why does this image bring me so much comfort?

Hiroshi Nagai works in mysterious ways.

In all seriousness though, he is a very talented artist and I’m proud to be a member of his fan club! r/hiroshinagai

For some reason this gave me a flashback to playing Where in the World is Carmen San Diego on the Master System.

I'm getting Sim Tower vibes

Dream Getaway, anyone? Any Electronic Gems enjoyers here?

Hell yeah Electronic Gems is the shit

Home resonance

Of course, this comment was inevitable.

Upvote for Maximum Love

Yes! Love that song

Flight Simulator 98 at night was awesome

I was reminded of FS98 too. Such a classic game.

FS98-2002 has big vaporwave vibes.

Just search for the artists works on Google. He is immensely popular. Posting his work here is almost cheating since it's so iconic in the vaporwave scene

I remember this one from Dreamwave, too bad they don’t source their backgrounds. Love this one!

You might've seen this on Electronic Gems' channel: music video of Maximum Love - Dream Getaway

What does it mean to source a background?

They don't put where they got their backgrounds (I'm assuming they use them for YouTube mixes or something)

This feels like an album cover for a Japanese City Pop song

He's one of the most influential Japanese graphic designers, and a big reason for that city-pop look. Check out Eiichi Ohtaki - A Long Vacation

on top of what /u/dadaddaave said, he is pretty famous for making album covers as well

Aboard that sleek trijet sitting in the business class in a comfortable leisure suit, lighting up a Kent with micronite filters as the least rays of sun shine through the windows.

I have some of his artwork on a fight stick that I customized. He also goes by Hiroshi Penguin Joe.

Reminds me of the cover of Onra's "Nobody Has To Know.". Which, I'm sure is familiar to many of us here, but if you haven't heard it, it's a great album!

Fckn love it.

It gives me nostalgia but I don't know what for.

8bit games?

Incredible

Is it possible to get a print of this?

To my knowledge, he doesn’t sell prints of his art but he has a collection of his work in his book called Niteflyte although it’s pricey

Not true as I have four signed prints by him. You need to follow his gallery in Instagram:

https://instagram.com/fmcd_gallery_studio?utm_medium=copy_link

They will post every so often that they have prints for sale. You dm them on Instagram and can order from them. It may take them a month or so to respond but they do. It was 140 total for four prints signed.

He does occasionally sell prints over on Instagram (through his gallery fmcd gallery studio). IIRC it’s usually a pack of three prints for 200-250€ + shipping. Last time I checked the person who’s actually processing the orders was still recovering from COVID so the shipping was even slower than usual.

Those are for posters. Prints on actual canvas will cost a whole lot more and they don't release them very often. Been trying to get response from them on prints for months. He does sign the posters though

Oh good to know!

Looks like something straight out of Tron

Something about airplanes at dusk. Absolutely awesome.

Douglas DC-10 is a nice plane, similar distinct as the 747

This here’s a depiction of a Boeing 727.

tokyo 1980's victor edition anyone ?

This makes me feel really lonely. I don't know why. looking at it I feel a sad longing for something gone.

Has been my phone background for years now. Can’t enough of this picture and his other art. Always told myself that when I get my own place I’m gonna hang up so much of his work.

Nostalgic

When I arrived an other country what doesn't latin america I post this picture in my history and its caption will be ''I finally get out of that mf country''

Back when 727s were still in active service

Strong F-Zero vibes
