Wait for the AK simulator.

Edit: I didn't expect the melee simulator: https://www.reddit.com/r/shittyrobots/comments/r31dga/i_made_robot_for_video_game_addiction/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

You clearly have heard of Michael reeves

Or the gangbang simulator

Or the teabagging simulator.

or the pegging simulator

i'll take two

harmony will be achieved when this drops

Or the stimulator simulator

We already have the necessary technologies for that.

Or the bukkake simulator

What’s that?

[deleted]

It must be a teaching technique. They keep saying L2P.

Or your mom simulator

kinda curious about this. the implementation, I mean. you'll have to use a game that is able to recognise teabagging, like splitgate, and the setup will have to receive a notification of the act

I’ll wait for the bukakke sim

Boyscout summer camp?

I'm sorry, the WHAT?

THE GANGBANG SIMULATOR!

I saw a video with such a mod:

https://youtu.be/fxmLD8y0RNQ

Enemy nuclear weapon inbound

Just go to school

This reminds me of the folks that would deliberately put attempted-seizure-inducing lightshows into random videos back in the wild wild west days of the internets.

God those days were bad for just about everybody. Kinda miss them though cause they also saw just so much potential.

The one where a scary thing popped up when you were too busy counting people. Or something like that.

Or that goddamn car ad with the screamer at the end

This was bad. Around a windy road right? I still remember

I would love to know why in the fuck that one scared me so bad. I remember it so vividly because not only did it just about scare the literal piss out of me but i watched it with my mom for the first time and it made her fall out of her chair, which was the biggest scare I’d seen out of her at that point in my life lmao

I got chills reading the comments about it - WHY DID IT AFFECT ME SO BAD 😂

I would like to know as well.

I haven’t watched it many years, and the person above me was enough to bring back all the memories of it. These things stick with you I guess.

gorilla suit man basketball!

But from then on we all know any video saying something like "count how many times this menial task gets done." We all know that the counting aint really the task... Even when it was...

...

I should have counted the children like they ask me too... Maybe they wouldnt have been forgotten... But how? HOW?! How could I have known that the Principal wasnt hiding a man in a gorilla costume! Or that the children WERNT passing a rubber duck! ITS NOT MY FAULT! THEY WERE THE ONES WHO DIDNT LEAVE THE WAX MUSEUM BEFORE CLOSING! WE ALL KNEW THE RULES!

Will never forget that one. Gave me nightmares for two years and idk why because I could handle horror movies from the age of like 7 no problem. But ghostly car ad actually altered my sleep pattern for two. Fucking. Years.

Ah yes, that's not a car ad. That's a coffee ad. From Germany.

It was a coffee ad! I would link it but im not going through that trauma again. It was the car driving on the windy road surrounded by a lot of grassland and the scary face pops up and it fades to a coffee drink in a can

Need a link to this one cos I remember it but can never find it

https://youtu.be/Wz1W_omigwg

fuck you, I was already having a shit day, now I'm extra angry

[jk tho <3]

Would watch this on stupidvideos.com all the time

Or that goddam poptart ad with the 'baaaaaaaaaaaam' at the end.

Colorblindness test got me.

Also one GIF occasionally posted to 4chan: a staircase down into a basement, with barely-visible figure at at the bottom... and then swiftly not at the bottom.

I remember reading a horror manhwa that caused the screen to automatically scroll down to a jump scare. Not fun.

EDIT: Found it if anyone wants to read it

You're probably talking about "bongcheon dong ghost", haven't thought about it for like 7 years but its still ingrained in my mind

I don't think I've ever heard the word "manhwa" before, but I'm going to guess it's the Korean equivalent of manga and say I had the same experience.

Didn't know HTML5 could do that.

HTML can’t, but basic Javascript can (and potentially some really hacky CSS3 with transitions, but that’s relatively recent in the history of the internet). JS would be far easier.

"HTML5" broadly refers to the modern web stack, especially in the period between Chrome / V8 and the introduction of WebAssembly.

Wha? No. HTML5 is just the most recent version of HTML.

In my 20 years as a web developer I’ve never heard anyone refer to the entire modern web stack as “HTML5” at any point.

Any software that exports games "to HTML" is obviously using Javascript. I don't think I've ever seen the HTML5 logo used outside the context of HTML as a software platform, where all of the stuff besides literal HTML is necessary and taken for granted.

For example: Godot, Unity, Unreal, GDevelop, Construct, GB Studio.

Aww, it doesn't work anymore :( I loved sending that one to people.

I remember an actual maze game where the image popped up on the third level.

THE maze game

You remember one of the most popular flash games ever broski

Rip flash games. www. Tetrisfriends.com is gone but not forgotten.

Newgrounds uses a special flash client written in Rust to continue playing all those OG videos and games. Even works on mobile!

Tetris friends no longer hosts the game. That’s why it’s gone. And other Tetris games don’t have the same mechanics so it’s hard for me to get into them

That one is a Halloween of 2004 classic.

Like this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

Most important rule of the internet: XcQ link stays blue.

But that song is unironically a banger

This one is just a giant ricktease.

wait, that's not where the streamer's name is from right?

no, i believe it's:

x: from the final letter of his name (felix) q: city where he's from (quebec) c: country where he's from (canada)

and the OW from, overwatch

It's the dQw for me tbh

Here's a better link. Don't worry, it isn't Never Gonna Give You Up.

https://youtu.be/yPYZpwSpKmA

thats a dqw4 m8

It's an OwO with a monocle

Looks more like a dqw4 w9 to me

fucking knew it. clicked anyway.
Everyone just fucking lost the game tho.

Fuck you. I just went a solid couple of years too. Might've gone to my grave winning that damn thing but no

I still can't watch the exorcist because of that shit

I don’t do scary either haha

Oh no I love scary movies so much. Just can't to that particular one because of the trauma

Lucky you. A whole genre is off limits to me for this reason (I think)

Can't forget meatspin. Legendary

they ruined a perfectly good halloween cypher with that nonsense.

The wild internet was raw but in its on way innocent. No propaganda, all kinds of crazy shit to see without anybody censoring it. Way less ads, better people somehow and the complete lack of morality in a world where the person wins that fucks your mum the best.

because early internet was made by nerds and enthusiasts, today’s internet is made by politicians and marketing consultants.

If the Metaverse actually happens maybe we'll see real life snow crashing.

I’d be excited but fuck Facebook and everything it’s attached to.

long time steam vr user here, fuck Facebook and their splintering of the vr landscape (through exclusives and the quest's intentionally low price) that has turned one of the most promising industries for entertainment and experiences into a hellscape of exclusivity and content drought.

Also, thanks for fucking with index users. How many games dumbed down the graphics to the most common denominator?

Fuck Facebook/Oculus.

ELI5?

no idea how you found this post but I haven't been too active in the VR scape due to a combination of not having access to my VR kit and having lost interest in PCVR due to a lack of notable games (haven't had a new game grab my attention since Alyx/Boneworks)

but Facebook was/is paying studios to develop exclusively for the quest, used an aggressive loss-based-model (no way an all-in-one vr kit costs $400) to push people to their own ecosystem which is seperate and hard to use with steamvr.

vr games are developed first and foremost for the quest now, and are then ported to steamvr. so yeah, it sucks having been in the VR space since 2018, seeing it *almost* take-off with star wars squadrons, pavlov, hotdogs horseshoes handgrenades, half life alyx and boneworks only for all steamVR momentum to kinda... die out.

if you look at the most played games on steam under vr, they havent changed in forever.

no idea how you found this post

LOL I just came across DiWhy and was going through top posts and found this. Started reading comments and I guess I forgot it wasn't a current post and just commented lol

but thanks for the reply! I've never owned a VR set and am only aware of the Oculus. Thought it was great that a VR set only cost $400 and was going to get one soon, but I had no knowledge of the broader ecosystem and fb's effect. bummer

honestly, go for it if you want. personally ive avoided facebook's products intentionally but you'll get the best out of VR on the quest because it can connect and run on your pc through software, so its not like you'll be locked out of steamvr, its just that steamvr is locked out of oculus vr.

The good old days of "Hey this seems like a fun video ...and there's the guy with the jar."

Hey man, click this link! I promise its not goatse.

I still remember one of the very first websites I’ve seen at a friend’s house in 1995 as a 14 years old kid was goregallery! we both puked lmao

I used to have epilepsy as a kid until adolescense. And i was super paranoid of those things, i remember a story about Pikachu's eyes changing colors too fast and causing kids epilepsy. I used to avoid any video of pikachu, until this day i never liked pokemon.

it was an episode of the original PokĂŠmon anime, in Japan. It was an episode featuring Porygon, a cyber PokĂŠmon. Ash's Pikachu used a lightning attack on some missiles and the explosion was animated as rapidly flashing frames of red and blue. the episode only aired once and was not rerun due to complaints of headaches and a handful of epileptic events.

While this episode meant that Porygon and its evolutions would never again feature in any future Pokemon episode, the backlash from that episode created an opening for a director working on a Pokemon film then to design a new legendary Pokemon: Lugia. This was the first legendary Pokemon to not be designed by the core Pokemon game team.

At least nobody was trying to overthrow government or influence the masses to be anti science back then. I would take the old internet over the modern internet any day.

Arab Spring was literally a chain of uprisings due largely to social media in 2010

Cigarette companies used to pay doctors to recommend their products

No you wouldn't. You're either blinded by nostalgia or dug your own grave that you don't want to climb out of. For all its faults the modern day is still better than a decade or two ago.

2010 isn't old internet, it's the start of the new internet. When smartphones started taking off and social media started being for "everyone" and not just college students.

2010 was already a few years into the modern internet.

[deleted]

Web Rings, Affiliation buttons, Altvista, Dogpile, iframes, Netscape, AOL, NetZero... Man, to me, old internet is like mid to late 90s.

Anarchist cookbook floating around teaching us how to make napalm and thermite

Yup, and easily downloadable trojans to fuck with your friends.

Lol. Oh yeah. We totally used BackOrifice

There are so many lists we're probably on... geez

IRC and IRC Wars with all the scripts and shit, when you used to scavenge for the IP address of someone who argued with you on chat just to send him a DDoS or steal his ownership of his IRC channel

Shittt, I can't believe we use to give out our IP addresses back in the day to connect to a multiplayer game. Like, I remember Zone.com only supporting a maximum of 4 player Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 rooms, but the actual game itself could support upto like 8 or 16 if I remember right. You'd start the game, alt-tab out, edit your Zone.com room description with your IP address, so that when the room maxed out, someone else could join thru the games builtin IP direct connection and you could get more than 4 players in.

It's like... Jesus, we were giving the keys to our house to random strangers back then.

Dear god why does this app make me feel so damn old.

2010 isn't the wild west of the internet bro. We're talking like pre Facebook internet which is like before 2005

He's talking specifically about the internet, and yes, it was way better 10-20 years ago than it is today.

Idk what you’re on about. Social media became significantly worse for society the second boomers were on board and the second Russia realized it could be used as psychological warfare. Look at the US’ anti science and misinformation spread that has taken 800,000 lives in the pandemic and elected Trump, who attempted to overthrow our democracy via violent mob. None of that shit could have happened in the 2000s when YouTube was demonetized and the internet was a free place.

We elected Bush and invaded 2 countries based on lies, leading to way more xenophobia than anything Trump could’ve dreamed of.

Trump ruined our democracy, made the US a laughing stock, bolstered racists and bigots, and divided Americans more than Bush could have dreamed.

Gentlemen, gentlemen! Look, I think we can all agree that BOTH SIDES ^^^^^of ^^^^^conservatism are bad!

( ಠ ͜ʖಠ)

america has been a laughing stock for a while now

Yeah since around 2016.

Also the 2000s. But that was more "oh God what an idiot" to "OH GOD what an IDIOT!"

I've been laughing at you since 1996, it would have been earlier but I had to be born first

Ruined the democracy? It’s never been a democracy and he ruined nothing lol. The US has been the laughing stock of the world since Reagan. I’ve heard things like American pigs from Euros wayyyyy before Trump even got the apprentice.

Yeah I would say violently attempting to overthrow the presidential vote and spreading voting misinformation because he’s a sore loser is undermining democracy. That’s the most blatant abuse of power we’ve ever seen. He literally lied and tried to tell everyone he won the presidency when he lost badly lmao. What a scum fuck bum

You are a fucking moron if you think Trump was worse for this nation than Bush. Trump was annoying and a laughing stock, Bush invaded 2 nations based off known bullshit that led to hundreds of thousands dead and trillions spent on nothing. And a bonus cache of war crimes to boot. Also Bush vs Gore if you want to discuss fucky elections.

Nah. Imagine if Trump was in Bush’s shoes. We probably wouldn’t be a country anymore. It’s scary to imagine what he would do during war time. He was too busy trying to start a civil war at home.

imagine if...

but he wasn't, so bush did more harm

It’s a good thing that all of that was irrelevant even at the time it happened. They vote was never going to stopped/overturned and everyone with half a brain knows that.

Bro don't you realize the apocalypse is upon is, you dont realize Trump is like the first bad president ever, theres never been anyone this bad ever ever, back in the long long lost history of 10 years ago everyone sang koombaya and everyone respected the US and like, yeah.

/S

Lol, Bush literally created all the anti muslim and privacy invading shit that every government since then hasn't gone away with. Bush is literally the reason why almost everything went wrong, and the late 90s indestructible economy imploded itself. Trump didn't even do anything that notable. It was hilarious seeing the media bitch about him 24/7 for literally anything. He did nothing that groundbreaking at all and nobody cared.

Our democracy isn't ruined, simmer down.

And the US being a laughing stock? To who? Specific western countries that always laugh at us? Most of the world does not laugh at the US. And who cares if they laugh at us? Just such an absurd thing to care about.

There are probably a lot less bigots and racists these days, just the ones you see now you hear about.

As for the country becoming polarized, thats just a result of social media and Russian interfering in our politics (sources say they bolster both parties).

Just calm down with the sky is falling shtick. When you get older you'll realize it's all the same

The US had been a laughing stock since the early 2000's. Racists and bigots are extremely liberal in comparison to past America. The media divided the nation. Trump was nothing new. In fact there were two presidents exactly like him.

We did fuck all, I doubt there are many people in this thread and reminiscing about the internet in the early 2000s who were capable of voting for all of that.

Roughly the same percentage of people were ~~antivax~~anti-maskers in the last global pandemic 100 years ago. It's just all the current ones are visible to you so you think it's worse now, when in reality it's just more visible.
The internet of 2000s was wild, vile, putrid place filled with the worst kind of trolls, pushing all the available boundaries. The reason you think it was better is that you were 20 years younger.

The reason it seems better is because it wasn’t curated to you based on what an AI deems your collected online Presence wants to see, it was just whatever was out there and you had to go out and find it.

Internet was better when we weren't the product, now every company wants to monitize your viewing and browsing habits.

The fuck do you think you was back then? The same consumer of ads, just costed a bit less. You are always the product, the only reason this is all exists is because our attention costs money

It was curated to more general audience by SEO scammers, and I don't know why do you think it's much better, and before search engine were a thing internet was a small novelty without any real usage outside of very limited applications.
It seems better because people feel nostalgic about the past, it's in our nature.

[deleted]

Sorry, I was talking about anti-maskers, mixed my bunches of idiots

Yeah, having vast access to science and research and 100 years of research should not mean antivaxxers remain the same (if that’s even true). Facebook and Twitter conservatives are solely to blame for anti intellectualism and anti science propaganda that led to over a million deaths.

I was talking about anti-maskers, sorry, mixed one bunch of idiots for another.
The point is, there will always be a bunch of people who reject reality, science and reason. It's not the problem of access of information for them, it's a problem of tribalism among all the other weird characteristics. Similarly, majority of people wouldn't be persuaded by terrible facebook memes as long as there are other sources of information available (which might not be the case in the year of our lord Zuck 0000, which will might arrive anytime soon)

Yeah, it was better.

So less regulation of media would lead to less misinformation?

Reddit moment right here.

It was like the first season of a long running TV show. So much potential, not sure where it might go yet, but several of the elements that will become very recognizable later are kind of there. As years go by it gets more defined and bland, and then it finally jumps the shark. After that the only thing to do is to extract every last drop of profit from what's left by unloading as much merch as possible.

That is a really good metaphor for it.

Potential for what? Facebook?

Or that time some asshats hacked a forum dedicated to people with epilepsy and made it strobe.

Do we need to bring back the “who is 4chan?” clip? Those were good old days.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM-booRzCYY

Those edits are obnoxious and ruin it

I just remembered the incident, forgot it was 4chan (but of course it was)

I'm going to hell for laughing at this.

Started to rewatch Monty python and the holy grail last night. I completely forgot about the flashing lights at the beginning.

Kanye did that with the music video for All of the Lights because some rapper he had beef with had photosensitive epilepsy

Is that true? I thought that the video was based on Enter the Void, but I’ve never heard of the beef part. I do remember that epileptic organizations criticized the video so they later released a disclaimer.

Looks like your version is right actually! I may have been thinking of a different rapper who did something like that but google's failing me

Not only videos also Webpages of some people.

They did the same thing with Cyberpunk 2077

there was a pokemon episode that caused epileptic seizures iirc

Yeah but that was accidental. People used to hide them in videos intentionally because they thought it was funny to "troll" epileptic people.

Anyone who thinks the early internet was some sort of utopia where everyone was excellent to each other either has rose colored glasses on or is too young to actually remember it.

Yeah I fondly remember the days of trying to download songs and stuff off of Kazaa/Limewire and getting everything from Trojan viruses to the most fucked up pornography that I couldn’t even comprehend. I was like 7 lol

I miss the early days of downloading pirated movies off Kazaa only to end up with porn

But it always was the same videos...

I tried to download Lilo and Stitch and got Embrace of the Vampire (basically just Alyssa Milano topless non-stop). Wasn't that mad.

I really tried to download Star Wars Ep 3 in 2004 before it was probably even done filming

But you got the legend of Zelda song by system of a down didn't you?

Lmao who actually thinks that? Seriously this just reads like a complete strawman.

It certainly wasn't a utopia, but im willing to bet the average users IQ was a few points higher and they had a higher general level of science and engineering knowledge. There were still idiots of course, but a few less idiots when people thought the internet was for "nerds" and old conservatives actively avoided computers.

Who thinks that? Everyone was vicious to each other. It's just that that no one cared, so no one complained. If someone got upset by what some random anonymous person said, they would be the one that got laughed. Hell, tricking someone into looking at a picture of a man spreading his gaping assholes was considered good sport.

With social media, though, everything changed. The biggest difference is that things are genuine, personal, and real since it involves real lives and identities. Plus, corporatization of the internet made everything centralized, creating echo chambers. It's trading one ugliness for another.

No the trolling of this level was the best part

Or is older than you're thinking of and is talking about a time before the Eternal September.

Which caused Japan to make a law back then and now any flashing lights of a tv show that could even remotely cause a seizure is dimmed to hell. It can be distracting when a show has any sort of bright color/effect and it instantly looks like a night time filter was thrown over it. Stream/dvd/bluray are exempt though

It was a weird era for Japanese politics. That's honestly why the Virtual Boy sucked. The technology was originally head-mounted - it was an executive gimmick for, I shit you not, viewing faxes on an airplane. Gumpei Yokoi saw that and wanted to turn it into his parting gift to Nintendo. And they believed in him: new factories were built just to produce this upcoming project.

Then Japan passed some absurdly strict safety laws placing 100% liability on the manufacturer for any problem that was not explicitly warned against on the box. So the packaging got ugly and scary. And Nintendo worried about kids wearing a headset and falling down stairs, so it got a fixed stand. Which was convenient, because new research showed misalignment of images could leave children crosseyed, so they quickly locked the adjustable mirrors to a heavy rail system. But, even with all that bulk that sitting in one place, it was too late to change the processor or video hardware, so it was still too slow for anything but sprites and wireframe, and it still used batteries.

Additionally, there was one hurdle that was outside anyone's control, which is that it was all red. Zoomers who grew up surrounded by obnoxious blue LEDs may not know that they were invented in 1993 and did not become commonplace until this century. There were "green" ones, but it's that dull tennis-ball green, and they were slow. The Virtual Boy has no screens. There's just two lines of blinking lights and some spinning mirrors. So the only choice was a vibrant red stereo image, in what Yokoi described as infinite black space. Unfortunately - this meant your night vision builds up, after about ten minutes of gameplay. So when you sat back from this mildly inconvenient gizmo, it surprised you with eyeball-searing sensitivity, especially if you were playing a demo unit in some gigantic toy store bathed in fluorescent light.

Anyway, it completely bombed. Like the 32X, it did okay in North America, but the home company in Japan quietly killed it. Yokoi still resigned, but stuck around long enough to throw together an apology, in the form of the Game Boy Pocket. It came out a few months after sales were picking up for this weird new game called Pocket Monsters. As apologies go... not bad.

Thank you for the detailed and interesting behind the scenes! I'm fascinated with archaic and doomed consoles.

Theres a test for this that pretty much all commercially produced media is run through these days. Thats why everyone freaking out about a strobing sequence in i think the last Toy Story movie (?) was pointless because of course Gisnep would check if they were seizure inducing flashes. Its a liability for childrens media especially not to in a post "Electric Soldier Porygon" world.

https://www.hardingtest.com/index.php?page=pse

damn avid anime watcher here and I never looked up why that was a thing, I assume it was for better contrast or something idk. TIL.

From what I hear, that episode actually had some major plot points that people (outside of Japan at least) didn’t know about for a few years.

Like I think ash caught his 100th tauros or something like that.

You're thinking of the Safari Zone episode, which was banned for having a ton of guns being waived around and pointed at characters. Electric Soldier Porygon didn't have any major plot points, AFAIK.

You’re right. Good catch. In my defense that episode came out (in Japan) right after my second birthday.

But yeah I could see that episode causing issues. Especially in current day!

Same with like random jump scares. I remember my 13 year old self was trying to watch hypnosis videos where you look at a wall afterwards and instead got the shit scared out of me

Ebaumsworld

"Party time". Iirc someone on 4chan got into a major website for epileptic people and put those videos all over it.

In the wild west days of the internets I remember the first time I saw a screamer.

It was around 2004 and I had my volume all the way up. It was that flash game where you had to navigate your mouse cursor though a cyan color maze against a black background and towards the end it becomes really narrow. Then it jumpscares you with a picture of the possessed woman from The Exorcist and screams at you. I never trusted anything on the internet after that.

Deliberately aye? I didn't know this was a conspiracy

I actually got a seizure from this and had to go to the ER

One does not speak of pr0ject m@yhem.

wild wild west days of the internets.

Aren’t we still in it?

dont forget the jump-scares. Until this day Im wary of pictures/videos that says look into x.

Even pokemon cartoon had a go

There is still something like that z0r.de

Man I freaked out over some jumpscares back in the day. Youtube is far from perfect, but I'm glad we have it.

When I wanted to play agario I accidentally searched agorio. Didn't help it was during a class as well.

Don't need that if you have an hdr monitor.

relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp2EjsIYIhQ

I ordered a Samsung Neo G9 yesterday. It apparently has a peak brightness of 2000 nits.

That level of brightness on a monitor is pretty much unfathomable to me. I might limit it somewhere decently below that...

I’ve had one for a year now. You’ll never run it at that brightness but I warn you, all white screens like the loading screen in Star Wars Fallen Order.. pretty blinding still because of how much of your field of view it takes up.

White loading screens should be illegal.

The Google app's weather screen on Android loads white and then switches the color based on the weather. It blinded me countless times when looking up the weather while still in bed

what is a nit

A nit is a standard measurement of luminance. Like lumens.

The little buggers in your hair

It's in the mirror, queerbait.

The newest iphone(i.e. a screen meant to be used in broad-fucking-daylight) is 1200(peak). So yeah... You're gonna want to tone that down a smidge. But also peak is different than standard. That average on the iphone is 800. so you're probably looking at around ~1300ish assuming the ratio is the same.

3 days ago, relevant!

Asus PG32UQX

Wow, so 1100 dimming zones is pure trash. The new 16" macbook with mini-led display has 10k dimming zones, meaning you need like 20k dimming zones on 27" monitor to actually have a good HDR experience. I guess I won't be buying HDR monitor until like 2025.

The MacBook Pro actually has 2554 dimming zones, but 10,216 Mini LEDs.

[deleted]

I mean literally watch the video? The blooming looks absolutely awful. Just because something is best you can buy in it's class does not mean it's any good.

[deleted]

I mean, he literally said it did in the video

No, the bloom isn't so obvious in person. At stock brightness and contrast, the bloom is only visible when viewing white on black and even then it's subtle enough to appear as regular 'bloom' that you get around bright stuff in real life... if that makes sense? I even had to check the variable backlight was on just now when I was looking for it.

If I sit off to a side then the backlights become more obviously visible, appearing as a dark blue/purple glow that can be seen in the video. Camera picks this up a lot more than I can. But then the camera fails to to justice to the contrast between the bright and dark areas this monitor can display too, so that might be why.

Ramp the brightness and contrast up to 100% and sure, it becomes noticeable in desktop applications. There's an 'inverse-bloom' effect, too- if I have a mouse cursor over a white backdrop, it makes the surrounding area slightly darker, causing a subtle ripple effect as I move the cursor about. I can assure you that you won't want to be using word or chrome at 100% brightness- that stuff is wasted on text (and quite unpleasant- the shadowplay menu in games like Doom Eternal literally GLOWS, as opposed to being regular white. It's really cool to see but way too bright compared to the game behind it, and not what you want from menus that you're simply trying to navigate.)

But what you want to know is: how much do these things ruin the monitor? I know that my major concern was that FALD artefacts such as these would be distracting or unpleasant, but they're not. I can disable the backlight for some programs like Magix Vegas where there are lots of lines and mixed types of media that I'm trying to edit, but the rest of the time I'm fine with the glowing / rippling the backlight produces in desktop applications. Obviously, if it does annoy me for whatever reason then I can turn it off until my next gaming session. It takes 6-10 actions with the dial below the monitor to do this but it's muscle-memory at this point. And of course, in games and movies it's great to enable the backlight for the massive contrast it provides, which is what this monitor's all about.

Hey you're the guy that does the things. Enjoy your content man. Thanks for the more detailed review, since the video does make the bloom seem super dramatic.

I agree, in the video it does look ridiculous, like "why the hell would anyone actually buy this?!" levels of ridiculous. Good to know it's not awful in person.

Yeah it's definitely not awful- but it is a niche product you need to know the ins and outs of before even considering. It also happens to be great for blinding myself with flashbangs :P

I'd liken it to one of those early VR headsets, where for most people it isn't worth the hassle but for a certain type of person who enjoys experimenting and dabbling with new tech, its imperfections are almost 'benefits' that you can have a lot of fun dabbling with. I spend a lot of time trying to understand the backlight tech. There are 3 different modes which all look distinctly different, but at first glance it's hard to tell what they're all trying to do.

Its brightness makes other monitors appear very, very flat. I look at white bits on my old monitor and can see the pixel matrix and a greyish colour behind that. On this one it's a blinding white glow. Another thing, too- there's a rich bright, red colour that this monitor can produce that I don't think I've ever seen before on a computer screen before. I mean, I'd take a pic to show you but what's the point

That's fair, it has some cons but it has it's pros as well. I get it. I personally struggle with migraines so I think the brightness would honestly make it unusable for me even if I thought it made gaming look really pretty.

In the video everything looks bright and washed out, but as you said it's due to the camera picking up light differently than your eyes do.

Yeah and it makes my old (perfectly acceptable) monitor look horrible with its grey blacks and grey whites

Well I'm glad you're enjoying it! I wish I could experience it to try, but brightness is a big contributor to my migraines; so yeah, I think even if it looked gorgeous it'd just make me feel like shit.

Thanks :) Yeah this sort of video is all about having fun. Happy to clarify it in the comments for anybody wanting a better description of what the panel's like

I mean yeah, but blooming has been a common complaint by lot of people who own these expensive monitors and if I am going to pay thousands of dollars (PG32UQX costs $3000) for a bloody monitor I expect it to be amazing for normal use, not early adopters stuff that's not really ready. I don't need professional-level color accuracy or perfect response rate just imperfections not be immediately noticeable.

He called it a "fouled display" at 0:58, then shits on it for 40 seconds before finally saying "only a fool would buy this monitor" I guess YOU are that fool because you can't even sit through a 3 minute youtube video and understand what it is saying.

He wasn't saying fouled, he was saying FALD (Full-array local dimming). Look it up.

FALD is not a commonly pronounced acronym, so yeah, not a stupid mistake to make. But he does totally shit on it for 40 seconds after, then say "only a fool would have this monitor". Meanwhile r/FabulousFerds said "Yup, and I don't remember the part of the video where he said it was shite." He shat hard.

He explains what FALD means like five seconds after.

See other message.

Let me quote you.

I guess YOU are that fool because you can't even sit through a 3 minute youtube video and understand what it is saying.

I think you'll find this proves you wrong.

Obvious rick roll is obvious

I mean I won't lol.

Did you watch the video? The local dimming zones are SHITE looking in this model.

FALD, not fouled. If you spent like five seconds listening he immediately explains what FALD means.

Thanks IDGAF go waste your life on someone else.

Yawn he doesn't explain that he said an acronym. Don't care your point is dumb.

"It goes about it's blinding brightness thanks to a FALD display which means that, hidden behind the normal screen, are over a thousand LED lights which just can't wait to light up and blind you." He gives a decent explanation of the meaning. Anyone confused by this could turn on captions, or ask somebody, or anything but assuming it means something other than what he spent the entire sentence explaining.

Yawn he doesn't explain that he said an acronym.

GUYS GUYS, if you want to know specifics of the monitor then you can just ask me instead of debating the semantics of a video where I use a $3000 screen to repeatedly flash my face.

Maybe you can set u/Robo_Stalin and u/FabulousFerds straight about whether "only a fool would have this monitor". u/FabulousFerds seems to think it is the second coming of Christ and all those disbelievers must repent. ALL NEW TECHONOLOGY, NO MATTER HOW SHIT IT ACTUALLY IS, MUST BE LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY. NO WAITING FOR IT TO IMPROVE.

Where did he say that? As for 'only a fool would have this monitor', that's a bit of self deprecating humour since obviously, I have the monitor. It isn't worth the price premium for most people, but given my circumstances I justified it to myself.

Out of interest: if money were no object and you were given the choice between having this monitor, and another one that's the same but without the backlight, which would you pick?

Local dimming sucks if you are a programmer. So OLED or uniform LED for me.

Yeah, I guess you don't need a bright monitor if all you're doing is programming and arguing on reddit

No I like bright monitors. It's just bloom sucks. It makes text less contrasty, and is bad if you want to see how your app will look on 99% of devices. Local dimming really is only good for tv viewing. Which is cool if that's what you want to do on it. But I use my computer monitor for computer stuff.

Local dimming really is only good for tv viewing

^^^programming ^^^and ^^^arguing ^^^on ^^^reddit

Maybe the problem isn't the monitor, but the fact you think computing is limited to displaying text :P

I'm sorry but I'm sick of talking to someone 8 comments deep whose multiple retorts amount to "kek you just argue on reddit". I appreciate self deprecating humour, maybe stick to putting it in youtube videos.

[deleted]

Because you hung shit on someone expressing surprise that this many local dimming zones is not good enough. Like it is the truth. Local dimming sucks for anything other than TV watching.

Nah 1100 dimming zones is fine in gaming and videos where you'll actually want to use this level of brightness. The bigger problem is how quickly you get used to the brightness. Got to regularly cycle on and off to continue appreciating it

So what you're saying is, you got used to it blinding you and lighting up the room like Blackpool Illuminations?

Honestly I feel like HDR is poorly implemented in most games and videos I've used so far. At default brightness, most titles seldom (if ever) get 'very' bright, so for a treat I like to bump the brightness/contrast from 50 to 70 (out of 100), which is when most stuff starts looking good. Ramp it up beyond 80 and all the brightest areas begin to blend together which you don't want because then you start losing detail. But of course, brightness and contrast were set to 100 for this video :P

I guess the brightest parts are meant to be reserved for special occasions, but I got this monitor damn it and I want to make full use of every nit it can muster!

That's such a weird hill to die on lol

What do you mean, I don't understand.

Or just get an oled, sheesh the tech is already really good. My Sony A1 is nearly 5 years old and has been my tv and gaming monitor the entire time.

I mean I am talking about monitors 32" and smaller. I would get a TV but in my current small apartment, I really have no place for it.

Probably only hdr600 and above anything below that has "gentle" white light.

Yeah I have zero desire to ever get an HDR monitor or TV. My monitor doesn't have HDR, and out of the box I had to turn the brightness down to 10%, and it is still too bright sometimes. Why the fuck would I ever want shit to be brighter? Why would I want to have to squint at the sun in a movie or game? What a trash feature and I don't know why anybody would want it.

It’s far from just about being brighter, it’s also about having much more gradation in levels of brightness.

I mean, you can allow brightness levels that blind you, but the point of HDR is that you get closer to the dynamic range you perceive in the real world.

Mmmm sour grapes with a dash of completely misunderstanding HDR.

Like the other poster said, it's not just about being brighter. It's about contrast and giving the image more room to breathe, it's literally in the term High Dynamic Range. The eye searingly high brightness numbers are never used in a full scene, but rather to bring out small specular highlights. At the same time on the opposite end of the spectrum HDR also makes for better handling of shadow detail.

In short, HDR is about getting monitors closer to displaying what our eyes can see, thus making an image look more natural.

You don't understand HDR. It's about the range, not the absolutes. It means being able to display an image with more levels of brightness than normal. When you turn the brightness up on a normal display, you turn up the dark parts just as much as the bright parts. With HDR you don't, it increases the dynamic range, meaning the dark parts of the screen will still be really dark, but the bright parts have the capacity to be brighter. That doesn't mean they will blind you.

And HDR isn't remotely a trash feature, the complete opposite. It's something that's far better than something like 4K. We own an LG OLED, and the difference between SDR 4K and HDR 4K (especially something like dolby vision) is massive. And it's not just about whites, it's all colours. It allows the display to show more colours, allows it to look much more realistic, etc.

That said I've heard the implementation on PC is still pretty shit. But on a TV it's brilliant.

Do you guys ever notice that you can't help but squint when you look at a photo of the sun on your monitor? Even though it's not actually that bright

No, but sounds like a healthy reflex. Maybe it's because you actually look at the sun once in a while. You degenerate.

For me also iMacs. I have it always at 30%, max 40% brightness.

Only when watching movies i go full 100%.

It seems cool for outdoor watching

It's a calendar

Why is he reading a calender like a newspaper?

Here's the original cartoon

[deleted]

I agree with you, I was just posting the source as a point of reference.

Hello George

we live in a society

There’s a new strain coming out of southern Africa. We’re all fucked.

The African rabies, aka Solanum? No worries, winter is coming; that should freeze our problems.

Ahdonwanit.

There will be new strains coming out of every developing country for years until vaccination caches up globally (never?).

Best line in ghostbusters: “listen! Do you smell something?”

DID IT MENTION WHEN WE'LL BE ABLE TO SEE AGAIN?

[deleted]

I have to yell that whenever I read that reference

I yelled it in my head... Lol

Totally worth it.

Just make the wavelength 670nm then it'll be good for your eyes

I see someone else is spending too much time on Reddit today.

EDIT: this is what you missed https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/r12ky7/just_three_minutes_of_exposure_to_deep_red_light/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Wait, what did I miss?

Just spit it out, for god’s sake!

Nothing, insignificant sample size, not a reputable source.

Wait, what did I miss?

Gotta make sure you play in the morning though

Always play in a well lit room.

I didn’t know this until my mid 20s after a lifetime of gaming. Noticed I was getting more frequent headaches at night. Found out it was related to bright lights in a dark room

  1. Game a lot.
    Migraines have been frequent as of late.
    Might have to turn some lights on.

Look into a quality pair of those gaming glasses. They really did help my buddy.

I think that was the placebo effect.

If it worked, does it matter?

Bias lights help

Why? Playing or watching TV in a dark room isn't an issue if it doesn't cause you eye strain, and more importantly it looks way better.

Is it really?

Idk just how bad it is, but it ain’t good.

Would depend on how bright it actually is on if it would damage your eyes. If it just relies on you playing in a dark room then it’s probably fine. If it’s bright enough to temporarily blind you in a well lit room it could cause damage.

Could it really? I'm doubtful, this is just white light. It's not like looking at the sun where you're being blasted with UV and IR as well.

Light carries energy no matter the color. And you can still burn out your retinas with overly powerful white light.

I’m skeptical that any computer monitor could actually put out enough power to actually do so, but this looks like a custom light added on so who knows. I doubt it could cause truly permanent damage, but it’s not something I’d want to find out.

I’ve got one spot in my vision that’s a constant little black/rainbowy speck from my cousin holding me down and shining a flashlight right into my eye 20 something years ago, so even plain white light can do some permanent damage.

Light carries energy no matter the color. And you can still burn out your retinas with overly powerful white light.

But not all light is equally as damaging, not even close.

I’ve got one spot in my vision that’s a constant little black/rainbowy speck from my cousin holding me down and shining a flashlight right into my eye 20 something years ago, so even plain white light can do some permanent damage.

That's weird? Where to in your visual field, could you try and explain it a bit better? Are you sure it's not just your blind spot? A flashlight, especially one from 20 years ago causing that type of damage sounds weird.

Dead center, down about 1/4 in my right eye.

You know how if you shine a bright light and then close your eye and you get that rainbow looking splotch? It’s like that permanently. It moves with my vision as I move my eye around.

That's bizarre. I would suggest getting and ophthalmologist to check that out when you can. I can't really understand how that would happen, or why that would be the result.

It doesn't sound super close to your blind spot, and I don't know how it would end up causing weird issues like that either.

I have and that’s what he said. Too bright for too long and flash blindness can become permanent. Said he’s usually only seen it from things like laser pointers, but a bright enough light can do it with enough intensity or enough repeated exposure.

it's like the people who mod realistic flashbang sounds into the game.

They do realize what those high pitched frequencies do to their ears right?

High pitched frequencies don’t damage your ears on their own. They’re more damaging at a given intensity, but they still need to have a level of intensity necessary to cause damage.

What? I can’t hear you over my tinnitus.

[deleted]

I don’t think that’s possible to overestimate humanity anymore. Not after 2016.

But realism dude!

Well it’s a flashbang of course it’s bad

It’s fitting that this video also has the musical equivalent of being flashbanged.

Hahaha r/MakeMeSuffer

Michael Reeves has entered the chat.

Not enough tasers

Well. That would be v2, right? Electrify Mouse and WASD, then wait for the Zeus.

Added bonus: Your eyes will no longer work in a month

Just enlist at that point

Staring at the sun would be much easier

So, does anybody know how he got this to work with a CS flashbang?

CSGO exposes game state so it's actually quite simple.

  • You can use the CSGSI api for an easy time getting a flashbang event listener.

  • Connect a arduino to led strip with data

  • Connect it to PC via USB
  • Make an app that receives that event, and sends command over serial port to arduino
  • Script flashed to arduino that has function for toggling the intensity of led strip

Here's some simple code for the app side of things:

private void Main() {
    gsl = new GameStateListener(3000);
    gsl.PlayerFlashed += PlayerFlashed;
    gsl.EnableRaisingIntricateEvents = true;
}

private void PlayerFlashed(CSGSI.Events.PlayerFlashedEventArgs e) {
    //Note: This event is possibly raised when any player is flashed
    //So may need to ensure it's yourself being flashed with e.Player.Name
    SendEvent(e.Flashed);
}

private void SendEvent(int flashIntensity) {
    if(port == null) {
        string[] ports = SerialPort.GetPortNames();
        port = new SerialPort(ports[0], 115200);
        port.Open();
    }

    port.WriteLine($"Flashed={flashIntensity}");  //flashIntensity is between 0 to 255
}

Arduino Script: (Note: the definitions here are for my own LED strip that I use for my piano, if anyone actually plans to use something like this you'd need to change it to your own stuff)

#include <HashMap.h>
#include <FastLED.h>

#define DATA_MAXSIZE 40
#define DATA_MAXVARS 10
#define DATA_PIN 2
#define NUM_LEDS 100

    FastLED.addLeds<LED_TYPE, DATA_PIN, COLOR_ORDER>(leds, NUM_LEDS).setCorrection(TypicalLEDStrip);
    FastLED.setBrightness(28);
    SetRGB(0, 0, 0, 0);
}

void loop() {
    while(Serial.available() > 0) {
        ProcessSerial(Serial.read());
    }
    FadeOut();
}

            inputPos = 0;
            break;
        case '\r':
            break;
        default:
            if(inputPos < (DATA_MAXSIZE - 1)){
                input[inputPos++] = inputByte;
            }
            break;
        }
}

void ProcessData(const char* input) {
    CreateHashMap(Data, String, String, DATA_MAXVARS);
    char* key = strtok(input, "&");
    while(key != 0) {
        char* val = strchr(key, '=');
        if(val != 0) {

            Data[key] = val;
        }

Nice. I’m gonna rig it up to a gun that shoots you anytime you get damage

start with small bullets to build up resistance

https://youtu.be/D75ZuaSR8nQ

Probably rigs it up so that any time the screen has a certain % of white showing, the LEDs light up.

Finally a way to make people switch to dark mode.

If not manyally triggered for the sake of the video

Next he will make one that shoots you in the head when you die.

Lmao

But like, why?

that's the point of the sub.

DIY that makes you go "Why?"

Yea I get that, but every now and then I gotta ask it anyway when I see stuff as ridiculous as this

Shits and gigs. Same as the guy that mounted the electric motor to his desk as a rumble pack to "feel the recoil" lol. Built it, laughed at it, took it apart, just like we've all done at some point

It's a meme in CS. Sometimes when pros get flashed you can see their face go completely white in the player cams. This is just building on that joke.

Google "jks flashed" to see an example. (It's nothing sinister, I promise)

Because it's funny and then you take it down after recording this

Because it's a joke just like this sub has become

this is perfectly fine for this sub tho. DIY stuff that makes you go “why”.

But it doesn't make you go why it's purpose is obvious. To be a joke.

Would be a good gimmick for a streamer tbh

I feel like I this was more of a prank but I could be wrong, can't imagine doing this on purpose to yourself.

It’s a trend right now in the CSGO community to see who can make the most blinding flash bang set up.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ybaK3y_6YXg

Dude, why is it that when I flash somebody, it's like I just slapped them in the face with a fucking napkin from a little kid's birthday party.But when i get fuckin flashed Its like some big brolic black dude named fuckin REQUIS pulled a bedsheet around my head and proceeded to skull fuck me

Lmfao

https://youtu.be/PhIpNHO-OTY

Shit, now I want a new ISP with great data rates.

Got banned from multiple CS servers pre 1.6 due to being dumb and wanting to see what putting a magnet up to my crt monitor would do. Well it messed up a small part of the screen, however when I got flashed in CS, that spot wouldn't turn completely white and I could still see a bit. I'd get some kills then get banned. 10/10 would fuck up a gateway crt with a magnet again.

How would they know that you could still see , lol. All monitors back then had VGA connectors which is a one way communication channel.

Even then, the monitor would do nothing to you being able to see, as the picture would still be exactly the same.

suspect behavior of seeing through flashes?

They are saying the monitor was unable to display the bright white overlay which let them aim precisely even while flash banged. Anybody spectating would see the flash, see them aim through it, and see a kill in the kill box then immediately report them.

In the words of Joe DirtĂŠ, "I don't know what you're saying, but that's what's going on yeah".

Bruh, take a second and think about it. The way online game works is that the server everyone is connected to is constantly sending everyone information about what they should be doing, and your monitor, regardless of type only displays what the server tells it to display (With a little bit of client side too).

In the older CS 1.6 or older, If you got full blinded, as in, the flash exploded in front of you, your screen would be full white and there's absolutely nothing you could do (except for using cheats) that could make it so that you werea ble to see even full blinded. Why would someone "fucking up their CRT monitor" would be able to make it so that the server/clientside actually sends your client information that you should not be seeing? Flashbangs have never worked like some magical overlay in CS, in any of the CS ever

My guess is that his story is a complete lie or he's completely mis remembering things, If he was able to see things even "while flashed" that just literally means he was not full blinded, and avoiding flashes in CS is not.. particularly hard, just turn around

Sounds like you dont know how games work lol

The server does not control what the client renders pixel by pixel.

In a perfectly coded game it might be true that the client does not render or receive location updates while flashed but many games (maybe most) are not well coded.

Yeah but in CS the server absolutely tells your client "You are currently flashed". The only way to bypass that is by using cheats that basically avoid the server ever telling your client that your character has been flashed. Maybe what the other guy is saying is true, but I would personally guess it is not.

The main reason I doubt the story and why I think it's some embellished story for no reason is because who the fuck bans someone else because they got some flashed kills? Maybe If the server owner got killed while he was full blind and he got pissed because well, kids? Sure, it could happen once or twice but nah, I don't believe that part of the story at all. In the first place while flashes last the longest in the old HL1 engine version they are also probably one of the easiest to avoid as well. When I played CS back in the day there were absolutely bonkers wallbangs that not everyone knew, especially people that played in PUB servers and whenever I did them in pubs that never got me kicked/banned ever. Fuck man even in pubs people sometimes had fun fooling around with the 100% unavoidable flashbang bugs (most known spot of this being outside CT spawn in Dust2 towards B where the 3 greenboxes are, you throw a flash in between those and you completely 100% blind anyone on upper tunnels because bug)

I mean... That is not what the server tells your client. the server sends a TON of information to the client, constantly. The client acts on all of this, constantly.

That aside, Again, there isnt just an overlay for flashing and it does not just "tell your client you are currently flashed." The client would continue to render the game and combine the pixels from the game and the pixels for "flashed"

The flash doesn't just instantly turn on then off, it has to fade on and fade off. So it is not just a static screen. It spends some time at 100% flash then beings fading. at 99.9999% flash, your game is technically visible but no human could ever see it. Your monitors contrast would affect what you could see, buggered contrast could allow you to see more than they expect you to be able to.

Ultimately, though, my point is that you knee-jerk reacted as "this person is lying" without understanding the situation or having any details. You doubted it based on nothing.

Not saying it was an auto kick, I would get banned by admins. This was possibly before punkbuster or slightly after (played off and on since it was a beta). I'd get flashed and still kill whoever flashed me so you do that enough times to an admin they'll assume you're a 1337H4x0r and ban you.

How would magnetizing part of the screen let you see something that the computer isn't outputting to the screen? Why would the graphics card be sending signals to the monitor which the monitor wouldn't normally be able to show?

Hell if I know. The only thing I can assume is the way the flash bang worked is it would the jack up the contrast and somehow putting the magnet up to that part of the monitor messed with it and allowed that section the of screen to not be completely affected.

It wouldn't. The story is complete bs.

I know, but I was hoping for a response anyway.

When I was little, my brother's and I would often say stupid shit to each other to see if they'd believe it.

Well, one time I told my brother not to put a magnet bear a screen. And he thought I was pulling his leg. I'm like no seriously don't! So he tried to call my bluff and stuck a magnet right near my brother's computer screen, and sure enough, it fucked it up.

I think it eventually went away, it might have had a degaussing coil in it, but for a while there was a rainbow streak in the upper left corner.

useless and most likely bad for you but seems like so much fun

This is some Michael Reeves level of DiWhy. I love it.

How to burn your retina in 3 2 1 ..

It’s a cool enough idea, but just put them on the back of the monitor lol.

No mount an AR on the monitor so you can actually get shot too!

Next project, .50 desert eagle rigged on top of the monitor for that authentic boom headshot experience.

This is so stupid it's brilliant. Or so brilliant it's stupid. Well, technically it's stupid AND brilliant at the same time.

When I use the tactical nuke goal explosion in rocket league.

Reminds me of when i tried Payday 2 in VR. Flashbangs thrown by the police genuinely hurt my eyes.

You could avoid them by turning your head before it goes off tho.

That counter-intuitive

That's actually kind of cool. Real immersion.

Those flash bangs suck enough without having to actually go blind lol

A pro tournament like this would be so funny XD

I don’t entirely hate this. it achieves what video games have been trying to achieve: realism.

Maximum emersion

This is supercool, I love ideas that make gaming more immersive. But it also looks a bit damaging for your eyes.

Or the people that are the reason for the little "this show contains flashing lights blah blah sensitive, don't sue us" Please no seizures lol

He actually learned to hide from the light by ducking under the table.

This is DIY awesome.

i sort of love this. i would never do it, as i value my eyes and this would definitely harm them, but… even so, i sort of love this.

lmao put this in a gaming/cyber cafe where they play a lot of CSGO

WHY

This about as dumb as the time I went to a paintball/airsoft arena where people used real flash bangs in the games. Noped right out of there

The realism is strong, your monitor should blow up too when you get killed by a nade.

Would this damage your eyes?

[deleted]

The later part is most likely HDR monitors. Those thing can do way over 1000nits so it is extremely bright in a dark room

This is actually hilarious

Oh thats fucked. Thats the kind of shit that can do damage.

Is this the tune of that country being taken over while that chick dances? Myanmar I think?

Good way to ruin your eyes… lol

Immerse yourself into ultimate realism

Was gonna ask why you would disadvantage yourself, then I saw which sub I was on. Novel concept though, integrating the game with the tv.

I remember I played CS one day and was 1v3 and all nervous, then someone on the enemy team threw a flashbang and I closed my eyes irl for some reason and hence lost the round. It’s such a little thing but I remember it cuz it’s funny

How to guide on blinding yourself

That’s really fucking funny

I just drop a real flash in my room whenever I get flashed in CS. Really amps up the immersion factor

Is this the same guy who did a horse simulator for Red Dead?

Funny way to prank your mates tho

That would be pretty funny with a face cam on-stream

His poor retinas

You can fucking smell China in this video.

Why you like losing?

Now I need a DIWHY subreddit but specifically for computer mods haha

How to destroy your eyes

u/SaveVideo

So when do we get the VR version?

MFW i upgrade to indihome paket phoenix

10/10 immersion

This is me when transitioning between braindances on CP2077... My monitor, unsure of peak nits blinds the fuck out of me

Now mount a rifle on the wall to pop you in the leg when you get shot for maximum realism

u/savevideo

i want that

I loved the idea but WHAT KINDA OF FUCK IS THIS MUSIC?

Immersive

That’s real interesting

Reminds me of the Odablock clip. If you know you know

One step closer to peak immersion.

Holy shit, this is awesome. 😂

Seems like a Michael Reeves job

If anyones played spiritfarer, this is what it feels like when you mine ore

Next maybe a real smoke for the smoke granade.

Why do this to yourself... you need to do this to the enemy ha

why the fuck someone would want something like that?

You know those warning in the beginning of game saying about bright flashing lights and seizure?

A streamer started this, he programmed a button for his followers, donate a certain amount while playing and he gets flashbanged.

What do you mean, you don’t temporarily blind yourself for the realism?

[removed]

You can't just put a grenade word and a lighting word together and expect it to make sense.

This implies that all bright LEDs are "flsshbang LEDs", which would make every LED street light "flashbang" since the LEDs themselves are just bright LEDs.

That all said, the suddenly bright monitor is a decent prank, which means that it doesn't belong here since this was never meant to be anything other than a dumb prank.

This is valorant normal mode. Flash coming through walls, bouncing , birds, eyes, grenade, fingers, dogs.

What's the plan for simulating bullet shots?

how to be an idiot. the involved way

r/TIHI

For full immersion, detonate a bomb to make you go deaf too

Needs the deafening audio simulation too

This reminds me of that scene in Ready Player One where the bad guy puts on a gaming suit that lets him feel getting kicked in the nuts.

Make Get_right play on this lmao

I could see this being done unironically as a part of a "pay-for-pain" stream where if someone in chat donates a certain amount, the donation sound of generic CS grunt saying "flashbang" is the only warning the streamer gets before getting blinded.

u/savevideo

/u/savevideo

They should put this everytime a pop up comes up on a horror film

The thing in the game that messes me up isn’t working as well as I think it could?

More like DIWHY-NOT?!

this is awesome and should be mandatory

ImMeRsIoN

So are these kids blind now or what.

It would be hilarious if the last clip is the self-elrctrocution in bedroom meme lmao

That's the stupidest best thing I've ever seen.

bye bye eyes.

btw, I remember CS1.6 game nights with the boys. we used to start the first rounds throwing flashbangs to our character’s faces, ask something stupid before doing it like “what’s that on your feet?” and then laugh like idiots for minutes. god, how I miss those days.

Add real bullets! Add real bullets!

u/savevideo

How is this diwhy. This is a super prank hahaha

This is what I need for Tarkov to be more immersive.

1 tap simulator when?

discord lightmode be like

he's just smart, preparing for maximum endurance

what can i say, peoples want the most immersion possible, i swear soon they'll attach an airsoft gun to shoot them for every time they get hit

THINK FAST CHUCKLENUTS

Can‘t wait for the VR Version of this.

[removed]

Super dumb invention.

Why

now make a taser that shoots you in the neck and electrocutes you when you get hit by an enemy Zeus (bonus, it can work for DotA's Zeus too lol)

Quin69 has entered the chat.

I can't believe I had to scroll this far down to find a mention of Quin.

Hmmm...how can I get even worse at CS? Oh, I know!

suicide machine 3000

u/savevideo

You need the teabag simulator

u/savevideo

„How bored are you?“ „Yes“

How to get really blind, 101

Why? IMMERSION

Who the hell plays in dark and why are you so obsessed on destroying your eyes by installing this shit?

This is what it feels like in CSGO VR lol

The perfect gift for that epileptic you hate.

This is kind of cool. Just seems like self inflicted pain might not be the greatest idea. Lol

Lol Love the fact that the Person thinks 'oh Shit her joints are twisted and broken but EVEN worse her hairs are all over the place'

I didn't know I didn't want that.

Yeahhhh, GAME IMMERSION!

My new favorite mod

When you are so good you have to nerf yourself

I somehow like this idea… but the flash is much too long for a flashbang. But would just be fun if every player has this upgrade

The flash itself might, but I suspect the effect is simto losing eyesight in real life because eyes pin pointing when flash banged.

Which can’t be simulated here because monitor is still bright AF so eyes aren’t needing to adjust much

[edit] dude could throw it on a dimmer circuit! Yup that would be cool

So the signal should set screen brightness down and slowly fade it back too 100% ?

Or this! The boom of light and screen dimming. Incredibly immersive

Add this with the vibrating desk whenever you shoot and now you really are in the action

Get someone to stand behind your monitor and do a bloodcurdling scream whenever you shoot someone

can someone link the video of the other videos i can't find it anywhere

Thats kinda funny ngl

What about the extremely loud noise that leaves you deaf for upwards of an hour?

You just need some big ass speakers that activate when the LEDs do

Literally can't stop seeing stars

When you want to be immersed too much in the game

I fucking hate flashbangs so this pisses me off more than anything.

Brilliant for playing indoor urban settings.
