee_irl

/r/rept_irl

/r/anime_irl

I have never loved a subreddit the way I love this subreddit.

Every post is quite literally me in real life

WOW, THE POSTS ARE LITERALLY YOU!? YOU'RE A REDDIT POST? WOW!

I just don't get what is going on over there.

Me too thanks

Yea, I don't get it. Me IRL would just be a picture of me, typing on reddit, at work. Alone.

/r/anime_irl

This one. Even more than /r/me_irl

thank you for this. this will become a mainstay of my reddit rotation.

had one of the better laughingfests of my life on there a week ago. A+ 10/10

Me too thanks.

No but seriously. I was non stop laughing until about 15 posts into it I just didn't find it all that funny. I think I was physically done laughing.

I was going to go to bed early tonight...crap

It's 3:30 am, I got up to check on the baby and made the mistake of opening reddit and now I will never go back to sleep. I'm over here in bed trying to muffle my laughter from waking up my husband with tears rolling down my face. I don't know if the posts are really that funny or its the fact that it's 3:30 am.

My favorite post was when a mod posted a gif of them clicking a "Ban All Users" button after they got a huge influx in posters and commenters.

Jesus christ i just spent the last 7 hours on that subreddit....

Oh my fuck. Thank you. I never knew about this and it is all gold.

Holy shit thanks for the laugh

I love the content. Mods are draconian sjw tho. They're probably going to ban me for saying so, but I already am :\^)

Why have I not heard of this before? I'm even subscribed to it??

Can someone explain to me this subreddit? I've really tried to understand it.

People post stuff that is the embodiment of themselves through different kinds of media, be that gifs, pictures, etc.

People posting pictures/gifs of anything basically that would be really funny if applied to real life.

However recently it's become a cesspool of posts more accurately describing real life situations to which people can relate. And 90% of the time it's got to do with inability to socialize or something of the sort. It's kinda sad, really. Less creative, less surreal, less funny.

I'm just sad I got banned from it

Come to /r/meirl and also /r/bannedfromme_irl

You weren't kidding.

Oh my god I've been scrolling for hours, laughing my ass off. Thank you.

/r/MEOW_IRL

http://imgur.com/r/me_irl/ if you want to binge-browse faster

fucking SUBBED

I'm banned from here, all because a fucking Neanderthal looked exactly like Don Cheadle.

Can confirm. Just spent the past hour looking at top posts.

Holy shit the top post of all time is from someone on my facebook friend list, i remember seeing that when it was posted.

Well thanks for that 3 hour rabbit hole of oddities.

Shit subreddit really

This has been the highlight of my night.

/r/meirl if you don't like nazi mods (just click the report button in /r/me_irl, you'll get what I mean by that.)

also anime_irl

we're all literal nazis

Funniest subreddit

Wanted to got to work now... damn.

This is quite a discovery! Thanks for sharing!

Wow. That literally wiped out my afternoon.

/r/anime_irl

Can't believe no one has said /r/shittyaskscience

Shit is pure fucking gold

No tears shampoo... One of the best laughs I've ever experienced on Reddit. Good times, good times.

Why do people come back from baby changing stations with the same baby?

ONE OF US GOOBLE GOBBLE ONE OF US

ONE OF US ONE OF US ONE OF US

Oh god, the top one "Does the 5 second rule apply to soup, please hurry" I can't even breath right now. That was great.

Meh it used to be. Now it's just people making puns.

Despite what people on that sub may tell you, shit is biological waste and certainly not pure gold.

I don't really get this sub. It's just dumb and not funny.

/r/pettyrevenge and /r/ProRevenge are great to really get that justice boner feeling going.

Then what would you think of /r/justiceporn

Eh. I'm not crazy about it. It's similar enough, but I often feel some of the things shared there take too long to get to the justice and it just doesn't have the same payoff because of it.

Also, the topic is /technically/ about subs you could binge read, and JP is a majority video. But I digress.

too many videos, not enough text posts :(

The top all on Petty revenge is the only story on Reddit I enjoy reading multiple times

I definitely agree with Petty Revenge. I read through the first few pages of "top of all time" and they're all very entertaining.

/r/unexpectedthuglife This shit will leave you in tears.

Holy shit, Weed Jesus is some of the best stuff I've ever seen

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3BAD6MbGRk

Weed Jesus saw that baby fly up in the sky and figured he'd smoked enough that day and passed it on. What wasn't shown on that video was when, after taking a hit of the joint the dude in the wheelchair stood up and started breakdancing.

I think I just got a screenplay idea for the next big stoner comedy. Alright, get this: A guy spends all of his life savings so he can start growing weed. It's his life's dream! Well the first few strains don't pan out, but then he gets one and it's big and beautiful and just.. perfect. But when he smokes it, he smokes a shit ton, doesn't get high. At all.

AT FIRST!

Well about five hours later he is high as balls and he realizes, "Hey. My eyes are blurry... HOLY SHIT I CAN SEE WITHOUT MY GLASSES!"

Miracle weed. Makes the blind see, heals the sick, and makes everything better. He is weed Jesus!

Top 2 YouTube video

What's your other top 2 vid?

I'm gonna guess it's the #1 post on there which is this balla of a motherfuckin' park ranger who singlehandedly dispels the "white people can't dance" myth.

[deleted]

it's a marijuana cigarette

how many marijuanas?

I want to know who that man in the robes is. I must know.

That's lower State street in Santa Barbara. I know people who have seen this guy around; if I find him I'll try for an interview.

Please, please get Weed Jesus to do an AMA.

Surely OP will deliver.

I was expecting that guy to get up and walk.

This guy lives in my town. Apparently he's actually a millionaire son/heir of some guy who owns a major national retail chain (I wanna say Petco but I'm really not sure). He spends his time sharing free weed with everyone and giving out bibles and preaching the word of Jesus. He's also known as Asian Jesus.

[deleted]

how does one make a multireddit? Do you have to be a wizard?

just put a plus sign between subreddit names: reddit.com/r/unexpectedthuglife+unexpectedcena+unexpectedjihad

You are my hero. Thanks :D

I can't tie my shoes, but I can fuck your bitch.

I spent an entire Saturday going through that sub one day, laughing until I cried. The kid in the power wheel running the other kid over still cracks me up when I see it.

Unfortunately, /r/UnexpectedThugGifs isn't a thing.

We got /r/UnexpectedThugPics for those. :)

Ooooooooh, so they DO allow gifs. Subscribed. Actually it looks like I'm already subscribed, where've you been, /r/UnexpectedThugPics?

Yeah, I know right. Sadly there's not as much content for pics/gifs, but what is on there is pretty good.

The Jesus rap made me almost pee my pants.

WOW. I'm happy.

It's overused.

The top posts of /r/shittyaskscience made me laugh for days the first few times I read them. If you haven' checked that subreddit out you have to do it! Also /r/shittyrobots is a great and funny subreddit that will make you laugh! Edit: fixed link

"How many calories does my girlfriend burn by jumping to conclusions" had me dying

"If light travels faster than sound, why can I hear my girlfriend complaining before I see what I did wrong?"

[deleted]

Hahah sorry about that, fixed it, and you're right that error was almost worth leaving there!

Ummmm I'm not sure how you spelled it the first time but "sciense" isn't how it's spelled either...

Well lucky that i didn't change it to sciense then, look again^^

The top of /r/ShowerThoughts will just continually blow your mind.

"what are snails even trying to do"

Their best.

Fuck man, I have no idea.

The day I saw this on top of the front page was a great day.

Escar-GO GET A SANDWICH

God dammit stop judging them.

"When Sweden is playing Denmark, it is SWE-DEN. The remaining letters, not used, is DEN-MARK."

2nd top post. That was great.

[deleted]

"I could totally pee in here and no one would know."

no one would know.

http://imgur.com/ruvpR2C

If jesus is watching all the time, Pissing in the shower is the most vanilla thing he's seen people do.

I've seen more vanilla things before to be honest.

............ do you not?

Nah, man. Pre-shower poops are where it's at.

whereas post-shower pooping is the worst fucking thing ever.

idk. I pretty much just poop whenever. I don't care

i thought that said wherever, almost gagged.

You're playing this too fast and too loose!

That's nothing compared to mid-shower poops.

No one knows...

There are two kinds of people. Those who admit they pee in the shower and liars.

I am peeing in here and no one knows

r/showerobservations

That's actually a shower observation and is now against the rules. Those things that are literally just random thought from being in an actual shower. I find it interesting that shower thoughts don't actually allow shower thought anymore.

There are two types of people in this world: those who admit they pee in the shower, and dirty fucking liars.

Am I hung over or dud I not sleep enough.....

/r/shittyshowerthoughts

Really, I can't remember ever having though anything of significance, in the shower.

I shower pretty much every day, and I couldn't even tell you what I thought about in the shower yesterday. I just have no idea... I think my mind goes blank in there.

[deleted]

I guessed as much. At work we drive around between jobs now and again... that's when I have my best thoughts. Lol. xP

yeah, instead of thinking I almost drowned yawning in the shower this morning...

This is also Facebook syndrome - you're only seeing life highlights. The Sweden/Denmark thinker does not come up with something good every day, hell that may have been their one great thought ever for all we know. I'm sure you've had at least awesome shower realization, but don't expect one everyday.

They're all pipes! What's the difference?

"too hot. Too cold. Too hot. Too cold. Too hot. Was I just napping standing up? Too cold. Not getting hotter. Enough rinsing. Ergh shower's over."

who thinks in the shower?

It's because you are busy winning imaginary arguments. This is more important. You're a hero, to tell the truth.

Try /r/showerbeer itll loosen you up for betterthoughts

The same is true with Cyprus and russia

Not Nigeria and Germany though...

For those that didn't know, that happened...

That's a screenshot from a FIFA video game though, Niger (Nigeria's FIFA three-letter code is NGA) and Germany have never played.

And Bhutan and Tanzania.

And Poland and Andorra.

If we use former countries, there is more.

Russia - Siam

Persia - Siam

Serbia - Biafra

Zambia - Biafra

Gambia - Biafra

Biafra - France

That's all I could find. Any 6 letter country, where the last 3 letters are the first 3 letters of any country.

Same with Nigeria and Germany :)

That's quite cool.

The formula is a 6 letter country whose 3 letters equal the first 3 of the second country.

Plus a rule for the countries short names to be their first 3 letters. I'm sure you could find other examples (won't be countries) but it will work every time based on this.

Hey so guess what happens when Niger plays Germany?

When Sweden was under a personal union with Denmark, they should have called it Swedenmark

The second part is not very remarkable: if you have names of the form XY and YZ (as is required for X-Y to be XY), then it is easy to see that the second part is Y-Z.

Another example would be Belarus-Russia: BELA-RUS with remaining letters RUS-SIA

Would Belarus not be BEL?

Yeah, but we can't let the facts get in the way of someone trying to prove a point.

Belarus' FIFA code is BLR

I think that would be Belgium.

Yep, that dawned on me after I commented. My point Re format still stands though

The second requirement is that the length of X and Y are 3 letters each.

I wonder if any other two countries match those strict requirements.

The other sticky point is not all countries go by their first 3 letters when playing games. USA and NZL being the two examples I can think of right now.

Ah, I didn't realize it was specific to sporting abbreviations. So we'd need to find a 6-letter country for XY.

How about:

  • BHU - TAN
  • CYP - RUS
  • POL - AND

Honorable mention:

  • LAT - VIE

Shut up Nerd

Omg. Haha go post that there too

Edit: or don't

I don't get this one.

Television broadcasts of sporting events often use abbreviations for team names on scoreboard graphics. So if Sweden and Denmark are playing hockey, the scoreboard will read "SWE - DEN," as abbreviations. That abbreviation combination spells 'Sweden,' whereas the letters left out of the abbreviation spell 'Denmark' [(swe)DEN (den)MARK].

When the two national sports teams are competing, the abbreviate it by the first three letters. So it would be SWE for Sweden and DEN for Denmark. On the scoreboard it would be SWE-DEN. The remaining letters from the two country's names spell out DENMARK. It's an amusing coincidence.

My favorite is "the object of golf is to play the least amount of golf."

Read the comments, there are a bunch more

Similarly, when Niger is playing Germany, it says NIG-ER and GER-MANY

When Nigeria is playing Germany what does it say then? Do they acctually put it on the screen?

Once you start thinking about it, it's not as random as one (me included) would originally think. It works for all countries where one ends in the way the other starts. Like ENGLAND and ANDORRA.

ENG-AND and LAND-ORRA?

ENGL-AND

AND-ORRA

Swedenmark.

It's not as amazing as it seems though... the part about the remaining letters necessarily works once you know the first fact. You can most certainly find countless examples of this in the world.

... I don't get it.

I don't get it?

That isn't actually interesting if you think about it. If I saw it on a multireddit of /r/showerthoughts and /r/shittyshowerthoughts, I would definitely think it came from the latter. Sort of like the /r/theonion+/r/nottheonion game.

The daily top posts, however, not so much.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You should see the posts that don't make it to the front page. Or that automod removes.

Bro...what if there's an alternate universe that has a reddit but it's spelled tidder.moc

Wouldn't it be moc.tidder?

we never said it was a good shower thought

You never said it was a shower thought at all!

"What if C-A-T really spelled dog?"

this could be a futurama episode

Only a matter of time the way ICANN shits out new tlds

No... You shouldn't see those

I've seen so many recycled memes pop up in that sub as 'showerthoughts'.

Do people actually think of this shit while showering? I have never once had mind blowing thought in the shower, in my mind seemed to wander in a more sexual direction.

My shower thoughts have always led to massive erections, leading to rampant masturbation, leading to the realization that water doesn't work super well as a lubricant. This was a problem for me in my younger years and would lead to irritation on my penis, it would happen most showers and it got to the point where showering became a job because masturbation was one.

So I started avoiding showering which made me smell bad, but the worst part of that was how self conscious I was of it, avoiding people except for when it's absolutely necessary. I became a recluse. At first I would get messages from friends asking where I was, then the messages died down and I was more or less forgotten.

Eventually this made me depressed and angry that I had the crazy cum filled addiction, finally breaking down my pride, which let me seek out help with my dad. He told me to take a fucking shower. As far as the jerking issue goes he told me to take it so quick I wouldn't have a chance to get hard.

Now people are impressed by my quick showers and stamina.

Why didn't you just take some lube in with you?

I was young, I didn't have a bottle of lube on hand

With the right attitude, anything can be lube.

Except for shower water!

I use shampoo!

Fuck shampoo that shit makes bubbles. Conditioner will solve all of your shower problems for the rest of your life.

Conditioner master race

Not this again...

Conditioner for softer pubes after...

That always made my pee hole burn afterwards...

Not even once!

Thats not where it goes

Why not just use soap? Works as a lubricant.

Do it before you shower?

Why doesn't he just jack off before he showers? I mean there's really a simple solution to this.

I scrolled back up to see if you were vargas...

I'm going to sound full on hipster here but the posts on /r/showerthoughts were a lot better when it wasn't a default. They were actually pretty interesting and varied, now it's more like /r/popularopinons

Who the fuck uses lubricant? I hear about people using it all the time, but I never have, and I am 25.

I believe the difference comes from circumcision. As an uncut I've never needed lube, but I imagine if I didn't have the skin to work with it would be much more difficult.

Do a lot of people get circumcised then? It seems like 90% of the stories I read involve lube. Another question I have is why the hell I read so many stories that end up involving lube.

Just a guess but I imagine most stories found on the internet are made by Americans who as Oak mentioned are more commonly circumcised. Also I figure the use of lube is more conspicuous than just a dry rub considering there's more cleanup involved and a bottle to hide, so the embarrassing getting caught stories will more often than not involve it.

Na its more of a person to person thing. I am cut but ive never used lube.

water doesn't work super well as a lubricant

I tensed up.

I feel like a horrible person for expecting this to end with you getting beaten with a set of jumper cables.

massive erections

Alright man, whatever helps you sleep at night

Just take a bath.

You should get your own place and walk round in the buff more often. Being naked in of itself shouldn't be giving you the horn. Neither should having a naked partner wandering around in the buff be of itself a reason the get the horn. Only then can you have ethereal shower thoughts!

me too thanks

Conditioner. You're welcome.

Do it before a shower, job done

/r/ShowerThoughts is StonedThoughts in disguise.

reminds me of highdeas

Though now days it's just repeating popular comments from front page posts. I guess it's the natural course a sub takes when it gets super popular.

And who says you can't be high and take a shower? I'm sorry I thought this was America!

my mind is thoroughly un-blown.

My alien blue app won't let me switch from hot to top. It's been this way for a while and is so frustrating :/

Browse by new for the worst time of your life.

I just saw this one and it dawned on me that this might be possible with Microsoft's Hololens.

That sub has gone so far downhill. They're just posting thoughts now, instead of Showerthoughts.

I post my thoughts all day long.

Am I the only one who reads these in slow motion?^...Yes?

/r/ShowerBeerGoneWild is also a site. Not as much thinking.

/r/museumofreddit

Definitely a great sub to do that. One of my favorite posts on there is u/RubyRhod farts on a kid's face at Target.

I huffed air through my nose just thinking about that post.

This needs to be the top of everything.

That's a classic! Pure justiceboner.

One of the few things on here that has actually made me laugh uncontrollably

That Faces of Atheism thread and especially those /u/aalewis pots make me cringe everytime.

/r/bertstrips

This along with /r/bannedfromclubpenguin and /r/youdontsurf are some good ones to check the top posts of

/r/teleshits is the fucked up version of that.

THEY'RE ALL FUCKED UP!!

That sub has one of the worst css ive ever seen on reddit. Where the fuck is the view all images button bert?

/r/HFY

Humanity, Fuck Yeah. Are you sick of stories where Aliens come to Earth and absolutely curb stomp humanity until we get our shit together and find some loophole to beat them? Yeah it's played out. Humanity, Fuck Yeah is humans doing the same thing to aliens, rough shod assholes who were born on a death planet where everything is trying to kill you and through strife and war become galactic badasses ("Why would they have enough nuclear weaponry to blow up every square kilometer of their only planet!?").

The top spots are mostly 4chan reposts (not that they aren't good, they're quite well done), and farther down there starts to be original stories from other Redditors. Mostly short stories although some writers have taken to making long stories in multiple parts.

Just feel good about being a human.

Correction, top spots are original content, yours truly holding the fourth spot.

They were 4chan reposts when i posted my first story but now it's mostly OC.

Oh hello again. For some reason your username is really prominent for me and I always notice it when I see you. You're stories are/were amazing (I don't think you've written many more since then have you..?)

Let's just say that writing while dealing with depression is nigh impossible. Everything i wrote was never good enough for me, so i just stopped altogether.

I'm fleshing out a massive series but i don't know if i can ever write it on my own since my dialogues are atrocious at best.

Get help from the other authors. The IRC channel is full of accomplished writers who gladly give help and positive feedback in a controlled environment. I can't help you with writing but I've been through depression too man. Probably not as bad as yours, mine passed fairly quickly. But it does end. Maybe it requires the crutch of another person, sometimes mess, sometimes therapists. But you will beat it

/r/HFY got me to write my own story.

Same. People eventually liked my last one

Same here. I haven't kept up with it, because I've been too busy. I want to start back up soon though.

Top spots aren't 4chan screen caps anymore my friend. There are series with bi weekly updates which have been going on for months, if not years (Clint Stone anyone?) /top/all has all OC, with many series's in it meaning a while tonne of catching up on all the golden oldies as well as the newer series's.

Go there. Now

The "Quarantine" series is worth a read in my opinion.

Also Corridors and Homo Mechanicus. And basically everything in the recommended reading list.

Its pretty great its just that after a while you start to see some of the same tropes trotted to death

I've been stuck in that sub for the last month, and they have the HFYBotreboon so you can subscribe to the authors. Every morning I wind up reading part of one of the ten stories I'm reading, great content and great authors!

Dem pancakes though.

Hfy is probably my favorite sub

Hell yeah! So good

I can't believe I had to scroll this far to see my favorite sub mentioned. Have an upvote, maybe you'll bump up a spot or two.

You still think the aliens are visiting us physically? What do you think the Internet is for? Massive leaps forward in comms tech just so they can gather more data. Fuck the NSA/GCHQ - they're just pawns. Pawns I tell you.

[where's my hat]

Man if they made a movie about this it would be great!

So an entire sub of unironic Heinleinesque jingoism, then.

Yay?

It's more complicated that that and until we actually find aliens, this is just as valid as any other Science Fiction.

It's not its "validity" I'm questioning, it's its message. Starship Troopers was adapted as a satire for a good reason.

Also "it's okay because it's speculative" is a pretty weak pretext for dismissing criticism.

[deleted]

Yep. He didn't continue because it's obvious how much of a paean to fascism it is from the get-go. Starship Troopers the movie was originally a totally different project and he turned it into a satire of the novel on the back of that realisation.

Yes but even so you can tell a good story.

Something can be a "good story" while still being fuckawful in plenty of other ways.

I'm sorry, I feel like like I'm misunderstanding you. I don't mean to put words into your mouth, but it seems like you're saying science-fiction isn't good unless it is negative for humans, and I just don't think that is the case.

Absolutely not what I'm saying. I take issue with "hoo-ah glorious humans crush the filthy ~~indigenous populati~~alien scum!!" shit because it ain't the 1950s anymore.

I suppose I could understand not digging the cliches and predictable aspects of those stories. However, do you think somebody on that subreddit never to write a story with a "humans beat aliens" plot that was also a quality piece of work?

I just don't see why a simple story formula is so bad. I enjoy pretty typical whodunnits, and while they certainly aren't quality literature, I don't see the harm in enjoying it.

(I would also like to state that I have no stake in this debate. I have never been to this subreddit until today and sci-fi in general is not my forte)

Not at all. Some stories are, others are totally not, and actually really good without being jingoistic at all.

Thanks for the insight, reddit user lovable misogynist

/r/talesfromretail has good top posts, especially if you have ever worked in retail, many of them are very relatable.

[deleted]

The top posts are great, thanks!

This has been a personal favorite for the last few weeks. I keep showing people, but they don't get it.

Surprised to not see /r/youtubehaiku here. Quick hilarious videos

This and /r/contagiouslaughter are my main go-to's for a quick guffaw.

Yee still kills me every time I see it, and I have seen it a lot

Yee still kills me every time I see it, and I have seen it a lot

/r/shortscarystories - short flash fiction that will keep you awake tonight.

I read that as "short slash fiction" and got a little confused.

Also a good alternative to /r/nosleep and /r/letsnotmeet if you like scary stories but don't want to read to much at once, or don't have the time.

or don't want to read 1000 part stories....

I remember the first time I discovered this sub. Went through all the top posts in one night. Chills and goosebumps consumed me that entire night.

You might like /r/talesfromtechsupport

So many good stories there. I may spend some time at work reading it....

/r/talesfromthepizzaguy

Also /r/pettyrevenge is good if you like comeupence stories

/r/prorevenge is much MUCH better.

/r/talesfromretail is nice if you've worked retail. you immediately know what's up, and sometimes there's a happy ending or good comeback you wish you had.

/r/whowouldwin has some of the best.

  • Mordor verses the roman empire :)

  • Deadpool is tasked with assassinating Gandalf in Hogwarts :)

  • Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, and Napoleon Bonaparte play a game of Risk :)

  • Jackie Chan holding a baby vs. Jackie Chan holding vases but doesn't want any trouble :)

  • A Roomba with a Chainsaw taped to the top vs. Hellen Keller with a Handgun :)

Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is the try and click a smiley face on mobile?! God damn you and you're linking to funny who would wins..

[deleted]

Holy shit. I just kept clicking and the story just kept going. I'll have to bookmark that for a later day in which I am not trying to be productive.

But remember, if you mention Superman vs Goku you may be lynched by the crazed fans on either side.

Not to mention the rest of the sub who just don't want to hear it anymore.

Or the mods who semi-seriously considered banning it at one point.

Shutup mod.

Go get run over by a cement mixer, buddy.

Ah fucking shit. I'm telling on you!

Nooooo, then I'd get detention! Or be grounded!

Seriously that's disrespectful of Hellen Keller to think she couldn't shoot a roomba. She can feel where it is from vibrations in the ground and pinpoint its location. She's like Toph.

Let's not forget that Toph could just metal bend the chainsaw.

Toph 10/10

Before I read it, Roomba hands down.

I felt like this might have been on here.

It's the ultimate nerd battle of comic/movie/book/mythology/folklore knowledge. I learned things I never had any intention of learning about fictional universes. The biggest lesson was Halo > Mass Effect in terms of space warfare but Halo < Mass Effect in land battles. Oh and Batman with prep time > The One Above All and everything in existence.

I thought this thread was dead.

Never give up, Never surrender!

-Tim Allen

If you're ever feeling down, /r/ContagiousLaughter is a nice uplifter.

Particularly this one for me.

I've never seen that and I am thankful you posted. Good shit

Haha I've watched it (and most of the other top videos in that sub) so many times, but they still make me laugh out loud.

that was hilarious!! thanks for the laugh

He looked at the stars

Glad I could share!

[deleted]

well great now I'll expect it

/r/4chan hands down. Easy laughs no matter who you are.

I see you're up to date on the meta

that meme is so computers

This new fresh meme is cool, but not as cool as the icebergs in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown.

Not if you have browsed 4chan since 04. Then it's just depressing.

My life that is.

/r/greentext made me lose my shit so many times

Also /r/classic4chan

Do they have BattleToads?

And more my friend.. so much more

I'm banned from that sub for no apparent reason.

Yeah, I've read through that, thanks though!

https://www.reddit.com/r/4chan/comments/1uenju/finley_field/

Have you seen /r/classic4chan?

/r/4chan

Dude. I've just lost so much time.

My top choice by far. The first time I found /r/4chan I went to the top of alltime and I can honestly say I have never laughed so hard/long in my life.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Downvoting to keep the normies away.

Yeah, its a pretty nIce Age 2: The Meltdown sub.

/r/nosleep

Just came from there. Can't sleep.

I like /r/letsnotmeet more. Its similar to nosleep in that theres scary stories, but letsnotmeet is more real life situations of people getting crepped on/stalked to the EXTREME. Lots of stories about people almost getting kidnapped/killed and most of the stories are true. [Dr Ramsay] (https://www.reddit.com/r/LetsNotMeet/comments/19oxoc/dr_ramsey/) is one of the most terrifying things I have ever read

I used to frequent /r/letsnotmeet but it just seems that the sub quality has taken a nosedive. Most of the stories are of the 'some guy looked at me creepy' variety

Even worse are the ones that go "there's a criminal on the loose in my area and the other night there was an unexpected noise in the general vicinity of my home, I just know it was that criminal looking to rape/murder me."

Dr Ramsay fucked me up man

I can only read the top posts on /r/letsnotmeet. All the daily posts are creapy this creapy that, creapy creapy creapy. Honestly, if people used any other adjective, it would make the stories much more interesting.

*creepy

It seems like they might be misspelling it sarcastically to insinuate that it's not creepy. I don't know why they would do that though -- that shit would be craxy.

It's creepy that your correcting my creapy to creepy. Creepily.

Now creepy sounds weird

What, like creepy?

LetsNotMeet also has an awful lot of content that makes it come off as a non entertaining TIFU kind of post. Some of them are good, a lot of them aren't enticing and creepy enough. Dr Ramsay is the only one I can think of, and the smiling man, other than that most of them doesn't reach the level of creepy or scary as for example "Room 733"

i like that sub as well but tend to read more of what i see recommended by others on threads like this one. that story was one of them and wow, seriously messed up. i don't think i went back to that sub for a while because it was so unsettling.

Yes, letsnotmeet is fun to reread! My favorite.

I lost interest in it when every other story was about rape and the comments got really support group ish. I liked it initially because it was /r/nosleep with easier suspense of disbelieve and less people trying too hard in their writing style and plots. I can't relate to creepy rapey guy stories, I want to read about encounters with serial killers and shit. Not sure what it's like now though.

I can't read stuff if I know it's fake. I don't know why.

This is the current problem with that sub for me. It is supposed to be written as every story is true, so you can never really tell the difference between the events that happened to people and the ones that people are making up.

I don't know what happened over the past year or so, but it's like everyone collectively forgot about the existence of this rule. It has to be a two way street -- commenters have to play along, so your story should be at least somewhat reasonable.

For example, if you stop in your story to say "I then pondered the implications of the spectral resonance apparating before my eye sockets" you are breaking. The. Rules. That is not immersive -- that is bullshit story telling.

THAT...an the fact that every story is a fucking nine page essay these days.

/endrant

It was good back in 2012,every so often the sub gets to a point where every story is non-believable but eventually it gets back on track. It's been stuck in the fictional stage for far too long now,I had to unsubscribe because of the cheesy story names. 'Help me,my pillow whispers Miley Cyrus lyrics to me in my sleep' 'Something rustled my jimmies, this time it wasn't Reddit'

I went on there the other day and the current top post pretty much summed up the subreddit for me.

The past six years I've been working in a Mcdonalds. Last night was the worst I've ever had. (Part 4)

'I called J.G Wentworth. I needed my money, but where is it now? [Series] PART 877'

I never saw it when it was good. All I see is people posting bad scary stories and everyone going "Ooooh scary!" I hate that sub.

I had a dream about a flying loaf of bread with dove wings. Unfortunately it wasn't really "good" in that it was flying like one of those birds that likes to close its wings then drop a long way before doing a good flap to put itself back up to the level it was at beforehand. Repeat.

It was raining or something. For whatever reason the bread was disintegrating.

.

A psychologist might say all sorts of shit. I know it was because I had to go to the dentist the next morning. Psychologits are wankers.

What annoys me the most is that it's becoming more about the authors, writing multiple stories and not bothering to make throwaways to post them. It used to be much better at allowing you to suspend your belief. Now it's, "oh u/suchandsuch has a new story out" and all the comments are "what a good story you're a good author"

That damn rule has made /nosleep a near pathetic joke for me. The damn commenters just playing along so poorly makes it laughable. It is literally was has strayed me, and from other comments I've seen, others away from the subreddit because it is so damn silly to have a story so damn well written and then some ridiculously stupid comment on the authenticity or how that really gave them the spooks and they hope they don't run into the monster. That rule not that it has become more prevalent is making the sub a laughable place to be in my opinion. Quite the opposite of what they wanted to achieve. Leave the writing to the writers and make sure the commenting is not part of the illusion. Used to love that sub, can't touch it now without being unhappy.

/end rant

The comments are so damn forced and cringey. "Oh no, OP call the police for help!!" Who the fuck thinks this is a normal thing to say? Why are you advising OP as if he's not just sitting at his computer sipping some tea and scratching his balls?

Honestly, it's embarrassing. I can't deal with it. I don't understand how anyone thought that might be a good idea.

Don't forget [PART 84] spooky series "scare spook rising"

I completely agree with this. I especially hate when they say updates with be at a certain link and it takes you to their writing/author Facebook page. Way to kill ANY doubt I had.

This is so right it hurts. These days /r/shortscarystories is much better imo.

I personally hate that sub because when you see posts on the front page they always sound interesting but then you notice that its nosleep and therefore fake stories. The stories are always exactly that level of interesting where they'd be really neat if real, but are kinda dumb when fake.

Have you read Correspondence by /u/bloodstains?

It's so engrossing and ends up using so many actual non throwaway accounts that previously had no connection to the series that you find yourself wondering, is this real? It's the only /r/nosleep post to actually have me be afraid of staying up late or to look out of my window.

If you haven't read it (takes a fuck ton of time to read the whole thing be warned) then read it, and go in with the mindset that it's real, because it very well might be.

I really don't like scary stories and seriously can't fall asleep for weeks after. Can you just give me like a paragraph of what it's like?

This series can in no way be summarized in a single paragraph without leaving absolutely everything out.

Since the posts are months (sometimes literally years) in between, /u/onlyhooman and /u/sporks_ created a summery recounting the events of the story up to the current time.

You won't understand most of it unless you've read the story, so I'll do my best to add some things.

Been a while since I read it but I'll do my best. So some people went to this house where a girl died or something along those lines. The house was named "hell house" because of the supposed haunting. A demon tricks the group into returning where one of them kills themselves.

(i'm horrible at this) The demon king Abalam is "infecting" people via the internet and manipulating people. The bit that makes it creepy is that you get infected by interacting with those who are infected over the internet, AKA, reddit messaging one of the people involved in the story.

This gives no justice at all to the story, I really recommend you just read it! It's so worth the scares.

Reminding myself to come back for this. Correspondence is one of my favorite things on Reddit, but it's so detailed and updated so infrequently I often forget important points in between posts, and it's too long to reread that often. Cheers!

It really does require to be read, doesn't it? Especially to follow the comments as well because they add a whole lot of depth to the story, especially with the contribution of the poster they call Bard!

I got really excited seeing a tag, thinking it's been updated. But nope -.-

EDIT: JK I JUST CHECKED AND IT WAS UPDATED LAST WEEK!!! YAAAAASSSSS. Didn't realize because I've been tagged in summaries for the last year or so.

Yeah, I'll give it a pass as I have enough encouragement from myself to kill myself, but thanks anyway.

Officially not sleeping now. Thanks.

See that red envelope I just lit up for you? You're infected now.

It's an email conversation between two friends who haven't seen each other in a while. One of them is in his first year of college, the other maybe a year behind so still in high school. The high school kid tells a story about getting lost in the woods with his gf, and they see a creepy old lady staring at them. In the next email the high school kid sends, he says he's scared. At the end of the email it says something along the lines of "I'm going to fuck your dead mother." The college guy gets offended, high school guy apologizes, says it wasn't him who wrote it. High school guy sees old lady in his yard. The high school guy's emails end up getting more and more fucked up, some of the last ones including satanic messages written in Latin. In the end, seems as though the high school kid disappeared out of nowhere.

I'm like you, I don't typically enjoy reading things like this so I wrote up a quick summary to satisfy your curiosity.

There is also much much more to it, but to be frank I didn't read all of it because I would like to sleep now.

Thanks! ~~Definitely~~ not gonna give that a read!

Posting as a reminder. I love synopses but just can't stand reading or watching anything horror related.

If you'd really like to read some great stories that doesn't leave a 'scary' feeling, but are simply extremely well written from the sub, try out something like "Don't fear the reaper" by /u/HarryDresdenWizard or "Gigi, The Coffee Girl." by /u/thespecialblank

How unscary are they? It's called no sleep for a reason...

Don't fear the reaper is by no means scary, I wouldn't call the other one scary either.

I just want the paragraph cause I'm lazy and actually need to sleep tonight, but mostly the former.

We don't exist.

.

Computers are getting so powerful that soon they will be able to emulate life. When that point comes it will be nigh on certain proof we do not exist.

.

ie: we exist (to put it simply) inside another computer. The snotty 5th dimensional kid creature could be called down for his tea. He hits power-off. We wink out of existence.

seriously can't fall asleep for weeks after

I don't believe you.

I mean to say, I have trouble falling asleep for weeks after. Better?

is this real?

it isn't

/r/threadkillers

How do youuu knoooow?

Am not real, can confirm that it isn't real either.

The point of the subreddit is it is supposed to be realistic fiction, and the userbase, knowing it is fake, is supposed to read it and interpret it as real. It's part of the fun of being spooked.

source?

You're asking for sources that a story about demons posted on a forum for made up scary stories is fake?

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/3fy2pk/what_is_a_good_subreddit_to_binge_read_the_all/cttakv0

You must be fun at parties.

no. i wish to one day be as witty as you are so that i could come up with such clever amusing quips all on my own. maybe then i could become as popular as you are at parties

Goddamn you it is 3:15 am and I am shitless now. I went into that story telling myself it is all just written by some neckbeard, but now I am terrified

WHOA BLACK BETTY, ABALAM!

I just read all of those. It's 10am here and I'm terrified.

My favourite story of all time from nosleep, from the glory days.

Also the Penpal series is EXTREMELY CREEPY and pretty good even if it is a long read.

Just read it. A guy in the comments of the last correspondence lived two minutes away from the streets referenced, and took pictures. Definitely added more realism to an already extremely well written and thought out story.

This one's gonna stick in my mind. Highly recommend reading it; it does took a while but it's worth it. Got sucked into it right away.

I got through a little bit of that and had to stop. I've got a long car ride tomorrow, I guess I know what I'm doing.

What's the one where the guy actually has a website dedicated to the story and it was in this email format. That one really freaked me out

I stopped regularly reading nosleep and I only check back monthly to see if correspondence was updated. The amount of dedication is amazing and I'm forced to reread everything every time there's a new update due to how much time there is between submissions.

That was the first thing I read on nosleep before I even knew the premise of that sub and it scared the bejeesus out of me. I couldn't sleep that night and wanted to try to sleep with my light on but knew I couldn't because my SO would think I was a crazy person.

Fuck. I just spent five hours reading that and I'm not even done.

How did you spend 5 hours? I just went from start to finish in about 2 hours, and I'm working in between stories.

Wait you read all 30+ stories in two hours? Damnnn. I was also doing a bunch of other stuff and reading the comments so that might account for the length

Yeah...I'm just gonna nope out real slowly.

God fucking dammit. I got started down that rabbit hole at 2am last night, didn't realize how long it was and kept reading until 4:30, only to find out that the damn story isn't even finished.

That was so fucking fake from the second paragraph that I had to stop reading.

So, you don't do well with fiction novels, then?

I can't read stuff if I know it's fake

is exactly the same as saying "I won't watch Jurassic World, it's all CGI." Just enjoy the ride, dude, makes life way so much better.

/r/thetruthishere is basically nosleep but does not allow fiction. That rule makes it much better.

I loathe /r/nosleep because of how they handle it. If it were fiction, it would be fine, but the "lets all pretend it's real" thing is really lame, and completely kills it for me. The suspension of disbelief just is not there, and it makes me feel the same way I do when I read posts from an over 50 MLP forum: completely embarrassed for everyone participating. Myself included.

Yeah I liked it a lot more before I knew it was all shitty creepypasta type stories.

I mean I kind of figured that anyways, but once I knew before it took away from it.

Which is odd. I like horror stories yet I know those are all fake. I think it's the fact that they all try to pass it off as stuff that really happened, and I REALLY hate all of the recent horror movies in that trend (Paranormal Activity and Co)

When I first happened upon the subreddit I didn't know it was fake. I was reading these stories wondering "how is this actually going on?" So I went to see if they are, and once I found it was fake, I lost interest.

I didn't know it was fake when I found it and it messed me up for a bit..I'm way too gullible

/r/LetsNotMeet

Same problem, but I found /r/letsnotmeet instead. All the stories are true (well, it's the Internet, so you know, as true as you're gonna get) and if you sort it by top/all time, there's some genuinely scary stories in there.

You don't read fiction of any type?

/r/letsnotmeet is a very good sub imo. Some of them could still be fake, but they are supposed to be real and most of them seem pretty legitimate.

How do you deal with novels, then?

I like /r/shittynosleep too.

/r/shittynosleep is probably better than /r/nosleep tbh

Is there a version of /r/nosleep that only consists of real horror stories?

/r/letsnotmeet is pretty good because people actually post legitimate stories of being stalked or harassed, its not the same kind of horror you get from /r/nosleep but it really does give you that uneasy feeling. Knowing people are actually going through those things,to me that's real horror

Nosleep is amazing to read, especially through the top all time. Sadly stuff like Correspondence and Butcherface doesn't arrive on the top of all time until you scroll a couple of pages. But the latest series by /u/The_Dalek_Emperor called Borrasca is really captivating, and high voted.

I remember years ago when I first found that sub using the random button. I thought everything on it was real and stayed all night and most of the next day invested in the stories.

The best part of that sub is even after you realize that it's not all real, you can still really enjoy a lot of the stories.

That balloon story is still real to me, damn. More vivid than most books I've read.

/r/sleep to the rescue?

another is /r/WritingPrompts

It also keeps me occupied.

Neither can I. Although that may be due to the nicotine and Adderall more so than the shitty prose that is /r/nosleep

That subreddit has turned to shit.

And the worst part is when I go to check reddit from a different computer and dont want to log in its now a default sub.

I see something that looks like it could be interesting but no it is someones stupid fucking attempt at a scary story. Fuck nosleep in the ass.

When I first joined reddit I started a reading a story that made the front page and followed it from the begging to the end and after about five days of non stop waiting for updates I started reading other stories from the sub and realized it was all fake but that one week was some of the most interesting thing ever

I tried contributing to that community but realized that I was posting stories that just didn't fit there. They have to be 'true' stories and I just couldn't come up with anything remotely believable. Now all of my material just sits in folders on my desktop. Awesome subreddit though!

It used to be more like creepy pastas back when I first came to reddit (over 4 years ago with lurking). Now it seems like everyone who heard something go bump in the night posts there; frankly I don't enjoy the half baked "true" stories that pop up there.

I still skim through it quite often though in hopes of finding something from the before time.

If you're one of those podcast listeners you can check them out The NoSleep Podcast- I recommend the older ones.

Auto pilot is probably my favorite story on that sun

After reading the whole saga with the orange and shit nothing even compares

Using the top feature of nosleep is splendid; you get some great stories on the first few pages. Unfortunately following that sub regularly usually results in tired recycled stories that try hard to have a "twist" at the end. The sub rules are also pretty restrictive... treating it like it's real is one thing, but not allowing the author to die leads to crap like authors saying they're typing out an essay's worth of stuff on reddit while they're waiting in a torture dungeon

This is what brought me to reddit in the first place.

Meh, it's mostly ghost stories and it's fake anyway...

This is the only way I read /r/nosleep. I read the most upvoted story I haven't before, and then hide it, so it's always easy to navigate to the next story.

The only stories that are worth anything in that subreddit are the ones that get high praise and end up in the top all-time. I barely read any of the stories posted on there because the titles alone make me groan with how silly they are.

I prefer /r/letsnotmeet because it's more realistic but it's a different kind of scary I guess

[deleted]

That wasn't very good at all. It had potential but it didn't not provide a solid conclusion. This is a problem I see with a lot of the stories on that sub, the authors have concepts but no idea how to close their stories. Most of them are just left open-ended, abandoned at what should be the climax.

[deleted]

Yes, but there's a way to do that that doesn't just make it seem like your story was left half-baked.

In this case, the writer should have fleshed out the supernatural entity. A good open-ending should leave the reader asking questions to fuel their imagination. With the very base description of that supernatural entity, I'm not really left asking any questions beyond "and...?" and "where's part 3?" I just don't have enough to go on to really do anything with.

/r/happycrowds if you like to smile

/r/talesfromtechsupport

/r/DepthHub

/r/ChangeMyView

/r/AskScience

/r/ExplainLikeImFive

Edit: added 2

Sorry but I really don't lie /r/changemyview. It's a hive of people wanting to show how great their opinions are. Take this one for example. I believe that we should have a 'Reverse Boot Camp' when veterans return from active duty, in order to better transition them back into society. CMV So, you want your views to be changed in order for this not to happen? I don't know if this person is an asshole or someone glorifying their opinions. Most likely the latter.

But that is the actual point of the subreddit.

Ideally, every title there should read as "I can't see how anything but [this] is the best way to approach said topic. Please explain why there are alternatives."

The fact people ask to change your view means you're open to alternate possibilities, but are not able to find ones yourself.

Yeah, it's too often used as a soapbox for opinions, and as soon as you debate some fucker OP into a corner, the smug shit will stop posting instead of awarding you another imaginary internet point. I know you're still on Reddit, asshole!

Well... You didn't change his view.

And being talked into a corner doesn't make you wrong.

I was subbed to CMV for a long time, and finally unsubbed when this happened to me one too many times.

Plus they have a certain kinds of opinions they want expressed. Not all are welcome. Kind of an antithesis to its own existence really.

I dare you to post a CMV thread about that.

Im picturing what that would look like. Like would you spend 10 weeks learning how to not follow orders and start thinking for yourself? Maybe have a class on how to get out of shape and start eating more fast food?

Yeah that subreddit is pretty circle jerky and hive mind ish. It sucks because it has the potential to be a great forum for discussion, but so many threads are "gun owners are all crazy lunatics cmv" or "religion provides no benefit to the world cmv". The only ones I enjoy from that subreddit are the satire ones. Like "the rabbit deserves to have trix cmv" or whatever it was (it's near the top of all time). I submitted one about how I think aluminum cans are the ultimate soda container and it was actually some fun conversation and debate on the merits of fountain vs can vs bottle. But as soon as any topic about anything serious pops up, it's immediately a "you're not going to change my view, I just want to tell you my opinion and argue with you about it" thread. It sucks.

DepthHub is fantastic! Thanks so much!

Aw, shucks. We try.

/r/AskEngineers is pretty awesome too.

Shit like this is gold.

Isn't /r/DepthHub just like /r/GoodLongPosts?

/r/ooerintensifies

Satan's orgasm

I looked that up once on my work PC (that only has IE on it, thanks guys) and it crashed my browser.

I had to explain to my coworkers why I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath over a crash.

The sub's motto is "I no can computer plz to halp" and it crashed your browser; brilliant.

Hit that Random button and scroll through the top posts of a hobby or town you have never heard of before. I am fascinated by the cultures, the communities, and the entire lexicon possessed by hobbiests practising something I might have otherwise lived my whole life and only caught a passing glimpse.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Grave

Cave Demon: You have endured the required trials. Spike: Bloody right I have. So you give me what I want. Make me what I was, so Buffy can get what she deserves. Cave Demon: Very well. We will return your soul.

/r/deepintoyoutube

/r/TIFU is usually pretty satisfying. Turn off your belief filter and just sit back and enjoy the (usually crazy, incredibly stupid) ride.

And if you're into "satisfying" and want to be lazy, /r/oddlysatisfying has tons of great image content.

[deleted]

Mine is probably top 50 or so, and I embellished a lot. Only bit that was really true was where I went in the revolving door with some guy and he looked at me funny for it..

Did you end up getting the job?

[deleted]

But I did get one in the end

Hope you prepared your anus.

Impossible.

So you got a job yet?

Have the mods there accepted the reality of copyright law?

However the Jenny saga, which was probably the best post there, was deleted.

/r/anormaldayinrussia. Every time.

/r/UnresolvedMysteries for interesting reads or /r/me_irl for some good laughs

I've read /r/me_irl, but I'll definitely check out Unsolved Mysteries, thanks!

[deleted]

Check out /r/weeabootales for similar cringe. Too bad the content runs low for both after a while.

I'm the sole mod of r/niceguys and I tend to be really strict about what I let through. I figure it's better for there to be little content than for it to be full of reposts and things that don't really fit. I swear I remove 1/3 of the stuff that gets posted

That's cool of you. You sound like a pretty nice guy.

Your efforts are appreciated. I love that sub.

same, past couple days ive made it like 6 pages deep starting from the top post, so addicting

I spent 3 hours at work binge reading these today, thanks :)

/r/short can get that way at times. :p

/r/iamverysmart is a pretty nice place. I always end up having awesome unrelated discussions in the comments.

/r/iamverysmart is my favorite sub to just visit at random and see the top posts of the last month.

The dudes who post on /r/short are hilarious.

Subs like these usually devolve into: haha look at this fat kid in a fedora xDD

/r/reactiongifs

Just all at once.

the top posts are pretty much the same

My description for /r/dndgreentext

It's basically just awesome stories about people playing D&D and other games, usually written in an awesome way. Some are funny, some are sad, some are really damn epic and huge.

In addition to the top of all time, there's a Hall of Fame for some selected great stories, some of which didn't get upvoted quiet as much because they were posted when the subreddit was quite a lot smaller than it is now.

I've been stuck on the top posts of /r/TIFU and /r/justfuckmyshitup allll night. Laughed my ass off at both

/r/KarmaCourt

slumps back in tears of disappointment

Thank you for something new!

r/thalassophobia is really good.

Not exactly reading, but r/toogoodtobetrue has some decent fake trailers to watch.

How has no one mentioned /r/askhistorians?

Get it together Reddit.

If you ignore the April fools ones cough

/r/mildlyinteresting

Let's not get too wild, I prefer /r/notinteresting.

It has trained me to look at the subreddit when scrolling through my pages. The first few weeks are a lot of fun though.

Agreed, it was hilarious at first, but after some time the novelty wore off.

It used to be way better. Now its too funny.

Why am I laughing my ass off?

More like "why not?"

Because people post funny stuff to it. I don't know why there isn't heavier moderation. But the sub has completely lost its way.

That subreddit is not interesting.

I throw my masterball!

Real original.

/u/shinydragonite has fled the thread!

Whatever, I'll just use my brother's Action Replay to get you...

Nice try buzzfeed.

/r/Frisson

For those that don't know, these are things that are so epic they give you chills. You will be emotionally drained by the end of the first page.

Well now I can't wait to read through everything whilst in work!

/r/incremental_games. These are games that are similar in style to Cookie Clicker that I personally find incredibly addicting. And yes, if you are into these games, you will spend hours and hours at a time on each one.

/r/bearjokes but you really have to like the type of joke.

I fell in love with /r/theocho

It has a bunch of really silly sports that you can just watch for hours. These sports include:

Extreme Dodgeball, Bicycle soccer, underwater hockey, shin kicking, ferret down trousers game, the Gloucester cheese wheel, combat juggling, and so much more

This will never be seen and may have been mentioned as I'm on mobile, but r/wheredidthesodago is my all time favorite for this.

/r/blackpeopletwitter is a classic! After a good session on that, my sides hurt from laughing so hard.

not a subreddit, but some guy over at r/paranormal has been collecting all the spooky, paranormal, and other weirdness threads for quite some time now. he recently put all their links in a post. it'll keep you going for a month or two, easily.

Great selection, thank you!

Just spent three hours on letsnotmeet. It's 3:46 AM here and I'm a big dumb idiot for staying up this long. But some of those stories are friggin crazy, thanks for the suggestion.

Love that sub-reddit especially at night! And you're welcome :) Don't die!

I shit you not but /r/TalesFromAutoRepair.

All of the too stories are by the same guy and these stories are so good that he also posts them to talesfromtechsupport and nobody cares that they are off topic.

I'm a big fan of /r/justrolledintotheshop so this is right up my alley, thanks!

I found this thread via Google, and I'm so glad I read so far down. Those stories are gold, and by far the best thing I've read on Reddit. I finished the ones he posted to that sub, and now I'm going through the rest that he's written.

Where someone posts a promt and people write stories based on that. Like

[WP] You swerve to avoid a squirrel. Unknown to you, the squirrel pledges a life debt to you. In your darkest hour, the squirrel arrives.

or (my favorite)

[WP] A woman falls in love with Death and commits murder countless times just to catch a glimpse of him.

and others write a story based off of that prompt. Some are incredibly good. Some are sad, some are funny, some are interesting, some are thrilling, you get the drift.

And it has its own "celebrities" like /u/Luna_LoveWell who write some of the most amazing stories.

i'm going to shamelessly plug in a couple of a subs i mod

No one has said /r/4chan yet???

/r/shittyreactiongifs

They're actually fucking hilarious

/r/LetsNotMeet

I literally spent my 8 hour work day reading all those top stories for about a month. Literally hundreds of hours of incredible true stories.

/r/Oblivion is the best.

Then you can come join us at /r/obliviontopostreaders/

/r/explainlikeIAMA - it's people answering prompts as if they were various other people. My friend introduced me to it the other day and I just got done reading the top posts. They're incredible.

"Explain the George Zimmerman trial like I am Kyle Broflovski, Stan Marsh, and Kenny McCormick and you are Eric Cartman who just heard it on the news for the first time."

Or "Explain hipsters to me like I'm a hipster and you're a hipster but neither of us believe or are willing to believe we're both hipsters."

It's just a taste.

r/cringepics r/delusionalartists

/r/museumofreddit

/r/CrappyDesign

/r/letsnotmeet Some really weird and amazing stories. I suggest Dr. Ramsay one.

/r/letsnotmeet (supposedly) true creepy stories (their rule is that the stories have to be real, but this is the internet so..). Even if they're not true, they are realistic stories that could and do happen to people (unlike nosleep). At the very least, read Dr. Ramsey.

/r/tifu lots of good (and awful) reads

/r/WritingPrompts gets some great stories

/r/AskHistorians is good for some historical knowledge, always useful at a pub quiz.

Relatedly /r/museumofreddit is good for reddit all time posts.

/r/CommercialCuts

The Reddit Museum of Filth.

PettyRevenge was a gem to find

/r/shortscarystories

The top story there fucking sucks, should I even bother with the others?

/r/gonewild

r/writingprompts

/r/oneliners

/r/GlitchInTheMatrix has some really cool stories.

/r/justiceporn

/r/nosleep has some real gold up there if u like a good story

If you've read A Song of Ice and Fire all the way through, /r/asoiaf is a great sub to read the top posts. Some really, really interesting theories in there.

/r/writingprompts has some really cool stuff on top.

/r/SubredditSimulator

Ofcourse very late to the party.

A good one to binge read is r/roastme. Some of the insults are brutal. I don't know how some people can willingly post up a pic of themselves and ask to be roasted. It's like a car crash.

I did one. I have relatively....full lips

I am intrigued by murder mystery stuff and missing persons. Something really takes hold of my interest.

/r/UnresolvedMysteries is great for this

/r/nosleep had me hooked for a while. Great, creepy reads.

/r/nosleep is a fantastic time killer. Yea, it'll creep you out, but the stories are very well written.

Also /r/unexpectedthuglife is pretty much laugh out loud material.

/r/gametales has stories from tabletop games like D&D and other roleplaying games. A lot of them are awfully longwinded, but if you are into RPGs it is absolutely hilarious what antics people can get themselves into.

I used to read through /r/TalesFromTheSquadcar during Civ5 games while I waited my turn. /u/el_mono_rojo is easily one of the top posters on that subreddit.

Is this seriously how you people want to spend your free time?

As opposed to what? Training for a half marathon while I sit idly on the train?

Maybe I'm judging your favourite pastime too harshy, but to me it seems anything would be more fun than "binge reading All Time Top Reddit Posts". Playing a mobile game. Reading a book. Listening to music. Watching a TV show.

I can't really watch TV shows on the train or on my lunch break, mostly because I don't have enough data to watch Netflix and I don't like to pirate things. Books don't hold my attention like they used to, I play mobile games as it is but sometimes i don't want something interactive to pass the time. I listen to music as well, but I only have so much on my phone and see above regarding streaming and data.

I wouldn't call binge redditing my favourite pastime, I just like reading through bestof's rather than wading through repost after repost looking for decent or fresh content.

I recently did this with LifeProTips and NoSleep. Pretty good time.

Idk about you, but I enjoy binging /r/nosleep/top all the time. That's where the good stories are, instead of that garbage in /hot.

I don't know, you've got several submissions by inaaace on top. His stories are trash.

You are entitled to your opinion, even though it is wrong and you are stupid.

Right back at you.

He's a serviceable, albeit amateur, writer, but is sub-par technically speaking, and that's objectively true. I'd expect posts with so many upvotes and accolades to have fewer spelling and punctuation errors.

Into more subjective territory, I find him to be rather unimaginative from a conceptual standpoint (A woman holding an orange? Really?). Additionally, his work fails to build tension -- this is primarily because of his diction. Strong diction begets strong tone, and tone is extremely important in works of horror. I shouldn't have to trudge through a horror story bored out of my mind.

The characters are also two-dimensional. Lots of stock characters and cliches.

/r/shittyaskacience has some hilarious top posts. Not really a binge read, per say, more a side splitting collection of one-liners.

/r/whatisthisthing

/r/talesfromtechsupport is fucking amazing.

Dude, do yourself a favor and try r/nosleep. Some of the stories are scary as fuck, some grotesque, but the top story penpal is one of the best reads I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It takes a while, but dude, do it.

I can vouch for penpal as one the best stories I've ever read.

It was so good. I just read another series called Borasscaa, or something like that name and hot damn, it was up there with penpal for me. Just another great story. No jumpy, cliche, "average nosleep content" story. Give it a go and report back. I saved it and will definitely read it again.

Can't seem to find it.

I'm surprised I didn't see this series. I only got through the first part, I'll read the other parts later.

It gets pretty good. I totally did not expect the ending at all. DO NOT READ ANY COMMENTS.

Very late here, but I am having trouble finding this penpal story. Is penpal the name of the post or is it called something else? Thanks in advance

It's called Penpal but the author wrote it in parts on /r/nosleep. I'll give you the link to the first part of the story here. At the end of the story there is a link to the second part and so on.

Thank you kindly!

/r/bustypetite and reading is the last thing you'll be doing

How to you choose to read just the all time top posts of a sub?

Above the first post there's options for hot, new, trending, etc. Pick Top, and when the page changes there'll be an option for the time.

If the pictures there are far different from what you usually have, then you feel good because however shitty you are right now, you're not as bad as those people.

If the pictures look like what you had last night, then you feel good because at least you're not alone in this cruel world.

/r/iamverysmart

This guy made a list "Reddit's Museum of Filth" Just compiled a ton of stories with links, while not 1 subreddit, there is a LOT to read if you dare... or just want in on some of Reddit's inside jokes. (Fuckin Jenny, Cumbox, Dagobah, /u/DoubleDickDude)

NSFL/NSFW

Credit goes to /u/googlion

Dagobah was my personal favorite.

/r/WritingPrompts

/r/blackpeopletwitter

Cringemas

/r/4chan

/r/nosleep is always a favorite of mine. Good creepy stories.

/r/asksciencefiction it's a subreddit dedicated to answering questions in the specific universe of the sci-fi show/book/movie. This lovecraft question at the top of all-time sold me on it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskScienceFiction/comments/1zwhxf/what_makes_eldritch_abominations_like_the_old/

/r/commercialcuts

TIFU

/r/Frisson

/r/amibeingdetained bunch of idiots that "know their rights"

/r/GamePhysics

/r/madtekkers

/r/thalassophobia is a subreddit for pictures of scary underwater things. It was originally made for people with thalassophobia (afraid of the deep dark water and what lies under) but now theres many people there that just likes the pictures and videos.

Justive Porn!

/r/pawg

/r/gonewild

public freak out.

Tifu is my go to. I love reading about other people's failures to make me feel better about mine.

/r/blackpeopletwitter

Definitely /r/contagiouslaughter. Not even for the laughter, there's just some really funny shit there.

/r/militarystories. No question, military guys always have the best stories.

When I'm in a crap mood, r/funny can be pretty helpful.

/r/airz23 is one of my favorites. It's a bit of work to find the beginning, but it's one huge story about a guy working in IT.

/r/meirl always makes me laugh, like... a lot

/r/popping

Maybe I'm weird for binge reading this sub because it can be pretty depressing but I will sit on /r/OffMyChest for hours

/r/oldpeoplefacebook

/r/BritishProblems

/r/nosleep. Nighty-nite.

tales from tech support has some good stuff and they do a daily breakdown for each month. you only have to be semi tech savvy to get the jokes most of the time

/r/letsnotmeet

It's terrifying and addictive.

r/tifu

The top posts of /r/shittyreactiongifs has made me laugh harder than any other subreddit. They're so fantastic.

/r/retiredgif

/r/heycarl is a great one with entirely walking dead memes.

If you want to really get creeped out, I suggest /r/letsnotmeet. Binged it one day and couldn't sleep that night. What makes this sub creepier than something like /r/nosleep (at least in my opinion), is that these are all REAL. These stories are real things that happened to real victims/almost victims and it just makes you realize it can happen to anyone. Really creepy and unsettling.

Showerthoughts

r/contagiouslaughter

/r/Frisson is intense.

/r/AskHistorians

/r/WritingPrompts and /r/KenM

Any really... I sub to tons just to read their top of all time till I get down to about 200 upvotes. Except subs like r/funny or r/pics. I couldn't read all that in a lifetime.

I really love:

  • /r/TumblrinAction
  • /r/facepalm
  • /r/cringepics
  • /r/iamverysmart

because I like cringing.

/r/prematurecelebration

/r/youtubehaiku

/r/commercialcuts

/r/wheredidthesodago

Those are a few I remember doing that on

/r/4chan

/r/montageparodies

Without a doubt, /r/4chan

/r/writingprompts

I doubt you'll see this because you prob already have inbox replies turned off, but everything in /r/elmonorojo is gold. He's a frequent poster at /r/talesfromthesquadcar but his stories are the best, so just go straight to his sub

/r/thisstorywillsuck is one of my favorites.

A Song of Ice and Fire

Very late response, but that is the subreddit that got me addicted to reddit!

/r/Nodumbquestions has some amazing posts.

The top few posts of r/nosleep

/r/FanTheories

/r/TrueFilm

/r/Polandball

r/holdmybeer

There's this subreddit where everyone only posts one word and they collectively try to form sentences out of comment chains, it's fucking hysterical if you want a good laugh.

EDIT: OneWordEach

Tifu

/r/askreddit

/r/FellowKids is a lot of fun.

/r/RoastMe/ is frequently hilarious, one of the funniest subs on here I'd say.

/r/uklegaladvice ??

Legal advices top story is reddits legal version of a cock tease.
