One of the doors in my house is a bit broken and can be pushed open if it is shut, so my dog will push the door open to chew on towels since it leads to the laundry room. The first week we had him he didn't realize that was the only door that could be pushed open so everytime you went to the bathroom you would just hear a few footsteps then thud followed by whining.
Well at least he learned eventually.
My dog does this repeatedly because he knows we hear the thud/whining. At least I hope that's why...

For anyone who's concerned, (ducks) ducklings have evolved to basically be living rubber, with very soft bones that don't break easily. They often jump from extremely high places, even into concrete, and just bounce off. This little guy was just fine, I guarantee it.
