The actual back story behind the guy is really just sad

He was entirely convinced that his community was victimizing him, specifically the owners of a cement plant that was next to his muffler shop because they were having a zoning feud.

One thing he was well-known for in Granby was welding bumper bars for snowmobiles and being pretty friendly and active in the snowmobile community, but on the lead up to his breakdown (it legit took him a year and a half to make the tank) he became super withdrawn and something as innocuous as a wave hello would be interpreted by him as some sort of malicious taunt. In his audio diaries, he talks about how God made him specifically for the purpose of creating the machine and going on a spree, definitely a case of unchecked mental illness.

People glorify his rampage somewhat because it’s only results were his own death and property damage but he also took potshots at people and tried to blow up a propane storage facility in the middle of the town with the .50 cal rifle he had inside the tank.

There are some sussy parts about some of the local’s stories about him, but if he had accomplished what he had set out to do we would probably look at him a lot differently.

Good or bad, I like to think of him whenever I feel powerless

What’s he got a .50bmg in the suburbs for he doesn’t have nowhere to shoot it nor should he need it for home defense unless he’s trying to cut whoever’s limbs off and probably cause some damage to the neighbors house seems overkill for where that is

Suburbs? Tell us you've never been to Granby with out telling us you've never been to Granby. Granby is 31 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park, bud. It's straight in the middle of the mountains. šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

Well no I don’t live near the Rocky Mountains it be like a 16 hour drive to get there and actually I live in the middle of nowhere where I shoot all the time and I support guns a lot i just don’t see a reason to have a 50bmg in the middle of the suburbs

Hey, don't be snitching on your neighbors like that. Delete this.

Lol I’ll edit it out

Place is a shitshow (I can say that because I live there.)

I feel shame coming from that community. It was just sad.

Yeah, he commuted suicide after doing this as well. It was a pretty awesome machine though.

Yeah but he went out with a bang

He was actually semi-well off, bought property that doubled in value while he owned it but when the city asked him to stop dumping human shit in the river by hooking up to the sewer system his response was ā€œfuck you I’m going to engage in wide spread property destruction.ā€ Which also explains why be has become a Libertarian hero; would rather destroy an entire town over acknowledge that other people exist too.

Blatant misinformation with bad-faith political agendas. Gtfoh

Lol. Ok homie. Please tell me what conditions existed to justify him going on a rampage destroying private property vs. him just being a psycho.

What? Do you know what happened? His business was cut off from the road by a concrete factory, when he petitioned for an access road to his shop they denied it (twice mind you, he even paid for all the equipment himself which he later used to build the killdozer). And the construction of the factory (which cut all traffic to his business) broke his sewer line, for which HE was fined and not the construction company.

https://youtu.be/Bo9Vu_X6lKw

So

1) even if your narrative is true that doesn’t justify a city wide rampage.

2) he knew the property when he bought it, knew it wasn’t connected to the sewers and he got it for a very fair price. And rather that connecting the property his response is to go full psycho? Yeah. That’s why he’s a libertarian hero.

In 1992, Heemeyer purchased 2 acres (0.8 ha) of land from the Resolution Trust Corporation, the federal agency organized to handle the assets of failed savings and loan associations, for $42,000 to build a muffler shop. He subsequently agreed to sell the land to Cody Docheff to build a concrete batch plant, Mountain Park Concrete, for $250,000.

Holy shit me made $208,000 on that property. What did he have to be pissed off about?

He was subsequently fined $2,500 for not having a septic tank on the property his muffler shop occupied.

Again, they asked him to stop dumping shit into the river and his response is to go fully unhinged and destroy peoples homes?

Anyone who sees this guy as a hero is a fucking moron. He was just a psycho who could have just walked away with a shit ton of money but instead decided to attack the town he lived in. Like I said, libertarian hero because fuck everyone whose not you right?

Context? Idk what's goin on here

Killdozer, after getting screwed over by zoning committees and other state officials Marvin Heemeyer built a homemade tank and knocked down a bunch of buildings belonging to the people that screwed him over. There’s a really good documentary about it on Netflix called tread if you’re curious.

Hmm... Got nothing better to do this summer so why not

You should look into earth moving equipment.

This is all pop culture BS, he was never screwed over meaningfully by anyone but himself and his rampage was certainly not limited to any people or structures in particular.

You want to know the real story of Killdozer? It's very simple. Marvin Heemeyer was a well off man from his automotive business he'd sold who bought a muffler shop in a small town for $42k.

Another local businessman came to Heemeyer and offered him $250k for the land. Heemeyer initially accepted, then later demanded $375k. After the businessman was able to secure additional funding for the 375k Heemeyer then told him he wanted a million.

Then the business owner told Heemeyer that was absurd and that he'd build it on another piece of land nearby. Heemeyer tried via lawsuits and harassing the zoning board to prevent this and force another negotiation to the table, but he failed.

Oh and the sewer issues? That neighboring business offered to let Heemeyer use the pipe they laid for their business saving him tens of thousands, but again he refused and demanded they pay for the line on his property too. Of course that didn't work either and Heemeyer found himself even more socially isolated and the victim of his own poor decisions.

It was at that point that he decided the most reasonable course of action to not being able to fuck over the people around him was to go on a rampage to destroy the town. The people who "screwed him over" were people like zoning board members who he harassed and had followed all the rules, or the judge who'd thrown out his obviously frivolous case after years of litigation.

His list of targets included the newspaper, town hall/court, the city church, and several residential buildings. Many of these targets were for personal grudges, usually for not letting him fuck them or someone else over.

He was not a hero, he was a terrible person and domestic terrorist.

Seethe fed boy. The batch plant was deliberately placed in the road to his shop and he wasn’t permitted to build a new one.

The batch plant was deliberately placed in the road to his shop

No it wasn't. That's Heemeyer's lot in blue and the concrete plant in red, with W Meadows Road still running directly past both lots. The road was never restricted.

The concrete plant is still there, as is Heemeyer's lot, and the road that has still never been touched.

The road was never his contention in the first place, it was his sewage that he had major issues with the city over. He had issues because he pumped untreated raw sewage into the gulley behind his shop when it rained, which lead to that sewage running into residential areas.

Plants create a lot of traffic and the construction blocked him off. Combined with the dust from the plant and that the construction happened against his will and with him constantly appealing it and getting his appeals struck down, it’s no wonder he did what he did and I have no sympathy for the people that drove him to break shit.

Plants create a lot of traffic and the construction blocked him off. Combined with the dust from the plant

I'd love for you to show me on the map how the concrete plant could possibly have blocked him off. The concrete plant owns the entire subdivision with the loop road west of the main plant too, and used the paved exit toward W Agate which was the main highway through town.

He also bought the property he had knowing it had been a former concrete batch plant - he used their old buried mixer barrels as his septic tank. He knew the land next to his was zoned for the same, since it had been part of the same business. If he didn't want a concrete plant opening nearby then he chose the wrong place to open his shop.

He also had the option of both the 250k and 375k buyout that he agreed to if he wanted to sell, and he ultimately did sell the shop for 400k prior to his rampage.

Combined with the dust from the plant and that the construction happened against his will and with him constantly appealing it and getting his appeals struck down

The reason why it was eventually approved and his appeals were struck down is because the concrete plant took care of everyone else's concerns. They added systems for dust and environmental protection, they added aesthetic landscaping, and they followed every rule. At one point Heemeyer discovered a clerical error in the process and so Docheff, the concrete plant owner, started the entire process over from the start again. Docheff followed every single rule to the letter.

Heemeyer at the end of this sold his land for 400k, 10x what he bought it for less than a decade prior, before going on his rampage. He wasn't in a desperate place nor was his land undesirable. He was just an asshole who was angry he wasn't allowed to bully the people around him.

You cant fault someone for building where someone used to be, even with proper regulations which I don’t believe were being followed to a tee, a concrete plant will still produce a shit ton of dust and noise.

Qxir makes some good shit

Guy gets screwed over by local government, takes non-lethal revenge

The real story is that he tried to screw over another local businessman several times and failed, then dedicated all of his energy to a personal vendetta against anyone who didn't enable him.

He bought his land for 42k and was offered 250k for it, which he accepted. Then he went back on the deal and asked for 375k, which the businessman was eventually able to secure and returned to sign, wherein Heemeyer then demanded a million dollars. The businessman, recognizing how insane the demand was, instead resolved to buy a nearby plot of empty land instead.

That enraged Heemeyer who thought he could fleece the guy for a cool million, and it lead him to filing several lawsuits and harassing the local zoning board in an attempt to force him back to negotiation.

Nothing that was "done" to Heemeyer was unfair, if anything the city and locals were more gracious than he deserved. The concrete plant owner even offered to let Heemeyer run his sewer line off the concrete plant's, which would have saved him tens of thousands, but of course he demanded they pay for the line on his land to and the whole thing fell through.

Also important to note: Heemeyer was independently wealthy from selling a prior auto business when this whole situation started. At no point was he ever desperate for money except to have more. He wasn't rich, but he had enough to comfortably retire at any point throughout the story. Yet he still chose a suicidal rampage.

I remember something about it

A man went on a full rampage with that machine and destroy a bunch of property, I don’t remember the exact reason but it had to do with some unfairness that happened to him? Now im not sure about this but I think he modify it in order to be completely bulletproof and at the end he killed himself?

Not sure about this

This exercise doesn't look safe, slip once and you look like the dented baby meme

I’ve done it a lot and it’s pretty safe. Never hurt myself. The weights aren’t slippery and you are careful while practicing it. Only an uncareful person would hurt himself

Lots of people tend to be uncareful

Noooo you’re gonna hurt yourselfšŸ¤“

I think it's only if you your palms start to sweat. Then that's when it slips

What is he trying to work on the exercise, shoulders? Arms?

The killdozer rampage. Caused 2 million $ worth of property damage and killed no one. A men guided by jesus, and a caterpillar with a sarcophagus made of steel and concrete, so heavy that he could never get out, but nobody could get in. He was so unstopable, that the police department in the town requested for an hellfire missile to be used against this improvised mechanized cavalry.

my favourite machine is the time machine

Only because you can go back in time and witness this great machine in all its glory, right?

no cuz my gf died 1 year ago
