I think that page is older than some redditors in here.

I remember using it in the mid 2000s to make a poster for my dorm room. Half the fun of that poster was just telling people the url and giggling like idiots at the name.

I did the same thing, and I was in college in 2005. Lol

Its original home was part of homokaasu.org which has been abandoned for years now, but parts of the site still exist in the Internet archive

I would have made the poster in early 2006, so I'm not terribly surprised my memory is a little off. We were probably laughing about the name of the tool.

So I figured out the semester I would have printed my poster, selected a snapshot from January 2006 and damn it was like going back in time. Thank you!

Thanks, now that you mentioned that was it. The good old times. :)

I'm just rasterbating in my dorm. :D

Same dude, I think it was 2003 and I made a HUGE copy of the cover of Patti Smith's Horses album

Yeah, I used it in college in 2005 and the site seemed old then.

I remember using that when i had dot matrix printer. It must have been ages ago.

I can believe it. It does have an older feel to it. But I just found out about it right before posting

Came to say this site is ooooold my friends and I used this when it came out

Yeah, I had a Rasterbator mural of the inner gatefold pic from the Beatles 67-70 compilation album on the wall in my basement. I've moved twice, married, and had two kids since then, so that's got to have been nearly twenty years ago.

Yeah i used this to make posters for my first college dorm in 2008, but I first heard about it in like 2005

I have one of the prints shown, had it for years

Wow, this is still going! I used it years ago to decorate a room and it looked great!

I swear I used this in like 2004

Haha, could be that long ago for me too. It feels like something that I would have seen on bOINGbOING or Slashdot.

I also did this in 2005 and I found it on the best thing on the internet before Reddit, Stumbleupon. Remember that?

Good times

I can confirm 2004 as well.

Same! We used to rasterbate images and place them all over campus, or prank people with a funny photo in the dining hall. So much fun!

I definitely used this site around 2005 -- happy to see it's still around.

I decorated my dorm room in the fall of 2004 using this site.

I used it in 2005, so you most likely did

We use to rasterbate a lot in college (2006).

All over your walls though?

Like a supersoaker.

I still rasterbate a lot with my college friends (2021).

On our last day of college (UK) we used all our printer credits up rasterbating images and decorating the corridors.

There were dozens of them all over the place.

Lol I did exactly the same thing

God wow, yeah a blast from the past. Used that at uni to make some cool posters for my room. Early to mid 2000s I guess.

Same here, did a car poster for behind my racing sim, works great! Previously I had to do it manually, and this site helps out A LOT.

That's an interesting man cave you got there.

I believe the term is “nerd dungeon.”

Yup. I remember using a ton of my college printing quota on near room sized Rasturbations back in 2006.

My hipster ass definitely used this in the 00s

Wont the paper get yellow over time ?

what does fix a flat do?

Puts bumps on any surface

Makes your mechanic grumpy

I'd rather have my acid on tiny stamps :)

I remember making these in the early 2000s but my mom wouldn’t let me print them because it would use up all of her expensive ink.

Will she let you, now?

She died in 2012 but I buy my own ink now (toner really) anyway.

you showed her

/r/cursedcomments

I don’t know if it was just our printer but back then (a bit later) it seemed like these ink cartridges could print 5 pages then die

My mom also told me to stop rasterbating...

Long live rasterbator

Here here!!!!

Everyone of a certain age having flashbacks from this post.

Cheers, OP!

This is really cool! Thanks OP

I want a website that will take make an image from thousands of other pictures to be the photo I want. They do that with movie posters sometimes.

http://drablab.org/keithohara/cmsc-317-2019s/assignments/truman.jpg

Like this? https://mosaically.com/

Well damn. Thank you!

Thanks so much, I've wanted this for years!

I could use this site to create a photo made up from a zillion photos, then use raterbator to make it huge and (maybe) the component photos would be visible.

thanks for this. I think I'm going to do this with my wedding album

I just rasterbated while I masticated.

The legends are true, he has cum!

Gotta print very big memes in my room

I swear I saw this on slashdot in 2003 lol

Lets* you

Let's = let us

I knew there was a site like this! Thanks for digging it up, OP!

I used this site to blow up a Cthulhu image for my brother's video store (yeah, that long ago) display. The Lovecraft film festival was going on (Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro, CA), and he wanted to highlight the store's collection of Lovecraft-inspired films. It worked a treat, but we went through a SERIOUS amount of ink!!

We used this in college in like 2009 to plaster some huge meme images across someone's dorm room LOL

I made so many posters with this back in the day. I think I even gave some as gifts. It inspired me to get a straight edge paper cutter.

Still, highly recommend and glad for the reminder. I might make some posters with the kids this weekend!

That's very endearing and sounds awe-some! Have fun!

I’m so glad this site is still up

Pleases me to no end that this site is still around

MacPaint did this with a dot matrix printer in 1984.

[deleted]

Bro we didn’t have the (public) internet in 1984. In just looking it up though it looks like it may have started with The Print Shop on PCs. But we did it on 128k Macs with the original MacPaint on a 3.5” floppy.

[deleted]

Ah. (I didn’t get it.)

let's

Let us

Lettuce

Agreed. It's just "lets", same as they taught us in the 3rd grade.

*lets

Yeah, whoops, that one

I used this to print DnD maps for our group to play on rather than hand drawing things

What a blast from the past! I burned through hundreds of dollars worth of ink back in the early 2000's thanks to this amazing site!

Is this site still up? I think I remember they used this website for the world largest Leeroy Jenkins poster in a US university decades back. Or at least a long while ago

Go away I'm batin!

FLipping sweet! I never saw that before.

It's like "Printshop" by for 2021

Holy shit. I can't believe this thing still exists! 15-18 year old me was using this to make posters for my room back in the early 2000s. What a throwback.

It really is kind of crazy... I just found it last night. But I'm glad to have sparked a bunch of nostalgia for a log of people here

I used to use this constantly for art projects in the 00s! Great for making big ass stencils!

I too enjoy ass art.

For senior prank, one of our elements was rasterbating the high school yearbook photo of our dean of students. We then hung it from the side of the building. A very 2005 thing to do.

Me and my buddy printed a giant version of the Rubber Soul album cover and put it on the wall of one of the bedrooms in our old apartment. We forgot to take it down when we moved out and were charged something like $100 on our move out.

Lets. Not "let's."

Rasterbator. I love it

I used this back in 2006-2008 and I still have the “poster” up on my wall

Thank you. I have been looking for this for years (not very hard, though). I used it to make some posters. Thanks again.

This is how I turn Pathfinder maps into full scale printouts and drain my ink reserves.

This like an enhance feature on CSI. Obviously it doesn't clean up the image but it's impressive. I have a couple pics I'd like to just have larger versions of. This might work good!

If your images are low resolution, they won't look great when printed out in a large format. Gigapixel AI is seriously like "CSI enhance". It works really well and there is a free full featured trial if you only need to enlarge a few images.

Awesome! Thank you, I'll take a look at that then

Yeah here are some demo pics I did with Gigapixel. My favorite is the black and white photo with the car and Library in background

Wow! Those look great. I'm definitely going to get it when I get home. Those are very cool

Does this work different than the poster printing option?

Oh man, I used this site all the time in college to decorate my dorm room (2005-2008). So many early memes and Banksy graffiti. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks. I think I'll do something to decorate my classroom with this

LMAOO rasterbator

So like....

enlarging?

This website has been around forever! I had a huge poster of my car, sitting above the same car, in my garage in 2007. Memories!

is there a pic? I like this.

If there is, I wouldn't know where to find it. It was a turbo 92 Supra.

I used this to make a huge Calvin and Hobbes mural in my college dorm. Good times

[deleted]

and you're not the only one! I remember that "app" too!

Did someone say I could print sewing patterns?!?

It was me. I said it. Self-five.

I remember explaining this page to a girl I liked in middle school and it's name was so close to masturbator I got quite a weird stare.

Was it that or your detailed description of vector graphic conversion algorithms that started the stare?

Apostrophe's and they're use's.

Lol I know. Your the 10th person to say something. Its a mistake and wont happen again

It’s. Guess it will happen again.

You guys got my man out here afraid to use punctuation

https://i.imgur.com/8aGjGlz.jpg

Didn't even realize that's still around. Printed out a large Gaius Balter "Not my President" poster with it back in the day, before smartphones.

That's the weirdest thing... I literally just found this website a day ago... And this is the 3rd time something like this has happened to me in the last month. The internet is weird...

Cool

A site that let is me load? Let is check it out!

there were programs that did this back in 1980s.

You must be fun at parties

i think it’s Orson Scott Card
