Is it a boo ghost?

The first time, yes. The next time, no.

The first time we wrote it off as being very creative homeless people. We heard what sounded like a Scooby Doo ghost coming from the woods. A very loud spooky moan. Like, "Whoa-oh-oohhhh-ohhhhhhh!! Whoooaaa ohhhh ohhhhhhh ohhhh!!!!!!"

We stopped and looked around but couldn't figure out what it was. We decided maybe it was a moped going up the hill, and the distortion (like how a firetruck siren seems to change tones as it passes by) made it sound like a spooky ghost. So we kept walking, and then it happened a second time, louder and closer. We didn't see or hear anyone, but we Scooby-Dood it on out of there.

This time, a decade later, we have a toddler so we didn't attempt to do much exploring. Our friend was following behind us in his jeep. When we pulled into the hotel, we both unmistakably heard the sound of a car whooshing past us, but there was no car. I was looking out the window and there was definitely no car. For a second we thought our friend had passed us by accident, but I was looking out the window and could see down the road. There was no car, but we were definitely passed by something. We asked our friend if there had been a car between us and he said no. I am absolutely sure something passed by us to make that noise. It's a very common, recognizable noise, right? But there was no car. No motorcycle, nothing.

There is something in those vine-covered hills......

I used to live in NC on the coast. Seemed haunted in places

Me too! Everywhere is haunted in places, though.

Probably a "the hills have eyes"or Voorhees haunting.

The first time, yes. The next time, no.

The first time we wrote it off as being a creative way for homeless people to scare us off from their room, and we accepted that as the most plausible explanation.

The next time, we got passed by an invisible car when we pulled into the hotel parking lot. You know the sound a car makes when it passes you? It's pretty recognizable. We both heard it, and I was looking out the window when it happened. There was no car. No motorcycle either. We were being followed by a friend and he said there had been no one in between us, so I can't explain that one. I felt it whoosh by us, but I saw nothing.

No, it's not. You should see the other stuff in Cherokee. There are LOTS of teepees......

Until you said that, I thought it was a spartan.
