After spending the weekend in Ottawa being surrounded by the most loving, polite, happy, joyful, helpful people I have ever met in my entire life I come home to endless arguments, interrogation, lost clients and friendships because of how the media is smearing it as some hate rally.

Literal angels of humanity of all colours being labelled as hateful by people who have no fucking clue about the reality we live in and where we are headed. The amount of arguments I've gotten into, lost followers, snide comments and judgments from so called friends is honestly exhausting. How is it like this? How can something so good and pure and beautiful be thought of as bad???

It makes me puke. People who don't see it I am having a really hard time having compassion for you, you're lost, you are blind and you're on the wrong side of history.

It's also easy to lump opposition in as a monolith and pin the few outlier cases as the norm of the larger group. It's the easiest way to attack the "other" without having to acknowledge any of their arguments.

Many on the left do it with any perceived racism at these protests. Many on the right did it with looters and rioters during the Geoge Floyd protests.

Many cops have negative assumptions about certain groups based upon the worst actors. Many groups assume the worst about cops because of the actions of a few of their worst actors.

It's painfully reductive to use these outliers as justification for vilifying the other side and dismissing any arguments they make from the offset. Frustrating to see anyone use this cheap tactic.

No Doubt... although the protests in Portland and Kenosha we're Littered with crime and violence. I do believe that 99% of the people who went to those protests did so with good good intentions in their heart. And had no intentions of doing anything other than forming a peaceful protest to voice their concerns .

When you look at back at the protests that occurred two years ago. Seems like most of the Looting and arson you see occured at night. Likely because the good protesters that went there for reasons of love all went home for the night. and only the criminals were left when darkness fell. Sadly in the minds of many this is how those protests will be remembered. Not as protest of equality but as riots.

That's one thing that gives me hope with this trucker protests it seems like the good people are staying all night too. Which means the good people can stop the bad people or do enough good deed to make it obvious to anyone with a rational mind that the purpose of the protest is good at heart.

The powers-that-be have to use false flags at any protests regardless of whether it be started by liberals or conservatives or in this case in Ottawa a fairly equal combination of both. Because what they're really looking to do is suppress dissent. The 1% care about their control not your political Spectrum. It benefits them to keep you arguing cuz as long as you're arguing with each other you'll never realize that they are to blame for all the mutual problems you both share. The only thing that worries me is the reaction to this protest make it out of hand or require another massive false flag. Not because of its size or location but because this is the first real sizable protests that included both liberals and conservatives working together since the American Patriot Act protests in 2006. I think that represents a real threat to the men behind the curtains.

I have on film a dude who is very clearly a cop pretending to be a protester surrounded by 3 dudes calling him out because he was walking around handing people mortars and cans of spray paint

The protests in Portland and Kenosha were started and populated by agitators. People went with the intent of causing mayhem, and were encouraged to do so by organizers and local politicians.

I may be wrong, and I have no problem admitting that. Seeing so many burning buildings and cars, people beating or in some cases killing, and looting out the wazoo, it seems like more than a few cases. The top dogs in the BLM movement sat back and watched the money roll in. Don't get me wrong, I believe there are many people that believe they are supporting a good cause, and they peacefully protested with the purest of intenions. Still with all of the damage in city after city, "a few outlier cases" doesn't seem a good description.

Are we really going to spin things this way now? BLM/Antifa riots happened on an almost nightly basis for months and involved thousands of people. Were there many legitimate peaceful protestors who comprised the majority? Yes absolutely, but lets not downplay the actual riots that left over 30 people dead, many other injured and over a billion dollars in damage. You're comparing apples to oranges.

Between 15-26 million people joined those peaceful protests for more than a year and across more than 2 thousand cities. 9 people were killed in that time. I'm going to guess that Covid killing 2% of those infected is not a problem but BLM protests killing 0.000013% or ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND times less is an atrocious injustice.

From what I have seen, many of the deaths came from opposition driving their cars through the crowds. Horrible & unnecessary.

The problem with this logic (I own silver) is it's probably not true. Like "Peak Oil" we've very little info on how much actual Silver and Gold exist. While still rare and useful, there could be plenty more as it is a centrally controlled asset class. Cryptocurrency like Bitcoin is the natural successor as you can't "print more" or mine more once its all gone, plus its all publicly visible. But when the power goes out, Bitcoin is mostly useless as a means of transfer which puts it back to less useful than Gold and Silver. Tldr; buy both.

Isn't knowledge good? My understanding is that this "knowledge" is simply the act of assigning "good" and "evil" to various elements of our nature rather than simply living as God designed us.

So for example, most people see the act of throwing trash on the landscape as bad. Here's a radical thought: what if throwing trash on the landscape were good? If our food came packaged in biodegradable wrappers, and the waste consisted of seeds and pulp (as all naturally-produced and naturally-harvested food is, if you aren't involving Big Oil in preserving and packaging it), then our detritus becomes nutrients and new growth of beneficial and nurturing foods to surround every path and road we make. It's like when I say something to someone who went to college and got a degree for something and they aren't using that degree for their current job.

They immediately double down on their decision. They have all this college debt and they say things like:

1) The college experience was worth it

2) I work a job that pays me more for having a degree even though it's not in the field I'm currently working

3) If I ever want to change careers I've got the piece of mind of having a degree

And I'm like "I can work your same job and get paid less and still have similar cash flow as you because I don't have student loans..."

Because I did go to college for a semester and a half. Then deployed to Iraq and came back and was mentally fucked, went back to colleg for a semester and ended up dropping out. My college experience pre-deployment was awesome. I was an athlete and went to parties and all that jazz. Post-deployment was drinking and bar fights, having issues with PTSD to the point I couldn't focus on classes instead I was scanning for threats the whole time.

I knew plenty of people who got the college experience without even attending college though, if that makes sense. Unless you're referring to the experience of waking up for classes and taking notes etc etc...

I never said anything about a PhD. The content on Khan doesn’t cover much past the first couple years of STEM bachelors level stuff. Occasionally you’d find some obscure Indian YouTuber that happened to cover the topic you were wanting, but often their teaching quality was bad.

While I agree that a lot of what you learn in the later years of university are not usually directly applicable to a “real world” job, ie I didn’t directly learn about how ground faults work at uni, and learned that on the job, although, ground faults are not necessarily that difficult of a concept to understand. The benefit of what you learn in the later years of uni provide you with a good foundation so that when you come across these things that you weren’t taught, you are in a position to learn them quickly and actually understand what is at play.

University, or any method of learning before having to use the info, cannot possibly prepare you for every scenario and teach you everything there is to know about a job. (Especially when it comes to engineering, which is such a broad discipline)

Generally, a masters program better equips you to perform a more specific job, and the things you’ll learn are more directly relevant to a job you might end up in, but I’ve only heard that from friends as I haven’t done a masters myself.

Also a phenomenon that I experienced was similar to your boss, I went to a “good school” compared to some of my friends, but their courses tended to be more applicable to industry, where as my courses were more academics orientated.

ELI5:Basically, in a 3 phase motor you have each supply phase being offset from each other by 120deg. As the current alternates in each phases windings an alternating magnetic field is generated. (The force that drives the motor).

Due to there being 3 phases, all phases offset from each other equally, their forces are “strongest” at different times. The direction that the motor spins just depends then on which phase is next. (Physically, as in how the windings are laid out.) The first phase “pushes” on the motor, and by the time the motor has moved, the next phase is now “pushing” on the motor, and so on as it self sustains. Swapping two of the phases will just cause this behaviour to happen the other direction.

Slightly more detailed: the sum of the magnetic fields over time can be simplified as a “rotating magnetic field”. The direction of rotation of the field(and therefore the motor) is dictated by the flux density difference between two points in time.

Dunno how else to really explain it without delving into the maths for it, but it isn’t that hard a concept to grasp, such a weird hill for you to die on lol. There are definitely concepts out there that many engineers would have trouble understanding well. (Harmonic distortion is one that comes to mind for myself), but motors are pretty basic physics. Hell I learnt 1 phase motor physics in high school.

Well it depends on the motor. 3 phase motors can be built as 3 independent single phase “motors” so you can have discontinuity between phases. That’s how the pumps work at my work, each phase is electrically isolated from the other phases on the gen/pump side of the transformer.

I forgot about other configs because I am so used to dealing with the type we have. It’s essentially 3 seperate inductor pairs.

So where do military officers fall into your view on college degrees?

My personal experience is the officers I deployed with that were first enlisted and then went on to become officers were amazing leaders. The ones who went from civilian to college to in charge of troops were a nightmare... That's usually my first goto answer.

BUT

I can't speak for all the officers though. Because there were some that never enlisted and were friggen amazing leaders. There were also ones that enlisted that were shit leaders as enlisted and then went to be shit officers.

So to sum it up, since I'm speaking out of both sides of my mouth, it really depends on their leadership style. The officers that looked out for their guys in the field regardless of rank were always good in my book. We had one younger ROTC guy in the TOC that went to bat for us all the time. He never spoke about it but I heard from other leaders about how the ROTC officer was butting heads in the TOC with other officers because of the crap they were trying to pull on us. That ROTC officer was always going to bat for us, again I never personally saw what he was doing but judging by the instructions we were given, I'd say he had our best interest in mind!

TL;DR : If you're heads in the right place you're a good leader... If you're heads in the wrong place you're trash... Huh, the same can be said about political "leaders" as well.

Many people don't mean to do the wrong thing or fight for the wrong clause, they were duped and lied to by evil people. Sometimes the lies are very sophisticated. For example, using fear and social isolation is a mind control tactic. Using clothing to identify fellow cult members is a mind control tactic (masks).

The red MAGA hats were a red flag (no pun intended) pointing to psychological operations. Red is an important color. We studied it in school. When 95% of a class touches their ankles when a certain tone is emitted after being hypnotized with a suggestion to touch their ankle when hearing the tone and nobody remembers why they did it, it's hard to call it b.s.

Funny that you mention school. They used to bring a hypnotist in to my public high school once a year. I thought it was so weird and out of place even as a student. We would all pile into the auditorium, and the hypnotist would put on this type of “stage entertainment” show- calling on about 6-8 volunteers to come on stage to be hypnotized for the amusement of all. That’s how it was presented- as a comedy, as something fun.

Within just a few minutes of “listen to the sound of my voice… relax into the chair….count backwards from 50…you are very sleepy, so sleepy….” he would have the volunteers swiftly “put under” and doing whatever dumb things he commanded like mooing or barking, just random embarrassing but harmless stuff.

The key things I remember are 1) there were always 1 or 2 volunteers he grabbed and silently ushered off stage pretty quickly as he worked on the others, 2) I assumed everyone participating was faking and just playing along, as it was all so utterly ridiculous and seemed to be impossible, 3) He implanted post-hypnotic suggestions! I remember one girl in particular, he told “for the next hour, if you hear the word “orange”, you are to immediately jump up and yell “I love Principal Smith!” And she did it, 10 minutes later, and then immediately had this look of horror and confusion as everyone turned around to stare and laugh at her.

They always did the post hypnotic suggestions he gave. I told myself they were just being good sports! But it gave me a vague unpleasant feeling noticing every time that none of the kids gave any sign of fakery, like no moving around, giggling or smirking, just blank faces the whole time. Each year it was like that. He said moo, they robotically mooed. There was an undercurrent that just felt somehow malignant about the whole affair, even as I convinced myself they were putting on a very strange sort of theater and the audience laughed when they were meant to laugh.

In recounting this story over the years, I’ve heard from others that their schools also did something similar. And I have to wonder- were hundreds or thousands of schools across the country engaged in some sort of large-scale experiment? Gathering data sets on a large population sample of young people? What the hell was the purpose of it? And what’s more likely- that a purely innocent show of getting students to pretend to be hypnotized in order to amuse other students was somehow even conceived of, let alone encouraged as an appropriate interlude to a school day- or that something majorly shady was afoot? I still don’t know. It’s completely suspicious, but I can’t know for sure.

Can anyone confirm that they’ve truly been hypnotized like this before? This is probably the wrong sub for firsthand accounts, but it would be nice to know.

I asked my partner who is 9 years younger and went to high school in California and she said they didn’t do that so I wonder if it had an ending date or a year they stopped the experiment, if that’s what it was. I think that's the influence of rationalism/the enlightenment and a reaction, tbh. Karen Armstrong (if memory serves) pointed out the church/christian thinking, essentially split - half going the way of attempted rationalism the other half going towards mysticism. She argued about the trinity regarding this in her History of God. The rationalists tried to make it make sense whereas the mystics said the point was that it didn't make sense.

I’m having the exact same experience right now. I got back to Montreal yesterday, and fuck is real life depressing when you’ve just witnessed the most beautiful sight of your entire life. I’ve never felt so connected to my community—the air of the entire event was one of pure love and unity. Now I’m back to bickering with my classmates/profs about the unconscionable nature of the mandates. While I certainly do enjoy doing so on occasion, it doesn’t quite compare to being surrounded by hundreds of thousands of kind, loving, freedom-minded people peacefully overtaking their tyrannical government. A sick part of me hopes the protest continues for a couple of more weeks just so I have a chance to go back. Single greatest weekend of my life.

P.S. my violent crash to reality was definitely exacerbated by the fact that my uncle spontaneously died of myocarditis the night before I left (he was fit, healthy and recently boosted).

Eating healthy does not have anything to do with whether or not you can catch and transmit a disease to others who may be more vulnerable for any number of reasons. Yes this is black and white. The two precautions we can take against this specific disease are masks and the vaccination created for the explicit purpose of lowering your likelihood of catching/spreading the disease as well as mitigating symptoms. Sure go ahead, eat healthy that’s great, but at best if will help you recover better if you do catch it. To act like eating healthy is somehow comparable to the vaccine is to be willingly and purposefully ignorant of the advice given by the plurality of virologists, medical doctors and other researchers in the field.

Yes, vaccinated people going out with symptoms are disregarding the safety of everyone around them, that’s bad too. It is also why I said some precaution. But I guess I should clarify by saying I meant “precaution developed and advised for this specific disease by a large majority of the scientific/medical world.”

Which strain are we discussing? Which company’s vaccine? How many months after vaccination? For all major strains up until Omicron after 2 months the vaccine remains 95% effective, after 7 months it had dropped to 80%. There is a lot less information about the current strains response to the vaccine though it does seem to be noticeably diminished. Regardless, it is still necessary to take whatever precautions we can. At least for a bit longer.

It works, and it works quite well! Less likely means less likely. I don’t understand how any of this is confusing. The vaccination is effective at preventing contraction among other things. If you don’t catch it, than you can’t spread. Again, really not understanding how you are this confused.

A lot of them have really downplayed the devastating effects of covid (its just a flu!) and spreading the false narrative of a 99.99% safety rate of Covid. Its very simplistic, doesn't account for living with sometimes debilitating conditions after getting cpvid, the overwhelmed health system and workers, etc. A lot are babies that won't wear a mask for 5 minutes to buy groceries because its a nazi tactic or something.

They also have this false belief that people who have gone along with provincial guidelines, wear masks, social distance etc are sheep, when really, they are just people who understand the severity of the situation.

I’ve been putting some thought into this, how so many can be so easily led to where we are at this point in our existence. I think a lot of it has to do with how we are raised, and it somewhat ties in with what people refer to as NPCs. My theory is that the people that are buying into all of the noise, MSM, politicians, etc..they’re the NPCs. The reason being, as children they were conditioned to never question authority, that it’s desirable to fit in, to find their place in the rat race and stay there. They may have had strict expectations imposed on them by their parents, and had their individuality, free will and critical thinking skills stolen from them. These are people who go with the grain because there are parts of their own creative mind that never got to grow in early childhood. They did what their parents/teachers/authority told them to do. To believe what they’re told to believe. Any steps outside of their assigned box was discouraged or disciplined. At their core operation, they’re just cookie cutter clones of their parents and education system. It’s like how they say, the easiest time in your life to learn a new language is before the age of 5. I believe it’s around the same for the crucial brain development that can only occur if a child is given the opportunity to explore their own mind. If a person had helicopter parents that never let them do dangerous things safely. If they went through the indoctrination of the education system being taught that they come to school everyday to learn a lot of useless information and were forced to believe it’s wrong to question the teachers or show up without completed homework. If they never got to let their minds wander or were shunned for asking “ridiculous” questions. If they never got to tell their side of the story. If they didn’t get the chance to get bored and be unsupervised and become actual individuals. Or maybe when they did do those things, they were dragged to a doctor as being a “problematic” or “strong-willed” child and had a label slapped on them like ADHD and medicated into submission. So that part of the brain just never develops and they become a part of the herd. They’re boxed in, and it’s just as hard if not harder to break out of their box as an adult as it is to learn a new language. They have to WANT to, first of all, and have the resources to do so once they want it. Otherwise, they’re content just believing life is about going to work a job they’re probably not happy at for 30+ years, marry a spouse and make their own clones, go on vacation to a spot that some advertisement on TV told them to go, fit into their assigned role in society, consume, consume, consume, and post it all on social media like that’s the dream. That the government has our best interests in mind and that there’s any amount in integrity in the media. Anyone who doesn’t fit this mold early on, they’re taught that we are outcasts, misfits, trouble makers, disrespectful, losers, undesirable, lacking direction, dreamers. So when we question things as adults, we’re mocked and their hatred for us is deep. Maybe deep down they wish they knew how to question things like we do, and that the first answer isn’t always the right one, so their own lack of ability to ask questions, coupled with their intuition screaming that something isn’t right, is probably manifesting as anger and hatred toward us because the voices of their early childhood still echos in their mind, telling them that being outside of society’s box is a destructive path. I could go on and on, but that’s my theory in a nutshell. It’s not to say they’ll never wake up, but until enough of them do that we become the majority, they’ll continue believing that daddy government would never mandate or even approve something that’s unsafe.

TL;Dr - NPCs are just brainwashed people that need to heal their inner child and let themselves be curious in order to shed their indoctrination and leave the herd.

Continuing this thought process. The path to waking up and shedding the indoctrination is incredibly muddy right now. It’s muddied by politics, movements, opinions, etc. Celebrities involved that are preaching “safe and effective.” I find that when you involve too much extra static, it pushes people away because it’s overstimulating and they hop on the defense when they feel like you’re attacking their preferred politic/celebrity/movement/etc. We gotta take the left vs. right especially out of it. It’s simply that there are a lot of rich and powerful people that want to be even more rich and powerful, and the 99%+ are doing the work for them. Politics in general are a hot button issue as it is. If we want people to see the truth, keep it as simple as possible and just keep highlighting the most important facts. A very small few elite people own everything from the company that makes the multivitamin you take everyday, to the record company who signed your favorite band that you listen to on your way to work, to the company you work for, to the bank your check is direct deposited to, to the brand of chips you get in the vending machine, to the phone you make calls from and network it goes over, to the news station that tells you everything you believe, to the billboard you drive by every night on your way home, and yes, also the manufacturer of the vaccine you were told is safe and effective. Show people that nearly every aspect of everyday life is literally curated by a mysterious investment company worth a higher number than most can imagine that hides behind loopholes and lawyers, and beg the question-do you really want to trust this ultra rich secret conglomerate that wrote the script, or are you ready to be in charge of yourself and stop being another share they own?

What is the solution in your opinion? Of course if you believe that all these mandates should be lifted and life back to normal, are gonna hide or fight a virus or just live with it?

I'd be more interested in the solution of the movement, if I'm entirely honest. The mandates from the provincial governments aren't being affected by this protest, and nobody in the federal government is there anymore. Now a bunch of loud people are in the city of Ottawa, protected by protest laws. These guys are honking at regular workers, and disturbing their sleep, and if this shit was happening in America, someone would probably be shot by now.

Edit: I'm being downvoted because questioning the source of an alt-right protest doesn't agree with the idea that it's fully grassroots and justified. For people commenting on a conspiracy/free thought forums, I've found the pull of groupthink from y'all to be fully against the thing that are claimed.

I totally appreciate this opinion. I'm not over attached to the convoy itself or the movement and would like to find more constructive ways to express my frustrations and views. But it was the gathering of people with shared experiences, who do not want to take this vaccine that felt so impactful.

What blew my mind is the response to shit that I've seen tear leftist groups apart. Nazi flag? $6k reward for info to find the person. Homeless shelter harassed? I've only heard that those responsible were asked to leave the convoy, haven't been able to confirm it. Leaders consulting with first Nations peoples, all sorts of supplies organized, opening one lane at Coutts as a gesture of good faith. And now the UCP in Alberta just announced the vax passports will be scrapped. That was what, less than a week?

I was previously a part of 3 leftist groups. 2 disbanded or were reorganized and exclusionary due to petty infighting about things that, on a grand scale, really didn't fucking matter. Nothing, or very little that generated real results, got done. I joined those groups because I wanted to make a difference. I spent all of my time in each walking on eggshells, toeing the line, I still got burned from one, and I really didn't do a whole hell of a lot beyond a couple minor demonstrations.

If we banded together, and laser focused on the cause, we could make massive fucking changes. We could potentially take down or redistribute control of MSM, create a UBI, do something about the dragons hoarding wealth while everyone else suffers, etc.

My concern about the backers of the convoy remains. Some of them were responsible for running through picket lines in Regina a while back. So I'm worried it's more of a drive to just get businesses back functioning with no issue than it is a movement for and by workers. But the bulk of the folks involved appear to not be aware/in line with that.

This pandemic has highlighted a lot of broken aspects in our society. We could use this momentum to push for change. Healthcare funding, social supports, UBI, goods production returning to the west, etc.

i think its also because of how media have spread a wrong image of what america looks like.. (just include the whole north).. as an asian who watches movies and videos, all i thought was that america is almost headed for some purge stuff in their country.. but it isn't that far.. so that when i went for Radio Garden App and heard the music and the channels it made me reconsider my thoughts about your country...
