No school!!!ššš
Fr though like 2 - 4 months of no school was awesome
Tbh I kinda miss the Covid era from March 2020 to like June 2021, shit was geekin, but then Omicron came around and it was kinda like 2020 but not much no-schooling
My grades went to shit during Covid, they literally just gave everyone a pass or fail grade because everyone was doing so bad
I was such a degenerate in 2020 that I learned that covid existed from one of those stupid ass YouTube meme compilation with the text to speech voice
i'd say 2021 was better than 2020 for me but then 2022 took a massive dip in quality
2021 was the filler episode in the shithole arc
Itās too early to call, but so far January 2023 hasnāt been an unmigitated disaster unlike January 2020, 2021, and 2022.
In fact, thereās a lot of really cool stuff going on like Chat GPT and AI Art that really wasnāt on the horizon for most people, and are now extremely popular. Maybe 2023 will be decent?
Knock, Knock, it's America, bringing you more mass shootings in a time frame smaller than we ever though possible.
Knock, Knock, it's Russia, still posting chunks of Ukraine and holding on with a death grip.
Knock. Knock. Global Warming marches on.
Also, imminent recession.
But maybe we'll get lucky.
tbf that's all just problems carried over from previous years, so far at least not a lot of new bad things happend
Global warming does indeed march on, but because of horrendous gas prices and rapid development of electric cars, 2022 was the best year for electric cars by far. Plus the Tonga eruption blasted a ton of water into the Stratosphere to act like an aerosol, which is already having very positive effects on Antarctica. So some progress is being made.
As for America, itās unfortunate but not end of the world. 10 people died on the Lunar New Year shooting, which is an extremely low amount of people. More people died of heart attacks in the US in that same time frame. Not saying that we should be ignoring the problem of course.
As for Russia, the war has thankfully gone largely stagnant, and this is a huge opportunity for Europe to get off of Russian gas. With oil and gas now being associated with helping the Westās enemies, this makes switching to renewables now a national security issue, which means we will see action on it.
As for the recession, I think the worst of it is likely over. The worst thing we will likely see is deflation (which is also really bad) being caused by aggressive overcorrective rate hiking by the fed as a response to transitory inflation.
holy fucking shit hopeposting real????
yay happiness!
That, and the hole in the ozone layer is expected to be repaired by 2070.
I'd say we're on the right path.
DEATH GRIP???????????????
Bro AI art is a negative at BEST
Redditors go 5 seconds without arguing in any thread where ai art is mentioned challenge [IMPOSSIBLE] [100% FAIL]
Everybody says that about transformative technologies; but in a few years we wonāt be able to imagine life without it.
Lmao like if its ever gonna be used for anything other than theft
People said that about posting pictures and music online. Instead; it caused a massive paradigm shift that revolutionized the fields of Art and Music for the better.
HOW IS AI ART GOING TO CHANGE THINGS FOR THE BETTER?!
Well for starters, high-quality art is very difficult to create. If a person wants custom HQ art they used to either have to draw it themselves, which is slow, or get an artist to do it for them, which costs money. AI art cuts out the middle-man, making high quality art quick and free.
It can also be used to create reference works for artists to work on manually, and help them visualize spacial dimensions easier. Or just give them inspiration.
Lastly, it could be used to make cartoon creation so much easier, lowering the barrier of entry for aspiring cartoonists. That could lead to an explosion of creativity.
AI generated cartoons would look dogshit, full of mistakes and bad proportions
The reference stuff makes sense, yea
But the HQ art??? Really??? You think people wont be able to tell the difference between genuine art and a piece of corporate cardboard more akin to abstract art?
An AI generated cartoon made today would have a lot of obvious errors unless the cartoonist went back and manually fixed them; which in of itself requires skill. But we are in very early days of AI art. As time progresses, it will begin to look way better. In a few decades, it might be a better artist than any human alive.
With corporate art, we have that done by humans and it still looks like dogshit. If anything, itās an improvement over the same old spaghetti artstyle that dominated the 2010ās.
If AI somehow surpasses human ability, which it CANNOT POSSIBLY DO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, thousands of artists would lose their only source of income, just so that corporations can cut corners
AIās canāt surpass human ability
Well letās not go that far. Remember that even current models of AI are better at certain tasks than humans are. No human can do math as fast as a calculator. And certain programs like chess programs and AlphaGO are better at Chess and Go than any living human.
That is true that artists will largely be put out of work, and itās probably more in the millions. And that does suck, but itās how progress works. Remember, ācomputerā used to be a job. People used to sit around doing mathematic calculations for business keeping until the computer was invented and entirely eliminated this job. Nowadays, the global system is so complex that bringing back ācomputersā as a profession would be functionally impossible. Same thing with phone operators (people who used to manually connect your phone to other people). So many people are calling other people on phones today that it wouldnāt be feasible to bring this back.
Thatās basically whatās happening to artmill artists right now. The ability for AI to create high quality custom art for cheap and free will make the demand for this skyrocket, which would eliminate the capacity for artists to even keep up with without AI. And thatās whatās happening now. As soon as AI art became popular, the fate of the profession was basically sealed.
Art has existed for far longer than computing and phone operators, and now people are happy that its most accessible form is being made redundant by greedy pieces of shit supported by men who never touched a pencil
Well people are more happy that they now have the capacity to create high quality art for free. Giving the means of production to the people directly is the opposite of greedy.
Its a terrible idea to hand over the means of production for smaller things when THE ECONOMICAL SYSTEM IS STILL ENTIRELY CAPITALIST, its practically sacrificing people so that some guy can get their favourite type of porn for free
How is it terrible? Traditionally corporations are able to hold a strong monopoly because they have the means of artistic creation, and everyone else doesnāt. But AI art gives people the ability to make high quality art thatās on par with corporations for free, which eliminates a massive competitive edge that corporations had over the market.
For example; it used to be the case that only very well established animation companies like Disney and Hannah-Barbera could create cartoons. But with computer technology and YouTube, independent animators were able to feasibly compete with cartoon producing corporations. This would have been completely impossible in the 80ās and 90ās.
The difference is that computers have given more jobs, AI art has the potential to do the opposite
Computers immediately killed more jobs than it produced because it was a wide-use technology with limited market impact. It took a while for computers to create more jobs than it killed. The same will likely apply here. We will see new genres of artistic work that previously didnāt exist like AI artist, and it could possibly create more jobs than all the Twitter artists AI art will unemploy.
What kind of jobs would AI art bring? Fucking prompt writers?
Well, possibly. Actually getting AI art to do what you want it to do is difficult, and making decent custom AI art could be a feasible profession.
Another one in the short term could be AI art corrector. Someone who is a trained artist who corrects the flaws in AI artwork like extra fingers.
I think you are forgetting opportunity cost here. If creative studios only have to put a fraction of the resources into art/ visual effects it opens up loads of new opportunities. Itās like saying the invention of the steam engine destroyed jobs since you needed far fewer people to transport goods. That simply overall was not true.
And a lot of manual laborers lost jobs when the steam engine was invented.
And a lot of cab drivers lost jobs to Uber
Maybe if ai art improves artists will lose jobs.
Its just progress, it is what it is.
well yeah he's talking about the next few years, not this very second. AI is improving pretty fast, just look at 2022
Also yes? A lot of AI art can be hard to distinguish from art made by people, like that one piece that won a competition
Honestly I could see it more getting integrated into art programs with tools that fix bad propotions or automatically apply shading affects or convert a sketch to lineart and stuff like that, rather than completely replacing artists, kinda like github copilot does now with programming, but we'll see I guess.
If you want something very spesific making a human do it would probably still be the best option for a while, but more general things would probably be a complete replacement yeah
This January has been an absolute disaster for me ngl
ai art
Hooray!!! New man-made capitalistic nightmares!!!
How is creating the means for mass-art creation a capitalist nightmare?
"mass-art creation" is like the definition of a capitalist nightmare, pumping out nonexistent creativity at industrial amounts
fine just for fun, not professionally, as long as the sources used to feed it aren't taken without consent from the actual artist, and as long as AI art isn't put in with real art
mfw my hobby is being turned into yet another asset to be mass-produced by machinery without any actual humanity inolved in the creative process, thus defeating the purpose of art in the first place
We already pump out nonexistent creativity at an industrial level, what do you think corporate art is?
The hobby of art can still exist and nobody is stopping that. Like how knitting is still a popular hobby despite the fact nobody has to knit for clothes anymore.
Haha way to gatekeep art. I can't draw for shit so AI art has been a godsend for my creative expression.
Do what you wanna do, just don't sell it for profit
Ken block died like 3 days into the new year so its a shitty start to Mines ngl
2021 was the year I finally got a girlfriend, 2022 was the year she tore out my heart and stomped on it
Skill issue
The issue of her inability to not sleep with men in front of her students
damn
Funnily, that was the opposite for me (except it was 2019 when we started dating)
For me 2021 was the worst year of my life, and 2022 was the best
2021 was great until after June, the first 6 months were fucking great
Everyone collectively agreeing to increasingly lose touch with reality every year after 2015.
why would we want to keep being in touch with reality if Harambe is no longer part of that reality?
Harambe was the key to world stability.
I like how it's agreed Harambe dying led to the dark timeline we are in right now
the key to everything.
I noticed this aswell and we should probably eliminate as much screen time and social media as possible.

Good ole '60s
Kinda scary how similar this decade is to the 60's . Lotta political polarization, crazy shit happening all the time. They call the 60s the "Angry Decade" for a reason. I guess I'll inject some hopium now because the 60's turned out pretty decent in the end.
'70s wouldn't hurt either
It is insane how much more peaceful the world seemed only a few years ago.
Eh, there was major inflation and the Watergate scandal, as well as a recession in the 70ās
If you look at most western nations post WW1, you can easily draw political climate parallels to the modern USA with pretty much any time period & place. Something that is more unique is the increase in political participation and engagement. Where political topics come up more in everyday conversation and everyday people become more closely associated & locked into a political identity. A similar, tho not on the same level, case of this is the massive level of political participation and polarization during the Weimar Republic post WW1.
Reminds me of JFK, everyone is focusing and whining about Joe Biden similar to JFK at the time, literally the Kennedy Mystique all over again.
Iām sorry, but you cannot just compare JFK to Joe Biden. Thatās like saying Trump reminds you of Charlemagne because they both ran countries
Listen I only said it's like the Kennedy Mystique all over again

This is true.
2013 was a great year, Minecraft and Roblox on the rise. PS3 and Xbox 360 were on their final and best years, most of us were around 7-14, this was the beginning of the golden era, the worst things were probably not being able to stay beyond 9 PM, homeworks, and school exams.
2014 came by, me and my family celebrated new years for the first time and it was such a great time, we played Monopoly, 'twas such a rare event in my family's life, 2014 was an equally great year, you had the Harlem shake meme which throw Filthy Frank into fame, FNAF, Roblox becoming more mainstream, and the release of the Xbox One and PS4, this was the peak of games such as TF2, the end of the year was even better, which made 2015 a great year.
2015 came by, this was where most of us were 11-15 going through puberty, it was our first truly hard year as pre-teens entering teenagehood, around this time I felt... some sort of an odd aura, it's my mind slowly maturing, it was a great yet scary feeling, this was when some of us went through at least a form of bullying, we had FNAF going full force, the beginning of Undertale, and generally just maturity, some of us were edgy, others were "cringe", but at the end it was just a little phase, the ending yet again was such a great moment, personally because my dad was discharged from the hospital.
2016... oh boy, call me biased, but 2016 was the best year we had, FNAF was slowly fading but was still fighting, Undertale was going full force, we had the craziest time for the internet, the teenage angst was slowly wearing off here and there, but was still existing, we had the offensive and crazy dank memes, the cringe stuff, we had Leafy, we had H3H3, we had Filthy Frank, iDubbbz, MaxMoeFoe, everyone was going out hard, it was a fucking awesome sight to behold, I was 14, and was in 8th grade, it was a perfect time, but here's the bias, Obama was on his final year and it was the last time the US was truly sane, the ending was unfortunately kind of mid for a great year, this was the peak time for the golden era.
2017 came up and uhh... it was there I guess, it was the opposite of 2015, we had the time TF2 was put on life support with the final real update made, we had Trump becoming president, and the general hardship, at this moment I was 15 and was going through the worst parts of teenagehood, as with other people, it still had some of the stuff from late 2016 but I guess that's that. I went through a lot of hell in school, with being bullied and having untreated mental issues such as ASD and ADHD the end of the year was a bit good, this was the start of the "dark era".
2018 was really bad, the beginning was rather slow and dragged out, we had Fortnite going all out, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing about Fortnite, 2018 was pretty.. blegh, until the ending parts, everything after May was alright.
2019 was the underdog of the 2010's it was the last "normal" year before Covid, the crazy far-right and far-left agendas came out, the anti-vaxxers, the flat earth and weirdos were a minority, this was a mid year for memes, but was an eventful year, I was 17, the internet was a bit ok, but the best part was the outside, you had some fun events, personally I communicated and talked with people a lot during that time so it was special, then came the Covid jokes about China... oh boy
2020 was all around mid but had good stuff sprinkled on it, the time BLM ruined some stuff and the death of George Floyd and Rick May, the WWIII jokes, the end of the world memes, early Covid era was good, especially the Zoom classes, and I remember when our class was fucking raided that was funny. Some bad stuff like that time I met my first girlfriend and she dumped me. At this point I turned 18 and joined college which I was rushed into. The last 2 months of 2020 were so great they snuck into 2021 to make the first half a great year.
2021 was surprisingly the best year in the 2020's for me currently, I met my second partner which manipulated me, but despite that I got over it surprisingly fast, I met my third partner whom was not mentally stable and I wish her all the best, 2021 had a renaissance of sorts when it came to games and memes, FNAF made its way back John Cena style, with all the "cringe" gone and the fans grown, at this time I started playing a bunch of old popular games, such as PvZ, Undertale, FNAF, and other games that were considering cringy, I said fuck it and had a good time playing them, but then July came up and it was pretty bad, the best part was when I got a lasik surgery, I dropped out of college on a whim and got a shitty dead end job which shat all over what 2021 built up and the first half of 2022, I held on there so much it ruined my mind and worsened my ADHD.
2022 was... well eh it was mid, you had the rise of some cringe content creators such as iShowSpeed, Jellybean, and Andrew Tate, you had the right wing bullshit going full force, the sigma alpha bullshit, and all that, 2022 had some saving graces such as Andrew Tate's arrest, Overwatch 2, and for the first time in forever, a decent GTA Online update, and the World Cup was decent, not a socce- "Football" person, but damn that was fun, laughed my ass off when Saudi Arabia was torn apart, I remember my 20th birthday was such a great time
2023 so far is on its way to be what 2021 should've been, I'm finally getting my ADHD treated, my Youtube channel is slowly on the rise, I'm slowly shedding off weight and gaining muscle, I'm struggling living with my family without education, and working Uber Eats to make do, but I'm soon going back into college and I'm making the world my own one step at a time with God at my side, I hope 2023 becomes a great year for all of you and myself too! Sorry if the text deteriorated the more I wrote, I tend to do that sometimes when I go on something for too long, good luck everyone!
I read all that and enjoyed it
Thanks man
Then get better in this worsening world
I just can't man
I tried, didn't work

Sorry femboys, this fight is pretty much over

I would shit on you for having a TF2 pfp, but c'mon, Soldier was voiced by Rick May, he died, honor him, you may be at rock bottom, but climb up and out, c'mon you can do it dude! My life is a bit shitty rn, but I know I'm hitting a corner soon, it's hard, but I'm surviving, I'm somewhere between happy and a total fucking wreck, but you gotta fight, you gotta bring it to the enemy, you gotta stand up and risk it sometimes man, life has its downs and ups, but don't let the downs drag you out into harm's way, I believe in you, I have faith in myself, and so should you to yourself, don't ever give up no matter how bad it looks.
idk maybe you're just getting sadder

More like 2016
I think so too, but since 2012 the curve of improvement kinda flattened and in mid 2016 it began to go downhill

ā2023 will be a good year!ā mf the Grox are coming 5/23/23
2016 was when it began for me
It's always been this way you just miss not being aware of it
It's not getting worse we are just getting exposed to more of its worse aspects because of the ever increasing prevelence of online media showing us everything around the World.
I think someone broke the "marginally" part the last few years
In the so called USA, police have directly killed about 3 people on average per day since 2014, around 1,000/ year. 2022 was the highest of all time. Also here's this-
"The Department of Justice estimates that American police officers shoot 10,000 pet dogs in the line of duty each year. It is impossible to ascertain a reliable number, however, because most law enforcement agencies do not maintain accurate records of animal killings. The tally may be substantially higher, and some suggest it could reach six figures."
https://scholars.unh.edu/unh_lr/vol17/iss1/18/
That's just over 27 dogs per day. And that's just dogs.
I'm waiting for the collapse to be honest
Nostalgia
Great Recession was part of your peak, huh?
