Bob Marley and Billy Idol

I wish this concert was real.

Judi Dozier, Billy's keyboard player, shows up in the YouTube comments to praise this mashup

Damn. That even has a spliced Tipton and Downing solo in the middle of it. 3 mashups. That’s next level shit there

McClintock is awesome!

My favorite:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57SNPbxi0r0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz7RGARtAgc

That might be the best one of them all. Absolutely perfect combination

This one is mine

https://youtu.be/pm08v69vG10

Yep, found this gem that is cranked up all the time:

James Brotorhead

Use My Mouth For War is also amazing. The use of the Stranglehold solo makes the original Bill Withers song sound empty

Came to this thread looking for this. This is McClintock's best by far.

I am addicted to Shaxicula, which is a 3-in-1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8Upzye9Ctw

I'd rather have some more classic zombie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZHbo_Pnr-M

Frankie Zombie.

https://youtu.be/4zMFFj_G5Wg

How about a 31-in-1?

Pop Culture:

https://youtu.be/lTx3G6h2xyA

39-in-1

Ah did I fuck up counting that badly lol?

Its onscreen at the beginning of the video.

Fuck that's even worse. I counted them in the description lol.

Fantastic suggestion. Have you seen the Disney edit video?

https://youtu.be/E-6xk4W6N20

Pogo's Alice has to be considered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAwR6w2TgxY

Great music, terrible person: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pogo_(musician)#Controversies

Ahhhh I knew I'd heard that mix before. I never realized it was originally done live! And I still love the Disney edit, it's so good.

I just watched this like five times in a row. Thanks!

That was fantastic!

Holy shit, that was cool.

wow.... sick transitions!

I listened to this one like a week straight when it dropped. So good.

Pop Culture is a bit away from the theme of the previous posts, mashup =\= sampling. The song is absolutely wild though, and I see that someone else already posted the Disney edit that's basically the official music video by now.

Exactly. You could argue that The Avalanches' debut album was a mashup of hundreds of songs by the same logic as Pop Culture, but it's called sample-based music. You could only mash together so many songs before it becomes a garbled mess. Each added mashed song is a step closer to white noise.

First time I've noticed Shooting Stars is in the mashup!

That's one banger right there!

It is truly is a mother jumpin tune

this fucking kills. I just need a bit of guitar accompaniment

This is incredible

Raining Lobsters

(high point is 1:45 - 2:15)

"Raining Blood from a Lobster in the Sky!"

Everybody’s having fun!!

Aaaaaaaggggghhhhhhh!!!

Kinda cheating to throw in the scream from Angel of Death... but this is so awesome.

Wow - it really does sound like “Lobster in the sky”! Hahahaha. It’s even better now. Unbelievable. Thanks!

That was cool.

The thing i liked about Raining Lobsters is they went back and forth with the music and lyrics from both groups, and synced up the video: it’s amazing. I’ve seen 50-odd of these mash-ups, and that is the one thats tops for me.

How have I never heard this. Epic. Used to listen to Slayer tapes on the bus all in middle school.

This was perhaps the greatest accidental punk song ever created, wow.

My first thought was, "this reminds me of the dead Kennedys."

Sounds a lot like Murder City Devils.

That was cool.

TRAPPED IN PURGATORY!
EvErYbOdY hAd MaTcHiNg ToWeLs!

This sounds like a Squid song

THANK YOU FOR THIS💜💜💜

That was the best thing I've ever seen

IKR! I’ve seen like 50 mash-ups, and some are really good, but it’s not even close.

Glad you enjoied! Cheers!

My favorite of his is WarMCA or Beyoncés Heil (Rammstein In Love). Pretty much everything he does is excellent.

Also Shaxicula which anyone who has spent time on Tiktok will recognize

That Beyoncé x Rammstein one is so good and the video editing so clean you almost forget theyre separate songs, that’s some talent baby

And then Macho Man Randy Savage shows up

I guess the beatles are playing at that house.

This is my favorite

https://youtu.be/13wwndvI1K4

Like, if Brittney could get out of her conservatorship and released an album with Deftones, I'd buy it. For real.

in another universe Ozzy Osbourne was the ultimate disco act.

No.

Ahem.

No.

Ahem.

No. Ahem.

main takeaway here is that Stevie fucking rules

I've just realised that Stevie Wonder plays like Rowlf.

Stevie vocals makes anything amazing.

My favorite in this vein is this one: https://youtu.be/46SD5uZkZa4

"My life on the crazy train sucks"

I love the Stewie at the end

It's been forever since I've heard this. Thank you for reminding me of this work of art.

DJ Cummerbund is the greatest artist of our generation.

He's pretty good but he's no Neil C

I’ve got to rep my favorite DJ Cummerbund video, Holiday No. 5 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf5zic6b-qw

Hey my main men Tim and Eric are in there

Excuse me, that's Casey and his brother.

This remix is so good that Allee Willis - the person who wrote "September" - said she loved it. She is the video's pinned comment.

This isn't high enough. By FAR DJ Cummerbund's greatest work.

That’s also glorious!

Came here to make sure this was represented as the greatest mashup.

Hey Sherlock’s actually a pretty good DJ

I suspected this would be at the top, DJ Cummerbund is a mashup god.

I’m dying here. This is the lords work here.

Everyone’s filling the comments with other mashups, but I can’t believe there’s no Boulevard of Broken Songs!

And shoutout to the OG of collaborations: Thomas the Tank Engine - ft. 50 Cent and - ft. Snoop Dogg

I love the enthusiasm. Let me bless your eardrums with LCD Soundsystem feat. Miles Davis

https://youtu.be/huEtJw7pfLk

Edit: I'm surprised more people haven't heard this one. Someone with more karma on r/videos should post it. And thanks for my first award!

This one is fantastic. While many of the others are a bit of a fun novelty, this one feels perfect.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of LCD Soundsystem but I actually listen to this version more than the album version. It adds tension and atmosphere to an already incredible song.

For most mashups the reaction is "Wow these two songs fit pretty well." But for this one, it feels like an entirely new, almost fuller experience.

Yeah, this has replaced the album version for me for all the reasons you stated. This absolutely improved upon the original, despite the original being amazing to begin with.

All y'all should watch Elevator to the Gallows if you haven't. Fantastic movie.

Looks amazing, 93% on rotten tomatoes.

Florence (Jeanne Moreau) is married to the wealthy arms dealer Simon Carala (Jean Wall), but is carrying on a torrid affair with one of her husband's employees, Julien (Maurice Ronet). Julien daringly climbs into Simon's office on a rope, kills him and leaves unnoticed. However, Julien accidentally leaves the rope at the crime scene and realizes he must retrieve it. On his way out, he becomes stuck in the building's elevator. But he soon finds that his bad luck is just beginning.

Streaming on HBO MAX

A friend gave us the soundtrack years ago. I made the mistake of looking for it in French... No luck.. Of course our local video shop had it under the English title.

Fantastic movie.

Do you always just listen to it on YouTube or is there a Spotify link somewhere?

This is a video I have converted to mp3 from YouTube.

Oh wow, that's a good one, too! Some serious editing went into that one changing the timing of Take Five.

That's what makes a good mashup for me, one that gives you something actually great to listen to.

Absolutely. I mean, I get a kick out of the ironic ones, too, but ones like this LCD/Davis mashup create something wholly new and awesome.

Earlier this year I was obsessed with this one: https://sowndhaus.audio/track/6349/daw-gun-closer-in-a-fast-car-chainsmokers-v-tracy-chapman

Ooh, that one is pretty smooth.

You've inspired me to post this amazing Paul Simon/Django Reinhardt mashup. It looks like YouTube removed it but here's the SoundCloud link. Truly ear-licious!https://m.soundcloud.com/dj_earworm/brazilian-diamonds

Beautiful!

That mashup legitimately improves the song at a deep, artistic level. The other examples in this thread are great songs, but the addition of davis to this conflicted ode is powerful and serves to lift the message without altering it. Now that i have heard this, the original will always have a piece missing.

Edit: this kind of ruined mashups for me. The others seem so shallow in comparison

This is exactly how I felt when I heard it the first time. I have yet to find a mashup that compares to this.

Loved this, hated how the video kept zooming in and the mouse kept moving around like it was about to pause of skip the video then didn't.

Talk about anxiety inducing.

Haha it was old school mashing. Even before the days of the Facebook stream delay.

This is my favorite mashup. Bee Gees and Nelly. The two songs mesh together so perfectly.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=s8Kzqzd5IT4

Ooh that is really good.

I love both songs, and this is somehow better than either. Sometimes you hear a mashup that you wish was the actual song that got released. They each dominated the charts as is, imagine how much even more popular this would be lol.

You took the words right outta my mouth.

Its like something out of an alternative history book... I have heard both of those songs hundreds of times and intellectually understand they are from different genres, decades, and countries... but that mash up actually sounds like a more natural composition than either of its contributing songs... and I've never said that about any mash up I've ever heard.

I completely agree.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is probably the best mashup ever : Lil Jon /Cooking by the Book.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WBPrQIfc3o

Can’t forget our friend Thomas the Dank Engine

And the one made in to a music video: https://youtu.be/00doXQRTAP0

jeez,... I am sorry that you're both wrong

herp alpert V public enemy

It's crazy how well that flows together

I was about to post my favorite (Party and Bullshit in the USA) but nah, yours is the best.

Prefer this Stone Roses v B.I.G. version

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmFP8Ckt3uk

Notorious B.I.G vs The XX

Warning : you can't unhear it

Party and Bullshit in the USA is in another league over those others, because it juxtaposes the differences in the childhoods of Biggie and Miley.

I prefer Blurry in the USA (Puddle of Mudd x Miley Cyrus) https://youtu.be/-MB_X53mexY

Love this one - it actually makes me a little emotional with the accompanying video.

This has always been my favorite.

This is a top 5 mashup without a doubt

Sir I hate to now burst your bubble but you have clearly not heard psychosalad: The Wiggles/ Slipknot https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4PPcnmO76rg

psychosocial baby justin beiber and slipknot

That chorus sounds fucking amazing.

Uhm, that’s Slipknot. 😂

Ah damn sorry, I was going off of the pinned comment on the video. Fixed it, thanks!

No sorry needed! I’m just a big Death Grips fan so I was sad it wasn’t them. 😂

I don't even have to watch this (even though I will) to know thus is a classic! Top shelf choice.

That was 100% not the version i was expecting and for sure not the "classic" one

It wasn't: this is the original one: https://youtu.be/K5tVbVu9Mkg

This takes me back a few years.

I feeling like you are my long lost reddit name sibling.

Brother/Sister, we shall together trip Ambien balls forever and a day.

Be leary of the walrus. He's quite the trickster.

Any more so than the shadow people? If so, I heed the warning because I get the feeling they know stuff about me. 😉

Also, your response made me think of that weird poem by Lewis Carroll. "The Walrus and the Carpenter". Kinda trips me out without Ambien.

This had me laughing so hard just now I was crying. Wow.

Yea that is really good aha

Lmaoo I remember when one of my friends sent me this, it was like her favorite thing in the world for years, I still think about it when I hear lil jon

This was a better blend than Temptations and Black Sabbath.

I've always been preferential to Mambo No. 5 crossed with Undertale's Megalovania:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_xpK41qLQk

Yeah, I would actually believe this was the real song if I didn't know them.

wow, I didn't know I needed this in my life. But this is perfection.

Heck yeah this has always been a banger

Yup, this is the bar set for all other mashups. Five years later it's still top 3 easily.

At the same time, the bar set for remixes is clearly PrettyLights - Country Roads. (This is amazing with a good sound system or good headphones.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAXz2z4giws

All these assholes piggybacking off your comment. Nelly vs Bee Gees stands alone at the top!

Holy shit that is good!

Yeah. For me, it's a tossup between that and We Are Young Vs YMCA also by Lobsterdust.

Oooh I have to disagree on that one. That was awful. Those songs do not mix at all. FUN is waaay to slow. YMCA is a bop and it just does not gel well with the drawn out somber tone of FUN.

Plus just the actual mix is pretty poor there too. The music of YMCA is way too loud. The tempo of the music already overpowers the singing but then the music itself is so loud it’s more like listening to two songs at once, not two songs melded together.

pleasemore

oh and probally one of the greatest enya vs prodigy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjY7AnUdisU

Is the audio clipping intentional?

Clicked thinking it was gonna be Prodigy from Mobb Deep rapping over Sail Away. Still great.

i havnt revisted that in years. Much better on the front, the chanting could be cut, and the bitrate is garbage. If I was a younger soul id take it on myself to remaster because it is some divine remixing.

It’s cool, but the baselines from the two songs kinda blow out each other. This would be fantastic if it was edited better.

agreed. needs a haircut . Dosnt help the only copy going around came from limewire

Audiosurf, what a blast from the past.

In the face of stiff competition, that one takes the gold for me

Mighty Mike - City Down Under

M83 vs Men At Work

https://youtu.be/bQTkAjyqVz8

M83/Beastie Boys is my favorite - Midnight Galactic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XL0YWTPDMUI

I love men at work and these two songs separate but I don't know how I feel about this mash up

Could literally be it's own thing lol I dig it out of all the choices

lobsterdust was a legend back in the day. I was always partial to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lOkraVIUag

Almost anything from Go Home Productions was gonna be gold. That guy just hears music different than I do.

yeah. Inspiration like that come through youth drugs or god himself.

(proof and point) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBtI_sUuL58&list=PLTChRQFlkGMqW6xmbr-g1ZOO59lQnhtwo&index=5

Here's a britney Spears x Fleetwood Mac Mashup .

Not by lobster dust but I think this deserves a listen: Western plastic

If you like a Paramore mashup, you gotta hear Ain't It Fun In Da Club

sounds like some house remix, not bad it works pretty well.

There is an artist called girl talk that o can recommend, albums night ripper, feed the animals, and all day are fucking bangers.

Well... There's Nine Inch Nails vs Carly Rae Jepsen - "Call me a Hole"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Lm1FL7gWl4

came here to say this. You beat me to it. Great mash

Biggie & The Guess Who takes the cake for me https://youtu.be/Kw_2SddGri4

Imho, Rage against Vanessa Carlton is better than anything that was posted here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kYco2Zt-cM

I have been looking for this for years! I can die happy now. We'll, not now...but when I do die eventually, I'll be happy. All because of you.

I, for one, am ready for the 2020s disco revival.

I just wanna thank this entire thread for an awesome diversion from very ordinary real life.

My city is under yet another COVID lockdown (hoping to get good news today, but it's our 5th, so only a matter of time before the next one) and today's the 11th anniversary of my dad's passing (no sympathy please), but my brothers and I can't get together to remember him (that's two years running, now).

This thread will definitely help lift my spirits today.

Thanks all. I need this.👍

Hey Melbournite! Yeah hopefully good news today.

Seems like it - 10 cases, all in quarantine during their infectious period. Fingers crossed!

Sydney sider here! Yeah... sorry about the cases.... Hopefully we can all come out of this and look back on it a month later. Hopefully those dicks from the weekend haven't spread the virus any more than it currently is.

Greetings and prayers from USA mate

Sorry, that’s not even close to Enter Sandman/Hip To Be Square:

https://youtu.be/3MRx4LpYbQ4

Amazing! Definitely one of the best in the thread!

HOW HAS NO ONE MENTIONED THE GOAT OF MASHUP ARTISTS:

GIRL TALK (All Day. Feed the Animals. Night Ripper.) https://youtu.be/39y-BGoJTms

Followed closely by Super Mash Bros. (All About the Scrillions) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8A3757B7C4D46912

I love Girl Talk's stuff. I've never found someone I like as much.

If you like Girl Talk, try checking out Bruneaux and White Panda (some of their older albums are here https://soundcloud.com/user-605066436)

I'll definitely check them out. Thanks!

Also e603 (Smokeshow and Torn Up) and Milkman (Circle of Fifths and Algorithms)

Both follow the Girl Talk approach of one almost seamless album of samples being tossed in and pulled continuously compared to some that focus on combing a few songs into one ala the Jay Z / Linkin Park "Collision Course" and the Jay Z / Coldplay "Viva La Hova"

Absolutely. “War Pigs” vs “Move Bitch” works way better than this.

That one is called “Oh No” it’s one of those songs that I’m always looking up on YouTube because it’s not on Spotify

"Generals gathered in their massesssssss (move bitch, get out the way bitch get out the way) just like generals at black massesssss"

This is the comment that was needed. Right here.

Worth noting that this whole album is free to download from his site. Great album to play if you want to get a party going. Just don't shuffle it. The fact that the whole thing blendsso seamlessly elevates it to the pantheon of the greats.

I feel like we're never getting the followup to All Day... :(

[deleted]

Correction...best Girl Talk will always be Juicy and Tiny Dancer

My moneys on Fugazi/Rihanna (5:25): https://youtu.be/FtsxfquYHf0

But does that beat the refrain of...

I wish that I had Jesse's girlllll...

but I'd rather get some head

Oh man, Night Ripper and Feed the Animals are so nostalgic for me. I used to listen to those on a burned CD, on repeat

Feed the Animals is a full album of unrelenting bangers, and Night Ripper was my high school soundtrack.

+1 for Girl Talk.

Yeah any time I see a Sabbath mashup my first thought is "It's probably not as good as Oh No"

Plenty of nice mashups!!

My favourite Crocodile Chop!!!

https://youtu.be/rd4MoarlKxM

Edit: Crocodile Rock - Elton John + Chop Suey - System of a Down

Neil needs to be higher on this list. His Mash-ups are trancendent. It's amazing that they can be so well done memes while also being the best straight up Mashups in existence. So many of his songs could take the top stop on a list like this.

My personal favorite is "T.I.M.E." where he mashes up the song "Time" from Interstellar with "Y.M.C.A." and the result is something completely otherworldly. It transforms both songs into something more powerful than the original. The lyrics to "Y.M.C.A" become so much more pleading and desperate. There is so much pain. Panic and focus and fear and love and hope and grief. The emotion is so potent I completely forget it's a joke... until Smash Mouth appears in the very end.

Yeah, Neil is on a different level entirely imo. One thing to take song a and song b and combine, what he does is different in a way that is hard to put into words. Doesn't resonate for everyone, but if it works for you, buckle the fuck up.

He puts the same level of effort into achieving composition, emotional impact, and authorial intent that other artists do in their original music, the only difference being that he’s constructing his music out of already existing works.

Since we are celebrating Neil here is my favourite https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEmJH7JsKgM

Neil is the only answer. His worst mashups are better than op.

Dude yes, I was scrolling through all the sub comments looking for this. Prob my favorite mashup of all time. It just works on so many levels and has no business being as good as it is.

My favorite is this mashup of Carly Rea Jepsen and Nine Inch Nails. Only one I have seen that actually sounds like they are singing together.

https://youtu.be/WC1ei5RlK7E

“I’d rather die! Than give you control!”

“I really really really like you”

I like to imagine an alternate reality where Rammstein, Metallica, Wild Cherry, and Megadeth collaborated to perform Play That Funky Music Rammstein

Or the B-52's and KISS made Detroit Rock Lobster

They'd end the concert with Rock and Roll Until a Reasonable Hour

Wow that first one is the only one I've come across in this thread that really just sounds legit

Okay, but the best Easy mashup has still got to be Easy Like Heaven.

Wow, that’s actually pretty amazing.

I'm legitimately jamming to this

Isn't it a bit early in the year to be jamming...

That's a different CRJ/NIN mashup than I was expecting. I thought it was going to be Call Me A Hole.

if the goal is to create a mash up of two songs that sounds like it could have been one original song...you can't get better than this one (imho):

The Cure vs The Commodores - Easy Like Heaven

I think I have to go with this one instead. Just can't get past that guy's voice, though it is obviously well put together.

Think for The Cure I have to go with Lullaby for Gorillaz

My favorite mash-up is either

Adele / Survivor - Rollng with the Tiger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyQtmPmX0c0

Or

AC/DC / Ghostbuster - Thunder Busters! (By Wax Audio) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyiUMILRPGU

Been looking for ThunderBusters in this list. Maybe because it was one of the earliest mashups I saw, but it stays a step above all others for me.

These are both fucking excellent! Thank You!

All of you have no clue what you are talking about! The best mashup is Slipknot/Justin Bieber!

This one was always my favorite Slipknot mashup.

This is almost unironically good.

What do you mean almost? This shit legit slaps.

The "rain will kill us all" part is a little out of time, but otherwise, yeah.

ps. Here's a legit great Death Grips/Funkadelic mashup.

I straight up saved this to my playlist lol

Nine inch nails vs Taylor Swift, it's still my favourite.

My favorite NiN mashup: Call Me A Hole

I hate how well this works

It's because, and I say this as a massive NIN fan, Trent Reznor can write an absolute belter of a pop song.

This one’s the perfect blend of the kind of song I enjoyed when I was a teen & the kind of song I enjoy now.

Oooh, I bet you’ll like this one too! (NIN, Funkytown)

https://youtu.be/YS3mJ5pFndk

Oh my god that was amazing

Spiceknot - "If You Want to Breathe My Sulfur" is a solid choice too.
https://youtu.be/pm08v69vG10

Heresy!!!!!

Disturbed/Stevie Wonder/Styx/Will Smith/Randy Savage is obviously the best Mash Up

Edit: Freaktender very close 2nd.

You can never go wrong with DJ Cummerbund

Edit-check out Shaxicula.
Rob Zombie, Britney, B-52's, Randy Savage
https://youtu.be/c8Upzye9Ctw

I disagree, they took the worst parts of both songs and put them together.
I like Donzig or Call Me A Hole better.

Donzig, it’s so good

Donzig is now canon.

That Donzig one is phenomenal.

Nah, that still sound like a mashup. Disturbed & Of Monsters and Men - Little Sickness feels like an original superb composition, it's in own thing and I prefer it to either originals!

ok, you win. ^fuck's ^sake...

Came here just to link this. Best mashup ever created.

That's a really good mash up.

Oh geez. That shit just gave me cancer.

If anyone is going to check out these types of mixes Isosine really is a must listen.

Danzig & Donna Summer - Bad Mother
https://youtu.be/H6_jBfoTLFQ

It's gotta be a pretty high bar to compete with The Trooper Believer or Take on Backseat.

Trooper Believer is legitimately A++ tier.

[deleted]

Oh, do I have something for you mashup peeps.

Bee Gees x Eminem. Fits SO WELL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LALlWHHqxxg

Beatles x Biggie - I listen to this so much I heard the original Beatles on the radio and was left waiting for the drop ... it took me days ot figure out why it was wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu7yndQyDi4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBtiMydeUsg

Stairway to getting money, Led/Gramatik x Tupac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1EYb1bu6J0

Gramatik v JayZ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCcyNQmhplo

Post x Nickelback x 21 Savage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY5mykx33Os

WhitePanda https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMx0NcmQOvY

Rasputin x Cardi B. SOMEHOW THIS WORKS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA7zkyKisC4

The Verve v Mac Miller https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX87LhfDLKo

This kid made like 2-3 remixes and never again. Too bad he is SO GOOD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXJclN0vuig

Pomplamoose has done a few good ones too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8gUKEGuS20

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooZR4LSuppk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmLBSCiEoas

I’m going to have to say Slayer and Marvin Gaye is one of the best mashups. They go together so we’ll.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d2nLoh32CS0

Of course, Nirvana and Rick Astley is scary good.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NN75im_us4k

I was looking for the Slayer Marvin game mashup. It's almost perfect. To put some anger behind Marvin Gaye.

And of course you can't mention Nirvana Gonna Give You Up without the live version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GE0AiC-mi8

Check out 'Girl Talk' on Spotify/YouTube

Something about it doesn’t work imo

Part of the problem is that it's not a mashup, it's more of a musical overlay. A mashup would have had some lyrical synergy in it, like "Get ready, cause love comes flowing through, yeah". Instead, not a single vocal from Children of the Grave was used.

That's probably why this might be my favorite out of the videos of his I've seen.

That was lovely

This is my most common complaint with mashups. I don't want to just hear the vocal track of one song played over the music from another, I want to hear a real interplay between artists!

Yeah that chunky bass line just doesn't work with the vocals. There's such a sense of dread behind that "dun dudududun" that really only works with Ozzy wailing at us his warnings of nuclear war.

As much as I love The Temptations, love song lyrics just don't fit.

I agree. However, it's kind of the point though - it's not about it being a banger but rather the juxtaposition of the saccharine melody of the temptations and the existential dread of sabbath.

That's what makes it work so well.

I feel this Black Sabbath song would probably work best if mixed with Hall & Oats' Maneater.

Agreed. I love both these songs but this is a terrible mashup. I mean you could mashup anything with the temptations and it will sound half decent, but this was disappointing.

Not a fan as well. It really does sound like 2 songs put on top of each other and not really blended.

Agreed

It's the same with most of his. I dig his choices and I want to like them but there's some weird audio uncanny valley thing going on. I don't know exactly how or why but my guess is there's some sort of atmosphere missing. Like it needs white noise in the background maybe.

Check out DJ Cummerbund for a similar style but with the missing "I don't know what" added.

I'm still subscribed though. Still a fan.

It's just not mixed quite right. The vocals need to be taken back a lot and compressed way more. They overpower the instrument tracks so much that it becomes clear you're listening to 2 separate things at the same time instead of 1 cohesive song.

I think it's too much treble.

Motown is supposed to be very high in the range because of the crappy speakers in car radios at the time.

That high treble combined with the cymbals kind of clashes I think. They need to bring the Temptations down to a mid range to slot in better I think.

I think it's the lack of modulation(?) (chord change) as they go into the chorus. It's the most interesting part of the Temptations song but with this music it just feels really flat in those key moments

Nice, but it doesn't top Rage Against Vanessa Carlton

https://youtu.be/6kYco2Zt-cM

This is my favourite mashup. Korn + Taylor Swift - coming undone

That’s a great one - Raining Lobsters is my fav after watching 50 of them

(high point is 1:45 - 2:15)

I always thought Rock Lobster had a sinister sound to it that was just let down by goofy lyrics. This fixes that. I'd argue it's the best version of both songs

Raining blood

From a lacerated sky

Everybody's having fun!

That was everything. Wow.

The day party and bullshit in the usa was removed from spotify i cried. I think this song was my number 1 track for like 4 years lol

That's why I pay for youtube music. It has everything down the very obscure, and a removal just comes back from a different uploader. The algorithm is pretty good too, people always ask me what playlist this is and I have to admit that "I just told it to play that one song, after that it's all AI."

I get spotify premium for free through a friend so ¯\(ツ)

Otherwise I'd switch.

If you have premium I believe you can upload your own songs to listen to anywhere. You'd have to find a .mp4 or other version of the song and jump through some hoops though.

When I think of a good mashup, I think of two songs that feel like they're combined in equal parts to make a complete whole, and out of all the songs others are suggesting here, this is the first I've listened to that really feels like it does that. All the others seem to be ditching all of one of the song's vocals and all of the other song's instruments and just matching the remaining vocals and instruments together.

For another song that I think makes for a superb mashup, I need to recommend Pink Floyd + Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive in the Wall.

Like this?

I'll toss this one your way then

Nice, I barely know any of these, thanks!

Yes!! Good to hear :)

I forgot about this. The Disturbed soundbite always kills me.

Mashup rabbit hole incoming. Love it

Wugazi WuTang vs Fugazi. The perfect blend

Holy shit, how have I never heard that before? Love me some Fugazi.

Thanks for sharing!

Came here to say this.

Reminds me of Max Tannone work. Jaydiohead is a straight up revelation. But the one that's really got me going at the moment is Most Dub.

https://youtu.be/1JG-5n45BcQ

Definitely worth a listen if you haven't heard his stuff. Jaydiohead used to be a free download on Soundcloud. On mobile right now so not sure where best to find it ATM.

This is dope. The Wutang vs the Beatles and Jimmy Hendrix mixtapes are awesome too. Tom Caruana made both and they sound like albums.

Damn! Not a single mention of Bill Withers, Pantera, and a splash of Nugent?!?!?! So funky and heavy.

Anybody that leads me back to Pantera gets my vote.

Use Me literally feels like it's missing something because of how well the Nugent fits it

Eerily good fit.

Warren G/ Nate Dog/ Michael McDonald. You are welcome

https://youtu.be/xp5wID1FWOk

Sorry but nothing beats this masterpiece https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZazVpuooQ0

I'm scrolling and scrolling through these comments but have yet to see the actual best Mashup ever;

MGMT - Kids but it's September by Earth, Wind & Fire

https://youtu.be/loRA5XxACcw

Do you really want life? - Culture Club meets Evanescence

Bill McClintock is a living legend.

I would put my hat in the ring for this gem, first track from Girl Talk's 'All Day':

https://youtu.be/4bMM7tGV9MI

Whole album is a masterpiece.

2manydjs/Soulwax have so many and I believe are the godfathers of the genre.

Also DJ AM of course. RIP thanks for the music. The Elton mixes are impeccable.

All Bill McClintoc madh ups are awesome.

All of these are great but I think the best mashup of all time is the secret hidden track from DJ Cummerbund you got linked to if you won the Choose Your Own Adventure YT game.

https://sowndhaus.audio/track/11900/mashie-wonderland

Going to be a great youtube playlist at the end of this.

Ariana Grande and Stranger things Intro it’s really beautiful.

If I’m honest most of these mashups just sound like two songs played at the same time. This is the only one I’ve found that doesn’t hurt my brain.

Sexy Bitch in Memphis. All time great mashup https://youtu.be/l-iZ73BLRLI

This seems like the perfect mash... like Ratt took the beats from Marvin Gaye... its too perfect! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57SNPbxi0r0&ab_channel=BillMcClintock

Was about to link this. My favorite mashup

I really like this queens of the stone age + Adele mashup https://youtu.be/EsEZ1jvjTB0

No, my friend, that would be this one: Run DMC x Stevie Wonder x Cypress Hill

So I started saving individual comments with links, then I just said "F*ck it, I'm just saving the post and coming back when I have 6 hours to listen to mashups"

Wait... how on earth is The Strokes Vs Christina Aguilera - A Stroke Of Genie-us not on this list?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShPPbT3svAw

I think this may have been the first actual mashup I ever heard (when it was originally released).

Amazed no one has posted prodigy/enya

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WjY7AnUdisU

I can't believe stayin' in the black hasn't been mentioned:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVCtJvLZvis&ab_channel=%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%B8%D1%85%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%91%D0%B2

Bill McClintock is good but DJ Cummerbund is better

DMX Call me maybe would like a word! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fegs-XVKgnM

I shamelessly blast this song while driving.

My personal favorite is Kings of Leon's 'Sex on Fire' and The Four Tops 'It's the Same Old Song'.

https://soundcloud.com/mixessss36/kings-of-leon-vs-the-four-tops-use-the-same-old-song-mighty-mike

This is great, but everyone knows the best mashup of all time is Tupac and The Jackson 5.

Sad but superstitious is better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyvxHL5hLfE

Metallica - Sad but True

Stevie Wonder - Superstition

This is delightful, but to qualify as the best mashup ever, we need some Ozzy vocals!

What song is this? It sounds so familiar but I can't place it

Since everyone seems to be putting in their choice for best mashup, this one takes the cake for me. Closer and Come Together. Works like magic.

https://vimeo.com/1471537

Black Sabbath instrumentals + Temptations vocals = Queens of the Stone Age?

Slayer and Katrina & The Waves - Chemical Warfare Don't It Feel Good is the greatest mashup ever, and no one can convince me otherwise!

Alan Parson's Project and Dio - I Wouldn't Want To Be Like The Holy Diver really shows how talented Bill McClintock is though.

haven't heard this in years - thanks! happy cake day!! I have eaten cake in your honour

I Really Want a Hole - Carly Rae Jepsen and Nine Inch Nails

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC1ei5RlK7E

Basically a clingy girl arguing with an abusive boyfriend.

Not enough William Maranci up in here. Some of my favs...

September/Kids - https://youtu.be/loRA5XxACcw

Buy u a drank/Mr Bright side - https://youtu.be/isbn7Cyzx3A

Scary Monsters.../ Chop Suey - https://youtu.be/iYwKjT6SISE

No, the best is https://youtu.be/zg9PjEZQKdA

The Bangles and Slayer - Walk Like An Angel of Death.

M83/Beastie Boys Midnight Galactic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XL0YWTPDMUI

This is the correct answer

No love for Crushingly Close?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkhSVNE0g7o

Fuck yes. This is the greatest mash-up of all time.

This has been a fun thread.. been years since I really went through a load of mashups. Looks like I'm still probably the only person on the planet to have attempted a Tubular Bells mashup and I'm proud of that. Even if it sounded like a mashup falling down a flight of mashups.

I like Tool and Taylor Swift mixed together. https://youtu.be/56Cqbk9CJz8

Stinkfist + We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

But actually.... It's crocodile chop!

https://youtu.be/rd4MoarlKxM

Elton John and system of a down

Jurrasic 5 vs. Robin Hood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15mjr-medW4

Bee Gees Stayin' Alive vs. Dr. Dre & Snoop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77SNTq7h3WQ

So many good mashups in this thread, but feel like I would be doing a disservice if I didnt link my favourite of all time.

LOTR - Kanye = Touch the Shire

https://m.soundcloud.com/bootie-dragon-con-mashups/touch-the-shire-shire-theme-vs

Seriously I've only made it like 10 comments and all kinds of good mashups, I love it.

One of my favs from years ago. Remember when these songs were popular? Every Little Gambino She Does is Childish

I still like it hah.

It's pretty good!

But the best mashup I've ever heard is Dre and Snoop Dogg with Crowded House - The Weather Episode.

Space Jam + Final Countdown.

It's as good as you imagine it to be.

We all love Bill, but how about some love for William Maranci? Lose Yourself in the Blue Sky - Eminem Light Orchestra. Anyways, here's Wonderwall but Liam Keeps Singing the Wrong Song.

I'm surprised DJ Cummerbund isn't more represented in this thread. To me his best is this Eagles/Dragonforce/Destiny's Child/Innerpartysystem mashup.

DJ Cummerbund is from another dimension where this collaboration actually happened. Like that guy in the movie where he's the only person who remembers the Beatles.

[deleted]

It's from California summer jam festival. Absolutely enourmous crowd and this live performance is great.

Deep Purple killed it, too.

Feels like something is rushing and it's pretty uneasy feeling...like an uncanny valley for my ears.

Everybody shut your stupid mouths and enjoy the sound of world peace.

https://youtu.be/loRA5XxACcw

Holy fuck I seriously got down to that

This is a good one.

I'm sorry but that title was already taken by a glorious mashup by madeon wich later was used in this masterpiece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-6xk4W6N20

I don’t like that it’s only Sabbath music with Temps singing.

This Slayer and B52’s “Raining Lobsters” switches back and first with audio and video seamlessly.

Best part is \~1:45 - 2:15!

Foo Fighters with Earth Wind and Fire, September is too good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5faHg_FjG4

How the hell is "Never gonna give up your teen spirit" not on here!? Get your shit together reddit!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NN75im_us4k

Man, Sabbath sure played the hell out of one chord huh?

One of my favourites:

[Descamento - We are never getting down with the sickness (Gen-Z anthem) - (Taylor Swift, Disturbed)] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yus8NRtdH7c)

Nice, has some KISS vibes. Detroit Rock City maybe...

https://youtu.be/vWMPhnBmGF0

Having seen both acts live, I suppose I’m the vin diagram innards you’re looking for.

His "Killed by Exodus" Lemmy vs. Bob Marley is truly epic!

There's goes my afternoon listening to all the ones in this thread. Not a bad way to waste some time though.

Here's one I made a few years back.

Single Maneater Ladies

Single Ladies in Mayberry https://youtu.be/vWMPhnBmGF0

Man-Cheetah https://youtu.be/VFJ38O0Fjo8

The vocals feel just a tad before the beat? Or is it just me

Is there a version where the Black Sabbath scenes are in black-and-white? I think that would make the visuals blend more nicely.

My favorite mashup: Earth, Wind, and Ozzies.

https://youtu.be/FuOuUixdSvY

How is this not the top comment? These mesh almost perfectly.

How the HELL has no one mentioned the actual best Mashup of all time?

Nirvana VS Destiny’s Child: Smells like Bootylicious

https://youtu.be/GXGSBpMHcpA

I feel obligated to throw on of my favorite mashups ever in this thread: Lorde and Notorious BIG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTQa-Y1EfrI

This mashup fucking sucks.

Give the Nativity in Black tribute album to Black Sabbath a listen.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nativity_in_Black:_A_Tribute_to_Black_Sabbath

Here's something just for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THM0eDqAzmU

For the Nickelback fans, here's Nickelback and Nickelback! (and a trombone solo!)

PantsFeet

Its great, but its strictly worse than Children of the Grave so I dunno that the mash is really doing a lot here.

Get it the fuck outta here!!!!

For me it will always be Adele vs. Fear Factory

My all time favorite: DJ Dain - Don't Worry, I'm Yours https://youtu.be/AR2lRF-I8OE

That's how The Kiss was created!

Without listening to any of the other links in this thread I'm going to have agree with you. Absolutely the best mash-up I've ever heard. When he starts singing...holy shit, it's perfect.

Some love for the actual post - this is amazing. Everyone is just posting alternatives but this is beautiful

Not a well known one, but I think Kanye vs Lana del Rey's Born to Walk just works amazingly well: https://smija.bandcamp.com/track/born-to-walk

(sorry couldn't find on youtube)

I used to love the Partyben mashups from about 12 years ago. Then they just all dried up.

Edit: some of them are still there!
Found my favourite Adamski Vs Killer - Somebody Kill Me (direct MP3 link)
He also did Whoomp Calabria on the Sixx Mixx once. Closest I can find is this version by DJ Chris Watkins on Soundcloud

I can't find the partyben remix prodigy & hives "hate to smack my bitch up" (edit: figured it out but still can't find it)

Edit: I am not a smart man. I realized it wasn't the first song on the file. I haven't heard this in years! Thank you!!!

Madeon is the King of mashups for all time after Pop Culture.

https://youtu.be/lTx3G6h2xyA

Ozzy with a rainbow in the background! Way ahead of his time! 😊

https://youtu.be/wEmJH7JsKgM

This one always makes me like sigh at how well it works.

Awesome. However, all I can see is Donald Glovers movements in This is America, really interesting to see.

my dream mashup will always be james brown singing metallica's 'jump in the fire' oh in another lifetime it would of been epic.

plf

Not so sure about this one.....

I Walk Alone Singing with Women by Green Day vs Oasis vs Aerosmith is my official head version all these years later.

Sweet Home Country Grammar by Lynyrd Skynyrd & Nelly also still makes an occasional visit to my headspace.

This is absolute shit what are you talking about

Nothing's quite beaten Badbusters for me, the mashup of Bad by Michael Jackson and the Ghostbusters theme.

Here is a good one. Disturbed + Monsters and Men. It works surprisingly well.

https://youtu.be/iAtNswun8lQ

children of the grave is such a legendary song

I don’t understand how this is done, do people have access to the masters or something?

RemindMe! 12 hours 'Mashups'

RemindMe! 12 hours 'Mashups'

So many questions... 1. When was it ever cool to have a rainbow background at a heavy metal concert? 2. What in the fuck was Mike doing there? Classic Mike. Fucking guy.

Idk there’s a Cardi B and Fleetwood Mac mashup that actually slaps

God Bless Bill McClintock

This is my favorite, James Brown vs. Led Zeppelin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG6T5cydKcM

https://youtu.be/vyCL9S-Vtmw

Smashing pumpkins and Tupac wins

It’s ok, definitely not the best ever. Check out the Kleptones mashup of The Flaming Lip’s Yoshimi. Your brain will explode.

My humble suggestion

https://youtu.be/udjV1Udvrl4

Crazy Logic these fit together so well that I usually remember it as the real version

Could see this being used in a movie or tv show

Definitely happy looking up song mashup suggestions from the comments. Any suggestions?

Indisputable proof that electric guitars makes everything better.

I see that jem and raise you Ghostbusters gon give it to ya https://youtu.be/roo0CeT1VXI

I'm sorry but this Stranger Things + The Weeknd Mashup is my personal favorite.

Saved

Brilliant to use these vocals

This has always been one of my favorite mashups ever. The Strokes Vs Christina Aguilera - A Stroke Of Genie-us

If I didn't know better I might have thought this is a QOTSA song.

r/sharedbpm would eat this up!
