Almost. I mean as adults our children really dislike the sound of scared gasps and people's over reactions to things that shouldn't warrant that type of concern or response. Also it taught the skill of self-assessment over panic. If something stupid happens it's okay to laugh even if there are minor injuries too. What you won't see is crying from pain. Like my son slid down a hill and wiped out on a skateboard as a teenager then waited until three hours later to mention it after his friends left. Road rash on his side, back, and arm with a rock the size of a marble that had to be surgically removed later. No tears, just a limp home, and some first aid request later.

It's legal in a couple US states, and they can be pretty tame when raised from birth, but they are never domesticated. They can and have eaten a baby's face. I would never have one myself, and especially not with children in the home.
Safe? No.
Safe relative to dogs? Probably safer than some breeds. Dogs get rabies too. Raccoons can be vicious but I've never heard of them overpowering and killing someone. Plenty of cases of adult humans being killed by dogs. In my own neighborhood a guy got permanent arm damage from a pit bull attack.
