Started on the chans around the same age.... experiencing the last vestiges of the wild west of the internet during the formative years was certainly an interesting time. Honestly the biggest impact it's had on me is being extremely disgusted by how corporatized and "packaged" the internet as a whole is now.
Don't question the risks, just consoom internet and then get excited for next internets!

The argument is more refering to how it's wrong for any child to be getting tossed phones or tablets as a means for a parent lazily keep them occupied.
It's the same as kids being curled up on the couch watching Saturday morning TV shows for hours on end, this stuff didn't just start with phones and tablets.
I see where your coming from but chances are you aren't going to stumble across hardcore porn, beheadings and other gore videos watching Saturday morning cartoons.
Yeah it's just as unhealthy but at least you won't be traumatized like you could be with unfettered internet access at a young age.

Honestly heres the thing-- the web is full of wonder and it's a useful tool that can be great for a developing mind.
However, there's also trash on the internet and all around awful stuff that's not good for children.
I know we all want to say no the internet all together for children, or just throw our hands up and say fuck it just let em do whatever, but the answer is that the most advantageous route is to be the dork helicopter parent and either web-nanny or supervise access.
When I was a kid obviously I was I introduced to the brain rot-- I'm still an edgy contrarian asshole and I think a lot of that is just from what I grew up with on the internet. But I also took in a lot of things and formed healthy interests and hobbies that are a lot of who I am today.
The internet fostered those interests. I was a ghetto inner city hood rat, and those types of things weren't around me in my daily life, but when I came to the internet there were forums and websites that guided me and taught me what I needed to pursue those interests.
I wouldn't like the person that I'd be if not for the internet growing up. Obviously the early internet wasn't so consumer/product focused and there was more freedom and individuality beyond marginalized groups, but I still think a lot of that garbage can be avoided if access to the internet is monitored.
It sucks to be that parent, and I get that only the most cringe Christian fundies and brain dead hyper libs are hovering over their kids internet access, but in this instance it's Honestly for the best

I was big on 4chan from about 2006-2013 but still visit now. It didn't have too much of a lasting impact on me because i wasn't a no-mates incel. I had a life offline too

I feel sorry for zoomers. So much shit happens to them online that never happened to us. So many different type of groomers online with easy access to their lives. So not surprising some of them grow up messed up.

I was born in 2001, just in time to watch computers and smartphones really take off.
My parents were responsible enough to give me a curfew and obviously block some prawn sites here and there. I didn't get my first smartphone until I was 12 when I was just about to become a teenager and needed to go out by myself, hence needing to be contactable

When I was young, we did not have smart phones. So when we turned off the computer we were actually offline. Zoomers are basically online 24/7 with social media on their phones. When I was young we did not have other teens trying to constantly get us to send nudes, or convince us that we are not just gay but also trans. They are bombared with predatory DLC, like skins in Fortnite or other games. They are probably exposed to hardcore porn earlier than we were. Edating is also something that seems a lot more common now than when I was younger, and it can turn out very negative.
Those are some things I can think of, of the top of my head.
Only question I have is how Amanda Todd got a rope and halo: bleach, yall already knew she was likely gonna do it, why would u let her get her hands on those things
