I read open source, I upvote.
I read open source, I upvote.
I see camp counselor, I kill.
UserName checks out.
First I read "open source illustration course" and went oh cool! The I realised "open source pictures with vector files" and went oh equally cool. Lovey artwork. Svgs mean I might 3d print some. Will post here.
Ok I having read all the comments here so far. I'm a little sad how many people don't get open source. I know art isn't it's most common home. But I thought softwares use of it meant we were past that.
OP if it helps. I get it. I will use, modify, share and most importantly enjoy. The original artist is very good. And kind of them to OS the pics and SVG.
Thank you for sharing!
You are welcome
You have a very nice style and I love your work! Your colors, shadowing and simplification of things like the reflection in the computer screens or bubbles in the science images.. or just the thickness of your lines which makes it yours.
Thanks for sharing!
Edit: oh, I thought it was your work! Please, if you know the guy, send my regards! :)
Thank you for your contribution. Indeed, "vijay verma" the author of those illustrations has a great taste. More projects on his website https://vijayverma.co/
Thanks 🤍
Thank you very much for love and support guys 🤍🙏
I almost forget to see statistics and matrics of this site long time ago. Suddenly I open google Analytics and boom so many traffics 💥. And Reddit is the source.
Thank you for your great efforts, you are awesome.
Guys, u/realvjy is the creator of these illustrations. make sure to thank him for his efforts.
What have you all made with these? Can you please share?
Sorry, but I don't understand it well. Do you mean what software used to create those illustrations? I think the answer would be Adobe Illustrator.
This is not by me. The author is: vijay verma - https://vijayverma.co/ - contact him if you want to ask something regarding those illustrations. Thank you.
I mean like any additions to them. I want to use one of them to make signs that say "Masks Recommended" since we can't enforce them in our public location. I just wanted to see some ideas from others.
Okay, You need someone who could help, you can ask for inspiration at https://www.reddit.com/r/Design/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/graphic_design/ . You could use canva.com to upload the image and type on it. I don't know what is suitable for you, but I hope you find what you want.
Please let me know if there is something. Thanks.
Thank you!
Use Canva or something similar, they are for nonprofessional
i am confused. what is the kit? what is open source? Just the end results or the process itself? Are they giving me adobe illustrator for free?
You're right to be confused, because the term "open source" is being used sort of incorrectly here.
"Open source" refers to the source code of software. It means that you can see and modify the software's source code, and that you can redistribute it without much restriction.
What's going on here is that someone has made a collection of images available without restriction (along with some formats to make them easier to modify). As the front page puts it, the collection of images is "Free for Commercial and Personal Use. No need to credit, license, or anything."
Since the collection of images is not software, it would be more accurate to say that it's a "free license" or "open license."
Confusion is further added because the author used the MIT License, which is designed to be used for software, and contradicted it. The MIT License says "The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software," whereas this website with images says there's no need to give "credit, license, or anything," which seems to imply that Vijay doesn't actually want you to have to post the entire MIT license anywhere you use the images.
It would've made more sense for Vijay to use something like a Creative Commons license, which is designed to be used for media rather than software.
So, a reasonable place to be confused.
thanks for the explanation. I appreciate OP for posting free internet things, even if not worded perfect. And I appreciate you for the better explanation.
Thanks for clarifying. I’ll update license accordingly. It is CC0 off course.
These are ready illustrations made by vijay verma .. you can use it for personal or commercial use.
The kit: Those illustrations you see at the website. It's available in many formats (ai, svg, png, eps, figma file) to use it in the software you want. A kit means a collection of something.
Open Source: Open source is source code that is made freely available for possible modification and redistribution. Products include permission to use the source code, design documents, or content of the product (From Wikipedia) So in our case here, the designer/author made all the files available for public without any restrictions.
Just the end results or the process itself? This is the end result of design, the author made these illustrations so you can use or edit them instead of you create it from scratch.
Are they giving me adobe illustrator for free? No they won't .. However, you can follow https://prodesigntools.com/ and sign up for their newsletter to stay informed .... they announce some discounts and make giveaway for adobe suite subscription to win free year of adobe suite (I don't know how many times they make the giveaway, but maybe one or two per year .. I'm not sure .. this is the last giveaway and I think it ended, note sure https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-creative-cloud-2021-giveaway.html)
Also, if you are a student and has a student active mail from your university, you can buy a discounted adobe suite subscription or other software like CorelDRAW, Microsoft Office and more from "onthehub" https://onthehub.com/products/
Thank you and let me know if there is something.
If you're in contact with Vijay, you may want to let him know that since this is a set of media rather than software, it would make more sense to use some kind of Creative Commons license rather than the MIT License. The MIT License (and "open source" in general) is designed for software, which is part of why it's confusing people like the commenter you replied to. It also includes a notice that the entire license has to be copied and displayed anywhere that uses the images/"software," which might not be what Vijay intended.
If he really wants to make the media as close to public domain as possible, with zero restrictions, he could try the CC0 license. If he wants to retain some restrictions, there are some other Creative Commons options as well.
hmmm, it makes sense, but I'm not in contact with him. I don't know why he chose that license. I saw designers use CC0 license as you said for graphics materials.
it's just illustrations, was confusing for me too
It's a cool website chock full of free graphics.
License is very simple: https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT
God bless open source devs

Thank you for your contribution. I don't want a clipart, I just shared this resource because there are people could benefit from it.
And what did you make and share with the world for free?
My comment. I am describing what this post actually is. Even though it was a legit question I think I found the answer.
Oh! Good one, there are some stuff in English I don't catch/get it from the first time. Good Luck.
What a fucking chode
Thanks!
These would be perfect custom icons for my phone!
The author will release 3D icons soon at this domain 3dicons.co .Thank you for your contribution.
It's great to see that the website is back. I used to use this a lot a year ago, and then I couldn't access the website. Glad to see it's back there.
Day 63 looks like it has worms coming out of its eyes
great. another "creative" site bringing the whole industry down.
Did you even click the link? This is just someones personal work of merely 120 small illustrations that he wants to share. This isn’t „bringing down“ anything and your comment is actually unnecessarily rude towards OP.
Are you kidding? These 120 small illustrations just destroyed the Clipart industry and they will never financially recover from this
If an industry can be toppled by something easier, cheaper, faster and better for the consumer, it deserves to be toppled.
If 120 illustrations breaks the industry you're in, it really deserves to be self destructed.
Why is this a bad thing?
If you make a living as an illustrator/designer, people doing work for free brings down the value and demand of your services. Cheap labor disrupting existing industries.
Well, on one hand you have what you just said, and on the other hand there will be software programming hobbyists, hobby web designers, open source projects etc. which have barely any or none budget for design, so these free assets are literally invaluable for them.
Makes sense. Thanks for the response.
Idk any details of this particular situation, but I can see how this can be damaging. A free service that has little to no chance of staying afloat long term without revenue may not seem like a threat to established paid services but in the short term they would likely have to lower prices or offer deals at a loss just to avoid losing customers. Unless the company offering the free product finds a way to become profitable, they will either have to move to a paid model or go out of business. If they stay free and afloat long enough, the company with the established paid model starts to hurt for real as they are no longer able to offer a product at a competitive price point without losing money. If this goes on long enough, the established company goes out of business as they can’t pay to support their product and the free company, which never made any money to begin with, will likely eventually die off as well once the creator gets sick of supporting such a money pit. Now there are no products, free or paid.

A bunch of free illustrations aren't going to change anything, there's no shortage of free packs just like this on the internet, nor are they anything new. There will always be demand for custom illustrations.
Yeah I dont know if tomatoes are all that acidic though
FREE STUFF! Amazing thanks!
Sucks to be me that I will put this in my saved collections and forget about it
Are you me?
I am thou, Thou art I.
Art, I see what you did there
PERSONA
The good thing is that you can always pull out the collection list in times of need.
Hahah yeah that is always nice!
Wow you read my mind lol
